ART RAMBLES: as i mentioned on the tags of my last drawing this piece gave me SUCH a headache #i think it's probably cos it was just supposed to be a quick sketch so i used a more stable pencil brush #but then i really liked it so i decided to properly colour it instead of just doing the watercolour thing i usually do for sketches #but with finished pieces i like the lineart to be kinda messy and the sketch to even show through bit #and since i used the more stable brush for the sketch it ended up looking WAY too clean. not like my stuff at all.#so i just started throwing stuff at the wall to see what could make it more interesting. full background! actual lineart! texture layers!#and this here is what i was the happiest with. i don't... love it though. it should be looking way more interesting given the pose #and then i also did the purge girl halfway through this and it looked SO good right out of the bat (pun intended)#so i went a bit into a spiral. did some realistic stuff i'll post soon. and now am trying out a thick black lineart style.#(i'll definitely still use the coloured lines for the sketchy watercolour stuff though. it just looks way too cute)

Favourite pre-timeskip Sanji moments

These are a few of my favourite pre ts sanji moments

(1) Baratie arc when sanji served fresh food for don krieg despite everyone telling him that krieg was notorious for betraying people. Sanji still served the food because of his value of "feeding the hungry no matter what"

(2) Sweet sanji preparing bentos for Luffy vivi and a special drink for Vivi's duck karoo so they can go explore the little garden island. Also packing and tying the lunches for the kids (luffy and karoo) by himself

(3) water 7 Sanji following his principle of "never waste food" while fighting CP7's ramen guy wanze (who had a full ramen armour and sanji cut his armour up and served the ramens all in different plates around the kitchen)

(4) thriller bark Sanji holding an unconscious nami up so she won't get injured while he takes all the hits from Absalom He's not just a simp, he genuinely cares for nami

(5) water 7 Sanji smoking a cigarette while spying and finding out sensitive government information

(6) Post enies lobby filler sanji crying throwing up stressing over finding out the right spices of a fried rice. He is a true chef at heart and has so much love for his craft

(7) post skypiea filler G-8 arc sanji when someone says he is better than all of the navy chefs and sanji cutely offers to give his recipes to them. He is so cute kind and humble

(8) sabaody sanji kicking the Celestial dragon knowing what'll happen and not giving a fuck anyway

(9) skypiea sanji being all big smiles and happy while showing conis the bento he has arranged for her and telling them how arranging food is an art (look at the little winged angel he put there as a representation for conis who has wings)

(10) Sanji leaving a message for nami in water 7, even in the dire situation they were in (usopp left, robin was abducted, they were all accused of murder) sanji being his usual cute loser self

#honestly scratch this. every sanji moment is my favorite moment #these are the moments that arent as big or as talked about as ie. thriller bark or enies lobby sanji #it's about time we all come together to acknowledge and appreciate how charming perfect beautiful sanji is #i love sanji so much and it was hard choosing just 10. My number one tip for new Tumblr artists, or for artists in general:

‼️POST THAT WIP‼️

People fucking love sketches, people love loose and messy art, people love getting to see your lines before colour!!

WIPs often do just as well, if not better than an intricately rendered piece. You have nothing to lose by sharing that WIP!

#art tips #artists on tumblr #i used to worry that if i shared a WIP people would be less likely to interact with the finished piece #but that hasn't been the case at all #the only thing you lose out on by not sharing WIPs is the engagement sharing that WIP would get you #if you're still worried just leave a day between posting the WIP and the finished thing #so that you're not posting them back to back #just make sure that when you do share a WIP you do so at a point where the piece looks attractive #and then either post it as is or crop it in a tasteful way that makes people excited to see the rest!#and yeah sometimes a sketch won't do well but the same can be said for finished pieces #that's just how it goes sometimes <3

Do you think the reason why Joke doesn't know how to drive a car was because he went to prison before anyone could teach him

#since he wrote and failed the national entrance exam i think he started attempting the exam at the age of 18 #because thats when most people finish 12th grade and his father wants him to win the overachiever competition #most strict parents can only tolerate failure a max of 3 times but joke's dad is a piece of work so ill give joke 2 years of failed attempts #that would make him 20 years old and the minimum driving age in thailand is 21 and dad wants to play by the rules #so i think that joke went to jail when he was 20 and so could not learn how to drive #he must have missed out on so many mundane things in jail #my son :(#joke jack and joker #jack & joker #jack and joker #jackjoker #idk the fandom tags so pls help

things I wish I could relive for the first time again:

that magical window where you finish a new piece of media, having watched/read it all by yourself with no fandom contact whatsoever, and you are just so happy about it, and full of interesting theories and takeaways, and just in love with it as a gorgeous piece of art.

