Mr. Rowswell: ... could the same minister please share with us when we should expect to see both of these projects completed?
Mr. Dreeshen: Well, Mr. Speaker, engineering for highway 883 and highway 41 will start this year, and construction will begin next year. The 55 kilometres of repaving between highway 41 and highway 17 are currently out for tender. We’ll see steamrollers out this summer.
But, Mr. Speaker, do you know what else is getting steamrolled this summer? The Alberta NDP by Nenshi and his Liberals. It just goes to show that the NDP-Liberal alliance is alive and well, not just in Ottawa but here in Alberta. They’re propping up Trudeau and the Liberals in Ottawa. It’s something where we are going to do everything that we can to stand up for Albertans every day in this province.

The Rundle Peaks and Sanson Peak (Banff National Park)
flickr
The Rundle Peaks and Sanson Peak (Banff National Park) by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: A roadside pulloff with the famous view of Vermilion Lakes and Mount Rundle. Another location that I never tire of seeing any chance I have to visit Banff National Park! Here I focused with a more wider angle view, capturing not just the nearby waters of Vermilion Lakes and mountains peaks, but also including more of the blue skies with those big white puffy clouds above.

8/30/23 Home last night after 3 day, 2100 mile drive home. 700/800/600 mile days. No fire smoke like last year.
Haley and Sarah Mack stayed with us a bit. Cozy, cozy. Tight cabin for 2 but works for 4 if needed. Fun on the water. Party at Stephanie’s on 2 md island. Great group of interesting women, locals and summer folks. Off to the mill for corn meal pancake mix.
Ashinabee/Chippewa/Ojibway museum at Fort Bois. New and interesting culture to explore. Rich artistic culture. A people trying to restore their language. I am trying to learn the birch bark baskets. Wild rise harvesters.

Mt Rundle Sunrise
flickr
Mt Rundle Sunrise by `*⊹ ᑭɧყƖƖıʂ •٭ Via Flickr: This mountain is probably by far the most photographed inside Banff National Park and as you can see it's for a good reason! Being up here for almost a week, I can tell you that it definitely takes quite some hard work and lots of luck to get good photos. We mostly have sunny days, the type with not a single cloud in the sky. There's always some wind, too, making it near impossible to see any reflection in the lakes. That very morning (our 4th inside the park), I was rewarded for the first time with the right amount of clouds, color intensity, and near windlessness. It was so cold (~32F), though, but I was well prepared with a merino wool hat plus my down jacket's hood, 4 layers on top and 2 layers on bottom. However, there's no way to cover my fingers and at times I just couldn't feel them. There was no one around besides me in that section of Vermilion Lake that morning, but further down the road there were quite a few photogs clicking away. One was there throughout the night taking timelapse photos; another one (my new friend) was there until 2am to capture the Milky Way and returned before 5am. My new friend is a gifted and hardworking photog, his dedication is most admirable! (He's not on Flickr but on 1x.com.) It took me over half an hour to shake off the chills in my bones afterward, but looking at the images I captured, I found my "pain (cold) and suffering (lack of sleep)" so worth it. So far we only explored the southern section of Banff National Park. The more we go north, the less cell reception we will get. Currently we are back in Calgary to restock our food suppl. it's a beautiful city 80 miles east of Banff. I'm sorry I can't get to view your photos these days, may you continue to be blessed with good health and company! Thank you for your visit, my dear Flickr friends!

Mr. Rowswell: ... could the same minister please walk this Chamber through the process and typical timelines as well as the steps involved in these major highway projects, from planning, engineering, to construction?
Mr. Dreeshen: Design, planning, and engineering all need to happen before we publicly tender projects and allocate construction dollars, but we are committed to repair over 64,000 lane kilometres here in the province.
But do you know, Mr. Speaker, what’s beyond repair? The rift that will happen when Nenshi and his Liberals take over the Alberta NDP. He’s been out selling memberships for weeks while the NDP have been in here, stuck in this Chamber, not being able to go out and sell their memberships. But the rift that will happen between the Liberals and the NDP is going to be quite something to watch this summer.

Daisies with a Mountain Backdrop (Banff National Park)
flickr
Daisies with a Mountain Backdrop (Banff National Park) by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: For this image, I decided to get down low and look across this patch of daisies. My goal was to have the focus on a portion of the daisies but also include Sulphur Mountain off in the distance. Anyone looking at the image would drawn to the daisies but might also catch a little bit of the mountains as a backdrop blur.
