yes the witcher games are fun enough ig, and the worldbuilding seems pretty solid for a fantasy world imo, but fuck... i finished watching one of the w2 paths and if you take a couple of steps back so that “noble and kind Geralt” doesn’t obscure 80% of your field of view, it’s as racist, misogynistic and homophobic (this one rarely as there were like 1.5 non-cishet characters from what i’ve seen - but very effectively) as its peers. pretty disappointing

When we survey audiences, 84% of sales people are still in Era 1 sales, they are still pushing, pitching, assuming the sale… and it doesn't matter the industry.
When we survey audiences we find that 15% are still in Era #2 way of selling.
When we survey audiences, only 1% are in Era #3,  the Dialogue category.  Just 1% are using sales techniques that work with human behavior.  The most persuasive way.
So here is the challenge with that, if you are still selling using Era 1 or Era 2 techniques, that work against against human behavior, that trigger sales resistance but today's information aged buyers are in Era 3, today's consumer is over in Era 3, do you now see the friction of you not being able to sell as much as you want to…and as easy as you want too?
You might have been taught to use techniques from 20, 30, 40 plus yrs ago but the consumer has completely changed even in the last 5-10 yrs.
Step out of your comfort zone and learn the most persuasive way to sell so you can make more money than where you are at right now.
Now luckily for you this can all be fixed.

He came up with some of these what are now called “Neuro Emotional Persuasion Questions” and his sales doubled, almost overnight.  
But I still didn't know all the right questions to ask and when and how to ask them.  I didn't have a structure.  
I was still winging it but I knew I was still losing sales that I should be making.
Through trial and error I created a  book of phrases and questions that skyrocketed my sales career but more importantly the salespeople I trained.
16:40 Jeremy had to make a decision, and he decided he was going to have to master this process himself. Following are his results:
Through trial and error he created a “Black book of NEPQ questions”.  
Certain words would trigger sales resistance. 
Results: When he started using this in the company he sold for, the first year they went from $6 million in revenue to the next year making $63 million in revenue.  The next year they made over $173 million in revenue.  
Do you see what having the right sales skills can do for you and your company?
So check this out if you look at this Trial and Error Chart you'll see that from 2000-2001 that year Jeremy made $155K.  
By 2004, his sales and income doubled that year and he hit $327K plus.
He continued refining his skills, developing these questions, and by 2006, he made over $785k that year in straight commissions.  Yes that’s $785k in straight commission, in just 1 year at his job.
Then by 2008, his persuasion abilities took a Quantum leap and he made over $1.3 million at his sales job.  During the recession, when sales peoples’ incomes dropped like hotcakes at IHOP, Jeremy’s kept going up.
And he kept learning and through trial and error by 2012, his income went to $2.4 million that year in his sales career.
His results were so great that there was an organization out there that ranks salespeople by earnings and that year he was ranked #45 top salesperson in the world out of over 100 million salespeople by the direct selling association.
That was the same guy who was from Arkansas; the guy who could barely pay his rent for his wife and family only a few years back.
Do you see how the right sales skills can bless you and your family’s lives? 
Now some people might say well Jeremy made multiple 7 figures a year in his industry but that's not possible in my industry.

