* A tegnap mutatott Squier test, Fender nyakkal. A tulajdonos korábban módosította az elektronikát, így helyet kapott a hangszerben egy Clapton közép kiemelő aktív szabályzó és egy Fender TBX passzív hangszínszabályzó. Ez utóbbi nagy kedvencem lett, mivel nem csak a magasak vágására képes, mint a normál hangszínszabályzó, hanem mélyvágásra is. Gyakorlatilag két speciális potméter egy testben. Mindkét funkció félfordulaton működik, középállásban pedig no-load potméterként funkcionál, ráadásul passzív. Szerintem zseniális. * The Squier body shwon yesterday with it's Fender neck. The owner previously modified the wiring to have a Clapton mid booster and a Fender TBX tone control. The latter became a favourite of mine, since it can act not just as a high-pass filter (keeping only the lower frequencies), but as a low-pass filter too, making the sound brighter. Practically the TBX is two special pot with one shaft. Both function work for half turn, and the device in middle position acts as a no-load pot, plus the whole TBX is passive. Further modded the Nismostrat. It basically has 3 single sized humbuckers. The switches select parallel and series for each (had single tapping but it did little). Also replaced the tonecontrol with the fender 'greasebucket' setup which gives a far better tone control. #guitar #hacking #modding #electronics

The people behind the game...

I listened to one of Tone Control’s recent podcast with Siobhan Reddy (https://www.idlethumbs.net/tonecontrol/episodes/siobhan-reddy),  who is the  co-founder and studio director of Media Molecule which created Little Big Planet. I found it quite insightful, especially what the life of a game developer/director is like. Siobhan went on to explain about her early life, particularly working in her parents shoe shop as a child/teenager and how that prepared her for managing big projects/people and communicating well with people. Which are pretty important aspects for anyone deciding to work in games. Reddy went on to say about the importance of proper industry language and being able to communicate the mood/idea that you want for a particular scene or game. Not only that but for a game developer you must know what ‘finished’ looks like, (ie. is this game ready? Does it need something more?) and being able to make a good co-operative team for projects.

To summarize, developers need to know the ins and outs of creating a game but also take the next step above and creating a team and managing the whole thing.

Listing to this podcast make more inform in making game. I like the idea of making game that people would like to plays for fun for hours.

The experience of failing is a good, as a student I use mistake as a learning process. Also learning not just a developer but doing some programing also add to what you can and can do in this industry. With the creative industry is getting bigger, I expect to have more variety of great design which is good in the industry. Also I plan to play more game as I build my career in the game industry. Just to be more diverse in my creative mind.

* Ha ki szeretnénk kapcsolni egy hangszeren a tónusállítási lehetőséget, de meg akarjuk őrizni a potméterek eredő ellenállását, hogy ne változzon a hangzás, akkor ennek legegyszerűbb módja, ha a tónus potméter középső lábáról a bal szélsőre forrasztjuk át a jel vezetéket. Persze betehetnénk egy külön ellenállást a poti helyett is, de ez így egyszerűbb.

* If one wants to get rid of the tone control option on the guitar while still keeping the resultant resistance of the pots to not change the overall sound, the easiest way is to solder the wire on the tone pot from the middle lug to the left one. Of course we could replace the pot with a resistor, but this is way more simple approach to it.
