Bro just remembered why are so much of my friends opps.
today at lunch UNPROMPTED my friend was like âwhy donât you have an accent like your momâ and itâs like it was so out of nowhere for no reason. And I was like wdym so she was like your mom has a Spanish accent and when I was like I donât really notice it I donât think itâs that strong she was like âthatâs because you live with herâ. that honestly had me pressed bc like first of all my moms English is amazing she is like completely fluent and has not had any problems in the OVER 20 years she has lived in this country. But also like English is my first language wdym why donât I have an accent of someone whoâs esl.
#+++*#Like genuinely Iâm getting pissed off post fact thinking about this bc like what#Itâs like when I was with another friend and she was talking about the way Hispanic people talk but I donât talk like that and#âI get what she meansâ#In my home area I never felt like I was a ethnic minority but this place blows. Like up here really drives home that I am not white enough#Like not to sound like every basic mixed person but back home (at least I thought) I was giving white#But in this town Iâm constantly being clocked and honestly kinda insulted#Bro my mom is bilingual your ass can barely say âhow are youâ in another language#My mom has been in this country longer than you have been alive đ¤Šđ¤Šđ¤Š#People are always such assholes about the way people talk#Like this is a topic that gets me pressed on the regular so itâs like I hate it when my friends do it to me

Please reblog this post? North American Jewish media hasn't started talking about this issue.
The Trump administration is using both Israel and US Jews as a political wedge. Today's examples are about how he's using US Jews.
Y'know how Trump/Hegseth's Department of Defense canceled "identity" (heritage) months?
Going forward, DoD Components and Military Departments will not use official resources, to include man-hours, to host celebrations or events related to cultural awareness months, including National African American/Black History Month, Women's History Month, Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, National Hispanic Heritage Month, National Disability Employment Awareness Month, and National American Indian Heritage Month.
Ask yourself why Jewish American Heritage Month was not similarly canceled.
I checked, and the US armed services generally do observe Jewish American Heritage Month. Here's the article from the US Army on that topic from May of 2024.
At the same time the Trump/Hegseth's DOD is delegitimizing all these heritage months, they're leaving Jewish America Heritage month alone. So...why was Jewish American Heritage Month left out of this list?
How do you think this will impact the way Jewish US military service members are viewed by their colleagues whose heritage has been erased as a part of the US military?
Trump is trying to kill all DEI programs, attack LGBTQ+ folks, and end meaningful education about the history of race in the US at the same time he's trying to aggressively punish antisemitism in post-secondary education institutions.
What effect do you think this will have on the perception of what Jews believe about other marginalized groups? What conclusions might members of these groups draw about the political alignment of Jews, regardless of the fact that at least 70% of Jewish voters voted against Trump?
US Jews are being used as a political wedge.
If we're going to mitigate the inevitable backlash against US Jews, we need to:
- Start grasping the danger of what Trump is doing by using US Jews as a political wedge
- Start denouncing it loudly, not just among ourselves, but with US gentiles who will listen.
- Loudly opposing every undemocratic/unconstitutional thing Trump does, especially when he's abusing his power to attack those who attack us.
Abuse of power, even leveraged against those we don't like, endangers us.
Please reblog this. Please write to the liberal Jewish newsrooms you value.

Is my Character a Latino Mechanic Stereotype?
@engineering-a-better-world asks:
I often see media of Hispanic people being mechanics and am wondering if I am playing into this stereotype with one of my secondary characters. I did not find anything on your blog about this particular trope and do not know how harmful it is/why. The main five characters are all scientists specializing in different fields. My mcâs best friend is mostly Argentinian with some Nicaraguan ancestry. She is a mechanical engineer with a specialty in prosthetics and makes her own above knee prosthetic legs. There is a Mexican character shown later who is a captain of the city guard and very much a leader and not handy. Are there pitfalls to avoid in this representation? Does her specialty fit negative stereotypes and why?
Hi, thanks for asking. #rubber stamp approved (per Masterpost rules, I cannot give these out any more. This is sort of a joke, but really, this is a great ask to explore ideas of Latino-Americans and Labor stereotypes.)Â
It sounds like you have a variety of Latino representation planned for your story. Thatâs fantastic (and the make or break for me.) You plan to showcase Latinos in different professionalized fields, which is positive. The âethnic menial laborâ trope or âLatino mechanicâ trope become problematic when itâs the only representation given for Latino characters, or theyâre showcased as one dimensional side-notes to non-Latino MCs. Having variety will offset the heavy (and often negative) overuse of Menial Labor and Hard Labor jobs.
Iâm also not trying to reinvent the wheel, so you can check out more about the trope on this TVTropes page on âEthnic Menial Laborâ, and more about Latino representation in media in this Writeinclusion.org factsheet.
Important Note On Latinos and Menial Labor
Many of my Latino family members and friends are trades workers or do âhard-laborâ or âmenial-laborâ jobs. My father was a roofer before he changed careers. My grandfather worked the racetracks. My best friendâs dad managed a restaurant. These jobs, whether âhard-laborâ or âmenial,â put food on the table and are not indigent. They take care of our families.
As long as Latinos in these jobs are not framed as less-than, I have no problem with the range of experiences being displayed. The fact that your characters fit into jobs across the socioeconomic spectrum mitigates your concern about stereotyping.
Seeing more professionalized Latino characters is great, and I canât wait to read it.