Old school selling techniques don’t work anymore because they work against human behavior instead of with human behavior.
He went on to average more than $2 million dollars a year in commissions after hitting rock bottom, because he learned some simple skills that anyone can learn. Selling became easy and very profitable.
According to behavioral science, we are least persuasive when we tell people things.
7:37 Jeremy details 3 forms of communication or the 3 eras of selling and I'd suggest you write these down because once you understand the differences in persuasion and where you are at now in your sales ability, compared to where you could be, it will be life-changing for you.
Boiler Room Selling – Wolf of Wall Street, manipulate them, push them, posture them, assume the sale.
Consultative selling  – asking logical based questions to find their needs
Dialogue – NEPQ  –  asking Neuro Emotional Persuasion Questions. We are the most persuasive when we allow others to persuade themselves
11:10 The most effective and persuasive way to sell. You have to learn specific skilled questions, and when and how to ask them in a step by step system or structure that will get your prospects to sell themselves rather than you trying to do it.
When we survey audiences, 84% of sales people are still in Era 1 sales, they are still pushing, pitching, assuming the sale… and it doesn't matter the industry.
When we survey audiences we find that 15% are still in Era #2 way of selling.
When we survey audiences, only 1% are in Era #3,  the Dialogue category.  Just 1% are using sales techniques that work with human behavior.  The most persuasive way.
So here is the challenge with that, if you are still selling using Era 1 or Era 2 techniques, that work against against human behavior, that trigger sales resistance but today's information aged buyers are in Era 3, today's consumer is over in Era 3, do you now see the friction of you not being able to sell as much as you want to…and as easy as you want too?
You might have been taught to use techniques from 20, 30, 40 plus yrs ago but the consumer has completely changed even in the last 5-10 yrs.
Step out of your comfort zone and learn the most persuasive way to sell so you can make more money than where you are at right now.
Now luckily for you this can all be fixed.  
14:57 How Jeremy’s sales more than doubled almost overnight and how yours can too.
He came up with some of these what are now called “Neuro Emotional Persuasion Questions” and his sales doubled, almost overnight.  
But I still didn't know all the right questions to ask and when and how to ask them.  I didn't have a structure.  
I was still winging it but I knew I was still losing sales that I should be making.
Through trial and error I created a  book of phrases and questions that skyrocketed my sales career but more importantly the salespeople I trained.
16:40 Jeremy had to make a decision, and he decided he was going to have to master this process himself. Following are his results:
Through trial and error he created a “Black book of NEPQ questions”.  
Certain words would trigger sales resistance. 
Results: When he started using this in the company he sold for, the first year they went from $6 million in revenue to the next year making $63 million in revenue.  The next year they made over $173 million in revenue.  
Do you see what having the right sales skills can do for you and your company?
So check this out if you look at this Trial and Error Chart you'll see that from 2000-2001 that year Jeremy made $155K.  
By 2004, his sales and income doubled that year and he hit $327K plus.
He continued refining his skills, developing these questions, and by 2006, he made over $785k that year in straight commissions.  Yes that’s $785k in straight commission, in just 1 year at his job.
Then by 2008, his persuasion abilities took a Quantum leap and he made over $1.3 million at his sales job.  During the recession, when sales peoples’ incomes dropped like hotcakes at IHOP, Jeremy’s kept going up.
And he kept learning and through trial and error by 2012, his income went to $2.4 million that year in his sales career.
His results were so great that there was an organization out there that ranks salespeople by earnings and that year he was ranked #45 top salesperson in the world out of over 100 million salespeople by the direct selling association.
That was the same guy who was from Arkansas; the guy who could barely pay his rent for his wife and family only a few years back.
Do you see how the right sales skills can bless you and your family’s lives? 
Now some people might say well Jeremy made multiple 7 figures a year in his industry but that's not possible in my industry.
Did you know Jeremy made multiple 7 figures in 3 separate industries?
So really what that means for you, is you can do the same thing.  You can go from whatever income you are now as a salesperson and learn the right skills to become a top 1% salesperson in your industry.

