Hi sweetie. Can you tell us more, like random facts, about Vasi? 🥰
Her height, her favourite place, music, hobbies.... 👉🏻👈🏻
Of course! ☺️☺️
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
* Vasilisa is about 5’5 ft tall!
* I haven’t figured out her weight yet but her body type she has an Average hourglass thick tone. She has hip dips and a small round belly (so think of Nani (Lilo and Stich), American singer Tyla, and Twyla (monster high).
*Has a lot of beauty marks.
* since her race is elf/vampire her nationality is Afro-latina! But to simplify it she’s Afro-Brazilian (like myself 😌)
* She has a nose ring, belly piercing and others.
* She has a small fairy wing in one of the back of her ears.
* Her voice VA is a mix between Spectra vondergeist (Monster High) and Chihiro Fujisaki (Danganronpa)
* She has a kind, understanding, outgoing, shy, quiet personality. She RARELY ever gets mad but when she does.. she can be pretty scary.
* Her best friends are Amber Orlock, Gytha Demona, Nerys Blyssen ( which they are in the working process 😅)
* She occasionally plays the Quest of Yore with Barely and goes on Quests with him. That is of course dressing up as well! 😂
*She sometimes floats like Marceline (adventure, Time) and Spectra (monster high)
* She loves to go on day and night strolls. In the daytime for favorite places are the park, the Manticore! Tavern, and the Labyrinth mall. In the night time she likes to go on her land to look at the stars and of course ride along with Barley 😁.
* She likes poetry, drawing landscapes, spells and mythical creatures, fajitas, and rice pudding.
* Her Dislikes though are dishonest and cruel people, being taken advantage of, being an out cast, bullies, colt Branco (at times), spiders.
* She listens to a lot of variety of music. But her absolute favorites are 2000s rock, rock folklore ( like Barely lmaoo 😭) j-pop and k-pop!
* Her favorite movies are Twilight, all Saw movies, Harry Potter, Let Me In (2010), Kill Bil volume 1 and 2, and the grudge.
* She makes jewelry as a hobby.
* She wears a lot of her mother’s jewelry and clothes to always have her by her side.
* Can speak MANY different languages ( including sign language)
* Wears a bunch of goth clothes ( so like corsets and a bunch of medieval dresses) and other wears!
* She’s a Mage and does a lot of magic such as healing, reading people’s minds, and Telekinesis.
* One of her strengths are Shapeshifting, healing, using any form of magic. But her downsides are that she has to drink and eat more than a normal being can do. She can also get sick easily.
* Whenever she’s available she’ll help Ian with some magic stuff and teach him different spells and potions and honestly how to maintain it better!
* Now since she’s half elf and vampire blood doesn’t have an effect on her only because she took majority of her mother’s side. But every once in awhile she does get the cravings often. So she drinks pigs blood and makes it into boba 🧋 (I’m assuming there’s such thing as pigs in the universe 😭)
*Since she has a lot of her mother’s traits she will have longer ears and eyebrows when she gets older.
* She owns a Phoenix as a pet (I name her Fawkes after professor Dumbledores from Harry Potter 😁😁)
* She Keeps a lot of charms and crystals in her room from Barley
* Loves to cook and bake!
* She reads a spell book that her mother left for her.
* Knows how to figure Skate and do ballet and Plays the violin and the piano (so I guess you can say she was very active)
I think that’s pretty much all of it! I hope you enjoy! ☺️

1.2 The Legend of Baba Yaga by Rochana Patel On the run from the Time Lords and in serious need of help, the Doctor heads for 17th-century Russia in search of the legendary witch of Slavic folklore... Baba Yaga.
But while trying to gain assistance from this powerful entity, the Doctor finds herself embroiled in events from the most famous of Baba Yaga’s tales when she tries to help a beautiful young woman called Vasilisa retrieve a burning ember to save her family from the bitter Russian winter.
What is real? What is fantasy? And will the Doctor be able to tell the difference in time?
1.3 The Dimension of Lost Things by Lisa McMullin Fleeing Cosmo through the Vortex, the TARDIS gets sucked down a temporal plughole, and the Doctor emerges into a weird landscape. Finding other lost souls in the form of mountaineer George Mallory and scavenger Athelia, the Doctor soon stumbles across another, more surprising denizen of this strange dimension - herself!
With Cosmo still in pursuit and memory-stealing winds threatening to wipe her mind for good, the Doctor senses a complex trap in action. But whose trap is it, and how can she possibly escape?

