"why is there no design in anything anymore" there aren't designers anymore. like that is the answer. there are maybe 3 people on the planet still employed in graphic design and they are paid less than half of what their time is worth
#.jtxt#“did you see the new paypal logo” i did. i also saw everything else.#graphic design in 2024 is finding a nice font online and buying it and then typing your company's name into microsoft word#you can only generate profit by extracting value and where is the easiest source but to exploit and remove labor#an entire artistic field has been basically deleted. but so it goes

I don’t like when people ask how many books you plan to read/have read this year one because I think that’s a weird relationship to have to books and two because I think even reading a chapter or a portion of something is valuable. this is especially true with non-fiction but even with fiction I think any amount you read, even if you don’t read the entire thing, is not a failure or ‘incomplete’
#I read basically exclusively non fiction and every page I read is beneficial like I’m always learning something#like my relationship to reading is often extractive and utilitarian because of school and research#but that extractive process doesn’t require reading the whole text like 99.9% of the time#I’ve only read a third of Orientalism for example but like I have a good grasp of Said’s core arguments and concepts#and like part of how I finished authoritarian personality (a 1000 page book) was by skipping & skimming sections#like the whole is not always more valuable than its components#and also like ‘I read this book to complete it’ is not an insincere way to engage with a text but I feel like it’s limiting#if that’s your primary approach to reading. Like you read a book just to say you read it#& also more petty but I think that if your argument or thesis only works if people read 100% of your book then you’re doing a poor job#of getting your point across#again obviously it’s valuable to read and process whole complete texts not dismissing that but like#I don’t find a lot of inherent value in reading a book just to complete it u know

communist generative ai boosters on this website truly like
#generative ai#yes the cheating through school arguments can skew into personal chastisement instead of criticising the for-profit education system#that's hostile to learning in the first place#and yes the copyright defense is self-defeating and goofy#yes yeeeeeeeeeees i get it but fucking hell now the concept of art is bourgeois lmaao contrarian ass reactionary bullshit#whYYYYYYY are you fighting the alienation war on the side of alienation????#fucking unhinged cold-stream marxism really is just like -- what the fuck are you even fighting for? what even is the point of you?#sorry idk i just think that something that is actively and exponentially heightening capitalist alienation#while calcifying hyper-extractive private infrastructure to capture all energy production as we continue descending into climate chaos#and locking skills that our fucking species has cultivated through centuries of communicative learning behind an algorithmic black box#and doing it on the back of hyperexploitation of labour primarily in the neocolonial world#to try and sort and categorise the human experience into privately owned and traded bits of data capital#explicitly being used to streamline systematic emiseration and further erode human communal connection#OH I DON'T KNOW seems kind of bad!#seems kind of antithetical to and violent against the working class and our class struggle?#seems like everything - including technology - has a class character and isn't just neutral tools we can bend to our benefit#it is literally an exploitation; extraction; and alienation machine - idk maybe that isn't gonna aid the struggle#and flourishing of the full panoply of human experience that - i fucking hope - we're fighting for???#for the fullness of human creative liberation that can only come through the first step of socialist revolution???#that's what i'm fighting for anyway - idk what the fuck some of you are doing#fucking brittle economic marxists genuinely defending a technology that is demonstrably violent to the sources of all value:#the soil and the worker#but sure it'll be fine - abundance babey!#WHEW.

i wish i could isolate and chemically synthesize the distain i feel when i see when i see a twitter addict meme post about their gacha of choice's deep lore. I'm sure i could make a milly off the patent
#childish isnt the word but theres a sincere believe that the slot machine has some of the most indepth and best story of all time because#there happens to be a lot of it#if it were well written it wouldnt be delivered to you via text boxes in a gacha game.#i think im a proponent of integrity of the method of delivery when it comes to narative#medium is the message and whatnot#its hard for me to take any deep themes seriously when you're constantly jangling keys and strobelights around#this is a 20 minute cool down thought but gacha stories are always so strung along because there cannot be an end or definitive conclusion#because that would impede the slot machines ability to extract value from its user base#im talking in an empty room here but w/e#id trade at least 4 fingers for a permanent buff to global media literacy especially regarding narrative structure with regard to commercia#intent.#at the end of it what pisses me off the most isnt the naratives themselves but the unaware consumption of what they actually designed to do