This week we looked at semiology and how data for semiotic analysis can be gathered using web scraping tools.
Reading
Semiology 
Chandler begins to explain semiology by showing what a broad sweep it takes in its study - it could include linguistics, art, film, written language, even music.
My favourite definition was Barthes’, who declared that 'semiology aims to take in any system of signs, whatever their substance and limits; images, gestures, musical sounds, objects, and the complex associations of all of these, which form the content of ritual, convention or public entertainment: these constitute, if not languages, at least systems of signification' (Barthes 1967, 9). I think of semiology as the process by which we understand what we see, and it’s interesting to think of how that extends beyond sight.
Chandler defined some other terms that crop up in analysis, I liked the definition of a ‘text’, as recorded in some way so it is physically independent of the sender or receiver. A text is something we can engage in, detached from its creator. However, it’s interesting to think of ‘dynamic’ texts - for example, I analysed an app interface last semester. The app was developed as a dynamic interface which is personalised by the user - it was impossible for my experience of it to be detached from me as the ‘receiver’.
Chandler talked about how a medium becomes transparent the more it is used by people, so we write instinctively on a computer because it has become the natural way to record things. However, media is a subject which decisively interrupts our ‘unthinking’ ways of communication. I am really interested in how using different messaging applications (e.g. Whatsapp vs. Messenger) changes the way people communicate. This research question would involve some semiotic analysis of interface design, and inextricably the message content and patterns of communication.
Using social semiotic analysis: beyond the self(ie)
Zhao, S. and Zappavigna, M. (2018) ‘Beyond the self: Intersubjectivity and the social semiotic interpretation of the selfie’, New Media & Society, 20(5), pp. 1735–1754.
This paper sets out to "problematise some fundamental assumptions of the selfie" (1748).  I like the idea of a "micro-autobiography of the present moment" (Schesler, 2014) (1739). Selfies convey the 'hereness' of that person in that moment in that place. It's not just "look at this place" or "look at me" it's look at me, here in this place in this moment. The selfie is diary-esque in its logging. With snapchat it’s not even about recording or remembering, it's about capturing the fleeting moment only to be shared briefly. 
It’s interesting to think about selfies in relation to the way women are seen or how they see themselves.  In traditional photography there is the viewer, the subject and the photographer, in a selfie, photographer and subject are one  (1741). As women grow up with an understanding that they are the ‘object’ (Berger), does the selfie subject-ify them? Is the selfie a way of reclaiming the dynamic of observed vs. observer? (1740) The selfie may tell others to look at us, but we are the artist. While we may be criticised for our vanity, we put the mirror in our own hand (ref. to Berger).
I disagreed with some of the arguments being made in this paper. The writers argue that a selfie is about showing one’s perspective, more than oneself. I think this may be true for some kinds of selfies, but as someone who has (a) taken a fair few selfies and (b) spent some time on instagram. I would argue that selfies can be about situating oneself in a situation, but seem a compromised way of showing one's perspective. Surely a thoughtfully taken photo of what you are seeing or experiencing is a better reflection of your perspective? Surely taking a picture of yourself, if that shows your perspective, suggests your focus is self-orientated, inward looking rather than outward looking? I think a photo taken by a person, says “look at what I’m seeing”, whereas a selfie says “look at me”.
Project
The accessible icon project: design activism
The project was started by Sara Hendren and Brian Glenney in Boston. Sara ran a blog called "Abler" where she wrote about "about prosthetics in the ordinary sense, but also about assistive technologies in the far less ordinary sense: low tech tools, hybrid technologies, art works, and more" (source: ablersite.org). 
This project, which was originally a street art project, recognises that design influences the way we see people, and semiotics have an impact on our judgements about the world. So many of the signs (understood in the general sense, like toilet signs) we see on a daily basis are abstract or iconic symbols which we have learned to associate a meaning to, to the point where we are not conscious of the signification process. A 99% Invisible podcast episode ‘Icons for Access’ looks at this project. The podcast is about the designed world, and this specific episode explores the value of internationally recognised icons, an implicit consideration of the importance of semiotics in communication.
This project reminds me that I feel embarrassed and sad about the way us able-bodied people are willing to ‘other’ people with disabilities. Even the improved symbol draws upon a stereotype of what a person with a disability looks like. How can invisible disabilities be respresented? What compromises are we making when we choose icons to represent abstract ideas? I believe inclusive icon design is important, especially where a person is supposed to select an icon and say “yes, this is me” or walk through a door which tells them “this is where you belong. See Clue’s take on inclusive icon design.
Design activism is designed to challenge ways of thinking, and interrogate exisiting and accepted design principles. This project is activism because it speaks to a wider issue of ableism in society. The purpose of the (original) icon is to provide access to people who are disabled, allowing them to navigate public spaces designed for able-bodied people.

to view the data I had to be on the page where I found it I chose a site where every image had it's own page, I couldn't figure out how to group them so I had to scrape individually chose to scrape a smaller sample to make this do-able some of the data I scraped didn't feel super useful, and the data I actually wanted (the images) I had to manually scrape. at my level of understanding, the scraper didn't feel very useful. it was cool to see the website dissected, almost in parts instead of as a functioning whole
Analysis: the name of the comic is not designed to introduce it or 'anchor' it (Barthes), it functions as a placeholder, taking words from the relay text so the image has a name. The name does not allude to the story in the comic at all.

