Anyway toki pona, the gibberish I've been intermittently posting in, is a philosophical experiment of a conlang where, due to a restricted vocabulary and simple but restricted grammar, invoking any concept is an exercise in (as described by unofficial spokesperson/Renaissance jan/famous variety YouTuber jan Misali) not knowing what the "word for it" is but describing what it is in essential, contextual terms. It's a context-dependent ad-hoc descriptive process and it can be unwieldy fuzzy and sometimes bad for communication in novel ways sure but it's actually much more powerful and capable than people expect – I would say that toki pona doesn't have /more/ things it struggles to communicate than a natlang like English does, it just struggles with different ones – and many things that are hard to comprehensively express in English are easier to invoke in toki pona!

But yeah sometimes it can be hard. So sometimes ppl will introduce nimi sin, literally "new words" (loaned into English as "nimisin"), to describe some things.

These are. Debatable in value. I use "powe" (a nimisin) several times in the meta bc it affords me a greater agility w/ which to discuss the concept of fiction – I'm not sure if this is a decision I'll stand by as I get better expressing things in toki pona, but for now it seems to be good for my uses there

There are some nimisin though that are less convincing imo – "isipin", "thought," is the main one I wanted 2 compare this whole thing to

I really don't like "isipin." In toki pona there is no simple way to express the concept of thinking – and if you try to describe it that's because you aren't actually talking about things that necessarily belong in the same semantic grouping! Trying to analyze what you mean when you say "thinking" is really interesting – the different phrases people can come up with on that front are often more useful than just "thinking"!

"pilin" for gut feelings "mi la" for when smth is in your opinion "nasin mi" for moral codes "lukin" for examination "alasa sona" for investigation or exploration "kama sona" for learning "toki insa" for internal monologue "toki lawa" "lawa pilin" "Pali sona" and so much more – it communicates and helps you acknowledge what angle you're actually coming at something from. It's really interesting and a great thought exercise

"isipin" eliminates that exercise. You just say "isipin" and you skip over identifying and communicating what kind of consideration you're talking about, yk?

And that's how I feel about "content" and "content creator," I think, having evaluated it. We use these phrases as shorthand for... what, at this point? What are you talking about when you say "content"? Do you mean to say "art?" "Entertainment"? "Comedy"? "Presentation"? "Simulacra of companionship"? Do you mean a specific work of theirs? What do you actually like about things? And like ... at risk of somehow sounding even more pretentious than I already have, I think that's worth considering sometimes. What do you actually come here for? "Content" describes nothing. "This game contains scenes." And that can be useful as a term sometimes, sure, but like... idk . Actually citing what people do or perform is cool I think . And not to say that's not also a shorthand it v much is but like . Idk maybe we could all do to choose what shorthand we use more deliberately

i love when its implied that hannibal could be somehow non-human. it’s a nod to the idea that hannibal is comparable to the devil, and it gives a subtle and somewhat creepy fantasy aspect to the show that is just so perfect imo

If Kipperlilly DOES end up betraying Porter/Jace as part of a secret other scheme she has (whether good or evil) and it has to do with saving Lucy, I just know she’s going to be a bitch about it and pull a ‘sorry, I only save High Five Heroes’ before leaving her other friends to die or some shit. And then she will take her final form: Magic Betty from Adventure Time, betraying her allies and saving her frost gf at the expense of the world. It would also parallel what Ankarna is going through (‘your girlfriend’s out of town, it sucks’, becoming a little imperialist rage machine under the influence of Porter/Sunstone but not being able to fully turn on Lucy despite going against her values and turning into a violent weirdo). They’ve used it in power plays, in weird psychosexual soliloquies, everytime someone else’s experience of abuse has been brought up it’s been transactional. maybe it’s just because I am someone who regularly cries in art museums but I will never understand people who just walk up to a very old and very famous paintings and take a picture of it and move on like if you just wanted a picture of it on your phone you could have looked it up online dude you have the opportunity to see the actual thing in its physicality right in front of you and you’re not even going to look at it for more than a second? this painting is from another time and place entirely and has survived longer than any of us will ever live and you won’t even spend any amount of time with it? you’re not even going to read the title and caption? you came to a museum specifically to look at art why aren’t you looking at the art?

I didn't really watch too much TV as a young kid? I liked to mess around with my kit or go fuck around in the forests, for the most part. I started watching stuff more in highschool and college.

Some stuff I enjoy, or enjoyed, off the top of my head- Batman: The Animated Series, Are You Afraid of the Dark?, Buffy the Vampire Slayer... There are definitely more things that I watched, but I'm not sure what all I really stand by enjoying... sometimes, you just watch something because it's so weird it fascinates you, ya know?

I had an unhinged thot about like a modern abo setting where Clarke and Raven are besties who host a very popular podcast together 🫣🫣🫣 it scratches a very niche itch of mine and I think the idea of them getting to talk about everything from wild sex to the best spring cleaning methods is fun

Also, I have this image of Lexa and Anya popping in randomly during an episode or sumn, and the way the couples sit together is just so them™️

Like, Lexa would’ve taken purchase on the arm of Clarke’s chair. Her arm would be thrown over Clarke’s shoulders, basically enveloping her. The two subconsciously always maintain a physical connection, whether that’s Clarke absentmindedly stroking Lexa’s thigh or Lexa drawing soft sweet invisible patterns on Clarke’s arm. It’s so intimate that the viewers sometimes feel like they’re intruding in a way, but that’s just how Clarke and Lexa are. It doesn’t matter what setting they’re in; they find a way to stay attached at the hip.

Anya and Raven tho, they’d be a goofy mess of limbs. Raven would pull Anya onto her lap despite her weak protest at the idea of being seen in such a submissive position. Anya would try to support most of her own weight so as not to crush Raven, but it’d be no use. Raven would barely be visible behind Anya’s huge imposing figure, but she wouldn’t care at all. Raven loves it. She loves babying Anya like that. She’d have her arms wrapped so tightly around Anya’s middle while staring dead on into the camera with the biggest smile you’ve ever seen. I think, eventually, Anya would manage to convince her to switch places, and while Raven would miss being able to squeeze the life out of Anya, she doesn’t mind the view that comes with taking her place in the other woman’s lap.
