can we talk about percy’s guilt and self-esteem for a second?? because imo he has an absolutely insane habit of taking the blame for soooo many things and even when he’s the cause of trouble, the lengths he goes to rectify an error are IMMENSE. the most obvious one is him literally accepting a surely fatal prophecy because he feels responsible for bianca’s death (and ofc, he cares about nico but at that time, he also felt like he owed nico) but in the show, they portray this very accurately by having percy readily try and give up his life as a way to circumnavigate athena’s lack of help which he 100% blames himself for and has also verbally acknowledged.
(not that this will hinder him from letting the gods know exactly what he thinks of them but that’s a conversation for another day.)
point is, percy is insanely loyal and he is insanely susceptible to a guilt-ridden conscience. he will hold himself accountable for the smallest of things i am NOT kidding, like he’s the kinda guy to scold himself internally for stepping on someone’s toes by mistake. and this stems from his low self-esteem even though there is loads of nuance here because percy is also very confident when the need arises but in small, more grounded interpersonal relationship moments, his view of himself is so heartbreakingly unfair. he can be admirably surefooted in front of mighty beings like gods but when it comes to his friends and other demigods, he’s constantly second guessing himself and taking blame for the smallest of inconveniences. and i’m just. so. torn up about it. because this taking guilt over unnecessary things continues on into the sequel series too because i so clearly remember him feeling guilty about calypso and i hated it because percy jackson will stand up for everyone and their mothers but he also doesn’t defend himself half as fiercely as he should.
here are some examples from JUST lightning thief about percy and his guilty schtick routine this boy istg he needs to have a higher view of himself goodbye.

one thing i dislike abt my job, abt being an engine officer in particular, is how it instills a distrust and suspicion in your fellow man because the cost of misplaced trust can literally be death. a good if somewhat minor example is recently i had to top up the oil for a starting air compressor and asked the older motorman to prepare the oil for me. he did and i asked him, three times, is this oil from this barrel and he said yes and then i poured it in and then thought to check (my mistake) and the oil was different. luckily i caught it and changed the oil so it was fine. for some reason the people on my level informed my boss of this? he really didnt need to know about a miscommunication that was rectified. so the lesson here is; dont trust people and don't tell people when you make a mistake? idk. the real lesson ofc is that the old guy really is incapable, i should have known that, i shouldnt have trusted him even for something simple like this. luckily the issue was caught and at worst ill be seen to have somewhat poor but understandably so judgement.

which is also why I think - in a vengeance shri’iia au where she ends up as astarion’s spawn and he inevitably gets tired of her bc he has all the power in the world and he can have anything and anyone he wants and everything is his for the taking - when she inevitably turns from his ‘eternal lover’ to just his ‘first spawn’ - she will be sooo amy gone girl about it.
like she’s devoting her oath and her entire life to him, he doesn’t get to change that. he’s not allowed to change even. she will do everything in her power and she will even set fire to them both if he tried to change. like he’s making a mistake that she’s rectifying! she lives to serve, and if he doesn’t want her servitude that means there’s something that’s not right and she will personally correct that. like he doesn’t need to worry about anything ofc - worrying doesn’t look good on him let her fix what needs to be fixed. she is such a good lover after all. it doesn’t compute to her that she’s going to be replaced. like it literally doesn’t make sense, not when he promised her eternity. so when he starts looking at someone else, when he starts to favor someone else and lavish them with his attentions and praise she will get rid of them because he’s getting distracted! and he doesn’t need distractions! and when he gets mad at her she will forgive his transgressions and soothe that anger away - he doesn’t need anymore wrinkles. and she will know about every little lie he says and hold them close to her chest then recite it back to him when she gets rid of another one of his new favourites. and when he tries to kill her she’ll do the same thinking it’s some game or courtship - this is how it was back in menzoberranzan after all! the fact that he was willing to learn her traditional courtship is so sweet 🥰. and maybe she’ll scare him even, so he can learn what fear is again. it’s a good kind of fear bc she’s showing what kind of person she could be so it would be dumb of him to throw her away.
but the thing is! she’s operating out of love and devotion! and they have eternity together! and there’s something sooo sicko yes about how ascended astarion’s first spawn - his first creation - being something that he will eventually resent and fears. bc it would be so much easier if she hated him like how he hated cazador. but she doesn’t. she’s deranged and in love and so obsessive about that love to the point where it literally can not be changed - and he can’t change it or manipulate it. what was once useful to him became a detriment. their love turning so sick and rotten, like a leftover apple, and she becomes a nuisance that he can’t get rid of, and he’s stuck with that nuisance for eternity. he eventually realises what a mistake it was seducing her back then when they had those tadpoles in their heads, when they had that strange freedom. like if he knew things would turn out like this, and she was actually this kind of person, maybe he would’ve done things differently but instead he’s stuck with her for eternity.
and I do think he’ll try to kill her lmfao I mean he’s a vampire lord and she’s just a fucking spawn so he’ll get rid of her once he gets bored and annoyed, but she thinks it’s some game between them so she’ll try to get him too - not kill him ofc but just close enough to scare him and remind him that she does bite even before the vampire teeth. I mean before him, she was literally a drow high priestess/matron mother’s trained hound.
anyway I really love the idea of them being miserable with each other lmfaoo and I think she will be so miserable as a spawn actually and the moment when she potentially gets replaced something is gonna break inside of her bc it’ll just like before when she broke her oath. but she won’t be that bewildered and confused girl again, nope. she’s not going to accept it this time, she refuses! she doesn’t get to be the only miserable one, he doesn’t get to win..!!!

ooooh 1 & 16?
oh good questions
1. a character everyone gets wrong
nancy wheeler came to mind first bc she’s a character i was wrong about for many many years before i let go of shit. now i see her differently and in a much better light but knowing that other people still feel the way i used to is so sad tbh. but another contender is katara from atla. she’s fucking 14 or something calm down. realistically, the first thought is going to be a woman. bc of the rampant misogyny in fandom.
16. you can't understand why so many people like this thing (characterization, trope, headcanon, etc)
so i've been thinking about this and i don't really want to get into anything wholly negative. like ofc there are things i don't like, kinks that aren't me, headcanons i don't vibe with but i usually just say oh. i don't like this. and keep scrolling. so i really had to think and be like ok what should i dwell on this time? and then it hit me. i never understood why soulmate aus with like soulmate symbols got so popular. i don't know what it is about them but it always seems and feels like forced and that you're kinda trapped by this invisible force that's permanently tattooed on you or something. i'm happy that it works for other people but idk i never got it. also i don't really vibe with this trend of idk i guess you'd call it woobifying characters. infantalizing? idk. whatever it is when you make a character suddenly unable to do anything bc they're "just a lil guy". i love a character that is flawed. i love a character who is fuckin going through it, making mistakes, and going through the steps to rectify and fix those mistakes. there is no such thing as a character who can do no wrong bc that's just unfuckingrealistic and i need people to stop pretending these characters who have made shitty mistakes haven't. or that their lives are really hard bc one other character was mean to them once. and this usually happens to the pretty male character, the himbo if i may. and i love my himbos bc they're fucking stupid and make mistakes, do you get me? i'm stopping myself here bc i could probably keep going but it's going to become less articulate.
make me choose violence

Sorry for the long post but this has been on my mind for a while and I kinda just wanna get it all out, also I am not an authority on this topic nor am trying to be treated as such, this is based on my life and perspective and what I've seen, keep that in mind, but yeah ANYWAY
I still see a lot of people who are tempted to respond to the right's stance on minimum wage by pointing out that no, not all the people working at McDonald's are teenagers who want some walking around money, there are fully grown adult employees trying to support their families and they obviously deserve a living wage, but I can't help but think that's kinda missing the point of what they're really getting at.
They don't actually think there aren't adults working at McDonald's(or poor teenagers who are supporting their family), they know that, they just think if you're working at McDonald's it's because you've done something wrong, and thus you deserve to be punished by society for it(or in the case of the teenagers their parents did something wrong in which case it's justified to punish their whole family, or the teenager did something wrong even bcs see they should be trying to better themselves and if they aren't it means they're making a mistake and deserve to be punished).
