Romantic antique obi with embroidered oshidori (mandarin ducks lovebirds) and shidarezakura (weeping cherry blossoms). This shade of pink paired with with the sleek satin silk ground must look so pretty irl!

Jizozenin (地蔵禅院) is a temple of the Soto sect located on a mountain overlooking the Yamashiro Plain. Next to the bell tower is a weeping cherry tree about 300 years old and about 10 meters high.

That old weeping cherry that I pass on my walk to the woods is in bloom! 🌸🌿🌸

The weather has been pretty crumby lately, with chilly wind and spitting rain for days. Despite this, the weeping cherry tree is about to fully bloom at any moment, and some of its flowers are already opened up. Mudpie braved the wind and rain to see his favorite tree and the very first cherry blossoms of the season. He was shivering when he came back into the house, but he said it was, "Worth it." =)

Dynamic antique spring outfit, pairing colorful shidarezakura (weeping cherry tree) obi, with a fantastic blue kimono with yellow stripes, yabane (arrow fletching) looking like falling rain, over a woven ground of kasumi (mist) and what could be hanakatsumi (a plant of the rice family).

When we first moved in and this splindly weeping cherry sappling was struggling amidst a sea of weeds. Now, it takes pride of place with its abundance of beauty and show, a haven for us and the birds. So beautiful and bountiful ... this tree is happy to be alive and makes me happy in turn.
