Web Design Basics: What Your Business Needs to Do to Succeed at Busine
With the digital-first age, establishing a robust online presence as a business has never been more important. Your website is the pillar of your brand's digital marketing, determining everything from customer interaction to conversion. Regardless of whether it's branding, site building, e-commerce building, mobile app development, digital marketing, SEO, or performance marketing, website-building fundamentals are the same. This is a complete guide to what every business must do in order to prosper online.
1. Powerful Brand Identity
Your site is your brand. It has to clearly articulate your mission, values, and unique selling points (USPs). A powerful brand identity entails:
Professional Logo: Simple to remember and elegant logo creates more visibility.
Consistent Color Scheme & Typography: Consistency everywhere sets new standards.
Visual appeal & well-crafted UI/UX elements create lasting impressions.
2. Easy-to-Use Web Design & Navigation
A poorly designed website may scare away potential buyers. Take note of these:
Responsive Design: Make your website look and function beautifully on desktops, tablets, and mobiles.
Intuitive Navigation: Smooth user experience boosts engagement and minimizes bounce rates.
Clear Call-to-Actions (CTAs): Strategically located CTAs drive users to conversions.
3. Quick Loading Speed & Performance Optimization
Slow website annoys users and damages search engine rankings. To optimize performance:
Compress Images & Use Lazy Loading: Heavy media files make your website slow. Compress images without compromising on quality but cutting down on loading time.
Utilize Browser Caching & Code Minification: Effective coding habits improve performance.
Use a Content Delivery Network (CDN): Speeds up loading by sending content to numerous servers.
4. Mobile Optimization & App Integration
Most of the traffic these days comes from mobile phones, so mobile optimization is now a must. Ensure that:
Mobile-Responsive Designs: Your site auto-resizes with changing screen sizes.
Progressive Web Apps (PWAs): Giving app-like experiences through a browser increases engagement.
Seamless Mobile App Integration: Provided you have an app, integrating it with your website provides a consistent user experience.
5. Search Engine Optimization (SEO) Best Practices
SEO is vital to organic traffic generation. Practice the following:
Keyword Optimization: Add proper keywords organically into content.
Meta Tags & Alt Text: Metatitles, descriptions, and image alt tags need to be optimized for higher search visibility.
Internal & External Linking: Link internally to trustworthy sources and link internally between similar pages for maximum SEO.
Technical SEO: Leverage schema markup, XML sitemaps, and robots.txt to enhance crawling and search engine indexing.
6. E-commerce Functions & Payment Gateways
For internet consumers, a functional e-commerce site is the success key. The best features are:
Secure Payment Gateways: Allow for different payment options like PayPal, Stripe, or Razorpay.
Product Optimization: Maximize with high-definition images, detailed descriptions, and reviews for conversion.
Cart Abandonment Recovery: Automated emails can retrieve abandoned sales.
7. High-Quality, Engaging Content
Content marketing is an effective way to attract and engage the customer base. Must-content features are:
In-Depth Blog Posts: Develop SEO-optimized blog posts occasionally that inform and entertain your visitors.
Conversational Product & Service Pages: Just tell what you are providing and why it is in the best interest of your customers.
Customer Testimonials & Case Studies: Build trust and credibility by providing real user experience.
8. Security & Data Protection
Web security is non-negotiable when it comes to web design. Install:
SSL Certificates: Secure data to secure transactions and search rankings.
Security Audits: Catch and prevent likely breaches.
GDPR Compliance: Implement data privacy protocols to protect customer information.
9. Performance Marketing & Analytics
An incomplete website without tracking and optimization. Use:
Google Analytics & Heatmaps: Track behavior and optimize web strategies.
Conversion Rate Optimization (CRO): Test items like headlines and CTAs to increase conversions.
Social Media & PPC Integration: Leverage paid marketing and social media engagement to become more dominant.
10. Regular Maintenance & Scalability
A site is never truly 'complete.' To stay competitive:
Periodic Updates: Periodic software, plugin, and content updates.
Bug Fixes & Troubleshooting: Seamless functionality with timely fixes.
Scalability for Growth: Your site needs to be scalable to handle growth in traffic and more features as your business grows.
Conclusion
A well-designed site is a business energy source that powers business advancement. You're a branding master, site designer, e-commerce designer, smartphone application developer, SEO master, or internet advertising specialist - these site building blocks will definitely create a healthful online presence, enhance business relationship with consumers, and enhance conversion.