Hello, this is an important post not k-pop related.
I am american. I am a woman. and i am also hispanic. Loud and proud.
what is happening in america right now regarding ICE raids and now anti medically necessary abortions, is honestly and truly disgusting and heartbreaking. It is a form of abuse against humans as a whole. No longer are people able to strive to keep their families safe, no longer are woman allowed to medically eradicate a potentially hazardous pregnancy.
Our rights are being abolished. Families are being torn apart. This is wrong.
Now, i know this is just tumblr. A place a lot of people go to have a safe space and write their silly little fics but unfortunately things actively happening around the US are no longer able to be ignored or pushed aside. I advise you, as human beings to look into ways you can help families and woman struggling in america under trumps orders.
I am not a big account, i have just under 500 followers but i have seen absolutely no posts about this on my feed at all. Important topics such as these should be shared across every platform, not just twitter, tiktok, instagram. it should be shared wherever people are and i will not be silent on the topic.
if you support the acts trump has taken to tear families apart and create potentially dangerous situations to woman then please block me. Tumblr is a space i involve myself in and in no way shape or form do i want someone who thinks human rights are only reserved to white, republicans in my space. Block me.
Lastly, i will be linking some important resources to look into involving the raids and anti abortion laws. please, read them.
here. here. and here.
Thank you,
Rain.

Racial & Ethnic Representation in Fanfiction
[đď¸ Podcast Interview]
Hey, friends! Sandra and Kasey, the lovely hosts of @idlingintheimpalapodcast â the podcast for all things SPN and fanfiction â invited me back on the pod for an interview on a topic that's very close to my heartâŚ
With @rubyvhs, we talked about the fun moments and challenges about reading and writing fanfiction that represents specific racial and ethnic cultures, being bicultural/multicultural, the immigrant experience, and much more.
I offered my own experience as a Latina POC writing in the fandom space, specifically Supernatural and The Boys (and adjacent Jackles fandoms).
Check it out here: ⤾ď¸
youtube
Interview Timestamps â
(Plus fic recs, SPN writer/reader shoutouts, and more! Links to all the fics we mentioned are at each time stamp.)
2:54 â When did you start writing fanfiction, and when did you join SPN fandom?
⥠You can check out my first author interview with Sandra and Kasey over here. We chatted about Dean Winchester and Jensen Acklesâ early roles, the best and worst seasons of SPN, the joys and pains of writing Soldier Boy, and much, much more. For all the timestamps of key moments, fic recs, and SPN writer shoutouts, see this post (you'll find the link to the video there too).
6:18 â What is your ethnic, racial, and cultural background? (And how me and Sandra bond over âfood and familyâ ties between Hispanics/Latinos and Italians.)
13:05 â The immigrant experience in America, what you take with you from the âMotherland,â the struggles of bicultural identity, my personal experience being a second-generation child of an immigrant family, and Sandraâs experience as a first-generation child of Italian immigrants.
16:58 â What do you look for when youâre reading fanfiction? (Canon-compliant, AU, romance, etc.) Does the length of a story matter?
19:52 â Bonus: The merits of drabble writing vs. long-fic writing.
25:54 â Have you ever actively searched for fanfiction that represented your ethnicity? (Whenever I do, itâs like finding gold.) Plus, the challenge of writing reader characters, the âgray areaâ of writing reader characters like OCs.
32:38 â The inherent âbiasâ of reading and writing reader characters as White. The concept of diversity being âcoolâ in popular media, TV shows, and movies is still pretty new.
36:36 â Why I started writing reader characters that might have a specific body type, race, and/or ethnicity.
Examples:
⥠Midnight Espresso â Dean Winchester x Plus-size Latina!Reader
⥠If I Stay â Dean Winchester x Plus-size!Reader
⥠10 âTil Midnight â Professor!Dean Winchester x Plus-size Grad Student!Reader
⥠Unravel Me â Soldier Boy x Afro-Latina!Reader
⥠The Honorable Choice & Outlander â Cowboy!Dean Winchester x OFC
40:14 â The fun challenges: like giving Dean a partner who takes care of him as much as he takes care of others in Midnight Espresso.
45:28 â The BIG challenges: like writing Soldier Boy being himself with a âperson of colorâ (POC) in this new series, Unravel Me. What even is a POC? Where do you start with Soldier Boy, the Sandra-proclaimed âbowl of fishhooks?"
51:38 â Is there ever an element of fear when you publicly post a story that represents your culture, which is something very personal to you? What happens when you get haters in the comments?
1:05:33 â When and how did you begin to break out of the âingrained biasesâ in your writing? (AKA: Always assuming my own characters are White.)
1:08:04 â When did you decide to explore writing plus-size!readers?
1:13:20 â What has your experience been in writing a race/culture outside of your personal experience? The Honorable Choice and Outlander, a western AU where Dean Winchester falls in love with a Native American Lakota Indian. (Shoutout to @jacklesversebingo!)
Plus, the ethical responsibility to âdo no harmâ when you represent different cultures, and answering question of not only can I write this, but should I write this?
1:32:42 â What advice would you give a writer interested in writing about a culture outside of their own that they donât have first-hand knowledge of? How can a writer avoid cultural appropriation if their goal is cultural appreciation? How important is a sensitivity reader/beta reader for this effort?
1:40:35 â Final thoughts on diversity and representation of culture in fanfiction, whether itâs your own or someone elseâs:
âWrite what you know. Write what you can research. Write what youâre interested in. Remember that words have power, so be careful how you use them.â
1:45:30 â Sandra and Kaseyâs outro: The importance of representation and diversity in fandom.
I hope you enjoy the ride!~ đ