People repeat "the cruelty is the point" a lot but I don't think some of us realize exactly how true that is. To the right there is a correct path one's life is supposed to take and any deviation should be punished. When the left says "hey maybe we could fix some of those things that cause people to make mistakes/end up in bad places" the right doesn't listen bcs they don't believe there's anything to fix. Society is working exactly the way it's supposed to, in fact the real problem is that there isn't enough punishment.
To paraphrase an Innuendo Studios video that opened my eyes on this topic if right doesn't care about, say, stopping abortions, not really, they simply want to punish the people who get them. They know their solution won't stop anyone, they know it will just lead to people with uteruses dying or getting sick, but that's fine because good people don't get abortions, good people don't wind up sick or dead, so if you do you must be a bad person, and bad people should be punished.
Ofc they will prove to be hypocrites when they're the ones who need help, justifying why they deserve a safe abortion or whatever bcs they're a good person! They didn't do anything wrong! They're just rectifying a discrepancy! And they don't think of a second that the rest of the people getting abortions are ALSO good people who deserve safe healthcare and happy lives, bcs if there aren't bad people getting punished then how will they know that they're good people??
(It's the same with defending sexual abusers too, those boys are good men who just made a tiny little mistake, or were seduced, or just did what normal men do! We should forgive them bcs they're rich or powerful or white and rich, powerful, white men are good people. Plus, the women...well they made the real mistake by not protecting themselves better. By dressing slutty or going to a bar, and now they're trying to ruin this poor guy's life over their fuck-up? That's the real evil, that's what should actually be punished!)
So if you work at McDonald's as an adult who's trying to support yourself and your family you did something wrong and you should be punished. If you're sick or a victim of sexual violence and need healthcare or an abortion you did something wrong and should be punished. If you come here seeking asylum then you did something wrong and you AND your family should be punished. Things like this don't happen to good people(even though they do), they only happen to bad people, and bad people should be punished.
It's like that Demention 20 clip, about how these people think places like coffee shops should exist BUT it should suck to work there. It sucking is the punishment. The only people working there are ones who've clearly made some sort of mistake, and thus it's correct for them to suffer, because people who make mistakes are bad, and bad people deserve be punished.
Going deeper, to what I think the real root of a lot of this is, it ties back into the fact that the majority of the far right is christian and a lot of christians believe that if they're good and live their lives correctly and pray to god and give the church money good things will happen to them, and the people who are suffering have fallen out of god's favor, and thus are bad people who deserve to be punished. I've been to a lot of churches here in America and trust me, that is EXACTLY what a lot of them preach, basically word for word. Bad things don't happen to good people, so if bad things are happening to you you must have done something wrong, so pray harder, repent, and deal with your punishment until you fall back into god's favor and are thus once again a Good Person.
(That's also why a lot of them will try to convert the people they try to help through charity, bcs they believe if you are christian good things will happen to you. They genuinely think converting people is just as helpful as donating money to a food bank or volunteering at a soup kitchen. Because good things happen to christians, so being one will make your life better...or will at least mean you get to go to heaven when you die and hey, then you won't suffer anymore!)
And ofc you can't point out that a lot of their leaders are fucking hypocrites who don't live by these rules at all and are in fact just asshole capitalists who only care about money and power bcs they pretend to follow the rules and still put those rules into law and that's enough to convince the right to vote for them. It's part of why Trump was right, he could shoot someone in the middle of the street and not lose any votes, bcs his base is convinced he's a Good Person and good people don't do bad things, even when they do.
That's also why horrible laws get passed so easily by them, they just sit there and go "Why are you worried? This will only punish bad people. If you're a good person you won't suffer. And if you're not, well just try to be good, follow our rules, act how we say, then you'll be safe. You have nothing to fear unless you're bad, and you're not bad, are you?" They don't care how cruel they are or how many people suffer because the cruelty and suffering Is The Point.
Idk where I'm going with this anymore or what the solution is but realizing this really made a lot of things about the right Make More Sense and it helps to know that you can't really argue with them by talking about how people are suffering and we should, like, help them, bcs they believe the suffering is correct and justified and the only solution is MORE cruelty and punishment and suffering. They don't care that there are people struggling to pay rent and feed their kids bcs they make less than minimum wage bcs those people shouldn't have a minimum wage job and if they do they made a mistake and should be punished. Unhoused people? Hungry kids who can't afford lunch? Teenagers who need abortions? Families feeing violence and poverty by seeking asylum? Addicts? Victims of abuse? The disabled? They're all bad people who made mistakes and should be punished.
There are only good people and bad people and how will we know who the good ones are if the bad ones aren't suffering and being punished? And the left is crazy bcs they're trying to HELP the bad people. Don't they know the bad people need to be punished? There has to be a clear line between good and bad! Soon they'll make everyone think WE'RE the bad people and that's not true! We're good people, we live our lives the right way, we deserve to be treated as special, to be rewarded, they're trying to take that away from us! Force us to lay down and be treated like bad people, force us to respect the bad people, treat them as equals, treat them like they're better than us, turn our children into bad people, how could they do that?
We have to make sure that the bad people are punished and the good rewarded.
The cruelty IS the point.

The order of how protective Ace’s original team is of him, ofc since Striker all of them are very protective and watchful of him but their ranking from least to highest
Spadille (alola form marowak) was the last Pokemon Ace caught for his competitive roster, their bond is very strong but being a shyer type, Spadille prefers to only show its support when Ace really needs it, otherwise he feels like he should give his trainer space but that doesn’t mean it cares any less, a worrier from afar
Hotaru (Talonflame) the first pokemon Ace ever caught with Striker at his side, he has the privilege of being the unofficial “second in command” since Striker’s passing, he has known Ace the longest and ensures Ace that he trusts his judgement and reinforces how loyal he is to his trainer, but still keeps a keen eye on him
Banshee (Salazzle) is middle ground protective of Ace because she is so picky, some days she thinks Ace needs to get over it but thats because she’s a little self absorbed but then realises her prior behaviour and immediately goes to rectify her self perceived mistakes (which is none but dont tell her her ego is huge shdh) she’s very indebted to Ace for accepting her white scale pattern (she’s officially a shiny salazzle) when her own clan did not
Kyokaen (ninetales) very protective of Ace but his pride and aloofness prevent him from being too obvious about just how much he cares, thanks to Ace he’s been able to travel outside of his island and get stronger, likes to think he does all the protecting Ace duties but there’s one Pokémon that somehow surpasses him
Cornelia (houndoom) the most protective of Ace, like trigger happy protective if you so much as sneeze in his direction she will leave her pokeball to snap and snarl and set her jaws on fire because LEAVE HIM ALONE!! And Ace has to grab her back by her scarf (yeah all his pokemon have accessories but Cornelia’s scarf has her mega stone sewn in to it) she’s the easiest to set off but she only means well, but huge demonic canine usually gets the message across

Title: Going Through Motions{1}
Tumblr media
Title: Going Through Motions {1}
Steve Rogers X Reader OFC Korral “Korri” Evans
Warning: Plot
Word Count: 1.9K
Summary: You and Steve had a hot, passionate, and wild romance seven years ago when you worked with the Avengers. It was the best year of your life; you’d never felt the things you’d felt in all your life. Then out of nowhere, Steve just ended things—in a letter. A heartbreaking letter, then the world deemed him a criminal, and he disappeared. Now, you’ve moved on and have gotten engaged to rich man Marc Spector. Tony brings you back to work with the newly rebuilt Avengers that is still led by Captain America who is definitely done asking for permission and not looking for forgiveness. Or is he?
Note: So, for this fic, we are going to alter the MCU timeline a bit. This takes place after Civil War, but Infinity War has not happened yet. Steve is off the grid for seven years before he comes back. {I know that’s a long time, but let me rock please} Also, I’m going to be introing/adding in Moon Knight (Marc Spector) in just because I feel like it and I want to start exploring other Marvel characters and of course I will twist him to serve my purposes.
**Loosley Proofread/edited**

Tumblr media
“What do you mean?”