Feeling the beauty of sth is a subjective experience. “Taste is residue of beauty.”This sentence is wonderful.
“But anything’s reputation of being beautiful is guaranteed to recommend itself to some as a theory.”I agree, and I disagree with”beauty is real”.Nowadays, aesthetics has extended its diversity. Beauty is one kind of aesthetics. At this point, “beauty” has been redefined. 
It’s true, exposed to modern technology, beauty can be sth invisible, it can be a way of narrative, one kind of typesetting, some kinds of interactions, sounds, tastes of food, smells and so on. I believe the developing arts are binding together with beauty. Beauty is one of the production of arts.
Think about myself, I seem to go through aesthetic fatigue all the time? 
But as an artist, I don’t bother too much because pursuing beauty occupies very small percentage of the factor that I would consider it in in my art, unless it’s vitally meaningful to the theme I’m working on.

What strikes the eye without reference? This is a question that needs to be well thought out.
“The beautiful is that which apart from concepts is represented as the object of universal satisfaction.”A strong sentence, can’t agree with more.
“Elegy for the Spanish Republic” spreads sadness, and gives a kind of meaning to the loss. So, art is a great way to give meaning to sth you can’t do anything about or sublimate the thing.
About Salgado’s photographs - “But have we a right to show suffering of that order in beautiful ways?” I believe we have. The people suffered/are suffering must had a reason.It’s insignificant about the consequence of “They are suffering.” The reason can be crucial. It may bring audience’s mind to the bright/dark sight of human nature, or some unknown background. Using beautiful ways is good for telling the real truth.
“Are the photographs not unedifyingly dissonant, their beauty jarring with the painfulness of their content?” I don’t think so. Think about blue and red, black and white. Aren’t these combinations beautiful? May be more than beautiful, that’s visually striking, which serves a better role when we don’t want to be superficial.

I’m a forgetful person, but there was some time I seldom forget my dreams. I’m afraid to forget my dreams so I write them down. The experience of several of my dreams are incredible and unbelievable.It’s too beautiful to tell them by words. Here’re some examples of them:

“Rhizome” is an old definition of a way of thinking. It was doubted.But it’s interesting that it can apply to political realm.
I think Rhizome is great as a model of sth’s development, because”The Rhizome has the potential to produce great change”,”It has potential to move into new territories”.

Before Internet, the last great terror was broadcast. So, I understand how influential “War of the Worlds” was in 1987. The failure of ASCAP was because they didn’t provide free access to the public. Easier accessibility means more popular, and popular means survive.
Remixing is thing I like best thanks to the Read-Write culture, which makes creativity develop without any limit.That’s how memes appear, and how some ads became famous…Without it, there may be no pop-culture, since pop-culture itself is a remix, it’s heavily influenced by mass media, where filled with consumerist contents. Andy Warhol’s artworks, vapor wave style visuals and music (I feel like they lead remix grown rapidly(from 2010), they are the twist point between before 2010 and after 2010.) are good examples.

I realize how important “boundaries ” and ” balance” is after watching Lawrence’s speech. Is copyright really a boundary? Do it really keep the balance of nowadays society? If copyright is a limit more than a safe zone, at that time, what will take the place of copyright? 
I remember I discussed with someone about style in remix culture. One said, “ Remixed production like music tend to have no style, for example one music contains rock elements, blue elements, and some classic pieces, then what style does it have? No style at all. Lame!” I disagree. Remix itself is a style. And most importantly, people can speak out loud own opinions differently thanks to remix. It’s more meaningful than arguing about what style they are. Plus, style developed over time.There was of cause no electronic music in ancient time. We need to keep up with the modern pace.

1.Watch the 1h + 20min long animation: Sita Sings the Blues.
It’s kind of like a narrative history of Hinduism. At first, I couldn’t find the connection between different piece of characters with different form of animation. But I understood more when I finish watching it.
What interest me most is that all the animation was made based on the audio of Indian guys talking or even arguing with each other, it seems that they were trying to remind the story told from their grandparents. They ‘re not just read the knowledge of Hinduism gods. This is better for my understanding to a foreign culture. And I feel like my favorite way to get understand to unfamiliar knowledge by listening to someone who had close experiences to it, the content itself would give me a more authentic feeling.

