She walked up to old house, bag on her shoulder, pen and paper in her hand. She checks the address again before hopping the fence and walking to the door.

She pounds on it incessantly and waits for it to open. Yelling can be heard from inside, telling her to 'wait a damn minute.' A young brunet woman throws the door open and glares at her.

"We ain't buyin' shit." Fiona goes to slam the door but the girl shoved her foot in between.

"Mikhailo! Are you here?!" She yelled into the house. The other girl stares at her oddly.

"Rosie?!" A voice called out to her.

Rose pushed passed the other woman and walked into the house. Rose walked over to Mickey, who was standing there seemingly dumbfounded, with a smile on his face.

Mickey walked towards her and hugged her, lifting her into the air and spinning her as he did.

When he put her down her demeanour suddenly changed. She slapped him upside the head and he let out a loud 'ow'.

"The fuck was that for?" Mickey asked in a groan, rubbing the back of his head.

"You had a baby and didn't tell me, you got married twice and didn't tell me! Come on Mikhailo. You think I wouldn't be mad that you lied to me?" She asked.

He sighed and looked at his feet sadly.

" I was afraid to tell you. I was afraid that you would be disappointed in me. because... because I married a man. And because Terry made me marry Svetlana." Mickey's eyes watered and his voice broke.

She looked into his eyes softly and pet the side of his face lovingly.

"Mikhailo, I practically raised you before Terry sent me away. I love you no matter what. I don't care who you love as long as you are treated well." He swiped a hand under his eye and smiled down at her.

"And... you don't have to worry about Terry anymore." He looked at her confused.

"What do you mean I don't have to worry?" Mickey asked.

"You remember what I used to say Mikhailo, if I found out that he hurt you or your sister. I have friends that helped me." His eyes widened.

"You didn't kill him, did you?" Mickey said, scared.

"No no of course not, I just put a dead horse in his bed. All of it, mafia style."

"What the fuck Rosie?! First of all you're thinking the godfather, second they only put in the head. How the hell did you get a whole damn horse in the house?!" She chuckled.

"I said I put all of it in his bed, I didn't say it was whole." He looked at her in a mixture of fear and amazement.

"I love you Rosie."

She smiled at him, someone coughed behind them. Fiona looked at Rosie oddly. She noticed a tall red headed man walk down the stairs and stand across the from her and Mickey.

Rose just now realized that three tiny heads were peaked over the edge of the couch. A little boy, a little girl and an older dark skinned boy.

"Hey Mick, who's this?" Ian asked almost timidly. Mickey's eyes widened as he looked between them.

"Shit. Ian this is Rosie." He held is hands towards her in a 'look at this' motion. Rosie chuckled softly at him.

"Yes, Mikhailo. Introduce us, please." Mickey laughed and blushed slightly. Ian stared in confusion, who was making Mickey blush?

"Yes, yes. yes, sorry The girl's name is Fiona, the boy's name is Liam, and the little girl's name is Franny. They are Ian's brothers and sisters. This is Ian, my husband, and this is Yevgeny. My son." Her eyes widened.

Rose chuckled and walked towards Ian, with her arms open. She hugged him tightly as he stood there awkwardly. Rose turned to face Mickey as she spoke.

"Mikhailo! He is so attractive! Really! Does he treat you well, he cleans? Gives you good orgasms? And not shitty half assed ones, good ones?" He laughed and bent over, embarrassed.

"Rosie! You can just ask stuff like that! There are kids here!"

"And I bet you haven't been teaching them the mother tongue! Your Ukrainian is rusty at best. Mikhailo." She teased him lightly.

"Ha ha, very funny. And yes." She sniggers at him.

"It's very nice to meet you Ian." She said with a slight accent. He looked shocked at the sudden language change, but nodded and smiled at her.

Rose turned away from Ian and towards Fiona.

"It's lovely to meet you Fiona." She walked towards the couch happily.

"Hello, My name is Rose. You are Liam and Franny, yes?" They both nodded.

"Yeah I'm Liam, it's nice to meet you Rose." He said kindly. Liam seemed more timid then the other two.