Lays Vasilisa here offering Valentine’s Chocolates
“Are these Valentine’s Day chocolates?” Asagi hadn’t expect such a gift but she decidedly took one piece and ate it. It had such a rich flavor to it and it made her take another one in response.
“Thank you Vasilisa.”

My, the one with so many love names I can’t remember one to call, I can’t feel if it isn’t for you. Love, you and what I feel, is stuck to me. What a fool I was, thinking I was unworthy of love, unworthy of you. Truth is, my endless joy, we don’t deserve each other, but there is no need to it. I don’t need to be worthy of you when you have me by my heart. Us, we lived long, sewn together by fate. I want your ugly, your sadness and your depression. I want your smiles, your laughter and your memories. I am no one, and I am yours. I can never be another’s. I love you more than I can say; I love you, or I love no-one. Deeply in love with you, half human, half daydream, B.H

🌹 for the ros and 🌌 for any character(s) <3
🌹 ROSE - do they like valentines day? have they been confessed to before? have they confessed to anyone before?
Pariah: Doesn't really care for Valentines, per say?? To them it's just another day to mark on the calendar. They used to get cards from people in elementary (as many did) but they never gave any out—and still don't
Vasilisa: Appreciates Valentines, mainly because chocolate goes on sale around this time. She's never been confessed to seriously, but she and Archivist jokingly exchange gifts on the date (mostly to distract him from his misery over the absence of Hierophant)
Op: Loves watching people celebrwte Valentines from afar, but he's never been confessed to himself. He tried to confess once but he got freaked out before he could get through his meticulously scripted speech and ended up staying home the next day to cope. Bless his heart.
DW: Highly indifferent to Valentines day, and doesn't actively seek to celebrate it. He has been confessed to many a times, but he's never confessed to someone himself. At least, not willingly.
Sysba: Profits off of Valentines. They used to partake in the strange celebrations of the past, but now they just host a 'date night' and take all the money they can. They've been confessed to, and they've confessed themself a few times as well.
Suha: Also profits off of Valentines via sales through her business'. She's pretty indifferent about the holiday itself, though. She's been confessed to, and she confessed once, but not since.
🌌 MILKY WAY - what was the inspiration behind your oc? what was the first thing you decided about them?
Ohhh this was hard, actually LMAO. The inspiration behind Castor Cirillo was actually Droessen from the story The Soldier Prince (from the Grishaverse); the first thing I decided was that he'd have no powered abilities. It not only provides a motive for his actions, but it's also nice to write a character besides MC who can't 'be on par' to those around them; it also allows me to demonstrate some of the bias that exist against unpowered individuals.
Rembrandt, who is (unofficially) paired with Castor (oblivious pining my beloved) was based on Dorian Grey; he's a very materialistic and vain man who stresses about how others perceive him and how he's portrayed to the world. Having someone like him, who is like a doll, paired with someone like Castor, who is like a doll maker, allows a very unique relationship that—although it can never be shown in game—is so fascinating to write. I decided Rembrandt's powers (persuasion) first!

I can’t believe this took me a VERY long time to finish this project but here it is!
Even though this took me a long time I had so much fun doing this project! I really like how I did Barelys outfit making it more of a warrior look to it and having some details. I like how I did Ian’s as well making his mage jacket have dragon scales as a way to protect him. Vasilisa’s I’m very proud of since I put in a lot of thought and time into it.
All in all I’m very happy I’m finally done with this project and can now show it!

“ Local village drama queen Doctor, Ilya Devorack, has heard tales of the beautiful apprentice of the court’s magician. Despite Mazelinka and Pasha threatening to confiscate his leeches for pulling such a dangerous stunt warning him against it, Ilya somehow acquired his princely attire and crashes the ball.
He spots the lovely Julianne and with a swift introduction and hand kiss, he whisks her off to the dance floor.”

