I'm actually completely in agreement with you here and it's strictly because in 3.0, 3.1, and even in 3.2 he was the one advocating for us to remain objective and merely act as observers in the situation. In 3.0 he wanted to pretty much leave right away. It's understandable considering they were attacked as soon as they got there and then nearly executed by the political leader for betraying an oath to her. But he still landed in an apocalyptic scenario, became strangely uninterested in the history for an archivist, and then advocated becoming as uninvolved as possible. It's understandable, but in direct contrast with his words here. He doesn't hesitate to leave a dying people completely without aid if we choose to leave in 3.0. Then in 3.1 he not only tried make himself as uninvolved with the Chrysos Heirs as possible. Once again it's somewhat understandable, because conflict with the Chrysos Heirs and the Council of Elders came up and we as Trailblaizers, objectively, don't know shit about any of that. Dan Heng wanted us off taking sides, to the point if we point out the Elder's are obvious bad guys he objects. This, I think, is understandable enough. He likely assumed he was inherently biased against the Elders since...well...his own Preceptors.

That does not change the fact that, in an actively apocalyptic scenario where people are all going to die a horrific and souless death with only one solution for possibly saving them, he's still focused only on getting he and Stelle alone out of here. He still uninvolved us in his head as much as possible despite the fact that, like it or not, we're HERE now. And being here means we're as subject to the fate of the Black Tide as much as anyone else. A fate which, by now, we've learned is worse than death.

It's understandable. It's all understandable.

It's not in line with what he says here.

Dan Heng seems to have a very different idea of Trailblaizing to what we've mostly seen so far. It seems to me that Trailblaizing, despite it's many rules, is more of an induvial decision sort of thing. I don't think it's supposed to be an inherently heroic path. But rather that it becomes that way because, well, it seems to be based on the Heroic Journey, so getting involved with other people's problems is an inherent heroic journey.

Himeko's character stories, where she focuses a lot on the fact that all Trailblaizers will someday get off the train once they find their place, supports this. But I digress. My point here is it seems to me that Akivilli set up Trailblaizing to optimize as much travel and personal journeying as possible and left everything else up to interpretation.

Anyway, back to Dan Heng.

It's only in 3.2 when he even starts to open up. And even then I think it's because Hyacine reminds him of March 7th. Either way, he's being worn down at last. And now, faced with the fact that these are real people he's starting to care for, as well as evidence that suggests his bias against the Elders IS justified, he's starting to crack and care.

Dan Heng, here, is not being the Trailblaizer he wants to be. He's not being a Trailblizer at all, if we follow Himeko's dialog about it. What he's doing is acting like the man he wants to be. What he wants is to be the "ideal" Trailblaizers we met on Penacony, who did give up their journey to find their place in the revolution in the Dreamscape. He wants to be like how he sees Mikhail.

Ironically, Mikhail stayed in Penacony because he fell in love with Hanunue and wanted to help with the revolution.

My point here is, ultimately, Dan Heng isn't doing this for Trailblaizing reasons. He's doing this because, like Dan Feng, he has VERY few people he cares about, but for the ones he does he LOCKS IN. And those people he considers his "companions". Until now he's only ever used that word specifically for the Astral Express crew (with Jing Yuan being given the title of "friend" after a lot of character development). But now he's added the Chrysos Heirs to it. So he, like Dan Feng, is locked in.

If Trailblaizing is the Heroic Journey and all about finding your own meaning and purpose in life, then it seems to me that Dan Heng has found HIS Trailblaizing end goal. And that's to become THIS version of himself. But, ultimately, what Trailblaizing means to him is no longer "leaving the past behind" as he originally stated in the bedroom decorating event. But rather it's now LOCKING IN FOR THE BESTIES.

it must be said that Dan Heng is a hypocrite with a very selective saviour complex.

Need I remind you who three patches ago was ready to leave Amphoreus completely to their fate?

Based on the dates given for Mydei and Hyacine's ascensions, the Trailblazers have been on Amphoreus for roughly a year (though it doesn't seem like that long has passed on the outside... but that's a problem for another post), so is he really doing his duty as a Trailblazer, or did he get attached?

basically, there's a good chance Dan Heng is just flat out lying here. That he would not be doing this for total strangers, and is doing it now only because he grew to care for Amphoreus' people. Even then, he's basically the only one who isn't willing to give his life for the Era Nova- he outright tells the Trailblazer he refuses to die.