"I'm Franny. How do you know uncle Mickey? Why do you talk funny? It's that your secret language?" She asked excitedly.

"I knew your Uncle Mickey when he was very little. I'm from Ukraine so I have an accent and it's not a secret language. But when we were younger we pretended it was." Rose smiled at all of the girls questions.

Rose then turned to Yevgeny. He was wearing a small blue outfit and was playing with some oversized building blocks.

"Hello Yevgeny. I'm your auntie Rosie. Yes, I'm your auntie. I'm going to spoil you so much!" She smiled and tickled him.

Be babbled away and slammed his blocks together forcefully. The Tv behind them played something long forgotten.

"You can pick him up if y'a want Rosie, I know you won't drop him." Mickey said jokingly. She scoffed and chuckled in return.

Rose slowing slipped her arms up his sides and grabbed him under his armpits. She shifted her weight to put one hand under him and the other on his back.

Rose glanced up to Mickey with a smile on her face as she bounced the cheerful boy in her arms.  Fiona looked around the room awkwardly.

"Liam, Fran, lunch time." Fiona herded the kids into the kitchen, Mickey and Ian stayed in the living room.

"We let Fi feed the kids first they get crazy." Mickey said.

"So Ian come sit, let's talk about your intentions with my Mikhailo." Ian blushed and walked over to the couch with Rose, Mickey following close behind.

Rose sat across from the couch on an old love seat while Mickey and Ian sat next to each other.

"So I take it Mikhailo hasn't talked about me?" She asked. Ian chuckled awkwardly.

"It never came up." She scowled at Mickey.

"Mikhailo!" Ian sniggered at the pair, their dynamic was quite amusing to him.

"So you said you were Ukrainian?" Ian asked, leaning forward.

"Yes I am, my parents sent me over when I was around five. Terry had the kids a few years later, I stayed until he sent me away." Ian nodded in understanding.

"Oh! Mikhailo I don't know how you made such a quiet baby. I remember when you were this age, you always wanted to be doing something and you never wanted to wear clothes." Mickey blushed.

"Rosie!" She laughed at him.

"It's true Mikhailo. Ian I swear this one day I was trying to get Mikhailo to go on a walk and he absolutely refused to put clothes on. Eventually I just gave up, he was running around in the backyard covered head to toe with mud, happy as a pig in shit that boy." Ian laughed as Mickey covered his face with his hands.

"Or, when Mandy came home the first time, Mikhailo looked over at her with this weird look. He grumbled and looked to me confused and said 'Rosie, where's his penis?' He was so concerned for her. He was convinced we left it at the hospital and we had to go back to get it." Rose laughed wholeheartedly along with Ian. Mickey was practically a cherry tomato at this point, dying of embarrassment.

Yevgeny stirred in her lap, getting fussier. Rose bounced him lightly on her lap leaning him back onto her chest.

“So Rose where are you staying? Is it close by?” Ian asked.

“I’ve booked a room at a motel near the Alibi.” She smiled down as Yevgeny as she spoke.

Mickey seemed startled and annoyed slightly. He immediately responded.

“You’re not staying at a motel, you’re gonna stay with us. Lip’s at college you can have his old room.” Her eyes widened and she looked between the two boys.

“Are you are alright with this, are you sure? I don’t want to disturb the peace here.” She looked to Ian.

“No of course not, Mickey’s right. You can stay here.” They both smiled at her.

“Alright then, I’ll go get my things later.”

“Table four said their chicken Kyiv isn’t saucy enough,” Ian said, sliding the plate across the heated pass. He braced himself for a blowup as he added, “They want another one.”

“A chicken Kyiv don’t have sauce, first of all,” Chef Milkovich’s grumpy voice answered him. “It’s filled with garlic butter. I can’t pump ‘em with any more, or they’ll burst. They already have enough to clog a fuckin’ artery.”

“I know, Mick—Chef,” Ian corrected himself. He ran a hand through his hair, tired from pasting on his customer service smile all night. “That’s just what she said.”