Hey lads!
So, it's amazing waking up and seeing so many supportive posts towards the Brazilians of the community and also towards Cellbit. It rlly makes me feel safe here and reassures I choose the right community to be active on (qsmpblr <3)
But I need y'all to know that the reason the xenophobia against brazilian fans and cellbits doc are connected is bc a bunch of brazilians managed to gather screenshots of people (both from the english and the hispanic side of the community) being xenophobic and racist towards us and we made a big thread with them to showcase we were not crazy and overreacting. And so, the same people that were xenophobic decided to bring up AGAIN the whole deal with Cellbit's ex as a smoke bomb and to diverge attention from their shit and to "justify" it, bringing up brazilians from other spheres outside qsmptwt that hate on Cellbit for the fun and made it bigger than it should
And bc of that, she saw it and made that terrible fake accusation, leading to the document
Also. Please don't feel pressured and forced to make a post showing your support to both Cellbit and the brazilians. If you want to, okay! Thanks for doing it! But if you don't, it's okay. It's a tough topic. And most of us are here because we don't want the twitter stress and some don't even have twitter to know. Not everyone campers the tag to be always up with the news
I'd just say that if you wanna show your support but feel too shy to make a post or anxious and now is feeling worse, send a dm or an anon ask to a fellow brazilian blogger. I can guarantee, it's enough and we feel really good with it too
And also. People. Don't fucking go around shaming others for not speaking up about the whole mess. Don't go "your silence speaks volumes" ESPECIALLY since you didn't scroll far enough to see we weren't silent. Yesterday we talked about it, we spread Cellbit's doc link, we made posts about the xenophobia. But the qsmpblr community don't want to stir and simmer in the drama so long. We want peace and feel comfortable here. I can assure you, private communities from bloggers on discord keep talking about it, but most of us want to go back to normal posting so people go back to feel safe and not triggered about such a heavy topic
Don't. Fucking. Shame. People. For. Not. Posting. About. It.
This is not twitter. When someone is a dick, you WILL know, and it wont be bc they didn't talk about smth that twitter made into a bigger drama than it should be
Anyway, stay safe y'all. Thanks for the supportive messages towards the brazilians <3

Abgerny character design in my AU, Vocals category [Final]

Extra

Alright, after a long hiatus, I finally drew the last section that everyone has been waiting for, "Vocals"! This is the last part where I reveal the designs of all the Abgerny characters in my AU. After that, I started writing their bios in my AU through Vurr's perspective, describing how she feels about each of them and her experiences spending time with them directly. (In my AU, Vurr has interacted with all the Abgerny characters, resulting in the VR world, all of them have clothes because it reflects Vurr's memories directly.)
As you can see, most of the Vocals have a tan skin tone, which is noticeably different from the other characters who have light skin. The reason? I just wanted to change it because too many Abgerny characters I designed have light skin and I'm tired of seeing that skin tone. Also, tan skin isn't bad for Juan and Benson, and Bearrito and Juana actually fit them well in my opinion since that skin tone is quite common among Hispanic and Latino people. (If you don't like it, that's up to you because I will never change their skin color in my AU anyway lol.)
Why are there two Juans? And who is the one named "Juana"? For those who follow my work on Reddit and Twitter, you probably already know the reason why I draw two Juans in my AU. But for those who don't know, let me explain briefly. (For those who already know and are too lazy to read it again, you can scroll down to read the topic about the origin of the scientific name and classification for Rainbow Flower in my AU.)
The reason I draw two Juans is simple: "I thought Juan was a "guy" because of her masculine name and appearance. And I created this AU long before the latest Abgerny update that confirmed Juan was a "girl" in Horror Mode. Also, I used he/him pronouns for Juan throughout the story and portrayed Juan as a "man" for over 10 chapters with no hint of being a "girl" whatsoever. So it's hard to go back and fix it. To cut the problem in my style, I decided to add "Juana" which represents Juan's canon gender but as Juan's older twin sister instead so that some of you guys won't feel uncomfortable too much from seeing Juan being portrayed as a man instead of a woman in my AU." (Juana is Juan's female counterpart in Spanish.)
So if you're talking about Juan in my AU, you have to specify which Juan it is because if you only specify "Juan", I'll only think of my male version of Juan. If you want a female or canon Juan, you have to specify like "Juana" or "Juan (canon)" because I like it that way. (I know this may sound annoying to some because Juan's canon gender is "female" and not male, but this is my AU and the story and character designs are my own creation (I'm not claiming that these Abgerny characters are mine, I'm just trying to say that the design in my AU are "mine" tho). If you don't like these little rules that I created in my AU, that's fine because I'm not forcing you to like them. Just respect my decision and rules, and don't harassed me for some stupid reason like this.)
Okay, the next question is where the scientific name of Rainbow Flower comes from. Let me explain it thoroughly.
Scientific Name for Rainbow Flower "Florigenius chromatica".
Breakdown of the name:
"Florigenius" â A fusion of Flora (Latin for flower) and Ingenius (Latin for intelligent/genius), representing its sentience.
"Chromatica" â Derived from Chroma (Greek for color), emphasizing its rainbow-colored petals and abilities.
So, "Florigenius chromatica" means "Brilliant, Colorful Flower".
More information about its classification.
Kingdom: Plantae (Plants â because it's still fundamentally a flowering plant)
Phylum: Angiospermae (Flowering plants â since it has petals and reproductive structures)
Class: Eudicots (Most flowering plants with broad leaves, like sunflowers and roses)
Order: Asterales (Includes daisies, sunflowers, and other composite flowersâRainbow Flower has a similar petal structure)
Family: Florigeniaceae (A new, fictional plant family for genetically modified, sentient flora.)
Genus: Florigenius (Combining âFloraâ and âGeniusâ to represent intelligence and plant traits.)
Species: Florigenius chromatica (Meaning "brilliant, colorful flower")
Trivia:
Kingdom, Phylum, Class, and Order follow real plant taxonomy.
Family "Florigeniaceae" is fictional, representing artificial or engineered plants.
Genus "Florigenius" separates it from normal flowers due to its sentience.
Species "chromatica" highlights its rainbow-colored petals and abilities.
This is the part that took me the most time while drawing Vocals, because I was researching botany and connecting scientific facts to each other until my brain was about to explode. And most importantly, it wasn't that important to the story but I still took it too seriously. I think I'll become a botanist by now, damn it. I'm going crazy with my life. (âĽďšâĽ)
Okay, enough of the science headaches, let's get to the questions about Benson and Bearrito.
You're probably wondering why Bearrito is so... umm, radical in my AU? The answer is that I changed Bearrito's personality a little bit, in that Bearrito is a little bit psychotic and has a "twisted sense of humor". So even though Bearrito is a good joker, there are times when his jokes are so twisted that it makes many people feel uncomfortable when listening to them. Most of them are violent towards the offenders (because he also has a twisted sense of justice). For example, he would say that peeling off the skin of a drug dealer and sticking it on the wall in the prison to surprise the drug dealer would be very "funny" because they would exclaim the forbidden words in fear and it would offend the prisoners of that nationality and get beaten up.
In addition, Bearrito was born from Benson's defense mechanism that Benson experienced when he was a child (Dissociative identity disorder (DID) go brrr-). So Bearrito would be like Benson's guardian who always tried to make Benson happy with his jokes and protected him from danger, even though his protection went too far and made Benson feel very uncomfortable, especially when he used Benson's own body to commit cruel acts while Benson could only watch from the inside of his mind. (But they are still close, just Benson strongly distrust Bearrito when Bearrito offers to "help" him on something because Bearrito always causes trouble whenever Bearrito takes over Benson's body.)
And lastly, about William
Why is William's name called "W.I.L.L.I.A.M."? Well, that's just an abbreviation for William AI in my AU (he's an AI in my AU, and he also have true form too. But I won't revealed his design as that was the most important part in the story). As for William AI's full name? That's a secret and I won't give you any hints lol. Guess for yourself (which I doubt you'll get right because it's a long and hard name to guess). Who's sitting in the chair in front of William? That's William's creator, that's all you need to know for now, I won't tell you their name lol
But for those who are interested in seeing William's full body on screen... see below.
(Based on reindeer that change their fur color to white during the winter.)
I know some people will wonder why William's design in VR world in my AU is different from William's design in VR worlds that are more commonly seen in Abgerny fandom like this.
First of all, this design is "not the canon design of William in VR mode". Anyone who played the original Abgerny will know that this design does not appear in the game at all, only the Wendigo version of William appears. So, William's VR design can be any design you want him to be, and I prefer something I design myself. Feel free to use William's VR design in my AU for other entertainment purposes, just make sure to give me credit as the creator of his design.

