#Transformers: Robots in Disguise

As a longtime Transformers Prime fan, there are few things more annoying than other fans who act like TFP was some flawlessly executed masterpiece to justify their obsession with hating RID2015.

"But RID doesn't reference TFP enough!!"

Yeah, that's not a RID problem: that's an Aligned Transformers problem. Despite its name, this continuity is hilariously well-known for not really "aligning" its different installments. TFP and Rescue Bots hardly ever referenced each other, and when they did, they were almost always super vague about it. Not to mention how little the events of the Aligned novels ever get brought up in any of the shows.

"But the character designs are too different from TFP!!!"

Again — welcome to Aligned Transformers. Nearly every installment of this continuity has its own designs/looks for the same exact characters.

"But resurrecting Optimus Prime was so disrespectful to Predacons Rising-"

My siblings in Primus, this is TRANSFORMERS.

How many times has Optimus Prime died a noble & dramatic death, only to get resurrected like he's alien robot Jesus? It happens all the time. It happened in G1 twice. How in the world is RID "disrespectful" for doing one of the most common and predictable tropes in the entire franchise?! 🤣

There's nothing wrong with criticizing the flaws and missteps of RID2015. Hell, I love that show, and I have TONS of critiques about what didn't work and what could've been done better.

But guess what? I still love the show! I loved it even when it was a hot mess, because it was a fun hot mess!

Every "critique" of RID that boils down to "it's not Prime 2.0" reads as incredibly lazy and shallow to me. It's the same old superiority complex that cycles through every generation of Transformers fans: any show that isn't their favorite is "trash", and anyone who disagrees has "bad taste".

A show doesn't need to be perfect to be enjoyable.

RID2015 isn't perfect.

TFP isn't perfect.

Aligned Transformers isn't perfect.

And I love them. Imperfections and all.

Getting my HasLab set today has me thinking… if RiD2001 were made today, given how much more protective Hasbro is over brand and name identity, would Ultra Magnus instead be named Sentinel Prime?

Serious nature Lopunny/Pangoro for Strongarm.

Adamant nature Haxorus/Tyrantrum for Grimlock.

Sassy nature Duraludon for Jazz.

Calm nature Vespiquen(?)/Raichu for Bumblebee.

Naïve nature Growlithe-Arcanine for Fixit.

Hasty nature Rapidash/Boltund for Blurr.

Careful nature Golisopod for Ratchet.

Bold nature Vikavolt for Windblade.

Brave nature (Mega likely!) Lucario for Optimus Prime.

Mix and match for the best variety and success! All of these pokémon are available in pokémon Sword, with alternatives for those who do not have the Armor DLC (like myself) so one could conceivably make such a team a reality!