because I swear to god as soon as you join the fandom for anything, you're bombarded with how you're supposed to view characters and their arcs, how you're supposed to morally and ethically judge the plot and the ways it apparently failed to present the right message, and if you don't you'll either be shunned for not sharing the popular headcanons or you'll be harassed for not criticizing the source material enough.

like how is it that the fans of a piece of media are also the ones being the most negative about it? If I like a show or a movie or a book, well, I liked it. That's kind of the point. I'm actually not here to tear it apart and talk about how it didn't live up to standards other people had! I enjoyed it for what it was, and forcing myself to find negative things to say about it doesn't actually bring me more enjoyment of it or reap any benefit to me. Fandom's a double-edged sword; you want to join a community to share your love for a piece of art, and the price you pay for a modicum of joy is a mountain of negativity. that's one main reason that I never engage with fandom until I'm completely done with a show, because if I was plugged into all of that commentary and discourse during the process, I'd be completely colored by how I'm expected to interpret everything this piece of art is presenting to me without being able to even form my own opinions.

#this is currently about arcane but it's also every fandom i've been in since the dawn of time #there is so much political discourse about how the show handled the piltover zaun conflict and class struggle and i just #like i don't even know what to say besides. art doesn't have to provide the correct answer you know #it's not asking you to accept their explanation as the right one. it's just presenting a story. a scenario. a nuanced one at that #which of course the internet is the enemy of nuance as we know #especially in arcane i thought it was fairly clear that the end wasn't the bright shining future anyone hoped it'd be.#was anyone right in their actions? did anything turn out the way they wanted? or was it just as messy and gray as real life #we're living in such a myopic time for art where it's believed every story must take the correct stance or be invalid or even harmful #instead of just offering a perspective. a lived experience. a hypothetical. a story.#and when it gets to be headache inducing all I can do is take myself back to how I felt when I watched the show for the first time #and I came away from the whole thing being incredibly moved and captivated by the entire story and its nuance.#i had no qualms and no criticisms and i was very impressed with the depth of storytelling surrounding the political parts of the plot #as well as the character arcs. i guess people like to dunk on viktor's s2 arc nowadays and i just. shrug. i was blown away by it #for me at least i have nothing but pure love and admiration for art after i've viewed it. it's only after interacting with fandom #that the criticisms seep in and now i can't unsee it and even if i don't agree with it it still muddies my ability to enjoy the art #fandom is a curse in that sense. like i seek out art that i enjoy. i have no desire to make myself dislike that art. whats the point #why are the biggest haters of a piece of media the 'fans' of it idk.#me finishing a show: wow i love all the characters and the plot and the cinematography! I want to talk to others about how cool it is!#meanwhile the fandom hating characters to the point of death threats to their creators #after 13 years in fandom i can say this - if you don't need to join the fandom for smth then don't lmao.#you'll be able to retain your genuine enjoyment of the thing.#that whole 'if you didnt like what i made then make your own' philosophy people use on fanfic/fanart should be applied more #to actual published art too. you should be able to meet art where it's at and if you don't like what it's saying or how it looks then #just move on and find something else. another branch of the 'the greatest enemy of the left is the left' tree imo #a show has a lot of queer rep? bash it to the point of making the creators go into hiding for not doing it how you think it should be #no artist will ever be able to satisfy everyone's demands. they just want to put their experiences and ideas into the world #creators that try to do good get more vitriol than those who never try. they're scrutinized harder and judged more harshly #it's just. one of those 'real fucking tired of fandom' nights. the best cure is just going back and rewatching the source material #all on your own and falling back in love with it. just you and your genuine connection with the art.#anyway what happened to steven universe was unforgiveable and it really ruined fandom for me. like. yall don't deserve nice things

Cyberverse set during the truce when they had the wall up

Hot Rod standing on the autobots side with a guitar trying to impress soundwave by singing I love you too much

Hes balancing on a bunch of crates bcs no one wanted to help him(its the middle of the night and theyre sleeping) and soundwave is on a porch that over looks the wall

Hot Rod thinks its working but with no physical reaction from soundwave its hard to tell. Little does he know its totally working and soundwave is geeking out inside because he loves the book of life

I think that once Hot Rod realizes that big showy displays of affection wont work on soundwave, he’s smart enough to back track and try something that would actually get his attention

Music is number one on the list of things that work