Guess who was @timmys-and-scribbles secret valentine cupid!
For @thearcanasecretcupid event!
Behold! Russian Fairytale Julianne and Ilya at a winter ball!
I was so excited to get you as a valentine that I squealed with excitement when I found out! I love your art so so so so so so much and Julianne is just the best and I love her as a character and her relationship with Ilya!
Your drawing of Julianne and Ilya in imperial Russian wear was the inspiration! I’m sure Julianne isn’t Russian but I couldn’t resist drawing her and Ilya in pre-imperial royal clothing! Julianne was super fun to draw! I’m used to drawing extreme height differences bc of my own apprentice but I hope her smolness is accurate!
The background is this stage set design by Ivan Bilibin (Иван Билибин) for the opera Sadko (Садко).
The lovely couple’s clothes are based on Ivan Bilibin’s storybook illustrations for ‘Vasilisa The Beautiful’ (василиса прекрасная) and ‘The Tale of Tsar Saltan’ (Сказка о царе Салтане), and the costumes from the Romanov’s 1903 costume ball.
Also, I couldn’t decide what background I liked more so here, both transparent and with color!
I hope you’re having a great day! keep up the great work!

vasilisa mamãe HIJMPSVX
valentine’s day alphabet, starring vasilisa hwang
H   :   HEART.   is your muse quick or slow to give their heart away?
is there such a thing as giving her heart away? being so used to having everything taken from her, day in and day out by every single person who deemed her valuable enough to hold onto her gold, vasilisa learned quickly that a few things could never belong to anyone else but herself. lissa’s heart is her most prized belonging, apart from her talent. holding it out for someone else scared her more than anything ever did before, but she did it nevertheless. like falling off a branch, the russian girl handed it for a person, silver platter and all. it could never belong to anyone else but him.
I    :   I LOVE YOU.   does your muse find ‘i love you’ easy or hard to say?
her “i love yous” always came when needed, but never for free. growing up, vasilisa quickly learned how valuable such words could be, and so she saved them for the right time, the right people. her family is the first extension of her love, “ya tebya lyublyu” being told in between hushed conversations, when the cold became too unbearable. with her and her sisters all huddled up together near the fire, all of them as one, grateful for each other. with her mother and father saving her a second helping of soup instead of having one themselves. nowadays, however, “i love you” comes as easy as breathing, because of its awful need. she gives away her words for benjamin as much as she can, for he is deserving of them. for the fact that “я тебя люблю” means him and him only.
J   :   JEALOUSY.   does your muse get jealous in a relationship?
jealousy is an extention of herself. before benjamin, they were playful, needy pleas, entertainment for the older, greedy man that surrounded her senses. now, it means belonging. benjamin belongs to her; of that she is certain. the mere thought of being taken away from him makes her head spin and her heart hurt, an impossible, agonizing despair. it feels like madness, but madness is the only thing she has ever known. it is only right that he feels as entitled to her as she does to him.
M   :   MOONLIGHT.   what is your muse’s ideal date? where / who with / etc?
vasilisa is not a big fan of dates at all. many of them feel impersonal and stiff, since she’s never been used to meeting up people casually, without something dark lurking behind brushed over simple interests. one of her first ever real dates was with benjamin, at a coffee shop, after he begged for days to no end for a chance to see her alone. it is still the best one she ever had. her ideal date, however, is anything and anywhere involving him. since they’re always together at the penthouse on their weekends, every friday, saturday and sunday feel like the most perfect dates ever.
P   :   PARTNER.   what does your muse look for in a partner? looks / personality?
she would never settle for anyone mediocre, that’s for sure. lissa loves beautiful, talented people like herself, people that have something to offer, stimulating conversations and raw, consuming power. she likes feeling like there could never be anyone for her but that person, and that she is off with the best of the best. those had always been her first, most proper victims. her actual and last ever partner, however, was never something she looked for. he’s just everything she always wanted and never really thought she could have.
S   :   SWEETHEART.   did your muse have a childhood sweetheart?
there were always cute, funny boys that delighted her when her childish innocence still hadn’t been lost, but vasya spent a big portion of her childhood and teenage years enamored with her cousin, ivan. he was dangerous, older and too beautiful for his own good, always gentle and well-mannered to no end. obviously, they could’ve never stayed together, also by the fact that he never showed the slightest hint of desire, but that is probably the reason why vasilisa wanted him so bad. she always loved the things she could never have.
V   :   VALENTINE.   how does your muse feel about valentine’s day?
with benjamin, every day feels like a valentine’s day, so it hasn’t been overall a very important day for both of them. before him, she never gave much thought to it either, since before leaving russia the day meant embarrassing, expensive gifts that made no sense to anyone who resided in her house. too many roses and trinkets left her weirded out, no matter how beautiful they were. her last valentine’s day, however, was fun enough to be remembered forever. never mind that her lingerie collection is now more beautiful and expensive than ever.
X   :   XOXO.   does your muse use / like pet names?
so many of them it makes her sick. vasya loves giving cute, funny pet names to the people she love, since the russian language is filled with the most beautiful ones. all her sisters have theirs, but vasilisa loves taking her time to find her boyfriend the most meaningful and pretty ones. he has so many she’s already lost count of them: my darling love, my beautiful life, my only ever love. zolotse, dorogaya, miloshka. lyubov moy, moy zvyozdochka, mon kor.

