Everything we know about Iska Act and Zwei
Ever since the end of season 2, a topic that has sparked the most conversation and speculation for the story going forward was initiated by the introduction of Iska Acht in Setsuka’s and Hwang’s soul chronicles, and in Nightmare’s interludes. There is much about her that we can already reasonably argue just based on looking at her or just by following the story presented in season 2. For example, our eyes are immediately drawn to the crescent-shaped tattoo on her neck that resembles that of the one on Zwei’s chest. We also know that she is aligned with Soul Edge. But more interestingly, we can see by their shared first names and by the vague references she makes to Siegfried in Nightmare’s Interludes that she has a connection to the antagonist Iska Farkas from Soulcalibur: Legends. However, despite Acht’s biography in the character compendium explaining where exactly she comes from and what her purpose is, the fandom understandably has been very confused as to how she and Farkas are tied together.
The prevailing theory that has been circulating is that Acht IS Farkas, but that Farkas had simply been genderswapped for this new timeline. However, after having taken much time to try and analyze the bio we were provided with, I was able to decipher the admittedly very confusing language that was used. And my hope today is to break down the bio for everyone so that you all can understand it as well. I believe that this background information is very important to understand because of the doors that it opens for the narrative going forward. Here is my breakdown of what Acht’s bio means. I will divide her verbatim bio up into sections and then follow each section up with a simplified explanation:
“Deep inside the cursed sword lies the so-called "mind" of Soul Edge, a formless maelstrom of souls who fell prey to the weapon. It is here that "they" were born—amalgamations of souls once possessed by the sword given form. Though "they" shared a collective consciousness, "they" each represented different souls. For some time, "they" wandered the inner world of the sword as neither men nor beasts. However, with a fracture of the cursed sword at the end of the 16th century, one being was awash with purpose. It formed into a silver-haired boy, and entered the warped mind of the swordsman carrying the blade. It is there that he latched on to the man's desires and forced him to wield Soul Edge with reckless abandon in the hopes that he would harvest more souls for the blade.”
It’s explained here that the souls that were once possessed by Soul Edge would form groups together and each group would have a single shared consciousness while still being made up of distinct individual souls. One of these groups of souls was given a purpose after Sophitia shattered one of Cervantes’s swords. That group of souls became known as Iska Farkas. Iska Farkas was the one who compelled Siegfried to take up the leftover sword after Cervantes’s defeat. For reasons I will get into shortly, I am interpreting this as having all happened from within Siegfried’s mind. Iska Farkas was not a physical being who actually traveled throughout Europe with Siegfried, Farkas’s “companionship” was all inside Siegfried’s head with the single purpose of getting Siegfried to collect souls
“Afterward, the cursed sword suffered a setback: its favored host would be bested by the spirit sword, and the cursed sword itself would be rendered into several fragments. It was then that "they" who wandered the world of chaos would find purpose once again, though not as one, but as many. "They" would have earthly vessels to house their once ethereal forms and allow them to traverse the outside world. Though "they" possess no ability to fight in the outside world, "they" can make use of Astral Chaos, and work in the shadows to "pair" with malfested and assist (or manipulate) them. "They" serve as shepherds of sorts to powerful malfested with sword-based monikers, herding them into conflicts across the land that will reap souls and revive the cursed sword.”
Here, we are jumping forward in time. Siegfried had already taken up Soul Edge as his weapon, now we are at the point in time after Xianghua defeated Inferno. Soul Edge has gone into damage control mode, considering that it once again has been shattered. How does it decide it wants to remedy this? It brings the amalgamation of souls known as Iska Farkas forth into the physical plane. However instead of bringing forth Farkas as he is, as a single being, each individual soul that comprised him is allowed to become their own being. Going back to the point I made before where I explained that I was led to believe Farkas’s interactions with Siegfried were all inside Siegfried’s head, I want to now draw your attention to the language that is being used now in contrast. It is only now that Xianghua has shattered the sword again that “they would have earthly vessels to house their once ethereal forms and allow them to traverse the outside world.” Whereas before, where their duties could be fulfilled simply by infiltrating Siegfried’s mind from afar, now they actually need to be out and about so that they can bring back the Soul Edge shards and resurrect Soul Edge. They are given vessels in order to accomplish this, as well as elite malfested to be their partners. These elite malfested are given titles that are based on swords, and they are being shepherded by these souls.
“The being known as "Acht" (meaning "eight") appears as a little girl, and has been seen in the Ming Empire, Korea, and Japan. Paired with the malfested known as the "Sword of Cursed Flames", she also attempts to manipulate other powerful warriors into joining the ranks of the malfested. Given her name, it naturally follows that there are at least six other beings like her—those numbered two to seven. Should they all find the malfested with whom they seek to "pair", then it follows that there exist seven "sword malfested" in Nightmare's new dark force…”
This paragraph is fairly self explanatory, as it essentially describes the things we have seen in the Soul Chronicles. But now, with this whole bio having been interpreted, it should be understood that Iska Acht is not a genderswapped Iska Farkas. Instead, she is only a portion of his consciousness, one-seventh of it to be precise.
We have very little information on all the souls that made up Farkas. So far, only three of them have been mentioned by name in the story: Acht, Vier, and Sechs. Zwei is not mentioned in the story, but he is mentioned in the character compendium. Acht we can see is clearly a child, and while we don’t know what Vier and Zwei look like yet, they are both described in the character compendium as children as well.
Zwei is mentioned here briefly in Durer's "Greatblade" bio
Though she is not named, you can read abour Curtis's first encounter with Vier here
There is currently no description of Sechs.
Acht, as we know, is partnered with Won “Sword of Cursed Flames” Gobak. Zwei is partnered with Johan “Greatblade” Durer. And Vier is partnered up with Curtis, otherwise known as “Sword of the Inquisitor.”
There are many doors that this explanation can open and many questions that it could raise. One question that I had while reading this and trying to make sense of it is “where did each of them get their vessels from to walk the earth?” I personally wasn’t sure I liked the idea of Zwei, a character I enjoy quite a bit, possessing a dead body or anything equally as morbid. So I took time to research Iska Farkas. And it turned out that Iska Farkas has quite the experience with creating homunculi, and he even used one to resurrect his sister. With the idea that Legends potentially only happened in Siegfried’s head, it is hard to know what would and wouldn’t be canon. However, I think it would make sense if each soul was given a homunculus in order to become a physical being.
Another question I had was what this would all mean for Zwei going forward? Surely with this complete and total rewrite of his background, he will more or less be a shadow of the character he was in the old timeline, right? Well based on some information we are given in the Soulcalibur 6 character compendium, I believe that not only will Zwei still receive his wolf-spirit Ein, but they will actually be giving us a compelling explanation for what, or who, Ein is.
Soulcalibur 5’s artbook did sort of address what Ein was
but it more or less just said that Zwei didn’t know where he came from or why he decided to try and help Zwei in his time of need. Ein’s origin was left completely up in the air. But now fast forward to Soulcalibur 6. I believe we are actually given a description in the character compendium that matches Ein.
This description of The Wolf, Hilde’s ancestor, physically matches what we know Ein looks like. And if we can all recall from Hilde’s soul chronicle, Hilde grew up knowing Durer, and Durer is Zwei’s partner. We can see that the groundwork is already set, especially if you consider that this could potentially mean that Zwei has already spent a great deal of time in Wolfkrone, which is where The Wolf’s spirit has been allegedly spotted.
But what does this have to do with Iska Farkas? Well we have established already that ALL the shepherds when combined into one consciousness make up Iska Farkas. Meaning that, just like Iska Acht is one-seventh of Farkas’s identity, so is Zwei. Iska Farkas was a character said to be from Hungary. And if you translate the name Farkas from Hungarian into English, you will see that Farkas means wolf. Not to mention that in Acht’s bio, we are given confirmation that there is no shepherd who is called Ein, which is the German word for “one”. The shepherds start at Zwei, the German word for “two”. Even before we have had a chance to meet our new timeline version of Zwei, we already can see that he is surrounded by wolf motifs and wolf imagery.
This is all speculation. But as we could see, this information about Iska Farkas that hadn’t really been considered before opens up a vast array of possibilities and questions that we are all very interested in getting the answers to. I hope that everything I had to say makes sense and helped you all to understand the story a little better. I am excited to hear what different directions people think the story will take now after having discussed this.

