I'm not posting a lot lately, that because I'm packing the shop orders! I'm also moving out, preparing the next cons and the haikavember (yeah the nights are short 😂)

Here are some infos regarding the shop orders btw!

First, I packed about 66% of the orders last week, and I'm planning to start the shippings next week. So you should receive a track number very soon!

Secondly, the manufacturer for the standees is late, and by a lot. I placed the order for the standees in August, and they only shipped them last Friday.

Lastly, I'm used to Ulule/Kickstarter campaigns, so I usually wait to have received all the goodies to start the packages. But for the shop I'll do differently from now!

Also, I'm all alone to pack all the orders, so I hope you'll understand!

The summer of 2023 saw a rise in homophobic media campaigns that led to a slew of targeted attacks and violent bar raids in Beirut. One establishment was hosting a drag show when affiliates of a fascist group stormed in and assaulted patrons. In the weeks that followed, we invited Diva and Melanie Coxx, two of Beirut’s most coveted drag queens, to grace the cover of Safar’s eighth issue, ululating*. The tongue is used to ululate. Very long and loud ululations, zagharit (زغاريد), are traditionally performed to honor one’s life or accomplishments. Often it is an expression of profound emotion, such as grief or joy. The tongue here plays the central role in producing the sound, in collective expression, in song, and so forth.

To that end, we’re thrilled to present this newest issue of Safar, with its cover template meticulously redesigned by one of our favorite studios, @40mustaqel. New cover, new format, and a new issue on stands very soon. We hope you will consider placing a pre-sale order through our website to help support its release.

So, to make it brief, The OEtherium is like one of the best improvised character-and-fantasy-driven story from French artist on Deviantart.

I just find it really interesting in a lot of places ! They got magician who speak in "r", cat people, crazy scientist with phosphorescent blue hair, angel and demon, and some eldritch horror and other horrible things that happen to most characters if you actually follow the story, but overall, it's good stuff ! It's like they had a personal DnD with a specific theme, and somehow makes it coherent in one book + one prologue. Honestly, it has the potential to become a RPG kind of game, I don't know, I just think it's neat.

Initially, they had a Ulule campaign going on, but I couldn't finish this fan art in time... I really wanted to fix this.

I think most of you already give it a look, but otherwise, go, and give it a look !

It's a tie between "The cat of Helios" and "The flower crown and the seven rusalki" (I'm not counting my own votes)

However, I have good news and bad news.

The bad news is that the publishing process is way more complex than I expected, and I won't be able to publish the summer solstice book at the right date. Consequently, I have decided not to publish it this year, and to wait until next year so that I may really produce something of quality.

BUT! Because it's important for me to thank you for your attention, I will still post the bonus story on solstice day, Thursday June 20th. Considering the situation, I believe it will be "The flower crown and the seven rusalki", if only in honor of Pride Month ^^

The good news is that I have learned a lot from this experience, and that I can use that to bring you much better written and prepared work, also thanks to my fiancée who decided to handle communication ;)

I can already announce the new goal: "Six tales of the autumn equinox" which will come out late August, and this time you will get to participate thanks to an Ulule campaign and many perks!

Algerian boxer Khelif wins Olympic gold amid gender controversy

Algeria’s Imane Khelif, the female boxer thrust into the centre of a gender dispute at the Paris Games, beat China’s Yang Liu to claim the welterweight Olympic gold medal in crushing fashion, sending her newfound devotees into delirium on Friday.

Khelif, silver medallist at the 2022 World Championships, and Taiwan boxer Lin Yu-ting have been in the spotlight as part of a gender dispute in Paris that has dominated headlines and been the subject of much discussion on social media platforms.

Khelif, who won by unanimous decision, is the first Algerian woman to earn an Olympic boxing title and the first boxer from her country to claim gold since Hocine Soltani at Atlanta 1996. Women’s boxing has been in the Olympics since London 2012.