Do we have any info about Max and Checo before they were teammates? I remember Checo being one of the only people who was nice to Max when he joined F1. Do we have any idea about their dynamic back then? Iâm super curious- thank you!
Not so much info, but those who were F1 followers like me remember many things from their dynamic since Max started in F1.
First of all, the whole 'letting a kid join the big leagues' thing. Not many teams/drivers were in agreement of Max, with only 17 years, joining F1, which led to the 'Verstappen rule', meaning: drivers could get their superlicense until they were 18 (Toto Wolff managed to change that this year so Kimi Antonelli could join Mercedes in 2025, but as an anon mentioned it, it was only so he could join pratices, as Kimi turns 18 in august).
So Max joining F1 was controversial, and to be honest, most of the old grid were kind of assholes, and also the reporters didn't help, as they kept asking if they would be 'mentors' or 'give Max advice', which most drivers said NO. They mostly ignored Max, seeing him like a kid (well, he was the youngest), but Alonso and Checo always said nice things, Checo was happy for him (he said this in many interviews, as Max was the hot topic back then) and he wished him the best. He was really nice to Max, and Max usually tended to join Checo and Nico's during the drivers parade or the paddock.
This could be also because Max's teammate in his Toro Rosso era was Carlos Sainz; Carlos and Checo were in friendly terms, as both were hispanic (they are not anymore though, such a shame), and that kind of made easier for Checo and Max to interact.
When Max was promoted to RBR and Carlos went to another team, Max and Checo mantained a nice relationship, even friendly. Something I kept noticing in several interviews around the paddock was that Max seemed to always look around for Checo (these are more my deluded impressions, but I've seen a few edits where I'm proven sort of right) and they kept laughing and having fun, so I'm pretty sure their dynamic was friendly and positive before they became teammates, and then they became boyfriends, divorced, took couple's counseling and now here we are!
I'm asking permission from a girl who makes the BEST edits in FB, so I can share them here, those will prove my point even more.
But until then, here I leave a few pictures to show how amazing their chemistry is:

Look, Maxie next to Checo, instead of his teammate! âŹď¸

Here when Nico and Checo completed their 100 races, and celebrated, Maxie was next to Checo but Daniil Kvyat kind of got in the way.

Sorry if this one has watermarks, but I had to share it, look at their smiles! So adorable!

Like this one!
And I have many more, but I'm saving them for my ENOURMUS rant about Chestappen that an anon asked me like two weeks ago. Anon, I haven't forgotten, but I have so many rants, pictures and theories, that it's taking me a while.

Postmodernism Masterlist
To make my resources more accessible, I am now going to have separate posts linking to each of my feminism subcategories. These are intended to catalog my resource posts, not every post on my blog.
This is the masterlist for my #postmodernism tag, which includes (but is not limited to) posts on postmodernist theory and modern ideas based on that theory.
Most of these posts are mine, but I will include the occasional resource from others.
Please see my main masterlist for other topics.
This post will be edited to include further resources, so check back on the original post link for updates. (Last update: 03/2025)
Biological Sex
Sex Binary:
The âconfusionâ about biological sex is because it is harder to debate philosophy than policy.
Women are oppressed by sex, not gender identity.
A link to the open letter to the guy who wonders if biological sex is real.
The increase in LGB identification recently is likely because bisexual people are appropriately identifying as bisexual.
Sexual Dimorphism:
Humans are sexually dimorphic.
There are sex differences in physical strength.
There are not major differences between menâs and womenâs brains.
A recent study using machine learning does not prove the idea of brain sex.
Intersexism/DSDs:
Intersexism and pregnancy and the nuance introduced by DSDs.
PCOS is not an intersex disorder. (Clarification on language.)
Endometriosis in men is likely the result of imperfect atrophying of MĂźllerian duct tissue in the embryo; this is not evidence of female sex organs in men.
Sports participation for people with DSDs is a complex issue requiring a nuanced approach to policy; that being said, male puberty should preclude participation in womenâs sports.
How I believe sports organizations should handle people with DSDs.
Transgender
Ideology:
I believe gender should be abolished, and no one should be forced to conform to any stereotypes.
The definition of male/female is sex-based.
Sex-separated spaces are based on a single factor â sex â not on anyoneâs idea of what a female person should be, look like, or do.
The increasing incidence of transgender identity is not comparable to left-handedness.
The modern transgender movement originated in Germany around World War II.
Claims about trans youth suicide rates are not supported by evidence, and the rhetoric surrounding this topic is incredibly irresponsible and dangerous to trans youth.
Criminal behavior patterns follow sex, not gender identity.
The transgender homicide rate is relatively low.
Biology:
We have no evidence of a biological basis for transgender identity.
There is no high-quality medical evidence supporting the use of hormones to alleviate transgender peopleâs distress.
Hormone use does not affect cognitive ability.
Research into transgender medicine has been suppressed and manipulated.
The IOC study on transgender athletes is severely flawed.
General Postmodernism
Excerpts from an essay on the issues with postmodernism.
Postmodernism-based movements are not leftist; if anything, they are libertarian.
There is a difference between segregation and separation.
Forced language change is oppression.
Latino/Hispanic people do not like or use the term Latinx.