Mickey slammed his spatula down. He grabbed the plate, staring down at it. All that was left on it was the picked-over salad. The feta and tomatoes were missing; it was just a sad pile of arugula. “So, did the chicken disappear into thin fuckin’ air? Must have been plenty saucy enough for her to eat the whole fuckin’ thing. I ain’t re-firing this unless they’re payin’ for a double.”

“Yes, Chef. I’ll pass along the message.” Ian’s lips twitched into a genuine smile. Why was Milkovich kinda cute when he got all worked up? (He was worked up ninety-nine percent of the time.)

“Just call me Mickey,” Mickey said distractedly, turning his back on Ian, already busy firing another order from his queue of tickets. “Hate that ‘Chef’ shit.”

“Okay, Mickey.” Ian saw Mickey’s shoulders relax a little as he dropped a basket of perogies into the deep fryer.

Ian straightened one of Mickey’s tickets after noticing it barely hanging onto its clip, and then he returned to the front of the house to break the news to his oh-so-lovely patron.

After dinner service, he caught Mickey outside, tattooed and burn-scarred fingers loosely holding a cigarette, chef whites now stained colorfully from a busy night. Ian didn’t bother saying anything—he could see the exhaustion on Mickey’s face, in the crinkles of his downturned eyes, and Ian, himself, had been talking almost nonstop since four PM.

They shared a moment of peace, leaning against the brick wall of the alley behind the restaurant and decompressing. Ian loosened his tie and watched Mickey’s full lips purse and pinch. Watched him exhale smoke as powerfully as the oven when someone left a tray of pyrizhky in for too long.

Finally, Mickey rubbed his nose and glanced at Ian almost self-consciously. “Fuck you lookin’ at?”

You. “Nothing, sorry,” Ian responded, looking down the alleyway instead.

“I got somethin’ on my face?” Mickey wiped at his cheeks, then his forehead, frowning.

Ian chuckled. “No.”

Mickey let out an irritable huff. “Fuckin’ what, then?”

“Can I bum one?” Ian asked, even though that wasn’t what he wanted. He’d stopped smoking a few years ago.

“Fine, but bring your own next time, freckles.” Instead of giving Ian a new cigarette, Mickey held out his own.

Ian accepted it and took a drag. This time, he was the one being watched. Mickey’s eyes were piercing, and he was about as subtle as a brick. Ian enjoyed that about him. “Fuck you lookin’ at?” he teased.

“Fuck off,” Mickey said, but Ian noticed a rosiness growing along his ears. He pushed off the wall. “See ya tomorrow, Gallagher.”

“Call me Ian.” Or any of the other nicknames Mickey liked to use. “Hate that ‘Gallagher’ shit.”

He really did. It was a tag he used to be proud to wear, or at least faithful towards, in the same way a golden retriever was loyal to their owner even if said owner was horrible to them, but he didn’t like Mickey using it.

“Gonna call you Polly if you keep mimickin’ me,” Mickey griped. Ian laughed, and Mickey turned back to face him. “Alright. Ian. Happy?”

“That was difficult for you, huh.” Ian smiled at him, though. Slowly. He liked how his name sounded coming from the big boss. “Thanks.”

Mickey looked suddenly flustered, shifting his weight, hands twitching by his sides like they didn’t know what to do with themselves. “Yeah. You’re welcome. Whatever.”

Had Ian made him nervous?

Mickey went back inside the restaurant at record speed, the door slamming behind him. Ian grinned.

I wish they made Mickey more Ukrainian like using the Ukrainian Language with nickname or even having terry shouting in Ukrainian in the background or Mickey talking to his brother in Ukrainian .

I wish his backstory was as more fleshed out .

Like I feel like terry or both of mickeys parents were Ukrainian born and I feel like it could go with why Mickey seems bad with English Maybe he rarely spoke it until he was 5/6 but it was never a primary language in his household until his mother died/disappeared around 15/16?

