eleven is fascinating to me because he came right off the back of tens horrible traumatic breakdown after he lost everything and he immediately tried to establish himself as the opposite of that. he is funny and goofy and almost childlike, and he bulldozes on in his adventures with amy like nothing happened at all. but then something happens and his masks slips and it's like oh! the core of this man is still anger. he is so so angry all of the time and this façade is the only thing stopping him from being consumed by it. he isn't over any of it and he hasn't moved on. he is wearing a fez and laughing but under that all that exists is age old anger and grief and it is going to consume him

#i do think that this pit of anger was eventually covered and soothed by the ponds #but he didn't adress it and he couldn't even look at it until he was twelve #when he stopped pushing back and repressing everything and finally allowed himself to exist as he was #but ok listen #its all layed out in the first 3 episodes of season 5 and in the way amy sees him #episode 1. here is the new doctor he is energetic and reeling and fun #episode 2. the space whale comparison. here is the new doctor. he is unthinkably ancient and almost godlike but he is so so kind #and patient and good. he is ancient and lonely but he can't stand to see children cry. so the doctor helps people #episode 3. daleks. the doctor is a soldier. these are his age old enemies. he wants them dead and he will stop at nothing #all logic and reason vanish. he is hitting the dalek with a pipe and yelling his head off while amy watches in horror #like obviously we know why but amy didnt #this is not a sane or rational man he is unstable and angry #and in that episode he was stripped back to what he largely is: hate #you would make a good dalek ect ect ect #anyway 3 episodes with 3 very distinct and equally definitely traits layed out like: here you go #i don't like elevens era much but those first 3 episodes were great #doctor who #eleven #amy #eleventh doctor #matt smith #dr who #dw #i mean idk this is what river literally had to spell out for him #eleven was careening completely out of control #how long til doctor means warrior indeed?#mine

Whalemack!

He’s a gray/grey whale, very nice and VERY big (though about half the size of a blue whale). He’s been mostly solitary for a while, sometimes joining other whales on their migrations, but then he starts collecting little mer children that make travel hard. I’ll probably add some scars from boats/etc to this design. And we need to figure out if mers have tattoos 🧐

#em draws stuff #henry v 1989 #<- is it even at this point. what the scallop.#le roy d'armes des françois (dit montjoye)#em is posting about temeraire #temeraire worldbuilding collection #my tag-organizing conventions are now working against me. so it goes.#BUT more importantly MY IMAGE. look at them.#settled on a design for honoré that I like better - the shallower profile and wider snoot is a good look on him #he's not a canonical temverse dragon breed but rather one of the line ancestors that will produce the pascal's blue in a couple centuries #as this is set in the early 15th century of temverse I thought it'd be fun to incorporate the changing Varieties of dragons down the years #a few sorts that are still around by the time we get to the 19th century and some that have changed or petered out with time #this is a wildly self-indulgent image... it's very much easier posting something like this when it can kind of go into a Larger Void #but when it comes to this movie and this character well there is not really a larger void to slide such an image into... oh whale!#anyway. look I actually drew a whole dragon and a whole streambed in the same picture. Y'all laugh at the fact that Tartaglia randomly falling into the Abyss one day as a kid ended up being the catalyst for Fontaine's eventual predicted destruction but all this means is that from the start Tartaglia was intended to fall into the Abyss and become a Harbinger and thus has always been doomed by the narrative

Love catching up to a manga only to find I have more chapters to read. Like realizing you made enough food to have leftovers. Bliss.

#the manga is Drifting Dragons #it's got some of the same charm as Dungeon Meshi a la food-as-plot #but has a ton of nuance and back-and-forth about whaling (in this case whales are replaced by dragons) and humanity encroaching on wildlife #as well as super heartening character arcs and a wholesome vibe of found family overall #anyway what a good way to end a very sweaty kind of draining day #goodnight!#alienwords

I saved nearly 340 wishes waiting for Arlecchino over the last few months. I normally have terrible luck and haven't won a 50/50 since my very first 5 star character banner (I've since gotten 12 additional and have lost every 50/50 along the way). Normally I need to wish roughly 160 times to secure the banner specific 5 star.

Anyway, my pity was about 20 and I did my first ten pull on Arlecchino.... she was the first wish, and on a 50/50. I won my 50/50.... with only 10 wishes spent. I literally stood up and began pacing while nearly crying. Thank you genshin. Thank you father 😭😭💕💕💕💕💕

I’ve been keeping my apkallu minion out while fishing recently (because how can I resist handing them fish), and I just realized Chauzey kind of looks like an apkallu with his colour scheme and his ponytail.

I wanted him to have a ponytail initially because he’s partly based off Flygon, my favourite Pokémon, but this works too.