The reason he says this, then- he wants to see himself this way. He wants to believe he is kind and selfless. And he is kind, certainly. But trying to force himself to be selfless is probably not a good idea; the reason the Xianzhou used him for so long is because he most likely thought it would be selfish to see himself as human, to make choices for himself.

In other words, Dan Heng is still very much in the process of learning that it's okay to want or not want things.

Okay so we're all expecting Phainon to turn evil right? Playing through this game reminds me of reading Madeline's Miller book. I have personal issues with the book mainly the portrayal of Patroclus but I still read on. I've also read the Illiad way before so I know how it's gonna end. But that little unreasonable voice on your head is still in denial. That somehow this retelling would have a happy ending. We all know Patroclus is gonna die and Achilles will fly into a rage and immediately follow him. The point is having the predictable conclusion does not really negate or ruin the journey you took to get there. Smugness is only one of the emotions you'll feel once your prediction is proven right. There will be others. I'm mentally prepared for a greek Tragedy.

How did I cope after reading Miller's book?

I bust myself up and played Hades I again. Great video game btw. I loved the character design, story and interpretation of Achilles and Patroclus there. They're dead and in the underworld so some people treat it as some continuation of Miller's book.

Anyway, the next story better be Phainon having his faith shaken, broken and his eventual fall to the Flame Reaver. Though the Aquila boss is revealed so maybe his story will be joint with Hyacine or be next.

You both are trashcan goblins together. With your combined power, will and friendship, you give both Dan Heng and March 7th a run for their money, and scare every Silvermane Guard there is in Belebog.

That is not a joke, by the way—March 7th is constantly wondering how you two manage to pull this off while Dan Heng is sipping away at Himeko's coffee contemplating what sin he committed to be damned like this.

You and Caelus love to talk about a bunch of crazy things that make no sense without context. You both did this once on Herta's Space Station and some of the researchers nearby thought they were going insane just listening to you two talk.

You both met after Himeko invited Caelus onto the express. Like two peas in a pod, you both surprisingly have a lot in common. You showed him the wonders of comedy while he showed you the wonders of eccentricity. It was amazing!

Between the two of you, March and Dan Heng are definitely the two that facepalm, while Himeko chuckles at your antics. Welt is in the middle, because of course he is (/nm /endearing)

Collecting lights in the Hollow Woods is the most optimal and fastest way to do anything in the game (granted you've farmed up to a certain level and have unlocked all the upgrades, which takes a while) You want to level up your horse ? Collect lights. You want to make a quick buck ? Collect lights. You want to farm for the latest trailblaizer ? Collect lights. You want to farm for plants and crafts ? Well you can find a lot of them really quickly in the Hollow Woods so guess you'll be collecting lights while you're at it You want to wait for the next championship but you are alone and bored out of your mind ? Might as well collect lights instead of scrolling on your phone for 30min Which on one hand is very practical, and in a way I am thankful this was an option for me when I desperately needed Shillings to buy tack and clothes during seasonal events. But also I've gone from "barely ever going to Valedale except for quests" to "I now spend 90% of my time in-game in the Hollow Woods, and I am starting to get really bored about it" I will say though, it's cool SSE managed to turn the Hollow Woods into such an important point of interest, and a pretty one at that.

Okay, but what about yandere Topaz x trailblaizer reader? There is just something that Herta finds interesting about the reader. Maybe is becouse how much they willing to help people and save the people. And something, made Topaz having soft side for them. She would use manipulation on her darling, to make them come her to become HERS. But, this time, darling doesn't like her back. Sure, Topaz did changed her mind and showed that she does care about Belebog, but the reader still does not like that Topaz is part of IPC

Honkai: Star Rail - Dan Heng x Jing Yuan

[500 Followers Milestone Event - "Discovery"]

A/N: Hii anon, thank you so much for your support, heheh. I tweaked a little bit the prompt, so I hope you don't really mind it. I had a reaaally hard time trying to figure how to write this pairing out, but It turned out quite nicely... I think. Anyway, I hope you like it, hehe ~

Summary: After spending some time with the general, Dan Heng finds out something pretty interesting after engaging in one of his games

Word count: 1702 words

“Are you sure you don’t want to come with us?” March 7th pouted, crossing her arms while Caelus and Welt stood behind her, waiting for Dan Heng’s answer. After the latest events in the Xianzhou Luofu, the crew was finally able to catch some rest before departing to the next destination. And, thanks to the insistence of the general and the master diviner, Welt suggested they should, indeed, spend some more time around. But…

“Yes,” Dan Heng said with a slight smile, looking down before he resumed speaking. “There are a few things I need to take care of and… I’m not sure how welcomed it would be if I walked around the Xianzhou looking like… this,” he muttered, knowing very well how much he resembled a certain person.