"Maybe everything will settle down for Muro n Co"
What if Rametta joins New Passione because she can't see herself in a life that isnt defined by violence and shes angry at Muro [because the people who caused it are dead] because she was raised without hope of living a normal life and now she feels like shes being forced back out and is panicking because its all shes ever known.
#I am not making a choice yet#however... it compels me#I think she would end up working as a bodyguard under Cherry bc shes not trusted with Dina in information#or taking those of her team who wont peace out and reforming the extraction squad under cherry#God damn my ocs love angst. cant take a happy fucking ending at face value without throwing a spanner in the damn works

i am restraining myself from asking about pirate/siren landoscar OR the room service one (!!!!!!! alarms sirens screaming in my head) to force you to post a snippet but know that i want to. i REALLY WANT TO. no pressure but i want to climb inside your brain whenever i think about either of these
however i would like to ask about "may we see each other next time" pls and thank you <3 :)
ajskafsa hi lima!!! the alarm sirens are screaming in my head, too. unfortunately, the only snippets i'd have to post for those two are the ones you already know so. boring!!!
anyways. may we see each other next time (which is a line from perennial by jinjer) is an idea i had a few months ago in the middle of the night and then thought about again maybe once. which is why it's kinda weird.
it's lestappen and was sparked by the line “und wenn du mich küsst, dann ist die welt ein bisschen weniger scheiße” (and when you kiss me, then the world is a bit less shit) in songs für liam by kraftklub. it'd probably have to be a spy au or something similar because the whole point was that charles and max have very dangerous and stressful lives™️ and can only meet once a year around christmas time when everything calms down. so then, they rent out a cabin in the middle of nowhere for secrecy (realistically, the alps???) and spend a few days just resting, cherishing each other's presence etc. in my head it's very calm, slow, quiet and sweet.
and also potentially narrated by the cabin, according to my notes. i think that's because the one time i properly tried to write a fic, i realised that i can NOT write dialogue. like even less than everything else. the only thing that's actually in my notes is the paragraph under the cut. i don't know either.
wip-title game
This time, the blonde one arrives first. Very early, in fact. December has only just begun, the temperature outside is still dancing around freezing point and dragging out the descent into the frosty sub-zero degrees. Snow is still a long time coming, it’s not cold enough yet. Instead, the sky is a permanent grey and an icy wind warns of what’s to come. Nevertheless, the man is here. It’s early evening when he fishes the key out of the letterbox, unlocks the front door and steps into the dark hallway.
#gah i hope this has any entertainment value at least#there's something there i'm sure. it'd just take someone with actuall skill to extract that#tag games#ask games#f1 rpf#f1 fanfiction#lestappen#emy writes <3#<- absolute fucking lie but. in the name of organisation

every time i see someone misinterpret jason’s death i lose my mind a little more
#apollo didnt remember what its like to be human because jason died for him it was because jason stood up for him#jason had apollos word the moment he extracted that promise out of him#like note how every time apollo mentions being human he says its to ‘stand up for what you believe in’#and the first time he actually mentioned that theme it was about jason after jason revealed he stood up for apollo at the parthenon#jasons death was because of the self fulfilling prophecy which led to him valuing this promise he got over his own life#and also because he didnt want piper to die#which itself says so much about his character! this was a fully informed choice he made because thats who jason is!#he quite literally did not have to come but because he was told he could (herophile said ‘IF you come’ note the If) he decided he would#because he wants to help! he wants to protect piper! he thinks itll solidify a promise!#it was his decision to go regardless of him dying because by not going? not helping? that goes against his principles#and he values his principles so much you dont understand#LEO SAIDDDD. JASON DID AS HE ALWAYS DID HE SAVED THE DAY!!!!#jason grace

