Hey american tumblruser. Wanna do more about The Moment than harass your representatives (you're harassing your representatives, right?) but for any/all reasons you're not up to leaving your house to do it?
Look up your local organizations, pick your favorites. Get familiar, whatever that means in this context. Read over their website, scroll through their facebook page, watch any volunteer orientations, attend a zoom open house.
Once you are, reach out and ask if they need anyone to handle a mundane administrative task. Pick one you're familiar with, or can get familiar with, either that you can do sustainably or something that's a one-off, like building or cleaning up a website.
(I picked, "reply to emails asking questions that are already answered by your website.")
Lots of political/community orgs are getting a surge of activity right now. Good odds they're run by worn-out retirees. If they get an email saying, "I'm only available 30 minutes a week but do you need any data entry done?" or "Would you like some help line-editing your weekly newsletter?" the odds are very good they might actually physically cry with relief.
It's not glamorous, but it feels real good and it is important work. You won't make history but you'll know where you stood inside it.

Unless and until the current "leaders" are gone, and replaced by fighters who give a fuck about working people, I'm done with fundraising and knocking on doors and all the other work I did for years, just so Cuck Schumer (ha! that was not an intentional typo! the h on my keyboard didn't connect, and now I can't change it) could stab me and people like me in the back on his way back to his mansion.
The Democratic Party needs our own Tea Party movement to take the party back from people like Schumer and Jefferies. We need to send Fetterman into the wilderness for the rest of his life.
There are good people who want to fight for the middle class and the working poor and all the marginalized, vulnerable people who Schumer and the Vichy fucks who also voted yes abandoned.
There are good people who want to be elected Democrats who will not throw the Trans community and all of our Trans siblings under the bus in an effort to appeal to shitty dirtbags who will never vote for a Democrat.
There are good people who will fight for you, who will fight to preserve human rights in America and around the world, even -- especially -- if it pisses off the billionaires who own Schumer and the Vichy Democrats.
We just need to get the Schumers and the Fettermans and the rest of them out of the way. We may risk some losses on the way, but ask yourselves: what's the practical difference between a Republican who votes for MAGA terror and a Democrat who votes for MAGA terror?
There's no point to us working for and electing Democrats who are going to behave like Republicans when it counts. In fact, it's shooting ourselves in the foot and the face all at once.
Make them earn our donations, our time, our energy, our willingness to reach out to everyone we can, and don't ever let them forget what happened to the Vichy fucks who didn't.
Make them afraid of us, so they work for us or get out of the way for someone who will.

the assholes of the current admin removed the incredible, thorough, scholarly research study that was sponsored by the NPS about LGBTQ+ life in America and American LGBTQ+ history from the NPS website. Suspecting that they would, in fact do this, I downloaded a copy of it, which you can now find (and download) here.
Fuck them for deleting this important piece of scholarly research and writing about LGBTQ+ history in America. We're here and we're queer (as in fuck you). We have ALWAYS been here and no matter what they do, they can't change that.

Cruelty. Is. The. Point.
There are not words to describe the level of sheer EVIL on display by this administration. Gleefully cutting contracts that would prevent fraud and identity theft of American citizens.
There's not much more to say here. The MAGA movement is founded on evil and they aren't even trying to conceal it anymore.

New York lawmakers proposed three new bills last week that would make it difficult for wage theft violators to conduct business in the state. The legislation would bolster the power of state agencies to crack down on wage theft by stripping violators of their liquor licenses or business licenses, as well as issuing stop-work orders against them. The legislation was prompted by reports of rampant wage theft against New York workers, including two investigations published by Documented and ProPublica. The stories revealed that more than 127,000 New Yorkers have been victims of wage theft during a recent five-year period, but that the New York State Department of Labor was unable to recover $79 million in back wages owed to the workers. The stories were based on an analysis of two databases of wage theft violations obtained from the U.S. and New York Labor departments. The databases provided previously unreported details on how much money had been stolen from workers and also shed light on which businesses had committed wage theft. “We knew from our conversations with labor and from our constituent service caseload that wage theft is a chronic problem,” said Sen. Jessica Ramos, a Democrat who sponsored the legislation. “We did not have the data to understand the scale of the issue in New York state until the ProPublica and Documented series came out last year. Having this reporting as a tool set us up to put this package together and focused our attention on” the capacity of the Department of Labor. The legislation — dubbed the “wage theft deterrence package” by lawmakers — includes three bills, which are co-sponsored in the State Assembly by Assembly members Kenny Burgos, Harvey Epstein and Linda Rosenthal.

Every single Republican whoever pretended they cared about Hillary Clinton's emails needs to be on this story right now. Every journalist who blew up Hillary Clinton's emails into a big story needs to be covering this signal chat story right now. This needs to be the headline news for the entirety of the administration honestly.

Quote
Defending the country against the United States is now the sole issue in Canadian politics.
A Hostile Northern Border
This is a gut punch. I love Canada. I wish we were more like Canada. I am deeply disgusted with the government I did not vote for and do not support.
Fuck Trump and fuck everyone who supports him. I will never forget and I will never forgive the people who did this.

it is nice to see Americans support Luigi and bring up how evil our healthcare system is, I think it will fall on deaf ears with the next administration. Americans need to decide if our current healthcare needs to change or stay the same. so far, a lot of people in this country are squeamish about socialized healthcare.
I don't think Americans have it in them to unite & fight against the elite like it's Les Mis. we let the police & feds attack us while peacefully sitting down in a designated free speech zone. how does a revolution start with that and the fact that a lot of groups have no strong leaders or are unorganized?
a majority of people in this country simp for rich people like they're gods and don't realize that those rich people see them as human cattle. it's not to sound hopeless (but I am a little apathetic), I'm just realistic about how Americans are. face it, us Americans mobilize quicker for Stanley Cups & getting angry over pronouns than our rights. our individualism will lead to our downfall.