“What’s not to understand? The Avengers are being put back together,” Tony exclaimed with a clap of his hands. Korral stood there gaping at him convinced he’d lost his mind. The Avengers had been broken up for the last near seven years. They were all sprawled out across the world doing god knows what. The CIA, FBI, SHIELD and every government entity had an order that if any of them were seen they were to be immediately apprehended if safe to do so and if they put up a fight they were to shoot to kill. That was the order for all except Steve; he was shoot to kill on sight.
“Tony, I don’t understand.” He continued to walk, not caring that you’d stopped in the hall trying to make sense of his words. You scurried to catch up and made it just in time before the elevator doors closed. You pressed your back to the glass wall and took a deep breath.
“Explain it to me, please.” Tony took a deep breath and paused his tapping into the tablet he held.
“Right now, we are going down to the conference room that I hate the most to sit with the powers that be who think they’re in charge of the world’s defenses--,” he said normally before his voice dropped to a less than discreet whisper. “They’re really not,” he finished before pointing a self-gratifying finger to himself. Shaking your head, you stifled a scoff; this was nothing new, this was Tony. You didn’t mind, after working with him for the last ten years you’d gotten to know him pretty well.
“What are we meeting with them for? I thought we hated them after the fallout.” Tony nodded and continued tapping into the tablet.
“Oh, we do still hate them, but keep your enemies closer, remember.” You nodded because it was rule number two around here. “So. we’re going to meet them so they can officially gloss over their shortcomings in the last year to generously drop the charges against our friends,” he explained. You couldn’t believe what he was saying. The elevator stopped at the bottom floor, and Tony walked off, you remained still trying to catch up. You felt like you were in an alternate universe. “When did all this happen?” Again, you looked beside you and Tony wasn’t there, he was halfway across the lobby. You ran to him.
“Last night,” he said before he stopped and looked at you. “Are you okay?” He had to be kidding. You currently had whiplash. You had no idea any of this was in the works. “Korral!” Tony shouted your name and snapped his fingers before your face. You focused on him. “Yes, I’m fine.” He studied you, and you wondered if he was using his high-tech glasses to scan you. “I’m fine. I just needed a minute to catch up. What do you need from me?” Tony started walking again, and it was then you saw the obscene amount of security agents standing around.
“I’ve sent it to your tablet. I also want you to tally how many times one or more of them says this phrase sequence “our decision.” I’m placing my bet now that it’ll be more than twenty. What’s yours?” As you looked around you and accessed those around you, you tried to get control over your nervousness. If this order actually went through it meant a lot. It meant a hell of a lot. Shaking your head, you straightened your back and pasted a calm, detached expression to your face. “Twenty is lowballing it, go big or go home, I call every other sentence.” Tony smiled and nodded. “I like the way you think Evans.”
The two of you walked toward the conference room, three secret agents stopped you and scanned your bodies with a wand no doubt checking for weapons. They were right to check. The wand beeped ferociously at Tony’s chest, and he gave them a “are you serious” look before they allowed him through the conference doors. When it was your turn, they looked over you but didn’t scan. They just nodded their head to let you through. They clearly didn’t think you were a threat. When you walked into the room there were seven powerful-looking men and dozens of others standing around. You quickly surveyed the room and made a note of everyone. Most were familiar faces, but there were a few that were all new to you.
As you and Tony took your seats you scanned the file Tony sent you and smiled at the top disclaimer. “Don’t trust any of them, especially the one with the brown suit and purple tie, who wears purple and brown?” Pinching your lips, you tried to keep a professional exterior. The Secretary of State began his spiel; he looked less than happy to be saying the words. No doubt he hated to admit that the world needed the Avengers. Since their disbandment and the kill orders, chaos was everywhere, and threats came from left and right. They were stretched thin and quickly came to regret their decisions, but like the government, they also hated to admit their wrongdoings and make a change. That meant they would have to be right here in front of Tony and Tony was a less than gracious winner.
Just as expected, every sentence showcased that they had come to this decision with no outside influence. Every time he said it Tony sent a message to you keeping tally of it. By the time the Secretary of State finished, it had easily been thirty minutes.  “So, let me get this right; you’re here with your tail between your legs admitting that you made a mistake, a very horrible mistake and now it’s your decision to rectify it? is that right?” You smirked and pinched your lips again. Of course Secretary of State Ross didn’t respond. Instead, he nodded his head to one of the many heads in the room. From the back, a young woman gathered a few folders and placed them in front of all who sat at the conference table. You opened the folder and saw images of the people you’d worked with for years and who you hadn’t physically seen in too long.
“Glad to see you’re still the same Stark.” Tony looked in the folder. “I don’t know who you want me to turn into Ross; I can only be me.” You slowly flipped through the images, Clint, Sam, Wanda, Vision, Natasha and him. You stopped at his picture and almost audibly gasped, you didn’t expect he would be part of this deal. You thought it would be just the others. Your heart began pounding rapidly, and you slowly went over every detail of his face, every minuscule wrinkle, each bushy eyebrow, his defined nose, and equally defined jaw and his lips. Lips you’d surprisingly fell in love with. He was gorgeous. It had been seven years since you’d seen him, there was no indicating he looked this way anymore. He could have aged, wrinkled, something.
“Do you want this to happen or not?” You brought your attention back to him those in the room and glanced at Tony who took a deep breath. “Continue.” Secretary Ross went over the details of the deal which primarily spoke of each of them having to remain on the straight and narrow and follow the rules that had been in place before everything went to shit. You knew they wouldn’t support the accords, that was never going to happen. A message came in from Tony, and he knew it too, but with Tony, he knew how to keep his hand hidden to make it seem he was playing ball. “You’re responsible Stark. This will blow back on you if this goes south—again,” Secretary Ross finished.
Tony held up two of his fingers; “On my honor as a boy scout Ross. Cross my heart and hope to die.” He did the actual action for emphasis. “We’ll see. Let’s get this over with.” Tony took out his pen and signed his name then slid the folder to the center of the table. Across the table, Secretary Ross did the same, but unlike Tony, he didn’t look so confident, it was as if he expected this to go bad. Honestly, you didn’t know what to expect. Another ten minutes passed, and the meeting finished. You excused yourself to the ladies’ room and stared at yourself in the mirror for far too long trying to get a grasp on everything that had just happened.
When you walked into Tony’s office thirty minutes later, he stood and waved you over. You hurried to his desk and listened to the tail end of his conversation. “It’s only a matter of time now. I expect the announcement tonight or tomorrow. I’ll keep you posted.” He turned to you and smiled. “Ready for things to get a lot louder around here?” You scoffed. He couldn’t be serious. You nodded and did your best to smile. “Tony, does this include—him?” As if for the first time realizing your struggle Tony’s expression softened. “Steve. Uh, yeah. His terms are slightly different though; because of his role in breaking the others out and aiding and abetting Bucky they think his morals are compromised.” You nodded. You weren’t surprised by his actions once you’d learned of them. You and Steve had several long conversations where he told you all about his friendship with Bucky and his regrets over the years. Steve was as loyal as they came. That was one of the traits that solidified the decision to make him Captain America back in the day. He was goodness.
“So, what are his terms?” Tony took a bottle of water out the mini-fridge and drank from it. “Well, they definitely want him to sign the accords and sort of agree to be surveilled,” he rushed out. You snorted. “That’s not happening Tony.” He nodded. “Oh, I know, but they don’t know that.”
You were used to the ride the slope of right and wrong with Tony. “Why would you go out on a limb knowing he wouldn’t agree, especially after everything that happened between you?” Tony sighed and looked out over the setting sun of the New York skyline. “Seven years is a long time Korral. I’ve had a lot of time to think and see things differently and from other perspectives. You can thank Pepper for that.” You smiled; Pepper did make him more human. It was sweet. “I understand. Plus, he’s Captain America, he’s Earth’s best defender.” You couldn’t help but laugh out loud. Tony nodded his head and walked away. “Laugh it up. I know you’re laughing to hide the fact that you’re freaking out about this especially given the nature of your relationship back then and the state of your relationship with Marc currently.”
