A crime story? WHY OH WHY?!

Ok Suede, so you've written yet another crime story eh?

Ok, chill.

I can explain.

I actually hate having to explain or justify.

I know that crime is now possibly the biggest-selling genre in books. Or, at least, it has outsold many other genres over the last few years.

The truth is... ever since I was little, I've always been fascinated by crime and mysteries. I really cannot help it. So sorry! (Sorry, I say sorry a lot! lol).

I also have a strong sense of justice and fairness; I've always had it in me. A very strong "do unto others" sense of the world. The good guys have to win over the bad guys. I know it doesn't necessarily happen in real life but, at least in my book, that's how it should be. Or maybe it's simply because I have always been interested in knowing the reason behind why people think, feel and behave in a certain way. I often like to sit and secretly observe human behaviour, pondering over it just trying to figure it out (and probably never really making head or tail of it. Ha!).

So yeah, the psychological aspects underlying crime and criminal behaviour intrigue me a bit (a lot!), too.

Apparently, I am fairly good at reading people - and I truly apologize in advance for this occasional bout of inflamed ego. I get a hunch around them and I happen to be often right. I can sense when someone is lying; even seasoned fibbers don't usually fool me. My intuition tells me something is off, but there's also this pesky voice inside my head whispering things, telling me not to jump to conclusions.

Now... my first book may not be the most action-packed summer novel and the plot may be as dull as a dishwasher manual, who knows. But it's really not my place to say.

My original plan was to write this classic crime/mystery thriller novel, something that would harken back to the greatest whudunit novelists. But as I was writing it - or even, as the story started writing itself - it occurred to me that I was heading in a slightly different direction.

You'll see what I mean when you get to read it...

Oh, sorry. Enough of my blabbering. I'm off now.