* ✰.  𝐕𝐀𝐒𝐈𝐋𝐈𝐒𝐀 𝐄. 𝐑𝐎𝐌𝐀𝐍𝐎𝐕-𝐃𝐑𝐀𝐆𝐎𝐒𝐋𝐀𝐕  –––– an introduction !
There is something moon soaked and dawn flavoured about her. Something kissed by the wild and loved by lightning. She looks like Artemis after a night of storm hunting. She looks like the sun as it rises after kissing the dawn.
+ 𝐖𝐀𝐍𝐓𝐄𝐃 𝐂𝐎𝐍𝐍𝐄𝐂𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍𝐒.
* ✰. Olá, meu nome é VASILISA EKATERINA ROMANOV-DRAGOSLAV e eu tenho DEZESSETE ANOS DE IDADE. Curso o SEXTO ANO e minha casa é a CORVINAL. Minhas matérias opcionais são ESTUDOS ESPECTRAIS E ARITIMANCIA também participo dos clubes de CLUBE DE DUELOS E JORNAL DE HOGWARTS. Faço parte da MONITORIA. Meu status sanguíneo é PURO e eu fico ao lado das TREVAS.
* ✰. 𝐁𝐈𝐎𝐆𝐑𝐀𝐅𝐈𝐀:
* ✰. 𝐂𝐔𝐑𝐈𝐎𝐒𝐈𝐃𝐀𝐃𝐄𝐒:
* ✰. 𝐈𝐍𝐒𝐏𝐎:
Bellatrix Lestrange (Harry Potter); Daenerys Targaryen (Game of Thrones); Camille Preaker (Sharp Objects); Cher Horowitz (Clueless); Cassie Howard (Euphoria).

                                                       PART II
The Crimson City has taken new shape as The Emerald City, and the booze pours like water. Of course, anyone with foresight will know even a Saint Patrick’s Day celebration can’t go untouched by at least one of the families. The drinks have made their rounds, whether that’s lounged at the bar or courtesy of the green and orange clad waiters delivering martinis on a tray. Everyone found their way to their favorite attraction—more like staggered to their favorite attraction—when the heat pooled at their toes, licked its way up their ankles. Before they knew it, their entire bodies were consumed in heat, reddening their cheeks like a sunburn in the middle of Chicago’s burning summer.
It clicked just a little too late that they had been dosed, and the rage set in before common sense. Something erupted in the crowd, volcanic and angry, and the fights broke out like they were on a schedule. It was chaos; chaos that couldn’t be contained by the police guards eyeing the perimeter to prevent an event like last time. Civilians and family members alike, everyone present, began to lose their grip on reality. Attachments were lost in the wildfire of it all, and those who looked like friends morphed into something to be feared.
The O’Shea creation, BUA, and its side effects come from equal parts LSD, methamphetamines, and cocaine, all without the floating euphoria of feeling high. It’s very capable of killing, even in small doses, and even with the likelihood that you’ll survive, the drug leaves its traces on your brain for weeks after ingestion. BUA comes in all forms, and it can be injected, snorted, and smoked, depending on the vehicle of delivery. BUA is incredibly addictive, and it’s hard enough to get a hold of that anyone who ingests the drug will deal with the aftermath of withdrawals.
Your character, for the time being, is under the influence of BUA, meaning they may act out of character and violent toward their surroundings. That includes friends, enemies, and strangers.
Part II will run from March 20th through March 23rd. For this event, we’ll be throwing characters into groups, so they may interact with whoever they’re teamed up with. You can find all of your assigned groups below. If your character is not included, please feel free to reach out to the admins, and we’ll find a place for your muse. Also please note that your character could have been drugged by drinking any drink or eating any food.

