Charles, Laurent, Andrea and Xavi explaining what pre-race prep entails [originally broadcast as part of a feature on Canal+ ahead of the British Grand Prix 2019]
bezz wants to make celestino jealous and naturally mig is the best choice to be his fake boyfriend bc they’re always together anyway, and bezz loves mig! And mig is happy to play along because it’s not exactly a hardship to cuddle bezz and like, pet his hair and kiss his cheeks and hold his hand
And then obviously we know how fake dating au’s go, they pretend to date and bezz discovers ✨feelings✨ he didn’t know he had
this is probably such a reach but i was thinking about font in pentiment as representation of andreas’ perception and just realized that caspar has the same dialogue font as andreas—which to this point in the game has been used only for laity with a university education or “close enough” to it as in the case of the baron, who we see transition from scribe to humanist when andreas finds out that he is highly educated though not of the university. but up to this point we’ve only seen it used on adults
unlike all the other instances of this font we’ve seen, caspar is a teenager. and i doubt he could’ve gone to the university or received the depth of education that the baron got which enabled the font switch…
(edited to reflect the fact i made a mistake—caspar is, in fact, the only non-adult who gets humanist text. the point, however, still stands. i think even if you—as andreas—treat caspar coldly, andreas still sees caspar as an intellectual equal. someone, possibly, like how his own son could have been.)
Not to be too dramatic about it, but yes, the animator’s and character designers based Treasure Planet Jim on James Dean, and yes, they did a good job.
I mean, look at the eye-mask effect and the line under the eye along the cheekbone:
That hand-drawn, animated Jim Hawkins could be channeling James Dean’s ghost
We need to talk seriously here. I used to like Joy. Or rather, I knew her little but I had high expectations for her at the end of s2. But then they decided to use her character like a plot device for creating drama and more sus for us as viewers. But in the end I think she is gonna be the endgame for Charles so I feel very guilty saying I don't like the idea anymore.
And that's sad bc she actually loves him, she does!! And I loved the idea that the one for him it could be her, the exuberant make up artist. But all the "I've been waiting for years for you to change" topic doesnt sit right with me. Not for a character like Charles. He is ok and perfect in his way. He is trying A LOT to change but not in the forced way. Love is not about changing is about acceptance in first place yy
And at the same time, maybe she is gonna accept him but for me it will be read almost as a defeat.
Idk mmh maybe Im wrong and I'm just speculating, sorry, a terrible place is my mind now.
And yet again, I am being drawn to a mysterious, miserable-looking, but ridiculously handsome fictional character, who knows more than he lets on.
Main features:
• Arrives to the scene all mysterious, intense and looking suspicious.
• Usually looks either dirty or wet from his travels (through some tunnels, for example).
• Sad, sad eyes.
• Is in a good shape, but you can't tell from all the layers of clothes he's wearing.
• Looks like he could kill you, but is actually a cinnamon roll.
• Somehow is a definition of "that man is so fine".
• Does that "Demi Moore teardrop from one eye", that is absolutely heartbreaking and you can't help but feel for them.
• Tirelessly tries to find a loophole and break this circle of suffering, in order to save the woman he loves so devotedly, even though she doesn't recognise him as first.
• Is seen to be using 3 "artifacts": a futuristic light (for the time), a mostly analogue device, that is also sort of "out of place", and a little something to guide the way.