I'm not saying a foreigner can't make a good movie based in Mexico. Nacho libre was made by an american director, it is a positive representation of mexican culture and lucha libre and has this typical mexican film feeling. It's also a tribute to a popular mexican character and even though it clearly has some flaws and stereotypes, mexicans loved that movie sm for the good hearted nature of the perspective and respect towards our country to the point that we adopted that film as ours.
Meanwhile, making a story about the narcotraffic is a sensitive topic for a lot of reasons and it's going to cause controversy either way from the fact that has been the cause of many losses in the country and that we are already dealing with the mexicans themselves romanticizing these groups in current media.
I'm not saying you can't enjoy the movie, I'm 100% pro of liking anything you want as long as you take it as fictional and have your feet on the ground. I know nobody is exempt of being guilty for liking a movie, tv show, etc with poorly done representation.
The thing is, I wish people understood the problems around this movie starting with a foreign director who didn't want to make at least a little of research, the main cast that is not really mexican except for one actress because 'they were the best we found' (which implied we don't have good mexican actors), the main actress overreacting on twitter and calling us transphobic for doing a call out on the flaws the movie has and the disconnected representation of mexicans.
We can even say it is something similar to what happened with the first adaptation of WSS, and that says a lot of the progress we have made if here we are committing the same mistakes (funny enough that I am comparing two musical movies about hispanic representation) .
To not make this longer, if mexicans are complaining and backlashing this film is because what we perceived is a foreign person turning the trauma and the cause of the loss of many families as a joke. If the point of this story was to raise awareness, they did it in the worst possible way.
I lived in a state that is popular for the quantity of people involved in these practices and it was a constant state of panic due to the fact that security and the law in Mexico are a joke, sometimes you never know if the person you interacted with even casually in a convenience store is related or has a relative involved in narcotraffic and it sucks to feel so insecure.
I know Mexico is not perfect and obviously not everything is as bad and we constantly do the take me out of latam jokes, but if we are proud of something is of our identity and this movie is not a reflection of that identity.

Here with another post on DB vs Vivziepop. Today, I'm still on the topic of POC characters, but this time, Latino characters đđđ
3 examples will be shown.

Here is Broly. Broly is a near-human alien. Even though he isn't human, he is a POC character. In fact, he had his own movie!!! I love it when POC characters aren't kept behind!! Okay, so Broly isn't exactly Latino (like I said earlier, he's an alien), but as a Latina, I most definitely headcanon him as Latino and actually, most of the Hispanic DB community has. My people praise him alongside other DB characters!! His skin tone even matches mine!!! This is what I love about both DB and Splatoon, show, not tell!! Vivziepop is always telling about her characters' sexualities and race, but doesn't really show it when it's not a harmful stereotype.

Here is Vannie. (not calling her by her actual name and also not using her outfit from the show because it sucks) Vannie is a demon. Vivziepop stated that she's supposed to be Salvadoran, yet there's no coding, besides her VA being Hispanic. So you're telling but not showing? You could change her skin tone to an actual Salvadoran skin tone, you could give her an outfit reminiscent of traditional Salvadoran outfits, but apparently that didn't happen. She doesn't even look Latina! I don't even know what she could be. Heck, Broly could pass as being Salvadoran easily.

Here is Goku. Just like Broly, he is an alien. He has some of the most unintentional Latino coding!!! He is my people's icon!!! He is one of the most loveable characters of the franchise and is the most recognized among our community. Goku may not be officially Latino, but in my heart (and in the hearts of the Hispanic DB community) he is. And like I said, coding is everything!! Show, not tell!!! Go wild!!
Until next time, Vivziepop critics.

