i love neocities (im currently making a new website) but god why do so many people make their sites completely inaccessible and unusable

wild to me that there are people who have no desire to paint their walls in fun ways. and i don't just mean "people who choose sad neutral colors on purpose" i mean: why aren't more homeowners out there scribbling on their walls? it's your property, you can paint and color and draw whatever you want to! when did we as a species stop fingerpainting our homes that was a mistake

Accessibility tip:

If you want to automate your home a bit, but you don't want any "smart" tech, you can just buy remote controlled power sockets instead

They are a lot cheaper and easier to set up and use than some home automation smart tech nonsense

They don't need an app (but some models come with optional apps and there are apps that are compatible with most of these)

Many of them use the 433mhz frequency to communicate, which makes most models compatible with each other, even if they are from different manufacturers

The tech has been around for a long time and will be around for a long time to come

You don't have to put any fucking corporate listening devices like an amazon echo in your home

Models for outdoors exist as well

so you shut up and you load your life like shotgun shells and you try to make yourself whole in the way that others are whole. you let your father's words spill out of your mouth. you make a quick joke rather than tear your heart open. you sing into the mic and go home with stars in your eyes. your life is beautiful and you're lucky! you have everything a person can need!

but it would be nice, is the thing. to have a love that feels like peace.

i don’t mind suspending my disbelief for leverage’s person-sized ventilation shafts bc that’s pretty standard for the genre, but that doesn’t mean i won’t laugh a bit at some of the egregiously large vents. particularly in the crowning acheivement job (lev: red s2 finale) because - well just look at this lol! harry and parker, two adults, can kneel side by side in those vents. parker can sit upright.

that museum was made for vent crawling purposes. that’s just an extra room in the museum they forgot to decorate. the leverageverse has a thief union that successfully lobbied for a better working environment. these vents double as a playground for museum-goers�� children. i was crying with laughter thinking about this and harry’s vent crisis was NOT helping me remember that there was a serious heist thing going on lol, i love this show.

Another thing about inaccessibility that non-disabled people don’t realise is how dehumanising and diminishing it can feel: having to circle a building to find a step-free entrance, maybe where the dumpsters or other junk is kept? Having to ring or call for someone like a child who is waiting for permission to enter while everyone else walks by with no problem? Having to be carried up a flight of stairs, with everyone watching wide-eyed?

Yeaaaaahhhh, it’s no joke.

Not to be the idiot who only comes into your askbox for recipes, but can you share the beef stroganoff recipe

No problem! I got it from my mother, who got it from her mother who passed shortly after I was born, so I got her blessing to share it. I'll be going closely to the original wording of the recipe with a few asides in parentheses for how I learned it/some of my own personal touches.

First you get your steak (specifically stew meat) and cut them into thin strips. Dust them with flour and a pepper (my personal strat is to put the meat in a zipped up gallon bag with roughly a third-cup of flour and some pepper and SHAKE THAT BAD BOY).

Melt a 1/4 cup of margarine into a skillet (Important step. I forgot the fully melt it last time I did this which caused the meat to stick to the skillet and burn). Once it's melted, put the meat into the skillet and brown it. Mix in a chopped onion (and mushrooms yeeeeeeeaaaaah mushrooms baby!!) and a chopped clove of garlic (I also personally advocate for adding garlic salt but that's just because I love garlic salt)

Once it's all mixed up, stir in a can of beef broth (about 2 cups). Cover it and let it simmer for an hour until tender.

Then you stir in a cup of sour cream and let it cook for 5 minutes. Then serve that over egg noodles. Boom. Beef stroganoff.

I've got some cooking right now, so I'll post pictures when it's done!

if playing in Japanese isn't an option, then unfortunately I think English translations are still pretty difficult to find...I know there's some floating around YouTube and various blog sites for the first couple of main story chapters, plus a handful of card stories, and I think that's about it. :( I have heard there's a fan discord with rough translations/summaries(?) of most of the main story + events, but I'm not sure about the details on that?

I think it's definitely worth checking out if you can though! come join us all in agreement about who the best character is and why it's Leon

was thinking about the prisoners missing antler and what could've happened to it and landed on the hc that it was growing towards their head and would have hurt them if it continued so it was cut off when they were a kid/teen and their antlers were still in velvet. so here's a shitty ibis paint doodle of them pre-antler chop with their silly fucked up antler lol
