People getting mad at these two designs for male and female protagonist in new VtM:B game as if these games' main design philosophy wasn't insane freedom of expression and gameplay. If you wanna make your female PC into a Bimbonator 3000 walking around in basically lingerie and sleeping her way to the top I assure you it will be not only possible, but encouraged by some routes (Malkavian, Toreador). EDIT: As it turns out, you can't play as Bimbonator 3000 and these are very tightly fixed characters, so this is basically a vampire themed GTA which is disappointing. I will still dunk on gamerdudes for getting mad the female character "looks like a man" as if being female magically gave you an hourglass figure and huge rack.

If a player names their character "Phyre" I will roll my eyes at them, haunted by memories of Revised Edition's example coterie containing Jillian, MortyxX and someone else whose name I don't remember because MortyxX burned out some crucial adjacent brain cells - but I will accept the name as valid because we've all been fifteen once.

If a developer insists that my character is named "Phyre" I am a lot less accommodating. You're supposed to be professionals. You're supposed to think "this character is meant to be an elder vampire who's reawakened in the psychic hellscape of the twenty-first century, let us name them accordingly" and you chose this gamertag-ass handle that sounds like a fifteen year old came up with it. And then you had the gall to force your decision on the poor hapless hopium addicts who'd pre-ordered the game, as if you expect them to have the general sense for the World as a fifteen year old.

If it was deliberate contempt for the audience I'd be fine with it, that's at least a bold and proper choice evidencing some backbone. It just says "this'll do," really, and I have a feeling that'll be the whole experience in microcosm.