Ghost Switch's 7th Birthday.
2017 was 8 years ago. I don't like that math. 2018 was 7 years ago, which is slightly more acceptable to me because 8+5=13, and 6.5 is half of 13, and if you round 6.5 up you get 7, but 7+5=12, and 8 is 2/3s of 12 which is more than half of 12 and that is gross because 12x12 is literally gross. (The 5 came from the end of 2025, if you were wondering)
You still with me? Good, because I have some thoughts about the last seven years I've been working on Ghost Switch under the cut.
Ive always had a weird way of contextualizing the passage of time, keeping track of significant or personal events in my life, be they places, or memorable occasions, tying them together in a mental spider web mad of thumbtacks of monumental dates and connected with the red string of my special interests at the time. It's always so insidious, how fast time passes, even though you're there for each moment. It's always so shocking how fast the days and weeks and months add up and suddenly a decade or two have passed.
Ghost switch turns 7 years old in 2 days. 8, that ugly number, if I count the full year of preproduction I spent planning and scripting the outlining and drafting. It's not quite a decade yet, but when it comes to webcomic longevity, it's damn impressive. Homestuck ran for 7 years, from 2009 to 2016. I was reading active updates for 5 of them. My webcomic will never reach the page length or word count of homestuck (thank god), but ghost switch will have actively been updating longer than homestuck has when it finally finishes. In three more years, i'll be able to add Ghost Switch to the list of "webcomic longrunners" on Tv tropes. (Special shout out to the dedicated soul(s) who update Ghost Switch's Tv tropes page, 'cause lord knows I haven't touched the thing after I made it.)
I cant help but compare myself to other Undertale fan comics that I've read and loved and followed. Not as competition or as a standard to live up to, but merely for curiosity's sake. The UnderlineAU by Dustyart and ifellforundertale, Caretaker of the Ruins by eruto, minty and ellipsis, flavor-text-chara by stemmmm, Unexpected Guests by undertalethingems, zombietale (zombie-frisk) by spooks, unofficial-underfell by comicpixel01, and that-one-underfell-comic by blueberryjamsart just to name a few.
And not just the other undertale comics as well. From time to time I find myself revisiting some discontinued deviantart comics from the early 00's like Wurr by Paperiapina, Off-White by Akreon and tanathe/vesner, Over The Mountains And Far Away by Skailla, and The Blackblood Alliance by KayFedewa. All of these stories from other people also doing it for fun and for free the melancholy I feel when they quietly tapper off or go in indefinite hiatus. It's strange to revisit their pages some times, snapshots of the past, perfectly preserved, same as they were when I last saw them update live, like the next page link could update any second.
Granted, not every webcomic started by starry-eyed teens inevitably ends up as unfinished. There are plenty of webcomics that I've followed for years that are also still going to this day. Africa by Arven92, Golden Shrike by Doeprince, Up And Ahead/No North (also by Skailla!), Oren's Forge by Teagan Gavet, and Tofauti Sawa by ThCynicalHound are some notable examples.
It's equal parts empowering and sad to see how many comics i've outlasted, outlived. It's just as humbling to be reminded how many are still going. I've been doing this for 7 years now. If my freakish estimation skills prove true, I'll be doing this for another 5. At time of writing, I am 32 years old. When I finish, I could very well be 38. Even if I decided to quit the comic today, this is by far the longest time I've dedicated to any one art project, one story, one single piece of fan art. Ive spent close to a fifth of my life (20 percent!) working on this comic, always thinking about it at the back of my mind. If it does take me 12 years to finish, that will be almost a whole third. I cant wait to finish. I cant wait to never draw another comic page as long as I live. I cant wait to get back to writing fan fiction and learning other artsy things like crocheting and quilting plush making, woodworking, metal working, stained glass making, all the hands on creating I can think of. Am I finally tired of undertale? No, as I've just said, i've still got a shit ton of fan fiction I gotta finish before I can say "I'm done with you." The hyper fixation has slowly released its grip, though. Enough so that I was able to start exploring other media to get unhealthily obsessed with this year (mostly in the form of anime.)
Undertale turns 10 years old this year, and can you fucking believe the birthday lands on a monday this year? I don't know if I'm going to do anything special for the anniversary like I have in years past. I'll probably just upload a page like normal and not much else.
It's strange to think that a baby was undoubtedly born the day i started this comic, and now they're probably old enough to read and comprehend it if they found it this very day. I don't look forward to the day when I finish, and a grown-ass adult comments on the last page saying; "Loved your story! Ive been reading since middle school and yesterday I graduated with my masters degree!"
Time needs to stop. And not, like, freeze. Just like… Stop. Doing that thing… Passing and changing us subtly and irreversibly without our consent or awareness until years have passed and we suddenly realize we've become different people, all tangentially tied together through this shared connection that is this webcomic I've become unhealthily dedicated to. This comic could very well see 4 different presidents in office across 5 election cycles before it's done. 5 more years… Half a decade more. "You have a true red soul of determination if you kept up the comic for this long!" Maybe. The sunk cost fallacy, the fear of death before finishing, fear of disappointing readers, and an all around general attitude of spite and stubbornness are strong incentives to finish though.
I wish I could say I'm over the hill at this point, but technically I'm not. Yes, I'm half way through but there's no gravity assistance to help roll me down the rest of the way. Comic making is more like mountain climbing. Yeah, I'm half way up, but there's still quite a lot of "up" left to go. The air is getting thinner, and I'm starting to tire, but it's shorter to the summit than to the base at this point. Might as well keep going. I still want to see the view from the top, and marvel at how far I've gone~

