Did You Know? The History of the Middle Finger...
Well, now...,.. here's something I never knew before, and now that I know it, I feel compelled to share with my intelligent friends in the hopes that they too, will feel blessed in having gained more knowledge. History is way more fun when you know more fun facts about it, don’t you agree?
Before the Battle of Agincourt in 1415, the French, anticipating victory over the English, proposed to cut off the middle finger of all captured English soldiers. Without the middle finger it would be impossible to draw the renowned English longbow and therefore they would be incapable of fighting in the future. This famous English longbow was made of the native English Yew tree, and the act of drawing the longbow was known as 'plucking the yew' (or 'pluck yew'), Much to the bewilderment of the French, the English won a major upset and began mocking the French by waving their middle fingers at the defeated French, saying, See, we can still pluck yew!
Over the decades Americans have since changed up the words , the 'pluck yew' is now "f**K you" and the words often used in conjunction with the one-finger-salute! It is also because of the pheasant feathers on the arrows used with the longbow that the symbolic gesture is known as 'giving the bird.' And yew thought yew knew every plucking thing.

Verne Troyer's Sad Story: The Mortal End of "Mini-Me"
Even among Little People actors, Verne Troyer (1969-1918) ranked as extraordinary. Standing 2′ 8″ (two and 2/3 feet) he made actors like Billy Barty or Michael Dunn seem unremarkable. He also was born with a condition that made him hairless. Further, he was born on a farm and raised Amish during his young years, although later his parents got working class jobs outside that culture. Troyer’s…

“Er hat manchmal zuviel Phantasie!” nörgelt der Tobi bei “The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus” über Terry Gilliam (erfreut sich aber an Andrew Garfield), und tatsächlich ist es ganz besonders überbordend gilliamesk geraten. Aber schön, und überhaupt: nur wenn jemand phantastische Geschichten erzählt, existiert die Welt weiter.

The Love Guru (2008)
In today's review, I find that guidance in hockey and love can be beneficial. As I attempt a #positive review of the 2008 comedy, The Love Guru #MikeMyers #JessicaAlba #JustinTimberlake #RomanyMalco #MeaganGood #VerneTroyer #OmidDjalili #BenKingsley
When you’re on top, the only way is down. This sobering cliché is evident depending on where you look. What was once the talk of the town is now yesterday’s news, one day the best-seeded team are suffering an interminable losing streak. In 2008, following on the success, Myers tried to impart his wisdom, in a new character, known as The Love Guru. The Canadian past-time of hockey is the central…

The project we were shooting was for the magazine’s Holiday issue so predictably the art directors wanted to explore photographing them as Santa and his Elf.  In this town virtually any costume imaginable is available at one of the studio wardrobe departments but it was obvious that these outfits wound need to be custom-made, a task that the magazine delegated to me.  I immediately made the executive decision to make the Santa suit for Verne and designate Shaq as the Elf.  I felt this was not just more visually interesting but perhaps less offensive to little people who were regularly cast as sprites, elves and mythological characters.  This decision delighted Shaq and Verne but seemed to infuriate the art director that had flown out from New York for the shoot.  After the shoot she insisted on keeping the wardrobe and told me upon her return to NYC that she had “burned the outfits so that no one else would have them”.  Needless to say there was an “interesting energy” on the set that day.

Sundae the dog, one of my all time favorite characters since I was a kid. This is the original prop/costume worn by Verne Troyer in The Wacky Adventures of Ronald McDonald. He's missing his original animatronic head and tail, but I have a test head from the original molds that was used for paint and fur application tests (the arrows are the direction the fur should be glued). I also have a vest and plastic mask Verne wore inside of the suit and foam casts of Verne's arms and legs.
Someday I hope to restore him or have him restored. The test head will be preserved as it is, but I want to 3D scan or mold it to have another (finished) head made with animatronic movements like the original. I'd also like to 3D scan his foam latex body that's underneath his fur so I can rework the scan into a support structure for the inside of him. Right now he has a PVC frame inside of him that I built and he's stuffed with foam.

Watched some Amish Hauntings. Very entertaining because a) it’s all horseshit b) half of the “Amish” people they interview commit to the accent and dress and the other half are visibly wearing makeup and have no appreciable PA accent