i am not anti-media-piracy, in fact i support it heartily on the media preservation level, and i have mixed but partially positive feelings about it on the individual choice/saving money level...
but the way some people talk about piracy like it's a heroic thing to do - not in the preservation sense, but in the 'fuck companies!!! if i can get something for free and screw them over, I'm fighting capitalism!' sense - oh some people sound like real goobers with those arguments.
#to me it's ... complicated#bc 100% i don't want media to be lost#and i have lots and lots of issues iwth the way modern entertainment companies try to extract profits/don't share revenue appropriately wit#all the people who actually MAKE the art.#i have lots of issues with that...!#however i am also an artist and have the crazy belief that art including movies tv games etc has value#and in our current world... paying for art/entertainment you enjoy is like... the way to ensure it is possible#do i dream of a utopia with UBI/guaranteed arts funding where we didn't have to depend on corporations to make art as investments?#of course i do!#however i don't believe that is likely to come to pass anytime soon....#and like... no i dont think anyone is a Rotten Person to the Core for pirating tv/movies#however. i do firmly believe that paying for art when you are able and when you value it is important.#some people will be like 'boohoo poor companies are mad that i dont pay for their product when i can pirate it for free!!!!'#like yes? it costs a lot of money to make! of course they want a profit#i have issues with the degree to which profits are extracted to the wealthy few in the present day#and i have issues/worries about the fundamental monetization structures of TV especially at the current moment#but i do not have an issue with the basic premise that companies would fund expensive large-scale art (like tv or movies) and expect to mak#a profit from funding such a large project#imo if u truly wanna pretend you're pirating in an anticapitalist way#you'd pirate something then venmo the normal cost to a random employee who worked on the production#lmao#that's still obviously a little flawed but like. u get my point? good. i hope ur having a good day#hypothetical person who reads my rambling tags this deep.#d

What Are the Qualifications for a Data Scientist?
In today's data-driven world, the role of a data scientist has become one of the most coveted career paths. With businesses relying on data for decision-making, understanding customer behavior, and improving products, the demand for skilled professionals who can analyze, interpret, and extract value from data is at an all-time high. If you're wondering what qualifications are needed to become a successful data scientist, how DataCouncil can help you get there, and why a data science course in Pune is a great option, this blog has the answers.
The Key Qualifications for a Data Scientist
To succeed as a data scientist, a mix of technical skills, education, and hands-on experience is essential. Here are the core qualifications required:
1. Educational Background
A strong foundation in mathematics, statistics, or computer science is typically expected. Most data scientists hold at least a bachelor’s degree in one of these fields, with many pursuing higher education such as a master's or a Ph.D. A data science course in Pune with DataCouncil can bridge this gap, offering the academic and practical knowledge required for a strong start in the industry.
2. Proficiency in Programming Languages
Programming is at the heart of data science. You need to be comfortable with languages like Python, R, and SQL, which are widely used for data analysis, machine learning, and database management. A comprehensive data science course in Pune will teach these programming skills from scratch, ensuring you become proficient in coding for data science tasks.
3. Understanding of Machine Learning
Data scientists must have a solid grasp of machine learning techniques and algorithms such as regression, clustering, and decision trees. By enrolling in a DataCouncil course, you'll learn how to implement machine learning models to analyze data and make predictions, an essential qualification for landing a data science job.
4. Data Wrangling Skills
Raw data is often messy and unstructured, and a good data scientist needs to be adept at cleaning and processing data before it can be analyzed. DataCouncil's data science course in Pune includes practical training in tools like Pandas and Numpy for effective data wrangling, helping you develop a strong skill set in this critical area.
5. Statistical Knowledge
Statistical analysis forms the backbone of data science. Knowledge of probability, hypothesis testing, and statistical modeling allows data scientists to draw meaningful insights from data. A structured data science course in Pune offers the theoretical and practical aspects of statistics required to excel.
6. Communication and Data Visualization Skills
Being able to explain your findings in a clear and concise manner is crucial. Data scientists often need to communicate with non-technical stakeholders, making tools like Tableau, Power BI, and Matplotlib essential for creating insightful visualizations. DataCouncil’s data science course in Pune includes modules on data visualization, which can help you present data in a way that’s easy to understand.
7. Domain Knowledge
Apart from technical skills, understanding the industry you work in is a major asset. Whether it’s healthcare, finance, or e-commerce, knowing how data applies within your industry will set you apart from the competition. DataCouncil's data science course in Pune is designed to offer case studies from multiple industries, helping students gain domain-specific insights.