Strays
The taste of cigarettes and wine on her red and glistening lips Keeps my eyes in hunger And I feel I'm starving for her kiss Those blue eyes can see right through me See my deepest movements and darkest secrets I hold my rib cage open so see can see my beating heart Surrounded by my blackened tar lungs Love me like you love the strays Feeding scraps I'll gladly eat from your table
The scent of designer shampoos and summer sweat Is her perfume, aromatics on the air I am drunk off her actions Sliding deeper into the coffin she built It's just perfect for my size She is my storm and my drought Fingernails like thumbtacks crawl along my spine And the pain she gives me makes me feel alive She is my essence The reason for anything that matters this time around
Her smile is that of silver screens Movies filed with no scripts And so I'm taking guesses on how to act I'd rather die than offend her Let me be an expert on turning the corners of her mouth Facing up as I lay upon the floor beside her bed I've never been more comfortable on the rough Grounded, she is my lightning She is my star She is everything in the dark Pinpricks in the backlight Blind me with your sweet eclipse
She makes me believe in love and at the same time she calls the myth And I'll kneel gladly on her path of worship Embracing the anxious feelings of not knowing what to do Praying not to fuck this up Praying I don't lose you The only problem is I don't believe in god So prayers are just as useful as empty scratch pads I'll take them all to write my words of devotion Sign it with my name in blood Sign it with all my love