Gekko Headcanons #1 : The Cookout
Pairing: Mateo De la Fuente/Gekko x Black!Gn!reader Headcanon: Taking Mateo to a family cookout would include... Content: fluff, profanity Word Count: 2.6k Author's Note: its been toooo long since I've written something, and of course my newest hyperfixation is the thing that gets me to write again LMAO gotta love it y'know? I am very new to the world of Valorant and this character, so please...if any of this seems ooc, kindly let me know. I'm still learning about him, I'm still feeling him out, but I just enjoy the character so much already. I also enjoyed writing this, so I hope y'all enjoy! <3 Tag list: @liyaawrites (aka, the person responsible for this obsession!!)
I wanna start off by saying that the second you mention taking Mateo to meet your family, the boy is geeked out of his mind. Maybe it's in passing during a conversation, or maybe you consciously bring up the topic once you feel it's the right time; either way, itâs met with wide, brown eyes that sparkle in excitement, and thick lips that part on an immediate agreement. Not only does an agreement follow, but he also immediately starts to ask what he should bring. What kind of get-together is it? Does he need to know anything beforehand? How does he need to dress, because heâll be damned if he shows up underdressed when meeting the family of the person he loves. He only stops worrying when you tell him exactly what the function is â a cookout â and what heâs expected to bring â some dish that your mom/grandmother/auntie or other family member is requesting. And once those questions are answered, he goes straight to worrying about making sure itâs up to their standards. You have no idea why, but your family gives you and him the job of bringing the macaroni (and not any store-bought macaroni- theyâll know the difference). When he learns that it has to be homemade and that its a staple in the entire cookout, he instantly looks up recipes while thinking back to the ones his ma or abuela would use, wanting to put his own spin on it while also wanting to make a good first impression. It gets to the point where you find him up late one night, his phoneâs screen illuminating his features from where he lays beside you. Heâd turn his phone to you sheepishly, apologizing for the bright light and displaying a page called âhow not to make macaroni and cheeseâ or something along those lines with a sheepish smile.
âThink theyâll like this one?â âTeoâŚbabyâŚitâs 3 am.â â...youâre right, I should look for another one-â
The days leading up to the cookout are spent with him constantly going on about how excited he is to meet your family â specifically the cousins youâre the closest to and have mentioned before. In response, you warn him that your family can beâŚa bit much, specifically when someone brings their partner around. They have a tendency to ask too many questions, get a little too comfortable joking around, and are just all around loud and obnoxious sometimesâŚand heâd only reassure you with a knowing smirk and a raised eyebrow that not only is his family the same, but heâs so used to being around large families as his used to have get togethers all the time. Heâs dealt with it before, and it'd be worth it to deal with it again if it meant he got to meet your folks. Despite the sentiments, you still warn him â especially of that aunt who always likes to make smart-ass comments and loves calling others out despite having her own problems in her life, to which he lets you know that heâs dealt with one of those and heâll make sure that yâall are far away from that aunt at all times. He would offer to keep you dancing all night just so you had an excuse to not talk to that person, which would only lead to a conversation involving line dances.Â
Despite Mateo's affinity for the punk/skater aesthetic, Iâd like to think that his Hispanic roots have resulted in him having a good sense of rhythm. I also like to think that he listens to a lot of music in his spare time, fostering an appreciation for different genres. With that being said, I think our boy could keep up with the line dances. When you offer to teach him a few just for fun, heâd be excited as hell, his lips curling into a full-blown smile as heâd watch you turn the music on and scroll through the first âcookout line danceâ playlist you find. When you find a suitable one and try to teach him, heâd be playful about the entire thing, claiming that he needs you to do it a few times although you know its just so he can see you dance, his eyes lingering heavily on your hips as you do so. And when you finally get him to join you, you realize that he may not have the steps down, but heâs got enough swag and rhythm to keep up and look like he knows what heâs doing, which is enough.Â
âOne more time, princesa- I promise. Iâll get it this time.â âYouâre just looking at my ass, Mateo-â âI have no idea what youâre talking about.â (with a shit eating grin on his face)
NowâŚwhen it gets to the day of the cookout, you two would be up pretty early, going to get the supplies to make the macaroni before starting on it at home. Heâd want to help so badly, but heâd also have no problem getting your input on it â after all, it is your family and you know how they usually like their macaroni. But heâd also insist on doing most of it himself which would result in about a few hours of him moving around the kitchen with a focused look on his face. His focus is only broken by you checking in on him, it instantly changing to a cocky, yet playful, smirk as he would nod to the pan thatâs in the oven.Â
âHowâs it goin, baby?â âLook at that masterpiece and tell me how itâs goin, mi carino. You see that golden brown on the top, you smell that delicious, scrumptious, decadent-â âAaaalright, thatâs enough-â
You know I have to mention the process of picking out outfits. I absolutely believe that Mateo would not only be down for, but would love being one of those couples that wears complimenting outfits. Not matching completely, but maybe having one article of clothing thatâs the same color or maybe even wearing the same accessories. You two have too much personality and style to limit yourselves to wearing the exact same thing when going out, so he would love to wear complimenting outfits. Heâd always make sure to pick colors that you enjoy wearing despite thinking that you look beautiful in every color.Â
âWhat about green?â âOhâŚwellâŚyou know I donât exactly look the best in green, baby.â âI wholeheartedly disagree, but we can look for something else, mi amor. No problem-â
I think that heâd be so invested in making sure yâall look good that heâd kind of forget about the macaroni that's in the oven. You canât even blame him, because youâd be able to see the excitement radiating off of him as he gets ready, so youâd just gently, but amusedly, remind him.Â
âTeo.â âYeah?â âYour macaroni-â âMierda- my macaroni-!â
His attention would instantly switch to the macaroni, so much so that heâd still be standing in the kitchen, his eyes on the oven when you walk in fully dressed with Wingman trailing behind you, Mateoâs shirt in his beak as he chirps and trills. You wouldnât be able to understand him, but you donât really have to to understand the comedic radivoreâs noises. Youâd only be able to nod and agree with the little guy as you both watch Mateo hurriedly throw on his shirt before taking out the macaroni.Â
NowâŚlets get to the cookout itself. Heâd hear the music and chatter immediately after stepping out of the car and would just look at you with a smile and excited eyes, offering to take the dish with one hand and your hand with the other. Youâd be able to see that recognition in his eyes, the myriad of sounds that signify a family fellowship being ever so familiar to him. Homeboy would walk in the door with a wide and inviting smile, greeting people politely while also showing that he can be rather extroverted when he wants to be. Of course, he gets the typical âthis must be yo lil friendâ from your family members, but he takes it in stride. But while taking it all in stride, heâd also make sure to kiss your cheek, your forehead, hold your hand, wrap an arm around your waistâ anything to show that the words âlil friendâ are just a title your family members have given him, and that the truth is heâs yours.Â
Heâd show the macaroni to the family member(s) in charge of the food, watching with baited breath as they take the foil off of the top, their eyes looking at the golden-brown cheese on top before looking up at you two with a smile.Â
âOooh, this looks good, Y/N.â âActually, Mateo made it. I just helped him when he needed it; it was all him.â
Heâd absolutely be geeked when they turn to him with an impressed look, their smile widening as they set it on the table with the rest of the food. And if you thought he had a big head when being told that it looked good, itâs nothing compared to when the first family member comes up and tells him that it tasted good. Chile, youâd never hear the end of itâŚthough you donât want to. Itâd be endearing and sweet that he takes so much pride in making something your family enjoys. And when it comes to him actually eating the food prepared, he would not hold his appreciation back. Thereâd be a lot of âwho made thisâ, followed by just as many âdios mioâs as he can dish out. The same goes for the dessert portion, especially the homemade pound cakes from your family members. Yeah, heâd have no problem asking for a to-go box; one for food, and one for dessert.Â
Throughout the duration of the cookout, heâd find himself constantly in conversation with someone from your family, whether it be because he had been pulled into a conversation, or whether it was because someone approached him with the intent of asking questions. Either way, Mateo would be game for any question asked, usually answering with an air of confidence, friendliness, and humor that made others love him instantly. When asked questions about you twoâs relationship, heâd be quick and incredibly willing to answer, his eyes glancing at you adoringly as he does so with a smile on his face. Itâd get to a point where you would have to ârescueâ him from more questions, citing that you wanted to dance just to get him away from your family member(s). And heâd happily let you pull him away, however, not before promising the uncles gathered around a table that heâd play spades with them the next round.Â
At some point in the night, youâd lose him for a few minutes, coming back to his empty seat after fixing a plate of dessert for both of you, and after scouring the yard, hoping that he hasnât gotten himself into a less than pleasant conversation, you finally find him. Except he isnât in a conversation- not with an adult, anyway. No, heâs seated in the yard, not too far at all from the kids table, smiling widely as the kids from your family gather around him. Their hands reach for and gently run over his hair, the dyed shapes and colors instantly catching their attention as they speak over each other, asking him questions.
âWhyâd you do that to your hair?â âDid it hurt? Whyâd you pick spots?â âMy mama says people who dye their hair like that donât want a job.â âCan I do that to my hair?â
Youâd only be able to watch in fondness for a few minutes as he struggles to answer their questions, his facial expression showing exactly how much he enjoyed being the center of attention for the kids. It would get to a point where heâd look up at you with an expression that screamed for help despite the smile still on his face, and you wouldnât hesitate in rescuing him. Youâd never seen Mateo around kids before now, but going off of the vibes and interactions youâd see, itâd be easy to come to the conclusion that heâs pretty okay with kids. Because of his chill demeanor, not only is he seen as âcoolâ to the youngins, but heâs also easy to interact with. It would certainly help that heâs got a little crew of adorable creatures who are intelligent enough to interact carefully with the kids. Thereâd be peels of laughter and excited chatter as Wingman does a trick when prompted by Mateo. Thereâd also be a time where Wingman turns to Mateo, chirping quickly and constantly looking back at the kidsâŚand after a short conversation between the two, heâd probably smile, nodding his head towards the kids with a âhave fun, be carefulâ. Thatâd be the only thing Wingman needs to hear before turning and joining the group of kids in their activities, the laughter being a constant noise as long as the creature is interacting with them.Â
When it gets to the end of the night and people start filtering out of the yard, heâd check in with you, asking you if youâre tired or if you still want to hang around with a look of understanding for whatever answer you give. It's only when you smile tiredly and sheepishly at him that heâd nod with a smile, telling you that maybe it's time to go. It wouldnât be long before you two have a bag with your to-go boxes in them, making your rounds with your family members and saying goodnight. Heâd leave Wingman to play with the remaining kids until itâd be time to go, waving him over once you two are ready to leave. (You canât help but feel like you two have your own little family, and the earlier sight of him interacting with the kids certainly adds fuel to that thought).Â
The ride home would be spent going over certain conversations and interactions that had happened during the night, showing just how attentive Mateo had been the entire night. Youâd also learn of some of the conversations heâd had when you werenât aroundâŚand heâd instantly wave away your apologies for the nature of those conversations, an easygoing and amused smile on his face as he does so.
âPlease tell me she did not say that to you- Iâm so sorry, love-â âNo need to say sorry. It was pretty funny, so its okay, mi cielito. SoâŚyou tried to turn the speed all the way up on the treadmill, yeah?â âYeah, thatâs enough of that-â
To put it simply: Mateo would be ecstatic that he not only got to spend an entire day with you and your family, but that he got to see how you interact with your family. Itâs truly nothing like seeing the love of your life in their safe space with people they trust. He couldâve sat and watched you speak to cousins, aunties, uncles, whoever else and wouldâve been completely satisfied. Heâd go to bed thinking about the glow you had on your face as you spoke to family members youâd missed, and how heâd heard and seen you genuinely laugh with cousins when recounting old stories, and how you and your family connected over food, music, and fellowship...and yeah, heâd have to admit to himself in the middle of the night, while holding you close, that he couldnât wait to have that with you in the future.
A/N: I hope that was fun to read, it was certainly fun to write! Once again, this is my first time writing for this character that I just found out about like...two weeks ago, y'all...be patient with me while I'm learning. BUT I'm gonna really try to write more this summer because I definitely won't have time to in the fall, so keep an eye out!