OKAY DON'T WORRY I'VE GOT A LOT OF THEM TO SHARE WITH YOU I HOPE YOU'RE READY FOR SOME GOOD WLW FEM!GALLAVICH FEELS (these may be a little all over the place but just roll with me here okay? okay here we go)

to start with, Ian is a nickname for Lillian, Mickey is a nickname for Mykhaila (Ukrainian feminine form of Mikhailo)—they'd still go by Ian and Mickey, because if Lip can be a nickname for Phillip then all bets are fucking off :p

technically all of this started with my brain going "lesbian gallavich with hella self image issues" because they don't feel like they can measure up to their "prettier" sister (Mandy and Fiona) but both of them thinking the other is gorgeous as hell. Mickey being kind of a femme/butch (which is why she's the one who calls the shots with her brothers, she's the tomboy compared to Mandy), and Ian wanting to be all pretty and femme but doesn't think there's a point to it because money and also she doesn't think highly of herself

things would be way different for them both as lesbians—Ian would definitely still be the forgotten middle child, although she and Lip would still be Fiona's backup ("you two are my rocks") because I refuse to believe that girl Ian wouldn't be just as committed to ROTC and fitness as canon Ian. She'd be able to kick anyone's ass any day of the week. I think she'd really look up to Lip and ofc he'd love Ian as his little sister but like, with the same kind of condescending vibe he gives Fiona and Debbie? Although maybe since they're practically twins his misogyny toward Ian wouldn't be as blatant.

she'd still be taller than him (tallest Gallagher no matter what!) and have long red hair that she just throws back in a bun or ponytail all military style. I can't see her having short hair just because short cuts can be a lot to maintain, better just to let it grow and keep it pulled back. (I know, I've thought way too much about the little stuff lol)

Mickey would be very punk. With an undercut and all kinds of piercings. Mandy gets more attention from boys but Mickey does get her share, although of course she's like blegh. She'd rather be kicking ass and taking names and proving to her dad that she's just as good at being a fuckin Milkovich as Iggy and Colin—she's got more brains than both of them combined and she's smart as a whip when it comes to doing math, as well as where scamming people is concerned. Terry would begrudgingly acknowledge this but never misses a chance to put her down because she's just another dumb bitch. Only serves to make Mickey more determined to show what she can do, though, and her brothers and cousins are no match for her when it comes to scrappy back alley fighting. She climbed to the top of the heap early on and punches out anyone who tries to take her on.

Ian absolutely falls in the lesbian stereotype of wearing flannel constantly. I feel like she would want to do girly sorts of things but like, doesn't feel she'd measure up to Fiona or other girls so she just sticks with "comfortable" as her main fashion staple. Her and Debbie probably share a room too, although as I said above, she's still super close with Lip. Debbie would ADORE her big sister, would look up to and admire Ian because they've got so much in common—it might even be that she finds Ian's lesbian porn and that's how she knows about it ("penetration isn't required for sex to occur").

I'm not sure how they'd meet in this au but it would still probably involve Mickey chasing Ian around trying to beat her up lmao. my original thought was maybe like, either Mickey chased after Ian because of something Lip did in a reverse of canon, or Mandy thought Ian was talking shit about her. Regardless, the idea of 5'1" Mickey chasing after 5'9" Ian is hilarious especially because I feel like Ian would end up being almost six foot tall by the time she's done with puberty.

even once Ian and Mandy end up being bffs (there'd definitely be some miscommunication, but Ian doesn't wanna get murdered by the Milkovich siblings, so she manages to clear the air with Mandy when she can get away from Mickey and their brothers), Ian probably wouldn't tell Mandy she's gay, gotta keep that shit on lock. So once they're besties she's gotta endure all the boy talk and be like oh haha yeah totally…but at some point Mandy would figure it out, probably because she's not dumb and also Ian "play what cool" Gallagher is not as subtle as she thinks she is. But Mandy, other than asking if Ian has the hots for her ("you're beautiful, but I like you better as my friend"), is actually pretty chill and realizes she doesn't actually mind hanging out with a lesbo. Yes, Ian and Mandy and Mickey would use all the derogatory slurs that get used towards lesbians, although Ian is used to the casual homophobia and Mickey is the most homophobic gay ever (I feel like she'd definitely call herself a fag and a dyke once she gets more comfortable in her identity).