Rejected Bad: Piercing
The following is a rejected script from an early season of Breaking Bad.
INT. JESSE'S LIVING ROOM - DAY
Jesse Pinkman, scruffy beard, and wearing his classic hoodie, stands by a coffee table cluttered with two onions and a thumbtack. The room is dimly lit, with a hint of sunlight seeping through the curtains. He nervously glances around to make sure nobody sees him.
JESSE: Alright, man, okay. Time to get my piercing game on.
Jesse picks up an onion, examining it with a mix of confusion and determination.
JESSE (CONT'D): (to himself) Now, where the hell did I put that thumbtack?
Jesse rummages through the chaotic mess on the table, finally locating the thumbtack. He smiles triumphantly, holding it up.
JESSE (CONT'D): (whispering) Perfect, just the tool I need.
Jesse wipes the onion off on his hoodie, trying to make it as sanitary as possible. He takes a deep breath and positions the onion against his nose, aligning it perfectly.
JESSE (CONT'D): Alright, little onion, you're about to feel the wrath of Jesse Pinkman... with a thumbtack.
With a newfound determination, Jesse takes the thumbtack and holds it in position above the onion, ready to pierce it.
JESSE (CONT'D) Here we go. One, two...three!
Jesse quickly jabs the thumbtack into the onion, but it slips through, missing the desired spot. He winces in pain, holding his own nose, tears beginning to well up.
JESSE (CONT'D) Ah, damn it! Why is it so red and slippery?
Frustrated but undeterred, Jesse grabs the second onion from the table, determined to make it work.
JESSE (CONT'D): Alright, got one more shot at this onion business.
Jesse takes a moment, repositioning the onion against his nose for what he hopes is a more successful attempt.
JESSE (CONT'D): (to himself) Breathe, Jesse, just breathe.
Jesse takes a deep breath and slowly positions the thumbtack once again, ready to strike a hole into the onion.
JESSE (CONT'D): Okay, steady hand, steady thumbtack.
Jesse gathers his focus, closing his eyes for a brief moment before thrusting the thumbtack into the onion. To his delight, it successfully pierces through the vegetable, leaving a hole behind.
JESSE (CONT'D): Yeah! That's what I'm talking about!
Jesse examines the onion, looking satisfied with his makeshift nose piercing. However, his victory is short-lived as he suddenly realises a pertinent detail.
JESSE (CONT'D): Wait a minute... I can't go around with an onion hanging from my nose!
Jesse quickly removes the onion from his nose, now left with two pierced onions and no idea what to do with them. He sighs, shaking his head.
JESSE (CONT'D): Back to the drawing board, I guess. Piercing dreams will have to wait.
Disappointed but ready to move forward, Jesse gathers the flawed onions, placing them back on the table, and heads out, mumbling to himself.
JESSE (CONT'D): Yeah, science... it's all about science.
FADE OUT.