“This is my dream. Eight years, my dream. I’m Olympic champion, gold medallist. I’m very happy. Eight years, I work,” Khelif, 25, said.

“Eight years, no sleep. Eight years, tired. Now I’m Olympic champion. I’m very happy. I want to thank all the people come to support me. People, Algeria, and all the people, Paris.

“This gold medal is the best answer to the fierce campaign against me.”

Yang said: “I’m happy for her. I respect everybody and I will even learn from her (boxing wise).”

Janjaem Suwannapheng of Thailand and Taiwan’s Chen Nien-chin were awarded bronze.

Khelif and double world champion Lin were disqualified by the International Boxing Association (IBA) from the 2023 World Championships, with the body saying at a press conference during the Paris Games that a gender test had ruled them ineligible.

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) is using boxing eligibility rules in Paris that were applied at the 2016 and 2021 Olympics and which do not include gender testing.

High volume

The volume went up several notches to ear-splitting level when Khelif entered the arena on Friday in her red trunks and shirt for the last bout on a suffocating Parisian evening.

With sweat from the boxers and fans mixing together in the air there was a tropical feel to the night, the only slight breeze coming from the hundreds of flags being waved.

‘Imane, Imane, Imane!” the crowd chanted and screamed.

Yang must have felt lonely, the Chinese boxer being booed as she made her entrance.

Khelif, keeping her opponent at bay with her jab and taking control of the centre of the ring, landed an early left hook, soon followed by a right as she looked in total control.

She sent Yang to the ropes with a precise right hook at the start of the second round. Yang refused to back down but never found the right distance to threaten her opponent, who rode a wave of support on court Philippe Chatrier at Roland Garros.

The crowd cheered as Khelif’s corner carried her on their shoulders to the end of the stadium.

They roared even more when she jumped down and began shadow-boxing towards the stands to the tune of ‘Abdelkader’, from the cult album “1,2,3 Soleil” by three of the most famous French-Algerian singers: Cheb Khaled, Rachid Taha and Faudel.

It really had seemed as easy as ABC for Khelif as the Jackson Five song blared out over the speakers while the podium was built on the ring as another moment of celebration awaited.

The crowd started ululating, with the joyful high-pitched sound usually performed by women in the Arab world at weddings and celebrations reverberating through the arena before the Algerian anthem.

Khelif then embraced the other three women on the podium in a scene of sheer joy.

Khelif and Lin are competing at the Games after the IOC stripped the IBA of its status as the sport’s governing body in 2023 and took control of organising the boxing in Paris.

The IOC rejected the results of the IBA-ordered gender tests as arbitrary and illegitimate, saying there was no reason to conduct them – a stance backed on Friday by Human Rights Watch.

Kernel Stigmas is a great story about minority, prejudices and discrimination, featuring a main character being a woman from 1815 that wants to be a doctor and will be able to when she gets yeeted into a weird world. Amazing visuals, top notch world-building, 10/10 you should at least check it out

[ FR ] La campagne Ulule est terminée depuis lundi !!!! Elle a pu voir le jour et le livre pourra partir à l'impression ! Je suis tellement rassurée et heureuse ! J'avoue que je suis passée par toutes les émotions lors de la campagne. Mille mercis ! ♥

Quoiqu'il en soit, c'est une excellente nouvelle pour moi. Je vais pouvoir le présenter dans les prochains salons et conventions ! Mais ça m'a aussi bien montré que l'auto-édition et ce milieu devient de plus en plus difficile pour toutes et tous. C'est même plus dur maintenant de ce lancer qu'il y à 15 ans, voire même moins.

i lowkey feel like eddie knows how to sew/knit. just him sewing in his own patches to his vest 🥹 so yeah, eddie sewing something and you come to him for help

seeing as eddie and i both know how to sew this makes me go hdkshsksjsksbdksbdkdbkddjhdjdjd *glitches*

with dio loud and deafening in the background, neighbors might have mistaken the situation as eddie practicing with his beloved guitar, or prancing around his room like he's in a ozzy osbourne with a bat in his mouth, or writing down his campaign for the next game. something they thought eddie would do in all his metalhead psyche.