My Incomplete Fairy Tale Retellings Recs List
I compiled some of these for a friend who wanted to know, and decided to make a more complete list for posterity. This is by no means either a complete list or even a complete list of all of the fairy tale-based media that I’ve read and enjoyed, just what I could think off off the top of my head and looking through my bookshelves/Kindle shelves/Amazon lists.
Novels:
Ella Enchanted and its companion novel Fairest, Gail Carson Levine (Cinderella and Snow White, respectively)
The Two Princesses of Bamarre, Gail Carson Levine (original story, but fairy-tale inspired)
tbh, practically anything Levine’s ever written treads into fairy tale territory; I also highly recommend Ever and the Fairy Dust trilogy
Just Ella, Margaret Peterson Haddix (Cinderella)
Ash, Malinda Lo (Cinderella)
East/North Child, Edith Pattou (East of the Sun and West of the Moon)
Sun and Moon, Ice and Snow, Jessica Day George (East of the Sun and West of the Moon)
Ice, Sarah Beth Dunst (East of the Sun and West of the Moon)
The Lunar Chronicles, Marissa Meyer (Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Rapunzel, and Snow White)
Spindle’s End, Robin McKinley (Sleeping Beauty)
Robin McKinley literally made a name for herself writing fairy tale retellings (tbh she's probably the most famous writer of fairy tale-based stories for adults). Pick up any random book by her, and there’s about an 80/20 chance it’s a fairy tale retelling. I especially recommend The Hero and the Crown, Beauty (Beauty and the Beast), and Deerskin (Donkeyskin/Catskin)
Book of a Thousand Days, Shannon Hale (Maid Maleen)
The Books of Bayern, starting with The Goose Girl, by Shannon Hale (The Goose Girl)
Howl’s Moving Castle trilogy, Diana Wynne Jones (an original story, but with obvious use of fairy tale tropes, conventions, and language)
Fire and Hemlock, Diana Wynne Jones (Tam Lin)
Tithe, Holly Black (Tam Lin)
Where the Mountain Meets the Moon and When the Sea Turned to Silver, Grace Lin (based on Chinese mythology and folklore)
The Bear and the Nightingale, Katherine Arden (Vasilisa the Beautiful)
The Girls at the Kingfisher Club, Genevieve Valentine (The Twelve Dancing Princesses)
The Orphan’s Tales: In the Night Garden and The Orphan’s Tales: In the Cities of Coin and Spice, Catherynne M. Valente (of ‘The Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairyland’ fame)
Deathless, Catherynne Valente (The Death of Koschei the Deathless)
Ophelia and the Marvelous Boy, Karen Foxlee (The Snow Queen)
Firebird, Mercedes Lackey (The Golden Bird/The Firebird)
The Black Swan, Mercedes Lackey (Swan Lake)
Mercedes Lackey is another author who tends to end up writing fairy tales even when she’s not writing fairy tales
Uprooted, Naomi Novik (an original book, but very obviously rooted in Eastern European/Russian fairy tales)
Daughter of the Forest, Juliet Marillier (The Six Swans/The Wild Swans)
Tiger Lily, Jodi Lynn Anderson (Peter Pan)
Peter and the Starcatchers series, Dave Perry and Ridley Peterson (Peter Pan)
The Mists of Avalon, Marion Zimmer Bradley (ok so technically this one’s not based on a fairy tale as it’s Arthurian legend from the point of view of the women involved, specifically Guinevere and Morgan/Morgana, but it’s so good I couldn’t bear to leave it off the list)
Short Story Anthologies (retellings and original tales included):
The Bloody Chamber and Other Stories, Angela Carter (I recommend the 75th Anniversary Edition)
My Mother She Killed Me, My Father He Ate Me, Kate Bernheimer
features retellings such as Michael Cunningham’s “The Wild Swans”, Neil Gaiman’s “Orange”, John Updike’s “Bluebeard in Ireland”, and Karen Joy Fowler’s “Halfway People”
Kissing the Witch: Old Tales in New Skins, by Emma Donoghue
The Victorian Fairy Tale Book, Michael Patrick Hearn
The Complete Fairy Tales of George MacDonald
The Oxford Book of Modern Fairy Tales, edited by Alison Lurie
includes Nathaniel’s Hawthorne’s “Feathertop”, George MacDonald’s “The Light Princess”, Oscar Wilde’s “The Selfish Giant”, Robert Louis Stevenson’s “The Song of the Morrow”, Kenneth Grahame’s “The Reluctant Dragon”, H.G. Well’s “The Magic Shop”, Angela Carter’s “The Courtship of Mr. Lyon”, and Jane Yolen’s “The River Maid”