Yeah, he called you out—extra loud. “Wow.” Tony smiled again and sat behind his desk. “If those are the terms, he won’t come back Tony. There is no way in hell he would come back on the grid to be controlled. You know Steve.” He sat there studying you. “Is it that you truly believe he won’t come back or you’re afraid he will?” You shook your head, rolled your eyes and looked out the window. “He won’t come back,” you finalized before you turned and walked to the door. “Good night.” There would be nothing in the world that would drag him back into the light especially to give up his freedom.

Hakuoki: Edo Blossoms Part 13 - Hijikata Toshizo Route
Tumblr media
It’s tough to see Hijikata having the time being so soft towards Chizuru to make her feel less useless when he’s already so stressed from having to be the only one capable of leading the Shinsengumi now… It’s hard to not, especially when Kondou had voiced that if he were the shogun, he would have fought with however men he had to the last one standing and then killed himself in honourable suicide rather than run away. Lmao when Chizuru got excited that she could be useful to Hijikata by being his blood bag, like I understand, but you’ve gotta have more use than that?! Lol. Nice that Kondou is back to bear some burdens with Hijikata now! Every time I see Hijikata in the Western clothes, I lament the loss of his long beautiful black hair, it suited him so well😭😭 He still looks good though so oh well… I was so touched when Hijikata told her to take out her kodachi, and then he took out his own sword and bumped the blades together, he recognises her! She may be weak, but to swear an oath like samurai that she’ll definitely not die and take care of Kondou in his place (since Hijikata’s getting reinforcements for the Kofu Castle fight), it was so nice to see how much he trusts her and believes in her. Seeing the both of them promise each other that they’ll both come out of this alive makes me happy haha.
I think I can understand better through Hijikata’s route why Kondou was so hesitant to retreat at Kofu Castle. He told Hijikata that he would never flee in adversity and would rather die than do that, so I think he didn’t think that he should escape even if they were outnumbered and clearly outclassed by the enemies as well. I think the main thing he didn’t take into consideration was that this isn’t the last battle and, he and no one should be sacrificed when there is still a chance to fight back in the future instead of wasting their lives here in a battle that they’re obviously going to brutally lose. And I think I can see even more why Kondou will choose to sacrifice himself to the army to protect the Shinsengumi. The deaths incurred here and his escape are already weighing so heavily on him to the point that he feels that he should kill himself to make up for all the men that had died senselessly, it’s pretty terrible… I…kind of wish that Kondou never found out that Hijikata turned into a Fury, because it’s just so saddening to see the pain they both have to bear because of that fact. Even if Hijikata doesn’t regret it, it doesn’t change the fact that he’s become the monster that the previous chief was, and Kondou would think that this was because he wasn’t there and was weak. Kondou is so soft hearted that it’s probably too much for him to bear. Everyone wanted to grant him the dream of becoming a true samurai and that’s why they were all here, and yet everyone is dying and suffering so much more than him, it must be hard to bear, especially when he doesn’t think that he is or should be the most crucial person in the Shinsengumi anymore…
I do like how Chizuru is like the one to keep Hijikata in check, so he can kinda have a break from the Shinsengumi stuff. Lmao when Hijikata said he’d cut her himself to get her blood when she was about to slice her finger, and then he goes for her neck! Like, Hijikata, she never gave permission for somewhere that close and personal! Hahahah, it was a good CG though😋🥰 Although I laugh at Chizuru being happy to be Hijikata’s blood bag, at the same time, I think I can understand her feelings. She’s obviously useless in terms of the greater picture, she doesn’t have the physical power, status or anything to really do anything impactful for the war etc, so being able to be the survival tool for a person that can actually change things is probably an honour in a sense. It’s really saddening to see how deflated Kondou had become, I’m sure Harada and Nagakura leaving made him feel like he was even more unworthy as the chief and that Hijikata should just lead everyone. I think I can see why he acted the way he did in Nagakura and Harada’s routes now. When you see how little confidence Kondou has now, how depressed he is, how tired he is and everything, why would he do anything to stop them from leaving? He doesn’t even think of himself as a person worthy of people following him anymore… Despite understanding Kondou’s sentiments before his surrender, I can’t help but feel so sad that everything turned out like this, especially for Hijikata. Having to let Kondou sacrifice himself for them and not being able to do anything because he was set on it, and knowing how much pain Kondou carries with him because of his poor decisions, it kills me. I wanted Kondou to have a chance to rectify his mistakes and lead everyone again, it’s so painful and heartbreaking to see him succumb to his guilt that so many people have died, Hijikata became a Fury and he feels that it’s all his fault. But it must be so difficult for Hijikata. Not only is the Shinsengumi already shattering, but the soul of the Shinsengumi, the reason Hijikata fought all this time, Kondou is giving away his life like this, it’s like, what’s the point of anything now if Kondou, the person they were fighting for is gone?
Sometimes, I feel like such a crybaby playing Hakuoki. But I honestly couldn’t stop crying when Hijikata turned his back to Chizuru and started screaming about…everything really. About how he didn’t do all this to have Kondou be captured like this in the end, he didn’t work so hard just to run away like this, he didn’t fight so hard for himself, he fought for Kondou, for recognition by people… It was honestly so heartbreaking to see Hijikata in so much pain. I feel so terrible that Hijikata always has to be the one to carry everyone’s dreams, all their burdens, all their deaths, all their grief, all their expectations, all their hopes… It’s just so devastatingly hard for one person to carry… It was so difficult to watch Hijikata lie to Okita that Kondou was fine. He knew that if Okita found out, he wouldn’t be able to handle it, he definitely wouldn’t…and that pains me. I’m not the biggest fan of Okita’s obsession with Kondou, but I feel like I can understand to an extent, and I can just feel Okita breaking the moment he hears about it. I honestly don’t know what I would have done if I was Hijikata, but I do recognise that him making this decision means that not only is he carrying the burden of the lie, he is also carrying on Okita’s future hatred towards him for not letting him know about Kondou. But Hijikata is willing to shoulder it as long as Okita lives, and that just makes me so terribly sad…
It must be pretty devastating for Hijikata, not only is Kondou gone, but he found out that the Katsu guy (who gave them weapons etc) sacrificed the Shinsengumi and them at Kofu Castle to cosy up with the Imperial Army. It honestly felt so chilling when Hijikata killed the guy in his group that tried to run because he thought Hijikata wanting to break through Utsunomiya castle when the latter had guns was crazy. Hijikata is so reckless and apathetic to the idea of death right now that I’m scared for him… But I guess it was understandable, since if they all decided to panic like that guy, then they’d definitely all die. At least the rest of the group found their courage and hope again when Hijikata managed to open the castle gate and charge through bullets fearlessly.. I think the worst was that he faced off against Kazama, barely survived, but then the castle ended up being recaptured by the Imperial Army after a few days. Their win was short lived and only temporary, it pretty much reflects their current situation…even if there are small victories for the Shinsengumi, it’s practically impossible for them to really win this war at all. I’m glad Chizuru scolded him for working the moment he could get up and move, seriously, he’s so reckless! Also glad that Otori told him off for his actions, and then Hijikata remembered that Yamazaki said the same things to him before. It’s nice to see Hijikata genuinely apologetic for how reckless and dangerous the actions he took were, with disregard to the consequences if he were to die. Needless to say, I was pretty heartbroken when Saito revealed that he had become a Fury as well. It’s saddening that all this weight and responsibility is pushed on to Hijikata, but it’s true that no one can be the pillar for the Shinsengumi besides him.