If ur coming at it from an anarchist point of view, shouldn't ppl have the autonomy to choose their political ideology and what they do with their bodies ? I'm asking bc a lot of the anarchists I've met are just as obsessed w controlling ppls behavior as white communists are, and are just as afraid of sex worker liberation and disability justice.
#im a marxist first and foremost and truly believe dialectical materialism is the way the world works#ppl saying theyre communists or anachist doesnt actually tell me anything abt ur values#im in solidarity forever w communist parties in the extracted / oppressed lands and armed resistance against world imperialism#but just assuming people are morally superior or inferior based on anarchism vs communism completely defeats the purpose#of solidarity w indigenous and other oppressed people of the world

there seems to be an unused ration of… water? yes.
martin crimp, cyrano de bergerac / raoul walsh, captain horatio hornblower
#i heard ‘hornblower? he ain’t human’ and blacked out for the rest of the film#watched chh last night bc a) he was inspiration of jim kirk’s character and b) hornblower is played by ethan peck’s grandfather#so a very full circle moment#and. gah this scene this SCENEEEE#the dehumanisation of authority figures the same way jim is constantly being compared to caesar#their struggles never being visible bc they have to be strong for their crew#and thus almost becoming godlike and infallible#HE AINT HUMAN????????????????????#and god don’t even get me started on the cyrano extract#how he saves his water for CHRISTIAN?????? the woman he loves’ husband????? oh im evil#he values christian’s life more than his own bc ROXANE values christian more!!!!!!! AAAAAAAGGHHHHHHHH#and how much HIS men respect and admire him even tho he isn’t a general or anything he’s just an ordinary solider#and how the rest of the men and even cyrano himself almost start to believe he’s untouchable#he takes the flack and he’d go to hell and back and thus he’s lifted into this high position#when in reality it’s like. because he hates himself. and his sword and his words are all he has#and if that kills him then it kills him#and it DOES kill him!!!!!!! he walks out of hospital to confess to roxane and he dies and aaaaggggghhghh#normal normal i’m normal#god why can’t i have normal interests like everybody else#no one else is like ‘omg the parallels between this 1951 film and an adaptation of an 18th century french play’#and how they relate to captain kirk from star trek#what is WRONGGGGGG WITH ME WHAT IS MY PROBLEM#god. anyway#jesus christ jemima. have you ever tried to like things a normal amount#anyway. i’m finished now i think#how tf do i even tag this#cyrano de bergerac#captain horatio hornblower

poking around looking at people's general feelings about the recent trek series and I have to say im pretty deeply irritated by criticism that starts and stops at the idea that stories going further in depth into starfleet as an imperial power and the violence inherent to that are against the spirit of the original. like if you consider the idealism/hope for a better world/realization of a brotherhood of man sort of themes to BE the spirit of it, i would think engaging critically with elements of domination presented by the original is more productive (possibly even more faithful) towards that spirit than just pretending they don't exist
#p#star trek#idk maybe the way they go about it isn't very good! i have not seen them! but taking issue with just making the fleet look bad is a bit much#if YOU take the claims of utopia at face value and don't take issue w them rating cultures on a development scale#and CONSTANTLY using soft force to get people to agree to starfleet extracting natural resources#and interfering with and/or destroying peaceful arrangements bc jim kirk thinks they aren't developing fast enough#then i dont particularly want to hear anything else you have to say tbh