idk how the whole grooming thing with Kash and Ned would transfer over—maybe Ned would be some rich lesbian cougar who wants a kept girl or something. But that's unfortunately a big part of Ian's character, the middle kid who's the only one to be physically abused (and yeah, Frank would still hit Ian, boy or girl), and is desperate for any kind of affection so attaches to anyone who gives it. Kash might be a (seemingly) meek wife to some bruiser of a husband who's short and has small dog syndrome, and that makes her sympathetic in Ian's eyes, thus making it easier for her to take advantage of Ian. I try not to think about Kash too much but it is an important part of Ian's self-image

I'm gonna talk about s3 in its own post because I have some Thoughts and Ideas for some changes to make things interesting :p

season 4 would be really even more depressing because I think that when Ian is manic (there'd be no running away to the army because she couldn't use Lip's identity; instead she'd go straight her sugar mama and from there calls Monica when things get too wild) she'd end up getting pimped out by Monica to really gross straight dudes—not that there aren't creeper lesbians who like younger women, but in general it'd be easier for her to find a job stripping at a regular club (lesbian bars don't seem to have the same opportunities as a straight bar or a men's gay bar do wrt making money). Poor Lip and Debbie finding her in the skimpiest outfit, worse than anything Fiona ever had to wear for a job, with way too much makeup on and dollar bills tucked in her underwear, coked out as hell, skinny enough you can see her hipbones, brain and mouth going about 300 miles a minute...ugh.

But Mickey coming and bringing her home safe and sound <3 beating up the skeevy guys trying to roofie her <33 watching over Ian while she sleeps <333

In a happier train of thought, I love the idea that Mickey really likes Ian's long hair and plays with it when she's not really thinking and Ian gets all 😍😍😍 because it means Mickey might like her omg. Mickey has a partial undercut and Ian loves the texture of the shaved part of her hair. Tells her not to let it grow back out and everything.

Mickey having to stand on her tiptoes to kiss her stupidly tall gf ("You're too tall, Red" "Complain all you want, Mick, you know you like it”). Mickey likes getting manhandled but only by Ian—anyone else tries it and they're losing a hand. But Ian shoves her against a wall and does her whole cocky, smug, looming thing and Mickey can't help but melt in her arms (not that she'd let Ian know about it, not at first; gotta make Gallagher work for that shit. Just cause she's a fag doesn't mean that she's anyone's bitch!).

I also like to think that Ian would try the super femme thing in s4 era and Mickey, once out, would be a little more comfortable being more butch, but they both come off as a mix? I just love the idea of fem!gallavich playing with gender stuff in that very specific lesbian relationship with gender—on one of Mickey's more butch days Ian jokes and calling Mickey her boyfriend and Mickey being like oh

personally I feel like Mickey in her dyke era (s5) is an absolute pint-sized powerhouse, and still an absolute fashion icon because those cut-off vests? the tank tops? perfection🤌🏻

most of my thoughts are of early gallavich because I think things would go much differently since Sammi can't call the MPs on Ian in this au, but lemme just say that there's some fun stuff I'll be adding in another ask to add to the DRAMA

Calli, any Milkovich sibling HC, But stuck on those for a bit.

Iggy knew/suspected Mickey was gay. He didn’t care. He might not be the smartest but he knows his siblings. If he’d been around when Terry found out, he would have defended Mickey. Years later, Mickey shares what happened when Terry caught him and Ian and it makes Iggy so angry.

He never finds out what Terry did to Mandy. Neither does Mickey. Colin suspected but was never sure and never asks in case he’s wrong.

Mandy’s favourite sibling is Mickey. (Not that she’d ever tell him that). She was never that close to Iggy or Colin. But they do care for each other in their own ways.

Once Mandy leaves Chicago, she tracks down Molly. They keep in touch and become closer as time goes on.

Iggy and Colin are in and out of prison a lot but by their late twenties, they get their shit together and stay out of jail for good.