It’s sad to see Saito and Hijikata part ways, but it is inevitable. At least, everyone still has the attitude/mentality of being prepared to die for what they believe in, but not yielding and expecting to die. I think I like the Kodo in this route and Kazama’s the most (besides Kazama’s route ofc). He didn’t really hurt Chizuru here, and honestly told her his hopes of creating a kingdom where only the Yukimura clan will rule as he kills everyone else who caused the destruction of their clan alongside the Demons that didn’t help them. He knew it was reckless and that the Furies had no future, but he couldn’t help but do what he felt he needed to do as the only surviving adult of the clan. It was impossible for him to let go of that hatred and live on even if he was unlikely to succeed. He isn’t as crazy as the other ones in the other routes where he tries to force Chizuru to breed etc (or maybe he didn’t get the chance to haha), instead, it was shown that he was clearly conflicted. Conflicted between these emotions that he could never let go of, and wanting the best for Chizuru. I guess it’s one of the more believable ones where you could see how much he loved her, instead of the other routes where he would be going after her like a crazy guy and then suddenly he would save her from a Fury lol. I’m also happy to see the Sanan that just wanted a way to save the Furies from disappearing into dust, but also rational enough to understand that Furies were a mistake, and they shouldn’t let this mistake continue to destroy others. I legit cried when it was apparent that Sanan and Heisuke had reached their limits… It was so heartbreaking to have to see Hijikata face the death of his long time comrades like this, and hold their hands and hopes as they eventually crumbled into dust. It’s like every step Hijikata takes, he further carries the hopes of more and more people. He’s the only one they can rely on and believe in, but what about Hijikata? It’s so devastating that everything that has happened is crushing him on the inside, but it’s also because of everything that has happened that he won’t allow himself to be crushed.
Tumblr media
It broke my heart when Hijikata left Chizuru behind and said he couldn’t make her happy😭😭 It’s true, and it’s also true that she could have a much “better” life by not following the Shinsengumi to Ezo, and I love how considerate Hijikata was towards her when he contemplated where she could go, but it still pains me to see Hijikata leaving her. It basically means this is the end, and that he doesn’t think that there’s a high chance of him coming back. I’m surprised that Otori really summoned her to Ezo, guess he was touched that she’s determined and thinks that Hijikata shouldn’t have pushed her away? I see, he thinks that Chizuru needs to be there to help with Hijikata’s mental health. I agree though, Chizuru has always been the one to give him little breaks and make him think about silly things outside of the worries of the Shinsengumi, I think she really brightened up his world in simple ways, so without her, I can see why he would lock himself in his room most of the time, especially since a lot of the time, Chizuru forced him to eat or have tiny breaks. Just her presence probably saved him. I thought Chizuru was so cool when she ripped up the orders for her to come here in front of Hijikata and told him straight that she shouldn’t have relied on them, she didn’t need that excuse to come here, she wants to be with Hijikata and that’s all, she doesn’t need any other reason to be here. I honestly was touched by her words even though I already knew how she felt. I’m so happy that Chizuru got through to him, and never gave up on him, I’m glad that her perseverance got to him. After all, it’s hard for Hijikata to voice to the ones in the Shinsengumi whether his decisions are correct and question whether he’s really doing the right thing…
With Hijikata having admitted his feelings, he’s really not embarrassed at all to say things to others so straightforwardly huh! I’m so embarrassed but happy for Chizuru that he’s obviously cherishing her so much! It was really touching to see Hijikata pour sake personally for his men, it really must have raised their morale, although it’s saddening to think that many of them won’t be able to keep their promise with Hijikata to come back from battle and get drunk with him instead of just being able to drink one cup. I’m glad Chizuru is there to motivate Hijikata and everyone else to live and come back, rather than to throw their lives away for their cause. They still have many things to do! They can’t die yet! Right after Hijikata nearly died from a fatal wound from a bullet, and Chizuru gave her blood to save him, Kazama appears?! Can you nottttt! But I’m impressed, Kazama followed what Hijikata had done all this time and in a sense had respect for him, he even took back calling him a ‘fake’ and acknowledged him as a true Demon. With how much pride Kazama has, that is definitely a great compliment. I just didn’t expect the title drop to be what Kazama named Hijikata as a Demon; Hakuoki huh? I never really looked properly at the kanji that makes up Hakuoki, but I see why there’s cherry blossoms and everything now, it’s kinda like it means that Hijikata is a Demon of lightly coloured cherry blossoms? I’m kinda sad that Kazama had to die in the duel though.. but it was nice to see everything resolved and them being able to spend the last moments of their life together even if it’s limited.
Overall, I enjoyed the first half, but I think the latter bits were rather rushed or anticlimactic in a sense with how the ending was handled. I feel like Kazama’s and Hijikata’s relationship was dealt with rather haphazardly and so quickly that I didn’t have much time to really digest how everything ended up. It was also rather anticlimactic that after following Hijikata on his journey all this time, we never really got to see the “end” of the Shinsengumi aside from a few lines, and we never really got to see his reaction to everything since he seemed so satisfied (after the dream etc) to leave everything to the others, it doesn’t really feel like Hijikata to not want to know more, I guess? Bad endings etc were pretty boring and basic usual stuff haha.
Otherwise, I enjoyed Hijikata’s route, it was nice, it was sweet, I liked how supportive Chizuru was the whole way and how she kept him sane by being there for him and trying her best for him. As someone who devoted everything to the Shinsengumi, I think Hijikata needed someone who would devote their all to him, since he never really had the time to really care for himself. I also really liked Hijikata himself and how he reacted and dealt with all the emotionally tolling events, I think the route really expressed how tiring and how mentally drained he was, yet how he continued to persevere regardless. It’s not one of my top favourites but I enjoyed it haha. I’m gonna miss Hakuoki though😭 I can’t believe I’m done with it…
Mini review Honestly, Hakuoki was better than I thought imo. I expected lots of Japanese history and lack of romance, and I did get that haha, but I think I underestimated how heart breaking the Japanese history was on me, because I legit cried in most of the routes and I felt like I could really feel the emotions of the characters and what they had to go through. Chizuru is a heroine with many flaws but I did enjoy how she connected and supported the guys in most of the routes despite it. I think she matched well with quite a few of them, and really, with all the responsibilities and everything the guys were shouldering, romance was definitely not a priority haha. However, when they properly incorporated the romance (unlike the Nagakura route lol), I think it worked very nicely and was sweet.
Here are my favourites to least favourites: Heisuke and Kazama tied, Souma, Yamazaki, Iba, Hijikata, Okita, Saito, Nagakura, Sakamoto, Sanan and Harada.
Best on romance: Heisuke, Okita, Yamazaki Best on plot: Souma, maybe Iba? Best balance between the two: Kazama
So honestly, I’d say Kazama is my favourite route, but dang did Heisuke tug on my heartstrings so much with his pain and his chemistry with Chizuru, so I can’t say I liked Kazama more hahaha. Souma showed the best perspective of watching over all that happened with the Shinsengumi in a personal yet outsider perspective as he’s not a captain, and I think I felt that I understood the flow and weight of everything in history best with his route, but it really lacked in the romance department haha. Okita and Chizuru were so cute and I loved them when he wasn’t being annoying about Kondou and Hijikata, and Iba was a bit obsessed with the protection part but he was still cute. I was so happy that Yamazaki could finally survive in his own route and how Chizuru and he worked together behind the scenes to care for the Shinsengumi and their goals, that was nice. So yeah, I’d totally play Hakuoki again in the future or if they do another port, I’d definitely buy it hahaha. 10/10 worth it, worth my tears, worth my love hahaha, the 120 hours I spent on this were well spent for sure. I hope they do an Amagiri route in the futuree😆

lotor & hagerva
i was just thinking— remember that part in s05e03 when lotor is determined to get to kral zera to claim the throne
Tumblr media
have we talked about how shiro aka kuron aka hagerva was so adamant that lotor definitely get to kral zera, despite the opposition from the others during this scene...