It’s said in the video that some artists copy to claim the prestige of a particular heritage.This is really meaningful. It’s also said their purpose are to rework a stock artistic subject for their own time.This one I feel like the portrait of Pope Julius the Second became a “meme” in the history.
 Pop art artists like Andy Warhol “blurs the boundaries between artists and factory workers, commodity and art.”I fond this ironic because many artists nowadays just follow the main stream of pop culture blindly, they believe their artwork is a luxury product for the art market.
So, I like Appropriated art more than pap art, appropriated art allow artist to select objects freely, which better for them to speak out their own voice.(I kind of want to develop to this direction somehow...) I went to see Andy Warhol’s exhibition for two times is not because I really like this exhibition. I was trying to find the answer why he became so successful. But the exhibition layout is pretty good, works are very well restored, and each stage and category are explained very clearly.

Essence of art isn’t exist in manufacturing artworks.I agree, although there may be many people say they are art, I think at lease they don’t have the soul from the original artwork.
“Unconceal the truth” is a phrase I learned from Michael’s lecture this Tuesday.Yes, art let the truth originate, and became enlightening.But this is talking about the result of art, not the essence of truth of art. In the past, “aletheia” is similar to “mimesis” because most arts were fine arts, like painting, sculpture, the are comparatively realistic visual art (even an abstract artworks in style of cubnism or sth were mimesis in real life”truth”). Although in Van Goah’s work, truth isn’t equal to correctness, in this aspect, the paintings were intended to let concealed truth to become unconcealed, that’s “bringing-forth”.
I feel somehow satisfied to hear this explanation of essence of truth of art.I think subconsciously most artist know about this. But with a valid, rational and reasonable exploitation is significant for alarming artist ourselves and outsiders.

video: William Kentridge Interview: How We Make Sense of the World
The journey to the moon (2003), is a film about drawing and acting. Mr. William is really good at the cross-fertilization between different media.
 “What will come (has already come)” really surprised me, it was made in 2007, the drawn animation combined so will with the filmed water surface. The stirred water in the cup gradually became a starry scene viewing from a telescope. I feel like it referred to the era around 2007, that had a big progress in human’s space exploration. Nasa had some discovery and breakthrough, so I felt like William expressed this feeling to us through this work, showing how beautiful the gate of outer space opened to us.
I think the core of many of his animated film is to display the drawing process as quick as you can think. And organizing the different orders of the scene he drawn, this process is more like director.It’s also interesting that he could discover sth new while the film was being made.These scenes/fragments as footages, or as a kind of tool, let readers reinterprets retrospective. This make his work “timeless”. Just like the first paragraph, I wrote down my interpretation of this work today.But my interpretation may change next time I watch it again. Viewers from 2020s may also have different interpretations.

I hope I can separate into two of myself, help each other to do art, cause I always feel like someone can easily point out my direction went too far when I stucked in my artwork. I hope the “someone”  was me.
Plus, I love the sentence he said”uncertainty of image/politics/philosophy is much closer to what the world is”. It reminds me of Micheal’s presentation last week about art an truth. And “unfolding” the truth relates to William’s drawing & acting as a process.
We may not have an instant answer to the question we are investigating, we should embrace openness. 
I’m also impressed by his “Reufusal of time”, he explained it can be interpreted as someone escape his fate, which is also related to black Hole and string theory. The must-media opera is also very powerful.It’s sth timeless, cross cultural.

I Stella Carrier am thrilled because I have succeeded in saving over 1800 dollars after taxes by this timeframe. This for me is a sweet money victory on top of achieving success beyond my wildest dreams at my University of Maryland College Park food services job. I Stella Carrier am also happy to report that I am also thriving in my volunteer work and I am cross training in important skills that help me to relate to others even better socially and give me a sense of purpose and belonging. I Stella Carrier am also growing through my therapy that I voluntarily choose to go to. Additionally, I Stella Carrier am also happy to report that the marriage between my wonderful, sweet, and handsome husband of nearly 14 years come January 22 2018 is growing closer and more loving each day.