SHADOW KNIGHT HEADCANNONS PT 2
These headcannons are more physical appearance wise and identification than the last ones đGENE-Gene is 6'1 with black hair he tries so hard to sweep to the side. He had Zenix pierce his ears and bellybutton after his mom wouldnt let him get them pierced. (It was a disaster). He is hispanic and speaks fluent spanish, mostly when he cusses or has private conversations with Dante. He wears chunky bracelets he got from hot topic and buys a lot of fast fashion. He smoke a lot purely because he wants to look cool. He has a leaner build due to eating healthy, but he's too lazy to work out. He has like good posture (debatable) bc he can do those rlly hot poses when hes standing over you bullying you. Shops at forever21 secretly. His love language is gift giving and he loves to give little trinkets to Sasha and Zenix.
SASHA-Shes the second tallest of the group, being 5'7. Sasha loves making her own clothes (mostly to cope) and is somewhat of a pastel goth. She makes fun of Gene a LOT for his fast fashion. Sasha is albino and has white, long eyelashes. Shes always chewing gum or some type of little thing. She is aroace and is always there for her friends when they need her. She has a secret love and admiration for Kandi. She loves tattooing people and drawing intricate things. She cuts her own hair. Loves Sephora and does Genes eyeliner. She's their event planner (when they decide to have one) and the others would crash and burn without her.
ZENIX-I know i think i said smth abt his height beforw but i LIED. He's 5'4 (its cannon im his shoes) and he wears the pink glittery shoes he bought with Aphmau. His first 2 years, he's really insecure but then realizes hes awesome and embraces chaotic glitter as his thing. He ALWAYS has glitter on random places, like all over his hair ir down his face. He has darker skin than Gene and Sasha and has curlier hair. He sometimes wears his hair in twists and has bright red and pink beads in his hair. Sucky ass posture (as ive mentioned before) and that stupid jacket hes always wearing (yes, its technically his season 3 jacket but i love it so much idc) He thrifts a LOT for his clothes. Sasha has tried to teach him how to sew, but he always gets mad and rage quits. He has adhd and is always doing something or moving. He sucks at being sneaky due to the constant stomping around and yelling. He naturally radiates off so much heat (whether its just natural or all the rage radiating off) Zenix doesnt like labeling himself amd believes sexuality is a conspiracy and a social construct. Hes big into conspiracies and aliens and all of that stuff