I cannot impress on everyone how amazing this anthology is. If you only get one book on this list, this would be a good one to get
The Starlit Wood, edited by Dominik Parisien
includes Garth Nix’s “Penny for a Match, Sister?” (The Little Match Girl), Marjorie Liu’s “The Briar and the Rose” (Sleeping Beauty), and Naomi Novik’s “Spinning Silver” (Rumplestiltskin)
Through the Woods, Emily Carroll (graphic novel collection)
Silver Birch, Blood Moon, edited by Ellen Datlow and Terri Windling
actually, all of Ellen Datlow’s retelling anthology series is really great: Snow White, Blood Red; Black Heart, Ivory Bones; Black Thorn, White Rose; Ruby Slippers, Golden Tears; and Black Swan, White Raven are the others
together, the anthology series features authors as diverse and wide-ranging as Neil Gaiman, Robin McKinley, Angela Carter, Tanith Lee, Joyce Carol Oates, Patricia C. Wrede, Jane Yolen, Nancy Kress, Melanie Tem, Roger Zelazny, Gene Wolfe, Susana Clarke, Nalo Hopkinson, Tim Wynne-Jones, and Anne Bishop
Bone Swans: Stories, C.S.E. Cooney
Fairy Tales in Popular Culture, Martin Hallett
includes Neil Gaiman’s “Snow, Glass, Apples” (featuring Vampire!Snow White) and Robin McKinley’s “The Princess and the Frog”
Red as Blood, or Tales from the Sisters Grimmer, Tanith Lee
Don’t Bet on the Prince: Contemporary Feminist Fairy Tales in North America and England, edited by Jack Zipes
Illustrated Tales/Comics/Webcomics:
Fables, Bill Willingham (aka, what Once Upon a Time should have been...yeah I'm not bitter at all)
The Sleeper and the Spindle, Neil Gaiman and Chris Riddell
Sandman Saga, Neil Gaiman
The Books of Magic, Neil Gaiman
Monstress, Marjorie Liu
Cinder and Ashe, Gerry Conway and Jose Luis Garcia-Lopez
The Legend of Bold Riley, Leia Weathington
Namesake, an absolutely fantastic webcomic based on a variety of fairy tales and fairy tale fantasy series (most notably the Wizard of Oz and Alice in Wonderland)
Valor Anthology (a comic-based anthology of fairy-tale retellings; LBGT+ friendly)
Instructions, written by Neil Gaiman and illustrated by Charles Vess
Also, a special shout-out to P.J. Lynch's illustrated version of ‘East of the Sun and West of the Moon’, and really all of the fairy tales books that Lynch illustrates. They're beautiful.
Anthologies of Actual Tales:
The Classic Fairy Tales (Norton Anthologies)
The Great Fairy Tale Tradition: From Straparola to the Brothers Grimm (Norton Critical Editions)
The Complete Grimm’s Fairy Tales, illustrated by Josef Scharl (Pantheon Fairy Tale Library)
The entire Pantheon Fairy Tale Library (Norweigan Folktales, Russian Folktales, Chinese Fairy Tales and Fantasies, Japanese Tales, Latin American Folktales, and African Folktales, among several others)
The Original Folk and Fairy Tales of the Brothers Grimm: The Complete First Edition, translated by Jack Zipes Fairy Tales from the Brothers Grimm, by Phillip Pullman
The Complete Fairy Tales of Hans Christian Andersen (Literary Classics Collection)
Hans Christian Andersen’s Classic Fairy Tales Omnibus (Barnes and Noble Edition)
I’m going to be honest; complete HCA anthologies are hard as hell to find (unlike the Brothers Grimm) and my copy isn’t in print anymore, so I don’t know if the previous two suggestions are actually “complete” or not. Of the various collections I found, I’d go with either of the two I just mentioned or the ‘Annotated Hans Christian Andersen’ book, mentioned below
Andrew Lang’s Colored Fairy Books (excepting the Blue Fairy Book, which is a collection of popular fairy tales, each book contains tales loosely grouped by geographic location); probably one of the most well-known and comprehensive collections of fairy tales
Fearless Girls, Wise Women & Beloved Sisters: Heroines in Folktales from Around the World, Kathleen Ragan
I'm a big fan of the various "Annotated" Fairy Tale collections, like the Annotated Brothers Grimm, Annotated Classic Fairy Tales, and Annotated Hans Christen Andersen, though I don't always agree with the editorializing. It's a whole series.
On that note, look for book collections put together and/or edited by Maria Tatar and Jack Zipes. They're the two most prominent fairy tale scholars at the moment and basically have an unofficial duopoly on the fairy tale academic criticism market.
There are a ton more, but this is a good solid starting list. Go forth and enjoy fairy tales!