❝ It’s about being a good person, I think. We’re all in this together.❞
Somewhere in the vast ocean of space, there was a small deserted planet and a small colony of humans who’d made it their own. With Earth no longer viable for human life, the remaining survivors stole away to a mysterious planet with 25 rings. Saturn, a chronically curious teen in this colony is suddenly brought to the public eye when they create a new radio show to entertain the jaded population. So, when two-year-old Mollie Donoghue goes missing, the reporters, podcasters, and every nosy citizen sink their teeth into the perfect crime. However, for her family, it’s another story. Rival top students Ciaran Donoghue and EJ Lykoudis team up to get to the bottom of the mystery – past all the facades, lies, and the tireless pursuit of a perfect case.

Verity is the hero. Entropy is the villain. Damsels, dragons, kings, knights, swords, magic, and everything in between. Everything an audience has come to love and expect. We strive for only one thing: to tell the perfect story. But… that story begins to fall apart as many problems faced by our otherwise stoic and virtuous hero leave him questioning his place in his world. Back on track again, the story can still be told the way it must be told. There will be no distractions this time. Verity, the damsels, the dragons, the swords! It all has to go according to plan this time.
genres include: high fantasy, psychological thriller, action

⌞Thumbtack Moths⌝
❝ There is less than nothing at the bottom of the well.❞
In a small, unsuspecting, unremarkable village, there is a well. The well has sustained that village since its founding, and the townspeople have no idea what a life without it would be like. However, when siblings Rhydian and Alis wake one day to discover the well despairingly empty, mysteries, deceit, and corruption are revealed within this humble village, and the life they once knew ripped apart at the seams. Rhydian and Alis navigate the lies they’ve told both themselves and the town in the confronting tale of Thumbtack Moths.

[chapter 1]

⌞Witness Me⌝
❝ What has happened, and what will happen, is not your fault.❞
Cillian O’Cleary has many regrets. The biggest one – also the source of much of his intrigue and activity in this new place – is the series of events that led him to the Euthymia family’s doorstep, to be engaged to their youngest daughter. Through a twisted narrative told by Cillian’s partner and confidant, Faine Havenmeyer, a disturbingly intimate tale of hatred, uncertainty, and fear is unwoven as Cillian attempts to protect himself from the increasingly terrible situations he finds himself in, so far from his true home and real safety.
genres include: gothic horror, psychological thriller, drama
if you're fond of: victorian thematic inspiration, fucked up narrator and protag relationship, use of first and second person, unashamedly dark plotline, the kind of story that made my english teacher ask if i was okay, you might like this!