An 11-year-old Texas girl who killed herself after being bullied about her familyâs immigration status told friends she was inappropriately touched by a family member, according to shocking findings by her Texas school district.
Jocelyn Rojo Carranza was found unresponsive in her familyâs Gainesville home on Feb. 3 and died in the hospital after five days of intensive care.
The little girlâs mother, Marbella Carranza, claimed her daughter was bullied by students at Gainesville Intermediate School. She said they mocked her because of the familyâs immigration status and threatened to call Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
The Gainesville Independent School District launched an investigation and confirmed that a student on Carranzaâs bus made comments about ICE and deportation to a group of Hispanic students and that the girl was in earshot, according to the findings.
Carranza reported the incident to her principal on Jan. 30 after the topic of ICE came up again in class, the district said. The district found that it was not the only time such an incident occurred and said the student was disciplined.
After Carranzaâs hospitalization the following week, students came forward to school officials and said that the girl and one of her brothers were the victims of bullying, which spurred the investigation.
Kids also told administrators about Carranzaâs disturbing claims of abuse, which she asked them to keep a secret.
âIt was reported by multiple students that [Carranza] told them that she had been inappropriately touched by a family member and wished to keep this a secret to avoid getting them in trouble,â Superintendent DesMontes Stewart said in the report.
The district reported the claims to Child Protective Services, and said it is investigating.
The district also found that the girl had previously expressed thoughts of self-harm to her cousin, who allegedly informed Carranzaâs mother, and that she told a counselor in October about getting in trouble at home and being called names by her siblings.
The district said it would have provided resources if it knew about Carranzaâs wanting to harm herself and said she participated in a social-emotional learning group, which her mother granted permission for her to attend.
Her mom, however, has maintained that she was kept in the dark about her young daughter seeking counseling.
âNothing about that is true,â Carranzaâs mother told NBC affiliate KXAS-TV regarding the districtâs findings, including the abuse.
âI talk with my daughter about that, always ⌠Nobody can touch your body. Nobody,â she told the outlet, adding that she has hired a lawyer and was waiting to respond to the district.
âGISD has remained fully supportive of the family throughout this difficult time,â Stewart, the superintendent, said in a statement.
âThe districtâs schools, PTO groups, and staff donations have contributed thousands of dollars, as well as gift cards and food to support the familyâs needs,â he added. âAdditionally, I personally met with the mother and a family member to address any questions they had regarding the investigation.â
Carranzaâs funeral was held on Feb. 19.
She was survived by her parents and six siblings and was remembered by her love of singing and dancing, according to an obituary.
If you are struggling with suicidal thoughts or are experiencing a mental health crisis and live in New York City, you can call 1-888-NYC-WELL for free and confidential crisis counseling. If you live outside the five boroughs, you can dial the 24/7 National Suicide Prevention hotline at 988 or go to SuicidePreventionLifeline.org.

Knowing when not to speak
When i was in 3rd grade, a friend of mine, my neighbor, was doing the old "finger eyes" asian mocking thing while saying "ching chong wai!" at another student on the bus. after we got off the bus, i told him that doing that was kind of racist (i wasn't as confident about speaking as i am now).
He told me it wasn't. He was italian.
that is my first memory of a white person telling me something isn't racist when i brought it up. It was not the last. here i am, over 30 years later, and folks are still saying it.
It is because he had never experienced racism of that nature before. he had no reference points. his radar wasn't up for that.
Mine was. Most PoC have had their radar up their entire lives. Since even before they knew what that was. it comes naturally.
it is frustrating because when white americans want to but in with their opinions, PoC generally say, "your opinion doesn't matter."
but i want to be clear. It isn't because you are white.
It is because you lack the experience or education to speak on these things.
Like if i met a white person who grew up in korea, and faced xenophobia in korea, then they would have some experience. Hell, my brothers and i faced some of that racism in korea just for being mixed koreans. But if a white person had that experience, then they could have a nuanced opinion on subtle racism.
However, and i cannot stress this enough, there is a limit to what you have experience with even in that situation.
Take me for example. I have experienced racism due to being hispanic, being asian, and for being mixed race. So i can speak to my experience on all three of those vectors and subtle racism in general.
You know what i don't shove down other people's throats? My opinion on racism that black people experience. Or anti-semetism. because even my experience does not reach those topics. I'm not white. So you cannot blame whiteness for my exclusion from having my opinion listened to. It is because of my lack of experience.
so please, excluding white, inexperienced voices when we discuss racism is not, in an of itself, racism. it is simply a judgement call based on experience.
So please, know when you SHOULD NOT speak.
