i'm like a staunch defender of video games as a form of art and a valid way of experiencing beauty that's 100% on par with stuff like traveling or museum exhibitions like i will die on the hill that visiting a carefully crafted virtual world and living a story within it is a valuable way to learn and grow much like books and movies are and it's tough to get this message through to people whose idea of games is "that fortnite thing my kid keeps spending too much money and time on" or "the arcade games from my childhood where the only goal was a high score" or "gardenscapes innit"
and also because i do enjoy "hoohoo i push the button the guy he jump i get 15 000 points i'm winnar" games as well

i want to have a bunch more links on the black beam on the right but i have no idea how ill deal with the featured block. i also want to showcase more image-related stuff at the bottom (namely my website skins for now) but i also dk how. and i feel like the update box would benefit from being half its current height to allow other things to have that space. a lot of things. i reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeally dont want to change the index design too much to accomodate all this though
it does look a lot more vibrant rn at least. trying to spice it up with extra decorations and animations teehee

there is truly no more timeless way of losing your mind/countless hours on this site than a blog theme code issue that refuses to be solved 😭

looking through the syllabi for the semester and in a term where I'm taking 3 challenging stem courses the scariest of them is the .25 credit ballroom dance class

Dear people who use þ in the English language:
Please stop. Seriously. Stop it. It physically hurts my brain to look at, it’s ugly looking, and it just makes everything unpronounceable and 80% more difficult to read every time I see it even though I know what it stands for.
Not all of us have brains that are wired to handle this pretentious bullshit. Stop putting the very slightly greater ease of some hypothetical people from the very distant and unlikely future where this catches on and becomes the standard for all people enough that anyone knows what the fuck to do with this dumbass shit over the very real and tangible neurodivergent people around you RIGHT now whose brains may not be wired to handle this shit and who now struggle to read and comprehend any sentence you write for like five minutes each time.
It is reaching a point where I am very close to instantly blocking anyone on sight who uses this shit just for the sake of not making my brain explode every time someone thinks they’re cute enough to try to use it.
I get that some of you apparently have reading comprehension on easy mode all the time, and good for you, but please, for fuck’s sake, remember that not everybody’s like you and this isn’t some cute little fun, “quirky” thing that hurts nobody. Some people have enough occasional struggles with reading shit to begin with, without you throwing an additional unnecessary spanner in the works.
#linklethehistorian#my thoughts#thoughts#non fandom#nonfandom#You can’t just revive something that stopped being used in this language way back in the 14th fucking century and which looks NOTHING#like the modern equivalent and expect people’s brains to just “adjust” to your pretentious dumbassery#knowing what something technically means and actually being able to stop your brain from revolting against you and#not treat every sentence like cryptic runes that need to be translated for the rest of time are two very different things#for some people “understanding what it means” is not the same as being able to comprehend it#if you MUST replace “th” with something please invent something NEW like PEOPLE HAVE ALWAYS DONE AS LANGUAGES EVOLVE that resembles#“Th” enough visually that nobody who currently exists struggles with their brain comprehending the word#Correct me if I’m wrong here but it’s not even like replacing “th” is going to solve all the complications of the English language#that everyone struggles with when learning it and there are in fact so many worse and more confusing aspects of it out there that would#still be an issue#I’m all for making the language easier to handle if reasonably possible but this is just not the way#All it does is make even the people who know and speak English well now ALSO struggle with English#Creating a new problem in order to solve a previous one is net 0 gain#Not to mention also fucks over anyone who uses screen readers

Toddler - Pattern Matching
This student is very focused on the task at hand! Pattern matching activities contribute to cognitive development, enhancing problem-solving skills as students identify and match shapes. This process fosters logical thinking, helping them understand cause and effect and make connections between different concepts. Additionally, repeated pattern matching improves memory retention, as children recall shapes and their corresponding positions. Focusing on accurately matching shapes also sharpens their attention to detail. Moreover, understanding how shapes fit together and occupy space aids in developing spatial reasoning skills, which are foundational for later mathematical learning. Who knew such a seemingly simple activity provided so many benefits?

finally watching ahsoka and nothing about it is unforgivably bad or anything, it's just a constant barrage of mildly annoying decisions that could be entirely fixed with a few tweaks

here's your fucking feedback @staff
list of problems the removal of icons causes:
i cant see my friends
ruins the sense of community
can't tell at a glance who's online right now and what they're interested in
literally cannot tell without scrolling back up who put a post on my dash if it has a single addition attached to it. or like. 2 paragraphs in the op.
i cant click my own icon at the top of the dash to quickly view my own blog
can't tell who someone used to be if they change their username
squashes the margins between the menu and posts, making the whole dash feel more cramped
ruins the quick visual cue of how long each post is and where it ends when you're trying to scroll past ones youve seen before
people put a lot of creativity and individuality into icons, and now i never see them
makes people who primarily reblog instead of make their own posts all but completely disappear
list of problems solved by removing icons:
?????
who the fuck was asking for this
ive never in my life seen a website or app that has profile pics forcibly HIDE them, so i guess you did it you made the dash unique again in the worst way
here's some more feedback: maybe when you run an a/b test you should, idk, actually have a feedback form people can fill out about it somewhere