The girl was ready to nag him some more, but feeling Welt’s touch in her shoulder, March decided to let it be. “Alright, just call us if anything happens, ok?” The man said, looking at the other two, “let’s get going, then, the ms. Fu Xuan wouldn’t like it if we showed up late.”

Slowly waving his hand, Dan Heng said goodbye to the members of the Astral Express as they walked out the room. It was a large, fancy place, requested by no other than the general himself to accommodate their honorable guests.

The general…

Dan Heng let out a sigh when Jing Yuan’s figure occupied his mind. He wasn’t sure how to feel about him yet, nor what kind of relationship his past self used to have with the general, but it wouldn’t be right to say that there was no feeling at all. It was just… uncertain.

Letting himself get lost in a turmoil of thoughts, one after the other, Dan Heng was caught off guard when someone suddenly knocked on the door. Shooting his eyes open, the vidyadhara turned his attention to the door, as whoever was on the other side knocked again. “Just a second,” he voiced, walking over. “Who’s there?”

He could feel the hesitation on the other side, letting the silence take place for a few seconds before the other person would finally speak. “Did I come at a bad time?” A male voice chuckled, making its identity clear.

Opening the door, Dan Heng was met with the general friendly gaze. A warm, but contained smile formed on his lips. “Not at all, general, but… do you need something? May I be of help?”

“Ahaha, there is no need for such formalities between us,” Jing Yuan said, shaking his head, “I was just hoping I could invite you for a walk. The gardens have been somewhat… lonely lately and I’d love to hear more about you.”

If Dan Heng’s tail was visible at that moment, Jing Yuan would be able to see it wagging in excitement.

“Ah… sure, it would be a pleasure.”

Taking a step back, Jing Yuan gave the other some room to step out, closing the door behind him before starting to walk side by side with the general. Dan Heng was still confused, not able to figure out exactly how he felt towards Jing Yuan and, even more, if those were his or Dan Feng’s feelings.

As they arrived in the gardens, Dan Heng couldn’t help but feel a sense of familiarity towards that place, but, at the same time, curiosity to walk deeper into it.

“You- I mean, Dan Feng used to come here often,” Jing Yuan said from behind, hoping to not disturb the other’s experience, “well, at least when Yingxing wasn’t around, hahah.”

Gently lifting a flower from the ground to feel its scent, Dan Heng let out a small chuckle hearing the other’s mistake. An habit that at first annoyed him, but, after spending more time with the general, he began to find it more amusing. “I see… and I suppose this was where you met him the most? What else did you two used to do when he came over?”

The general sighed in contempt, shaking his head as he chuckled softly. “It all used to happen when I was younger, hahah. You’ll have to apologize to me, but this old man’s head isn’t as good as it used to be back then.”

Dan Heng arched his eyebrow, turning his attention back to Jing Yuan, who was fondly smiling at him. “If you don’t wish to share it, general, there is no need to lie to me,” he pouted lightly, to the level where it was almost unnoticeable.

“I’m not lying,” Jing Yuan insisted, raising his hands in front of his chest. Dan Heng sighed, he didn’t seem to want to push the matter further, having a bad feeling about it, but he couldn’t help but feel a little upset. “I swear I can’t remember, don’t be mad ~” Jing Yuan mused as he walked over, watching the Vidyadhara Elder slightly turn his face away.

“You are acting just like Yanqing when I turn his spar requests down,” the general teased, noticing how Dan Heng insisted on treating him with silence. “If you keep this up, I’ll have to treat you like I treat him, then.”

Dan Heng needed to keep looking away, otherwise Jing Yuan would be able to see his lips curling into a smile as well. This playful approach of the general enticed his curiosity even further, making him wonder what he had up his sleeve.

Then, before he could wonder about Jing Yuan’s next step, Dan Heng felt a pair of hands attack both his sides, gently squeezing the spot. Letting out a surprised - and embarrassingly loud - squeal, Dan Heng quickly moved away from the general, turning back to him with an annoyed look. "What was that about?!"

"Oh, so you were listening to me, huh?" Jing Yuan laughed, wiggling his fingers menacingly towards Dan Heng. "But it seems you are pretty sensitive…"

"Don't you dare, general. Or I-"

"Or you what, Dan Heng? Come on, it's just a little tickling…" He took one step forward, making the other take one step back, trying to keep the distance between them the same despite Jing Yuan`s attempts to get closer.

