Do you make your bed? yes but only a few hours before i get in. because of course it makes too much sense to take the 20 seconds to do it in the morning. but i like preparing my room before getting into bed. clear floor, bedside table wiped down, lil spritz of perfume on the pillows.

If you could go back to school, would you? university or sixth form? yes for the bants and the nerding. regular school? fuck no.

A job you had that would surprise people? many years ago when dinosaurs walked the earth and people called sex chat lines i was a sex chat line operator. it was the most boring and unsatisfying job i've ever had.

Do you think aliens are real? i believe in parallel universes so by that logic i guess i do.

Can you drive a manual car? for fun lets say yes

What's your guilty pleasure? robbie williams, tiktok, ordering a sundae off uber eats once a month. but no apart from the last one i don't feel guilty about anything i enjoy.

Tattoos? i have four. they are all fandom related. i regret one of them but luckily it's on my upper thigh so i don't really have to look at it much.

Favorite color? pink. every shade of pink. any other colour is inferior. i do not exaggerate when i say everything i own is pink.

Favorite type of music?  i feel about music genres as some kind of all you can eat buffet. <- prev. i'm a genre whore.

Do you like puzzles? the ones where you sit down and put all the bits together? i don't have the attention span or patience. other puzzles though like mysteries, yes.

Any phobias? spiders. and balloons can go fuck themselves. they're so threatening and i hate the way they smell.

Favorite childhood sport? even as a child i was too concerned about my hair to want to participate much. i liked badminton.

Do you talk to yourself? yeah all the time. and not just when i'm alone

What movies do you adore? i'm not a huge movie person but i love brokeback mountain, girl interrupted and the neon demon

Coffee or tea? coffee in the morning, tea at night. i refuse to choose between my children.

First thing you wanted to be when you grew up? a singer. i'm glad my mum told me honestly that i can't sing so i didnt get all deluded and end up being comic relief on a talent show. i still resent that i can't sing though. especially as i was actually pretty good at writing songs.

So I found out why I felt like crap yesterday.

Apparently the new medication I am on has the potential to reduce potassium (and magnesium) electrolytes. What else decreases potassium, so much so it is a treatment for high potassium?

Baking soda.

What causes nausea and headaches in keto flu?

Electrolyte imbalance.

When I felt nauseous and was constipated what did I take to fix it?

Baking soda. And then I drank more baking soda water because I was like "Why isn't this working?"

So yeah, I basically induced a case of severe nausea and mild headache barely helped by excedrin and not helped at all by baking soda. I gave myself the keto flu without the keto.

I also found out this medication can raise blood glucose, so I am going to go out and buy some new strips. I bought a meter when I first started keto because of the popular myth that keto causes low blood glucose and I wanted to see if that was true. I've used it to test the effects of different foods and sugars and it can be very useful. I think too little potassium and an increased glucose load is why I felt so swollen after eating bread and why I definitely shouldn't have had half a Taco Bell burrito for breakfast (oops!). It may raise blood glucose and suppress hunger so well that I can go straight keto and do IF without paying for it too much. We will see.

If I decide to continue Banting like William, I will definitely have to supplement and modify the diet to remove the foods that raise my blood glucose too much. Good news: apparently the medication appears not to interact with alcohol, although those are just general effects; the effects of the medication and alcohol together on blood glucose and electrolytes, as far as I can tell, have not been studied.

I may be swollen today, but I sure feel way better than yesterday!