and they'll probably think they're hallucinating when they find out the truth.

no, because eddie munson sits on his bed with his back hunched, legs cross legged and head dipped down to take a closer look of the needle and the vest in his hands. he squints, his lamp bright and above him to give himself better visibility in the dim lights of his bedroom.

he bobs his head to holy diver, humming along with ronnie dio's ululate-like singing. his tongue pokes out, curled to graze his lips as he pushes the tiny needle up through the denim and accidentally pokes himself.

"shit," he winces, hands shaking as he feels blood flow through the minuscule hole. "ow."

with the loud music, he doesn't hear the door opening from outside and your frantic footsteps. so it's no surprise that he yells in fear when the door suddenly slams open to see your disheveled state — hair windblown from your fast biking, chest heaving heavily from the spent energy as your heart beats viciously against your ribcage.

"sweetheart," he reaches over to lower the boombox, his own heart calming down as you bend over and place your hand on your knees, wheezing as if you'd just drowned. "what are you doing here?"

"i-" you inhale, eyebrows furrowed and top lip curled. you raise your palm at him, as if to indicate that you need a second before you straighten your back and wipe the sweat off your forehead. "i- my shirt. i ripped my shirt yesterday. and- and you're like the only person i know who can sew other than my mom but she's not here so i came," you huff. "to you. my lovely boyfriend."

eddie stands up from his bed, sticking the needle to place it on some random spot as he approaches you. he takes your wet face into his hands and kisses your forehead, the salty sweat covering his lips. "get changed first babe,"

you do, with the offer of his bauhaus shirt that's a little bit bigger than you, almost like a short dress. and while eddie throws your sweaty shirt aside, you go back out to your bike where you forgot your shirt in the basket, and swiftly return to his bedroom where eddie patiently waits.

"oh, i remember that," he grins. "new store in starcourt just opened. i bought you that."

"yeah," you unfold the shirt, seeing a rip at the end. "sorry i accidentally ripped it. i almost cried."

"no need to cry," when he takes the shirt from your hands, you crawl to the bed and kneel behind him. "i can always fix your clothes, sweets."

you kiss the top of his head before you gather his hair into your hands, eddie pulling out a thread and easily slips it through the eye of the needle before he starts stitching. he winces when you tug hard on his hair, but it takes less than twenty seconds to put his hair into a loose bun before you're wrapping your arms around his neck with your hands hovering over his chest, picking at his red pick as eddie continues what he's doing.

"how'd you rip this anyway?" he asks, pulling his arm up to lock the thread.

"was rushing to get yoo-hoo at melvald's because they just restocked. and i know how much you've been crying about it—"

"—i wasn't crying about it—"

"—and so i had to go as soon as i could because somehow people are so cuckoo for yoo-hoo," you jest to him, resting your chin on the tuff of his curls. "but my shirt got caught by our neighbor's pointy fence and i ripped it,"

"'d you get it though?" his head lolls back so your nose bumps his, needle and shirt tight in his ringless hands. "the yoo-hoo?"

"unfortunately not yet," you kiss the tip of his nose, brushing his bangs away and eddie smiles, twirling your fingers at the loose strands of his bun. "i'll buy you one after though."

he puckers his lips until he can reach yours. eddie goes back to sewing. "that's awesome,"

and when he's done, eddie turns around and proudly shows you what he's achieved. you take the shirt gently, thumbs rubbing the soft fabric and over the stitch that's barely seen. you gawp at him. "thank you baby,"

"no problem," he leans down to kiss your forehead. "now you, boo, should come get yoo-hoo with me."

you take his fingers into your hands, seeing the way there's tiny little blotches of blood over the pads of his calloused skin. you kiss his bruised fingers, taking note the way his blush reaches his cheeks to the tip of his ears, before he laces his hands with yours and drags you away.