Out of interest what does multimedia arts teach? Also I LOVE UR ART AND AUS I HOPE U GET BETTER
The name itself, more than 1 medium from both traditional and digital, but mainly digital (whether it'd be visuals, audio, etc.) 😂
A little bit of everything with the goal to give purpose/meaning, communication (in most senses; visual, auditory, tactile, etc.), and solutions through innovative and creative ways...
#messyr#it also depends on what the school offers as specialization in a multimedia course#The school I study in offers BMMA with specialization in Graphic Design#so basically. we're the backbone to media. films. ads. brands. layouts. web designs. sound designs. animations. motion graphics and more

Love how instead of working on my 20-minute end-of-term research presentation (important, deadline imminent) or one of the bazillions of fic bunnies floating around in my brain (good for my mental health), I decided to spend the last three hours coding in CSS (a language I do not know) so I could type in Kryptonese on AO3
#i cannot stress to you how much i do Not know basic web design#hopefully the Internship will cure this#since that seems to be mostly front-end stuff#school talk#dc comics

Doujinshi Sales Update
I am aiming for sales to go live Sunday January 19th @ 19:00 GMT (2pm EST, 11am PST)
I DIDN'T FINISH IN TIME, SORRY. orz SALES WILL BE DELAYED.
(By a week, maybe, more details in the reblog.)
⊱ •❅──────⋅•⋅⊰∙∘☽༓☾∘∙⊱⋅•⋅──────• ⊰
Important notes:
PURCHASES ARE AVAILABLE TO ADULTS 18+ ONLY as many of the books contain explicit content.
ALL BOOKS ARE IN JAPANESE.
All books are secondhand and may have minor imperfections. These will be noted where I've spotted them, but I cannot guarantee the condition 100%.
I AM BASED IN THE UK. I am happy to ship internationally, but shipping costs can be pretty gnarly nowadays.
Hi all! Sorry that this is a little later than anticipated, I have been super busy with Christmas, moving house, and a new job (I joined right at the second busiest event of the whole year), as well as then trying to compile pictures and full information for 500 books...
The plan is:
I have made my own online shopfront for it. It looks a little like this.
Etc., etc. It scrolls a long way.
It is not fancy, but you should be able to just add the books you want into a cart and go to checkout and!! It will calculate shipping for you, because I am adding the weight of all the books so the site can figure it out automatically. There will also be a shipping page with tables of weight brackets, shipping method, and cost for each, so you can preemptively get an idea of what to expect.
(Weighing 500 books individually in an arduous process, alas.)
In any case, it should be super straightforward, just add stuff to cart and check out.
I am still adding cover images for all the books, and as much information about each one as I can, which is why it is taking a while. Please bear with me a little longer, hopefully with the extra preparation time everything will go super smoothly when the site does go live!
Prices
The ""high-end"" popular circles books are mostly around US$6-8 (this is what you can see in the screenshot).
Other circles are mostly around US$4-6.
Some older books that are maybe a little outdated in style or what have you might be on there for just US$2.
There are also a couple that are free, just add them to your order and pay shipping!
Anything higher than these brackets is either because it was very rare and difficult for me to find at the time, or is a particularly large book (e.g. the Reunion Archives in the screenshot is a compilation book containing six previous works in one and a good inch thick).
DISCOUNTS ARE AVAILABLE FOR LARGER ORDERS.
There is 10% off orders over $30, 20% off orders over $60, and 30% off orders over $100. (That's the only way I could figure out how to do it with the particular site builder.)
Tag List
If you would like to be added to the tag list (or taken off, I am just tagging everyone who expressed an interest on the previous post) please let me know!