Tumblr media
you know? hagerva even gets kuron to pull rank and be like “ok palahoes, this is my show so we’re doing it my way” until he eventually even screams in lance’s face and storms off @ which the others kinda go “hmm thats kinda ooc?” (but we know ofc that this is all hag’s doing right)
so isnt it funny that at kral zera, she basically tells lotor to fuck off because he’s not worthy of the throne
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
he makes the most annoyed face at her when she says this—i guess we know why now post-s6, because she’s talking about honerva in 3rd person when lotor damn well knows they are the same person lol
anyways, what im trying to get at is, was this hags plan all along here? get kuron to help lotor out eventually so he can get to kral zera and take the throne, and then in person tell lotor to “fuck off” & remind him that hes only “half galra”, because she knows it’ll hit him where it hurts, and how that’ll actually bolster his desire to take the throne, especially now that he knows she openly defies it...?
i guess what im saying is, it seems like she wanted him to be emperor, for whatever reasons she has. but now in s6—now that he’s gone and is chilling with the rift creatures in the space garbage disposal— will she bring him back?
like, was his position as emperor integral to her evil objectives and will she bother getting him back for that? in s06e05 she does admit that she doesnt have that maternal affection for him anyway so her saving him from the rift would mean he’s a big part of her plans maybe... (edit: as @sailingthroughemotion corrected me, she says as ‘haggar’ she wasnt able to be the mother he needed, but perhaps as honerva she might try & rectify their relationship and that could also be why she saves him from the rift) (she also refers to the “quintessence/ colony” stuff & how she knows he’s been handling her work etc but we dont entirely know wtf that means- esp if you disregard romelle’s claims...)
and since it was confirmed by barlee, i believe, that hags is the big bad going forward, we get a lot more of her story. that leads me to believe that lotor will definitely be back to play a role in the final game (but against hagerva ofc)... hell, this scene here (as the lotura discord have talked about) sounds a lot like foreshadow. talking about some big eventual showdown:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
sorry if i made mistakes or said the wrong thing as im writing this w/very minimal knowledge of s6!!
i want to end on the note that lotor looks sexy as fuck w/his angry furrowing brows ✨

Pretty sure you already have a plethora of writing requests stacked up but could you do some Shimada angst of the night Hanzo killed Genji (when you have time ofc)
…It’s Shimada auntie time.
One could see Shimada castle and most of the city from the Shimada family plot. It was a late, long-shadowed hour, with the angle of the sun glaring off some of the buildings’ windows. Hanzo was on one knee in front of the grave while Yuriko stood next to it, one hand on the headstone. It reminded Hanzo of the way she would touch his fathers’ shoulder when calling him away from dinner to address clan matters. Hanzo’s eyes flicked over to his mother’s headstone at the thought of it. It was older than Sojiro’s headstone, but only by a few years. Hanzo’s eyes finally trailed up from the headstone to the tall, dignified figure of his aunt. She was dressed smartly–collared dress shirt, high waisted pants and suspenders with a black and white haori resting on her shoulders. Yuriko’s gray-flecked hair was piled on her head in a pompadour-like updo, but it tumbled past her shoulders and down her back as she pulled a few pins from it, looking out at the city.
“How bad was it?” asked Hanzo.
“I’ve cleaned up most of the mess,” said Yuriko, shaking her hair out, “The Inago Gang is still grumbling, but Noriyuki trusts me. He’ll keep them in line. He knows whats good for them in the long run.”
“Good,” said Hanzo, folding his arms against himself, “Good–”
“Not good, Hanzo. These are footmen. The hierarchy is supposed to be clear. If a gang as lowly as the Inago are raising this much hell, it shows how vulnerable we are to the other families.”
“The council—” Hanzo started.
“Continue to be very vocal in their doubts about the strength of the main branch as Clan leaders,” said Yuriko, “Hideyoshi can’t pacify them like he used to.”
Hanzo’s lips thinned.
“If the main branch loses power, it’ll be a vacuum. A bloodbath. We’ll collapse on ourselves,” Yuriko went on. She looked down at Sojiro’s grave and lifted her hand from Sojiro’s grave and put it on Hanzo’s shoulder. “We need to talk about Genji.”
“He’s grieving—” Hanzo started.
“There’s grieving,” said Yuriko, pulling out her phone, “And then there’s being a liability,” she showed Hanzo a picture of Genji–clearly drunk, surrounded by beautiful, laughing people.
“Genji was always…” Hanzo trailed off.
“Look closer,” said Yuriko, zooming in on a figure in the background of the photo. Hanzo noticed a koi tattoo creeping up the neck of a grim looking man in the background.
“Teiji Furukawa,” said Yuriko, furrowing her brow, “He’s not even avoiding having his picture taken. The Furukawa clan wouldn’t send out a hatchet man this high up unless they wanted to send a message,” she withdrew her phone from him and sighed, “Genji isn’t just your problem anymore. He’s the clan’s problem. He’s been the clan’s problem, and neither of us have been willing to face up to that.”
“I’ll talk to him,” said Hanzo.
“You’ve been talking to him ever since Sojiro passed,” said Yuriko, “Whatever you’re saying isn’t sinking in. If he can’t step up to clan duties,” Yuriko took a breath and tucked some of her hair back, wearily, “Then there have to be consequences.”
Her hand lingered at her hair for less than a second. Hanzo’s eyes always flicked to the stub of her missing pinky when she tucked her hair back, even when his father had told him it was rude to stare.
Consequences. Hanzo’s stomach tightened at the word.
“There has to be a better option,” said Hanzo, “Perhaps exile—”
“And leave him vulnerable to act as an informant to law enforcement or our enemies?” said Yuriko, “You know we can’t allow that.”
Hanzo was silent, staring at Sojiro’s grave.
“Do you think saying this is any easier for me?” said Yuriko, “You and Genji are all I have left of my brother. All I have left of one of one of my dearest friends. But this is bigger than what I want. The interests of the clan must always take priority over our own feelings on the matter,” she sighed, “This is a mistake of Sojiro’s as well… We can’t make the same mistake. We have to rectify it.”
Hanzo kept his eyes fixed on the headstone.
“This isn’t a burden you should bear so soon after losing him,” said Yuriko, putting her four-fingered hand on his shoulder, “I know–”
“I know it is my duty,” said Hanzo, finally breaking his sight away from the grave to look at her, “Give me a chance to speak to him. Give him one last chance to take his place in the clan.”
“You are the scion,” said Yuriko, “You don’t need my permission. Ultimately how you carry out your duty is up to you.”
—–
2 Days Later
—–
It was a little after midnight when a sleek black car crookedly parked in a Hanamura parking garage and Yuriko emerged from it.
“Hanzo!?” Yuriko called as she slammed the car door shut and looked around the garage.
“Boss, are you sure we should be leaving the castle security this sparse–” an enforcer spoke in her earpiece.
“Finding the scion takes priority,” said Yuriko, keeping one hand on the tanto at her hip, as she looked around the garage, “Stand by near the exits, and keep in contact with other search parties. Keep searching the city. Keep in contact with the Inago and Hikigaeru gangs and maintain our numbers on the streets. We need to keep this as quiet as possible. As far as the other gangs are concerned, everything is proceeding as normal for us.”
“Sure we shouldn’t get a cleanup crew on the bodies back at the castle?” said the enforcer.
“They aren’t going anywhere,” said Yuriko, “We’ll get them when we’re sure Lord Shimada’s back home safe.”
“Understood, Boss,” said the enforcer, clicking out of the comm.
“Hanzo?!” Yuriko called, her voice echoing through the cold garage, “Hanzo–where are you? Han–!?” She cut herself off and cursed under her breath as she undid the buttons at the cuff of her dress shirt and shoved her sleeve up her arm, revealing a red dragon spiraling around her arm. “Ryū ga anata o mitsuke saseru, Shimada Hanzo,” she muttered under her breath as red light spiraled off her arm and then shot off down the dark parking garage, hanging in the air like a ribbon. She hurried after it.
The ribbon of red light faded away as she reached the second highest level of the garage.
“Hanzo?” she called again, but she fell silent at the sound of shuddering breaths off in the darkness. She followed the sound to see a figure hunched over next to a support column. Hanzo’s hands were bloody. His clothes were still torn from the skirmish, with several still-bleeding slashes in spots. His sleek hair was awkwardly chopped short in one spot. He was buckled over, shuddering. At his side was a sword, in-sheath.
“Hanzo…” Yuriko stepped next to him and dropped down to one knee, “Look at me.”
He shook his head.
“Han–” she reached a hand forward and Hanzo flinched back from her extended hand, she withdrew it only slightly. “It’s me,” she said softly, “It’s only me.”
Yuriko’s eyes fell on the sword at his side and she reached over and picked it up, she unsheathed it and saw the red staining the silvery steel.
