I'm obsessed with the concept of Minthara "the funniest person I know" Baenre.
When she's new in the gang, right after Moonrise, and everyone is still getting used to the Scary Serious Drow General of the First House of Menzoberranzan (who also tried to kill us all) hanging around the campside - until she delivers the most deadpan joke imaginable over dinner or impersonates someone they met in a really dry tone and everyone just needs like...10 seconds to compute what happened. Before just bursting out hysterically.
#I feel like it's rare enougn that you don't seen it coming#but also 50/50 between a dad joke ('it was a beautiful webbing') and some comment about poisoning everyone#(hence the 'you think I'm joking' in the epilogue)#but these are probably also dad jokes by Menzoberranzan standards. also like the idea of diff drow noble houses having their own specific styles too - like the way that they dress, the way they do their hair etc. the higher ranking houses have aesthetics specific to their own houses and it’s easily recognisable, but lower middle-class houses’ style would be more subtle in comparison and their aesthetics would be influenced from the higher class houses. but all of their styles - the beauty standards, their clothing styles etc. are all based on lolth and their own way of emulating Her
#like I think drow beauty standards are based on Lolth but it’s done in such a way that they’re avoiding to fully mimic her#bc mimicking her outright would be considered a slight. you have to be subtle about it#but it IS based on her. and whatever they consider beautiful is whatever Lolth appears to be#also braids..!! I love the idea of noble women wearing elaborate braids bc they look like webs with their white hair#and it’s much of a status symbol as it is a sign of beauty. like early act 1 shri’iia has multiple braids going on#but as she goes through her adventure her hair gets less complex bc she doesn’t have the time to do it up anymore#in the party her hair is loose and it’s just flying wildly behind her. and it’s so long!!!! Shri’iia had such long hair before#now she’s a bobbed diva#shut up about bg3.

You won't catch me contesting that the US Government sucks, but that doesn't actually make it's geopolitical rival, the Chinese Government, your friend, or an organization that also doesn't suck really bad.
#It's a complicated question because it's worth not thinking about them in the way that the US government wants#But that can't just mean Thinking The Opposite of that without winding up in some silly places#IDK I'm trying not to get yelled at a bit more than I'm trying to be right here#But I've seen some wild takes on this webbed site that take as fact some pretty big outright fabrications about the CCP#And the average standard of living there#I guess as much as anything this is a suggestion that people can go online and say whatever#and you should have a heuristic process that is at least mildly resistant to that possibility

'im gonna destroy you in this game son. every time until you learn not to lose so badly#but you will still lose. <3'#house gensa forever house rustazh foreverrr#klingonaase my darling i love you you're sooo latin coded#i really liked the singing and the idea of like gestures vaguely house gensa being three hundred kids with no formal houses or lines#to belong to. <- and so you will all be together. yayy new family!#i also liked the acknowledgment of like. other cultures existing on klinzhai (qo'nos) vulcans and orions living with klingons and such#this book really had it all im not done posting. theres more songs and looks at their food; daily life; clothing and how they decorate#houses. more examples of klingonaase lol of course cuss words and such. they also talk about battle language which if i'm not mistaken is#like clipped tlhIngan?#but they call it battle language and translate it for the reader. fun!#and of course the klingons end up on earth so theres insights on how they feel about coffee and human food. apparently the air on earth is#very thin and dry to them; every scene where they talk about klingon comfort standards they mention making it dark and humid and hot.#red lights and such! for inside#and they say the thin air on earth makes it hard to hear for klingons! i thought that was very cool#nobody:#me: they like salt water baths and dark ale and they wear silk and they eat pastries with butter. if you even care.#they mention human chair designs being uncomfortable for klingon anatomy too; there was a description i remember of house khemara#having cushions on the ground around a fireplace instead of chairs#its such a pretty description too; they have high ceilings and wooden beams along the roof and and sky lights for an indoor garden#iron railings for the staircases. mwah i love this book i really recommend it#theres something (gestures) here that reminds me very strongly of worf but i cant put my finger on it to be honest with you. not even like#the komerex zha specifically either like the vibes of the whole book.....