"Or I will tickle you," Dan Heng said, not thinking properly before snapping back at the general. Those words, however, only seemed to amuse Jing Yuan even further, making his grin grow larger. There was no way he was letting such a discovery slip through his fingers like that.

"Oh? You'll tickle me?" He continued in a defiant tone, trying to read through him. If it was Dan Feng, he would be sent flying away in a blast of water for trying such a thing. But Dan Heng? He was pretty sure he could beat him in this kind of fight.

Tired of waiting, Jing Yuan decided to make the first move, reaching out his hand towards the other man. However, as he was merely inches away from Dan Heng, the general could only catch a glimpse of his tail moving in a defensive manner, landing a heavy - but not so strong - strike against his middle, enough to tackle him to the ground.

Letting out an audible grunt when his back hit the gardens’ ground, Jing Yuan could only let out a chuckle. “Sorry, sorry, I didn’t mean to ann-”

“I warned you, general,” Dan Heng interrupted him, smirking as he sat down on the other’s lap, his nimble hands already finding their way to Jing Yuan’s waist, pinching the spot through the cloth in his way. “And it seems… you are also a little sensitive, hm?”

A crooked smile quickly formed on his lips as some panicked giggles escaped. Wait, was he for real? Was he actually fighting back like that? The general tried to hold his wrists and push him away, twisting his torso as he attempted to escape. “D-Dan Feheng, wait- ahaAH!”

A louder cackle escaped right before he could say something else. The vidyadhara gave him a stern look, shaking his head in disapproval. “That’s not my name, general, how many times do I need to tell you that I’m not him?” Dan Heng said, feigning annoyance as he dug a little harder on Jing Yuan’s sides.

But there was no doubt this wasn’t the former elder, not a single one. After all, Jing Yuan knew very well Dan Feng would never engage in his “foolish and childish” games. Maybe that was the reason why his reincarnation could catch him off guard so easily.

“S-sohohohorry! A-ahAHah, y-you can stohohop now!” 

“Didn’t you say yourself that “it’s just a little tickling”?” Dan Heng mused with a smile, clawing at the general sides, making his laughter grow a little louder. If anyone from the Astral Express saw him right now, he wasn’t sure how he would explain himself - but it was just too early to stop.

With his legs immobilized under Dan Heng’s tail’s weight and his waist straddled, there was very little room for Jing Yuan to squirm - not to mention the fact that the other placed himself in such a way that he was sitting just out of the general’s reach, make it actually really hard (or impossible) to properly fight back the tickling. “I-I wahas wrohohong, Dan Heheheng!”

Jing Yuan pressed his eyes shut and laid his head back as he gave himself into the laughter, unable to do anything else other than hope to receive some mercy. “AhahAH, j-juhust quihihit it!”

Dan Heng slowly stopped moving his fingers, chuckling to himself. It was a rare sight to see the general laugh so carefreely, a much different sight from his usual self. “Guess Yanqing isn’t the only one that needs to learn… how to properly pick up a fight, huh?”

“A-ah, I suppose… I still have a few things to learn…” Jing Yuan sighed in relief, shyly giggling at himself. Just when he thought it was over, the general could feel the tip of the other’s tail tapping against his leg. Taken by curiosity, he opened his eyes, looking up to Dan Heng to be met with a mischievous grin.

“So… let’s see if you really learned your lesson, general.”

“Hah… surely, I look forward your teaching, Dan Heng.”

if Harry wants to be an icon and legend then he needs to improve his music first of all. His lyrics and songwriting are very weak (cocaine, side boob choke her with a sea view is not going down in history) and those who become legends and icons in the industry do so because they’re innovative and take risks! Bowie, Freddie Mercury etc also became legends because they were very interesting artists too. I’m sure Harry will have longevity, but he can’t become a legend when he’s too derivative and unoriginal. And when a younger, more attractive male pop star arrives on to the scene then Harry will be forgotten.

They can blow people away, mesmerise and enchant people, and draw attention without resorting to cheap marketing tricks. They're entertainers, interesting people, trailblaizers who write and perform timeless music. It's themes with broad appeal, relatable songwriting and distinct voices. People with confidence who love what they do, and are not just out there seeking fame and money. They love their craft, they're not just performers or a puppet on a string for their music label.

If H wants to reach icon status and be remembered and honoured as a legend, even after his death, he needs to change his branding and marketing strategy. Harry Styles tm is not built to last. He's built to make as much money as possible out of young adults until they move past their obsession.