Over time, the siblings have regular meet-ups. They bicker a lot. But it’s fun and nice. They don’t really talk about the darkness of their childhoods or Terry much and if they do, they try and joke about it so as not to get too angsty about things.

They have a sibling group chat which is them roasting the fuck out of each other and also full of selfies where their flipping off the camera.

When Iggy gets out of jail for the last time, Mickey gives him a temporary job at his and Ian’s security business. But Iggy’s good at it, so he becomes a permanent employee. (Despite the fact he constantly teases Mickey)

Mandy wanted to go to Ian and Mickey’s wedding but found the idea of going back to Chicago and seeing everyone too much. She sent them a good present - a really expensive bottle of champagne and two fancy glasses. When they drink it, they share a toast to her.

When Terry dies, she moves back to Chicago. She thought it would be difficult but she finds it freeing knowing she’s living and thriving in the city while he’s dead.

Laura was not the perfect mother but she did try and they all have a handful of good memories about her. She came very close to taking them all and leaving Terry at one point but it never worked out. The siblings don’t know how close they came to having a better childhood.

As adults, they get really drunk one evening and all get matching ‘m’ tattoos on their wrists.

The siblings fought and argued as kids but they always shared food and looked after each other if one got sick or injured. It wasn’t always perfect. They didn’t always know what to do but they tried.

They all wore the same hand me downs. Even Mandy until she hit her teenage years and Laura gave her some of her old clothes. Mandy was big into thrift shopping because Laura took her once. She becomes an expert in finding clothes that look trendy but were cheap. She still gets bullied at lot at school but she pretends it doesn’t bother her.

They all end in therapy at one point or another. Some for longer than others. But they all find it helpful in certain ways.

The best memories they have about their childhood involve staying up late and watching shitty movies, crushed together on the couch. All of them talking over the actual movie and giving their own commentaries. This only happened when Terry was in jail or passed out.

One year they attempt to make some Ukrainian food that Laura made one year. It’s a bit of a disaster but they have fun doing it, even if what they make doesn’t taste that good.

They’re not as close as the Gallagher siblings but they do care and love each other in their own Milkovich way.

Mickey milkovich is definitely bilingual. The 2 languages I think it would make most sense him speaking are Ukrainian and Spanish for obvious reasons (he is Ukrainian and he lived in Mexico). It's such a cute think to imagine into storys like did he speak Ukrainian at home growing up or mickey and franny having their own 'secret language' speaking Spanish together. Laura Milkovich is 19 years old when she gives birth to her third baby, Mikhailo. It’s the 10th of August in 1994, her husband is in jail and she’s a mother once again. Mikhailo, a classic name to carry the Ukrainian heritage, Mickey for short because he’s tiny and makes little squeaky noises like a mouse.

She finds Mickey to be an easy going baby. He’s quiet most of the time, pleasantly happy to sleep in the worn out crib carried down from other Milkovich babies and loud when he needed to be so she was able to hear him over the loudness of the Milkovich household.

When Terry’s gone the house tends to be quieter. Terry’s brothers and other relatives not wanting to be in a house with children, leave her alone for the most part so she’s able to play house and pretend like her life is on track.

7. Yevgeny Mikhailovich Milkovich-Gallagher is so underutilized. I want so many fick about Yev growing up with his dads sharing custody with Svet. I want Mickey and Svet raising him to be bilingual in Russian and Ukrainian, and I want him to have a lot of Ian's disposition, and I want Yev to ask Ian to adopt him when he's older, and Yev calling Ian Dad and Mickey Papa. I love yevgeny so much. I want him to be a little mini-me Mickey and too smart for his own good and Mickey worries that he's not smart enough to keep up with him, but Ian comforting him and keeping him from thinking that way. I want Ian afraid that Yev doesn't see him as his dad, that he doesn't know how much he loves him.

GALLADRABBLES : TRADITION 🥞

I did get in to learning Ukrainian traditions and forgot I was supposed to finding something to write about but I did finally get to writing and I feel like this is a very fitting tradition that Mickey would partake in :) @galladrabbles

Although Mickey never tapped into his Ukrainian heritage he remembered one tradition his mother would partake in and this stuck with Mickey after her disappearance.