 I Stella Carrier am extremely happy to report that I now have over 10,000 dollars after taxes saved. I Stella Carrier am blessed for this money blessing because this amount in money savings is in addition to having more than enough money to pay at least the minimum on my student loan payments and other necessary bills and expenses. As with many other educated people both American citizens and highly aware people residing outside of the U.S., I am aware that Puerto Rico has voted to become the 51st state of the United States and they are still pending approval from Congress, which naturally still renders them a commonwealth of the United States not yet a state of the United States. With that said, whether President Donald Trump likes it or not, any citizen of Puerto Rico is currently allowed to move and reside anywhere they desire within the United States because they are American citizens. As a woman who voted for Hillary Clinton last year but whose late adoptive father was a supporter of Donald Trump I do try my best to see the good in President Donald Trump. However, public relations wise, I would hope that any of Donald Trump’s employees who are affiliated with his publicity would advise him on how this looks that he allows citizens of Florida and Texas to make use of foodstamps but not citizens of Puerto Rico especially after some of the politicians of Puerto Rico praised President Donald Trump in his recovery efforts. Yes, it is common knowledge that many of the citizens of Puerto Rico voted democrat yet this does not disqualify them for foodstamp usage approval for hot meals due to them being American citizens. Before anyone asks, I am blessed to be foodstamp free as I am blessed with a good paying job and an amazing, sweet, and handsome husband who is both ambitious and resourceful, yet I would not dare judge anyone on foodstamps. However, I felt compelled to speak up as I am really trying to see the good in President Donald Trump yet this story makes me want to say that someone in Donald Trump’s political circle needs to tell him to show more compassion towards even American citizens who are not predominantly his political supporters.

I saw some info online on Melissa Ben-ishay and I would agree that both her career/money success and weight loss are hard-won efforts. I confess that I still want to watch the Last Ship tv show and the Good Place this autumn season and catch up on some Game of Thrones when I can. Due to time reasons, I only have time to watch some seasons of NCIS and I became interested in watching the Los Angeles versions after reading about them in a recent memoir written by Hillary Clinton. I also heard a local radio commercial less than 2 hours ago while I was in the shower advertising for NCIS Los Angeles and this article makes me wonder if Pauley Perette features in any of the Los Angeles episodes. Nonetheless, from me hearing about the NCIS Los Angeles tv show on local Washington D.C. radio less than 2 hours ago and unexpectedly coming across this article I intuitively and logically take this as a sign and hint to consider watching NCIS Los Angeles and also seeing if Perette is in any of those episodes when I can squeeze in the time after also keeping up on the most current episodes of The Last Ship and the Good Place. An amazon intell ad saying if your customer is on the move join them, due to the website link being connected to my amazon website link I prefer to avoid listing it from amazon for privacy reasons relating to my login, however I had to at least reference the words for anyone seeing this who wants to look up the ad on amazon.

As with other people, my prayers and well wishes go out to everyone affected by this shocking incident that occurred in Nevada during the Harvest Music country festival. Obviously, I do not condone whatever drove Stephen Paddock to do what he did to many innocent people yet I am surprised that one motive is not being as widely discussed; what was Stephen Paddock’s social life, love life, and overall career life like from the time he was in his 30s andor even his 20s until 64 years of age. I say this because I noticed that he chose to kill so many people when they were having fun with their friends for family, was he wishing that he could be like some of the concert goers who have abundant family members andor friends surrounding him but instead of channeling that energy to get out there and meet people like other people do, you can pretty much get the picture. Additionally, I would also see if the law enforcement officials are comfortable interviewing Paddock’s family andor even at least one or both of  his exes andor in laws again to see if he was always rich in order to see if he felt the need to do what he did to both inflict revenge andor save face as it is human nature for even some family members to keep their distance emotionally if they are concerned about you possibly needing their help financially even if temporarily andor they would freely offer their help. I would also interview the in-laws andor any coworkers andor friends he knew in his 40s andor 50s to get an idea of how his social and love life was like without shaming anyone if they happen to tell a harsh truth about him (in order to get them to feel safe to open up about any hidden motives that may not be apparent to other people who may not have gotten to know him until Paddock was in his 50s/60s when he became wealthier). I believe Paddock’s brother that they got along, but obviously there had to be some details that were hidden from even his brother as it is also human nature to sometimes withhold andor be secretive about certain things from even the most well-meaning family members.

Goal; aim for 6 miles per day and writing 5 times a week time limit one hour and 30 minutes, resource gathering 15 minutes max- one hour and 45 minutes max minimum half hour and minimum 2 minute resource blogging, eat first and then write,  writing twice a week away from blog, public blog writing at least 4 times a week and maximum of 7 times a week
 Schedule them persistence is imaginative and intuitive key