Just got back from the Barbie movie, expected it to be a so-bad-its-funny third wave feminist flick, but it's actually decent. It's not GREAT, and the "muh patterarky" stuff is in there, but it feels like someone stuck it to the script with a thumbtack. Like it was corporate mandated after the script was finished, and not a malicious jab at men. The message is solid, the script is pretty clumsy, some of the jokes miss hard, but it's actually a fun watch overall with how many jokes DO hit.
I wish they would have leaned a little more into Ken's arc (no need to make him more of a focus or anything), with him ALSO being a stereotype with identity issues.
I'd give it a solid 6/10 on my scale. Just slightly above average. For reference that's just between the Hobbit movies (6.5/10) and A-X-L (5/10) on my scale.

To create a similar app for your business, here are the steps you would typically need to follow:
Market Research and Idea Validation
Understand the demand for your app in the market. Research your target audience, analyze competitors, and identify gaps your app can fill. Validate your idea through surveys, interviews, and feedback.
Defining Features and Functionality
List down the features you want in your app. These could include user registration, service provider profiles, service listings, booking and payment systems, reviews and ratings, notifications, messaging, and more.
Technology Stack
Select the best technology stack for the development of your app. It includes selecting programming languages, frameworks, databases, and any third-party APIs you might need.
Design and User Experience (UX/UI)
Create wireframes and prototypes to design the user interface and experience. Focus on ease of use, intuitive navigation, and visually appealing design.
Backend Development
Develop the backend of your app. This involves setting up servers, databases, APIs, user authentication, and creating the logic to handle service listings, bookings, payments, and communication between users.
Frontend Development
Develop the front end of the app, including user registration and login, service browsing, provider profiles, booking forms, and user dashboards. Ensure responsiveness for a wide range of devices and screen sizes.
Payment Integration

Benefits of Developing a Thumbtack Clone App for Your Business
Developing a Thumbtack clone app for your business can offer several benefits, particularly if you're entering the service marketplace industry. Developing a home service app inspired by the Thumbtack model offers benefits that can drive your business growth. Here are some advantages to consider:
Proven Business Model
Thumbtack's success demonstrates the viability of the service marketplace model. By cloning its features, you're adopting a proven business model that has already gained traction in the market.
Existing Demand
Thumbtack's popularity suggests a strong demand for a platform that connects service providers with customers. By creating a clone app, you tap into an existing user base that is accustomed to using such platforms.
Market Recognition
Leveraging a clone app similar to Thumbtack can lead to instant market recognition. Users familiar with Thumbtack will find it easier to understand and use your app since they are already accustomed to the user interface and features.
Efficient Development
Developing a clone app can be faster and more efficient than creating a new concept from scratch. You already have a blueprint to follow, which can save time and resources during development.
Reduced Risk
Since the business model is proven, you're likely to face less risk compared to introducing a completely new and untested idea. It can be especially advantageous for startups and entrepreneurs looking for a reliable entry point.
Competitive Edge
While cloning features, you can also introduce innovative improvements or modifications to differentiate your app from Thumbtack. These unique features can give you a competitive edge and attract users who are looking for something slightly different.
User Base Expansion
If you target a niche market or offer specialized services that Thumbtack might not cover extensively, your clone app can attract users' specific needs and preferences.
Monetization Opportunities
Thumbtack clone apps can generate revenue through monetization strategies, such as charging service providers a commission or subscription fee for accessing the platform, offering premium placement for listings, or running targeted advertisements.
Scalability
If your Thumbtack clone gains traction and popularity, you can scale your business to serve a larger audience, expand into new geographic regions, or introduce additional service categories.
Learning and Improvement
Developing a clone app provides valuable insights into the functioning of successful service marketplaces. You can learn from user behaviors, preferences, and pain points, which can help you refine your app and create a better user experience over time.
However, it's important to note that while there are benefits to developing a clone app, there are ethical considerations and potential legal challenges. Ultimately, the success of your Thumbtack clone app will depend on how well you execute the development, user experience, marketing, and ongoing improvements.