Now he celebrates it with his husband - Maslenitsa, A week of pancakes in March.

Mickey doesn't really care about the send off of winter and welcoming of the spring but he does care that he can officially have a week for different types of pancakes that he forces his husband to make and he can call it a tradition with out Ian complaining ..too much at least about how he need to eat something health.

🍪 ian the baker: we make a good team 🥟

this month @gallacrafts and @shamelesscreatorsnetwork teamed up to create an awesome collaborative event!

@too-schoolforcool and i teamed up to bake memory-filled treats from the boys' childhoods. i made monica's 🍪 everything but the kitchen sink cookies 🍪 and cherry made mama milkovich's 🥟 ukrainian varenyky 🥟 which the husbands have recreated to kick off new traditions on their first thanksgiving in their new apartment.

First thanksgiving in the new place and Ian wants to make it special. Wants to start fresh. New traditions. New memories. Happy ones to replace everything that’s come before.

And what better way to cement themselves as a new family than to bring in some traditions from their old ones. Bits of the good parts. The slivers of moments they actually want to remember.

Mickey brought to the table an age old Ukrainian cherry dumpling recipe his mom used to make which nearly made Ian cry. Now Ian has to come up with something equally as impressive.

Fiona was never much of a cook. Too busy working three jobs for things like that.

But he remembers the times when Monica would come around. When she’d turn up out of the blue with gifts and promises and endless energy. He didn’t get it then. Now he understands all too well.

He remembers her rushing around the kitchen, leaving a disaster in her wake. All the kids gathered around. “Debbie, what’s your favorite kind of cookie?” “Chocolate chip!” “And Carl, what about you?” “Potato chips!” “Ian?” “M&Ms!” Down the line until half the pantry had been dumped into the dough.

They should have been disgusting. Too much. Too disjointed. But they were perfect. Made just for them with something resembling the motherly love they all craved.

Mickey looks at him like he has two heads when Ian picks the cookies for their thanksgiving feast. But they invite the kids over and everyone gets to pick their favorite mix-ins and yeah, these are the traditions Ian wants to keep alive.

Pairing: Ian Gallagher/Mickey Milkovich Rating: No Rating, but on parr with Shamless Word Count: 29,936 (Part 1) Summary: Ian’s not exactly sure how the concept of family and kids came about, but he’s not unhappy with the topic. He’s also pretty sure that a chilly afternoon in March, sitting in a Jewish cemetery isn’t the place where they’d suddenly click on the subject.

Mickey pulls into a parking lot of a Ukrainian bakery, a place that is foreign to Ian.

“Ma used to love the cakes here. Used to get them for all the holidays an’ shit. Birthdays, Christmas, and all those random religious holidays. Shit,” he mumbles, turning the wheel and going in the direction of the Jewish cemetery.

I know this is like shouting into the void and I'm quite new in the fandom but maybe that's why I'm actually quite shocked everyone is considering Milkoviches to be Ukrainian? So like... no one understood the thing Svetlana said to Mickey was an insult? Bc Russians look down on Ukrainians (as I'm sure everyone has noticed this year) and consider them lesser which is why she insulted him that way. Also, she probably doesn't know where they're even from.

Later Frank says they came from Poland which yes, is next to Ukraine but we should also consider the fact that the name itself comes from the Serbian/Croatian or Slovak surname Milkovič.

Not to mention before his wedding the Polish lady in that bar talks to Mickey in Polish and he's like "I don't actually speak that" bc yea he's many generations after any of the family spoke it or any other language other than English.

Clearly, this is the creators' fault because they don't find European nations different and it's all the same to them which is probably why they keep messing with it all. Anyway, it's strange the rest of the family doesn't have Serbian names and only Micky does.

By the way, a simple google search will tell you that Mikhailo isn't Ukrainian but Serbian. And most of the family does have dark hair and blue eyes coloring like Serbians.

That's it, that's my piece and what's been bugging me while I tried to read some Gallavich lately.