“Oh, Hanzo…” she said softly. She moved to reach forward and comfort him but he flinched back at the sight of the sword. Yuriko’s eyes flicked down to the sword, then she stretched her arm out and set the sword down further away from him, out of his line of sight at least. He wouldn’t want to look at it now.
“He’s dead–I ki–I–” Hanzo’s shoulders suddenly bunched up and he retched. Yuriko flinched back slightly at the splash of vomit against cement, “I killed him,” Hanzo’s voice was creaking, “I killed him…He was my brother and I–” he gagged again. His hand flailed out and smeared blood on her shirt as he gripped her shoulder and pulled himself up slightly to look at her in the eyes. “How… how could I…?”
“You did what you had to do for our clan,” her voice was gentle.
Hanzo shook his head again. “No–No, that’s not—he was…”
“The weight you bear now is unimaginable,” said Yuriko, “But I promise you… it will get easier to carry.”
Hanzo’s breaths were still short and shuddering. “Will it…?” he looked at his hands.
“It will. No one can question your loyalty to the clan now, or your sense of duty,” said Yuriko. She looked around the parking garage, “This is no place to grieve. Come home, Hanzo. It’s where you belong,” Yuriko cupped her four-fingered hand to his cheek, “Our scion.”

I'm suddenly possessed by the burning NEED for a Fbawtft Good Place Au. Maybe Dumbledore as Michael (McGonnagal as a sassier Janet ofc), trying to be the master puppeter and being an ingenious mess about it? Gellert, Percival, Tina and Newt (plus Queenie and Jake) as the Brainy bunch, and Gellert as the tragically not-good one apparently picked up by mistake? Or maybe Percival's the glitch - dying while killing his captor gruesomely, and still admitted to Haven and paired with soulmate Theseus?
okay I love I love !!!!
I’ve actually thought about this but always pictured Gellert as Michael… though I guess it wouldn’t work with his redemption ark. Percival, then, perhaps. Demon!Percival who just got promoted, clever demon Percival who wants to experiment a little, do something different. Gellert, his boss, doesn’t think he can succeed, but he’s willing to let him have his fun.
So Percival builds this entire neibourhood… He gets the help of a robot called Credence. Good Credence is a bit shy but very eager to please and be helpful.
Other demons play the inhabitants of the neibourhood, and then the humans arrive. But who are they? Newt, who’s worked his whole life to save both animals and humans, whose book had a massive impact on the world? Jacob, who just owned a bakery and made dozens of people happy everyday? Tina, the cop who saved a poor boy from an abusive situation? Queenie?
Or, instead of Queenie, maybe Albus? Albus is the glitch. He knows he’s the glitch, knows it plain as day; he’s not a good man. He might pretend to be but he isn’t one.
(sidenote, Demon!Gellert finds himself very fascinated with this human but he doesn’t say anything.)
Albus figures it out quickly…. But Albus remains silent. Albus lets the others bicker and whine and be in awe of the “good place”.
Newt is paired with Albus and Tina with Jacob. It feels very off but they don’t feel like they have the right to complain.
Jacob can’t stop thinking about his woman, Queenie, that he left all alone on Earth. If she died in the same car crash he did he doesn’t understand why she’s not here with him in the good place, why he has to be with this other woman who, worse, is her sister. Percival tells him there’s different neibourhoods and maybe she was sent to another one and he’ll see what he can do.
Tina takes a liking to robot!Credence, she finds him very endearing. In a way he reminds her of the abused boy she helped saving.
Newt and Albus are polite with each other. Albus gets to know everyone in town while Newt stays focused on his studies. He goes out to explore the neibourhood, wanting to discover everything he can about the fauna and flora of this place. Percival finds him crouched on the grass eyeing an insect with a magnifying glass and jotting down notes like this quite a few times. He can’t help but find it endearing as well.
Newt barely hides his crush on Percival and feels awful about it because Albus is supposed to be his soulmate.
Meanwhile demon!Gellert decides to visit the neighbourhood incognito to see how everyone’s doing and runs into Albus and decides he likes this human very much.
Does Albus tell Newt he’s not supposed to be here? I don’t know.
Tina is mad at Jacob for literally driving her sister and him to death. Tina also at some point grows closer to Newt, but she thinks it makes perfect sense that the two of them should be paired together instead of her and Jacob. Newt’s totally her type.
Percival also has some fun times teasing and flirting with Newt while pretending he has no idea what he’s doing.
He comes close to Newt, very close, reaches out to brush a strand of hair behind Newt’s ear while murmuring “don’t move” to him and then he smiles and says, “you had a leaf in your hair”, enjoying the way newt stammers and turns beet red.
(Percival is an asshole.)
Anyway so it’s all well and good, a few designed glitches happen until Albus is forced to admit that he may be the cause of all those problems. He also tells them he suspects they are not in the good place, but of course none believe him. They all urge him on to speak to Percival about it, but Albus is afraid of what Percival might do to them if he reveals he knows everything. So he doesn’t do anything and the others are forced to cover for him and protect his ass whenever something weird or dangerous happens in the neibourhood.
Eventually Gellert comes back and tells them they’ve figured it out that someone just shouldn’t be here with them and that’s what’s causing the glitches. So to rectify the balance they just have to take someone, any of them, and bring them down to the bad place.
Before anyone can say anything Albus volunteers. Partly because he wants to follow Gellert wherever the demon goes, partly because well, it doesn’t really matter since they were never actually in the good place to begin with.
The others call him mad. That’s when Albus says they’re all in the bad place, and he doesn’t mind going to see what the actual bad place looks like. He never belonged with them anyway.
“How long have you known?” Gellert asks, grudgingly impressed.
“Since the beginning,” Albus says. “Too many things felt off. But it was an impressive work, Percival.”
And Percival, much to the shock of Newt, Tina, and Jacob, just starts to laugh.
“I can’t believe you figured it out!”
“Wait, he’s right?” Newt asks, heartbroken.

I love your writing and the recent one is brilliant. When I was reading it, I thought about @rosegrangerweasleyisbae ‘s headcanon where Arthur and Draco bond over muggle items and when Molly learns about it, she is very amused. I imagined it to be a continuation of that. But what you wrote was amazing and I can’t wait for more. Thank you :)
@rose-grangerweasleyisbae :O
first of all, thank you thank you thank you =TAT=
(hold on i’ll go re-read that hc)
and then, i can see this going like this :
ok ok but yes, yes, i can totally see how it could be a continuation of that. so, slow burn + family. for harry, it has been clear for many years that the weasley family is what you called a real, loving, supporting, at times messy but really great family. good parents should love, accept, and never neglect a kid, and great siblings should support and defend each other. harry learnt what is love, what is strength and what is warmth from the weasleys and he could not be happier that he found this adoptive family that would really treat him as a son, as just harry.
however, with draco, it’s different. he too grew up in a sort-of ok family. as a kid, he never lacked in anything from material and family support. but with his father, lucius being controlling and passing wrong views to draco, subtly forcing him to wield power through stepping on others, and with his mother, who indeed really really loves him, but could not be present at times of need, draco thought family is supposed to be like that. parents are supposed to be served, to be blindly obeyed, and family virtues no matter how wrong should be defended. it never left him any space to really be a kid.
so i can see that draco is very surprised that family could be like this.
because family shouldn’t be weighted on a scale of wealthiness, as in what his father taught him. the real rich is in the quality, in the heart. he found comfort in every family member, but he found a second home in arthur. arthur, who is impossibly kind, chill, and understanding. all along draco thought arthur as this eccentric man who has this weird obsession in muggle stuff. but he never learnt that arthur is a father too. a father who knows his kids to the heart, and a father who is supportive and generous and accepting. because ofc arthur is accepting. arthur understands draco’s circumstances so he never pushes him, only to guide silently in the back and leave space for draco to rectify his own mistakes. he doesn’t shape his kids but instead allows them to explore on their own, and steps in only when needed. lucius may be a father but arthur is a dad. so, draco, naturally intrigued, wants to know more about what this man is really made of. and he does it by looking into muggle stuffs with arthur in order to know/learn him better.
but, knowing draco, he does this subtly and arthur, too, never made a big deal out of it. so everyone is pleasantly enjoying their sunday lunch without knowing what arthur and draco are really up to in the attic. so, at the end when it is revealed that draco is actually best-friends with arthur all along, and all the time when molly+harry+people worrying a bit over draco’s future schooling/work/whatever, it turns out arthur has already secured a position for him at the ministry that has to deal with post-war elimination of blood purity views and muggle discrimination and everyone’s like whaaaat
arthur is also the one who told draco to “go for it” when he found him silently watching harry fondly while the latter laughed with george, one afternoon.