#doujinshi sales#do not speak to me about web design i'm just using the basic ass template from the site builder >>#and that's okay#lmao#given it's just going to be up for a blast of sales then taken down once most of the books are gone#i'm not invested in spending all my time and energy getting it to look super swanky or anything#as long as it functions and is reasonable to navigate it's all good

Lee is a rotting thing. He has magic and power limited only by his lack of imagination and practice, but there are no blessings without curses, and magic hates it’s children. Someday the same rot that gives him his power will devour him from the inside out. His only chance at survival comes in the form of Mothwood, the man said to live forever. Mothwood is also a rotting thing. The only rotting thing the rot has never managed to claim completely, and he won’t tell anyone how.
Read my webcomic on its own site or here! Pages update 2 at a time on Fridays!

I think it would've been cooler if they leaned into the aquatic side of Light Furies more!! I gave my own redesign of the Light Fury!
Also making them an aquatic dragon would've made them looking sleeker a lot more logical.
Anyways I hope someone likes this -w-''
There's a whole little rant in the tags btw
#light fury redesign#art#my art#httyd#httyd 3#light fury#so basically i loved the little sail like thing on light fury's back and thought that she was probably more of an aquatic dragon with her#fin (?) shaped like that. So i just added some webbing to the claws and made them blue instead because that will help this species blend in#with the water if they're blue!!#I also thought about making her more of a gliding dragon but instead i just decided to keep the same wings. The scales being glow in the#dark was also a must because if they're living in water they might swim to deeper water so obviously they have to have glowing scales!!#I contemplated giving her glowing markings as well but i couldn't figure out any that i liked. I also wanted to give her gills but i feel#that would've created another problem like the fact she can't breathe anything BUT water y'know? i don't really like her being toothless'#mate much either but that would create a dilemma if that design was put in the movie because she would be fully aquatic while the dragon#that she loves is anything but aquatic lmao#anyways i'm done rambling

just discovered the most jaw-droppingly unpredictable use of my pre-existing skills today when i found out that my experience customizing tumblr themes has prepared me for an essential part of my university education and career
because i have to make a portfolio of work on a website that, APPARENTLY, uses more or less exactly the same theme browsing, selection and editing process as tumblr?
#ruin studies education#i should change this tag to#i hope they teach learning first#bc of a very funny joke a friend made#about my master or learning & teaching degree#i was prepared for that experience to have transferable skills#but i was expecting the transferable skills to be HTML or maybe web design#my current theme is very basic#bc i remember there being a problem with the previous one. and by then i had lost interest.#but in the past i put a lot of work into my themes

so you're telling me Adobe was gonna buy Figma for 20 BILLIONS, the deal fell through, and in the meantime Adobe essentially stopped all support for XD?
hiding it away in the depths of the All Apps CC sub with no indication on wether this is temporary or not? leaving most of its users with no dedicated UI/UX design app?
im gonna commit a crime
#I haven't done any web design in a hot minute but I need to freshen up a web page for work and I was planning to use it for mockups#I was able to download but its basically hidden away with no updates no support WHATTTTT#DON'T PISS ME OFFFFFFF#nik speaks#adobe

there are SOME common complaints that i see on the toyhouse forums that i agree with. like i think its a bit silly to put ur dni in ur profile warning (since theres an option to turn off profile warnings, meaning that ppl can n will easily miss it), n likewise putting something like “DONT STEAL, COPY, OR GET HEAVILY INSPIRED BY MY OCS OR ELSE I’LL BREAK UR LEGS IRL” in a profile warning is unnecessary n just takes away space u could n should be using for actual content warnings (n also content warnings should be more detailed than just saying "sensitive n upsetting content tw”).
but my bigger problem is ppl making their toyhouse pages hard to navigate, hard to read or very eyestrainy, n hard to load on less powerful devices. i promise that u dont need a million different subfolders with names that dont actually tell me whats in em or the tiniest Aesthetic text for ur scenecore page layout that could kill a phone older than 2 years. I Promise.
#.txt#most if not all of the takes on the forums i agree with are basically abt accessibility or web design#which makes sense. ppl who use the site daily are gonna know what works n whats annoying
