I didn't include any of the Visions episodes that are clearly before 100BBY simply because they would be next to impossible to date. While the other Visions episodes, for the most part, cannot be CLEARLY dated, they're pretty easy to ballpark with outfits, ship styles, comments made by the characters, and the presence or absence of the Empire.

So both The Bad Batch and The Mandalorian are about cloning rn, which is my favorite scifi trope -- but instead of having an existential crisis (Solaris, The Prestige) or confronting your own mirror (Us, Toy Story 2), the story in current SW seems to go no further than that statement Obama made in 2009 that cloning is "dangerous, profoundly wrong, and has no place in our society." It seems like a wasted opportunity to do something cool with this trope, besides just punishing scientists before they've even done anything.

It has always disappointed me that we're spending a show with TBB and not the majority of identical clones, not just bc TBB are white-washed but also bc they don't have to actually deal with being copies. I liked s2e7 the best so far since it follows up with the other clones.

I am still holding out a bit of hope that Grogu, since he is the apparent test subject, will have some kind of existential crisis -- either he learns he is a clone, or he'll have to confront his own clone. Ofc it'd only be meaningful if he's able to express himself by then.

S2E6: _NO_

S2E7: You could have given him a lift off-planet. I'm just going to write an AU where he goes with them to help get the kid. "He means more to me than you will ever know." Congrats, you've pissed off dad.

S2E8: Can I just. OW? "I showed my face to my kid." I'm just going to go. Married to all t h e peoples. Din/Cobb/Miggs/Boba??? Can I do that? I want to do that.

I love the fact that of all the possible people Mayfeld is the one who saw Din's face. He had this thing of "take the helmet off" in both series that he's in (multiple jokes about the helmet and how Din looks like underneath it in The Prisoner, almost getting Din's helmet taken off by the hell boy guy; jokes about Din changing his outfit and his helmet in The Believer, and his phrase that Din won't be able to help him in the Imperial Base because he "won't show his face". The guy clearly saw the whole "creed" thing as a joke.) He was just taunting Din about it.

And when Mayfeld saw Din's face he didn't make any jokes. Even though, you'd kinda expect him to say something like "wow, you're not a wookie after all." (And I'm not counting "We just call him 'Brown Eyes,'" because it's a whole different thing, Mayfeld literally saved Din's poor ass from screwing the whole operation up. Mayfeld did a good thing.)

He just said that Din did what he needed to do. He respected him and showed that this situation will stay between them two.

This episode wasn't only a huge character development for Din, but for Mayfeld too. It showed the whole new side of his character. That he isn't just a "badass imperial dick", but also someone who regrets being an imperial dick.

I'm really looking forward to see where this whole thing goes, as it's obvious this isn't Mayfeld's last appearance (because it'd be weird to make such a plottwist where he's literally the only living being who saw Din's face, and then just make him... disappear). And I'm glad that they've chosen him from all the people in The Prisoner to give a redemption arc. The guy deserved it

In conclusion, I stan Mayfeld for clear skin and bald head❤️

Is it just me or was this episode making excuses why Din had to go and do stuff again?

Like in the beginning Boba couldn't go since they would recognize his face.... But

Didn't he like just crawled out of a sarlacc pit? I would imagine that that would change your face a lot

And even if it didn't: Din didn't show his face either? Couldn't Boba just have gone in and worn the armor like Din did?

And later on with the terminal:

What's the point with having a terminal use facial recognition if every person that comes by can use it? Was that like a fucking captcha? "Prove that you are not a robot"???

And like,,,,the officer obvs didn't recognize Mayfeld, wasn't even close to it, even when Mayfeld was shit talking him... Why couldn't he just go and try?

The Mandalorian s2e7/Ch15 - The Believer

Apparently this was the penultimate ep of the season? Can’t believe it’s gone by so quickly.

Random thoughts:

I don’t like Mayfeld (or Bill Burr tbh) but he sort of redeemed himself this ep. Not just his actions, but he was slightly less grating. And his backstory made sense.

It really was very weird to feel relief when the Empire/Stormtroopers arrived

I feel like the whole ‘people want order’ thing is a repeat? Is that something we saw In Rebels? Rogue One? They’re definitely setting the stage for the First Order though.

Boba repainted his armor! Yay! I have to admit that made me smile

He had the best line of the ep imo as well: ‘they might recognize my face’. LOL.

(btw after his badassery last week, how terrifying must the clones have been, thousands of them trained as soldiers?!)

Fennec Shand and Cara Dune make a cool team. More of this please.

Mando taking off his helmet was powerful. especially since he was definitely off his game the whole time. He barely said a word and looked spooked.

The speech to Gideon didn’t do it for me though

OMG, I just realized this was the first ep ever without Grogu! I knew there was something off about it.

I didn’t like this ep the way I did the previous two. I don’t mind the side-quests most of the time, but this was definitely filler. And lots of unnecessary shooting and explosions again. We spent most of the time on Mayfeld who isn’t my fave, so yeah.

We’re totally getting Grogu back next week though, right?!