(sorry for the length ?? just a random idea ??)
(me @ me : u have an exam going rn why are u like this)

allow me to meta for 1924234 seconds about Tony Stark & Accountability.
UNDER READ MORE FOR CONVENIENCE !
my favorite thing in the world to talk about. tony stark ever since the first iron man has always taken responsibility for his actions. it’s apart of his character. tony’s that character who is AWARE of his privilege & what that means in the broader context of things.
he’s made many mistakes in his life , but after being kidnapped & tortured in afghanistan & learning that his OWN WEAPONS WERE BEING USED BY THE ENEMY , he made the decision to scrap weapons making for good. to use his genius to better the world but in safer ways : ( like clean energy. we need more at that. all of it. save the trees ). & you see that through out the other movies as well , through out the course of MCU is tony holding himself accountable for his actions.
ultron ? he 100% shoulders the blame for that himself. even though bruce worked with him too on the project , & wanda’s manipulations prompted him to kickstart his idea for a world peace keeper , tony 100% owns up to ultron. he knows what he did. he knows how it affected the team. & you best believe he worked his ass to rectify what he’s done , even if he thought he was in the right at the time.
so like i finally , finally , finished rewatching civil war & honestly blame everything that occurred to the characters on bad writing. but the sake of the meta , i’m just gonna focus on tony & how his actions correlate to accountability. with wanda & pietro , although it wasn’t tony who pressed the button that sent the missle it WAS tony who created the weapon. & he will let wanda be mad at him. because let’s be real there are a lot of people tony lets just hate him ? because it’s easier ? because he’s not going to force people to change their opinion of him.
but the accords come , yeah. they’ve probably been int he works for a while , since the battle in new york where while they saved lives , there were casualties. in sokovia , a whole city was leveled. & when tony is met with the mother of a boy who had died in sokovia , the battle grounds of the last avenger movie , it hits the same chord in tony again that hit him in im1.
that it was HIS responsibility to do something. that if he claims to be a hero , he’s going to fucking HOLD HIMSELF ACCOUNTABLE & fix it. now obviously cw is different in mcu v comics bc in the comics , there are more variables & players at play which i acknowledge. & the comics made the sides much , much more gray than they did in the movie. where honestly the movie was just a hodgepodge of mess.
so when the accords are made , signed by 177 ( 117 ? idk i know it was basically the whole damn globe agreeing on one thing ) countries saying that the avengers need to be held accountable because there were MAJOR BATTLES that resulted in MAJOR CASUALTIES with what occurred in lagos being the icing on the cake for a move that was a long time coming ? yes tony wants it. because he has seen what happens when he lets his ego slip , fools himself to thinking he doesn’t need to do more than build weapons & run a company , & it’s not pretty. it still haunts him to this day.
the entire WORLD was asking for accountability. tony said it himself in the avengers movie , that they would avenge the world. what are the avengers if they don’t LISTEN to the voices of the very thing they’re trying to protect ?
through out the movie he attempts to compromise , because he knows that as of right now the accords don’t sit right with everyone. & he’s willing to work around because hey ! this is his expertise ! business deals & appeasing big wigs & making people happy. he was probably thinking of settling , for now , & then continuously working on a better system for the avengers to work under so that by let’s say , a year or two ? it’s a harmonious relationship for both the world & the avengers. because lbr if an alien invasion was coming ( which it will i see you i.nfinity w.ars ) then ofc they’d send the avengers. who else is equipped to handle that ?
& it always resonates with me how he shows the picture of the boy to the avengers after the announcement of the accords. because it makes the situation so much realer. because that’s the reason why he says yes. children are the future. & their actions , while GOOD , had also brought BAD RESULTS. ( granted i’m probably reading so far into this ). & their actions ? wiping out the next wave of generations.to tony , yes they fought to save the WORLD from ultron , but sokovia suffered & he saw an angry , grieving , mother come at HIM with her rage. because that’s where it turns to : on the avengers who saved the world but not the son who was doing a good thing in sokovia. that anger resonates with him. suddenly , he takes the blame & he’s ready to do whatever is required to make things right.
which is really , what tony always try to do although the way he goes about it doesn’t make sense to everyone. or the way he goes about it can be really problematic. but tony is the first one to own up to his shit , & the first one to make it right. & i think , due to writing , that doesn’t really shine PROPERLY for tony as it should.
do i think he was right in ca: cw ? no. do i see where he’s coming from ? yeah i do. am i excited for spiderman homecoming this weekend ? you bet your bottom dollar. did i just burn my tongue on some orange chicken ? fuck yEAH I DID.

Artistic Sherlockians, if you have time, help encourge a writer to finish her s**t!
So this is what the mod at WIP Big Bang is hoping will be the last round of Artists Claims at the big bang, and while I have had six of my twelve fics claimed (!!!) for art, not all of them have been claimed and it is not making me very motivated to finish them. All of my Star Trek stuff got claimed as did three of my Sherlock fics, but this is what’s left:
Children Of Light, Children Of Dark (Sherlock Holmes/Molly Hooper with background John Watson/Mary Morstan & OMC/OFC; Molly Hooper, Sherlock Holmes, Greg Lestrade, John Watson, Mary Morstan, Mycroft Holmes, Anthea, Irene Adler, OMCs & OFC)
It Takes The Whole Of London (Background John Watson/Mary Morstan and past Tom/Molly Hooper; Molly Hooper, Mary Morstan, John Watson, Greg Lestrade, Sally Donovan, Meena, Sherlock Holmes, Tom, OFCs and OMCs)
Led About On A (Not So) Merry Chase (Sherlock Holmes/Molly Hooper & John Watson/Mary Morstan; Molly Hooper, John Watson, Mary Morstan, Sherlock Holmes, Greg Lestrade and maybe a few others plus OMCs and OFCs)
No More Regrets (Sherlock Holmes/Molly Hooper, John Watson/Mary Morstan, Greg Lestrade/Sally Donovan; Sherlock Holmes, Molly Hooper, Mary Morstan, John Watson, Greg Lestrade, Sally Donovan, James Moriarty, Irene Adler, Stella Hopkins, Victor Trevor, OMCs)
Rectifying Past Mistakes (Sherlock Holmes/Mary Morstan; Sherlock Holmes, Mycroft Holmes, Anthea, John Watson, Mary Morstan so far)
What Matters More (Tom/Sally Donovan, background Sherlock Holmes/Molly Hooper; Sally Donovan, Greg Lestrade, Molly Hooper, Sherlock Holmes, Tom, possibly Philip Anderson)
YOU DON’T NEED TO HAVE A LIVEJOURNAL TO PARTICIPATE! You can sign up with an OpenID or anonymously and let our lovely mod know you’re primarily Tumblr-centric, as WIP Big Bang has a Tumblr presence ( @wipbigbang ). But a lot of these remaining fics are commissions from people who have helped me out through the rough year or so I’ve had and they’ve put up with delays thanks to my health issues as well as my mother’s cancer, and I’d love to be able to give them not only a finished fic but also artwork as well if at all possible.
And I will make this offer to the other artists who are taking on fics, but if you help, I’ll write a 1K fic for you when this is all over. Any ship (with the exception of incest ships...so yes, you want Johnlock, I’ll write Johnlock, just PG-13 or lower, as is the rule for all my slash fic) in the Sherlock fandom or Star Trek AOS fandom, or any other fandom I write if those two don’t entice. But please help these lovely people get some art for these fics? It would mean a lot to me. Thank you.
