Gavin MacLeod: He loves to be in the kitchen. Cooking or baking, it doesn't matter. Growing up he was very food insecure. But now he's able to keep the pantry and fridge fully stocked and by gods he does. Making meals for others is one of the ways he shows appreciation and love. It's literally one of his favourite things to do and he can be very creative with what he puts together.
Dean Winchester: He has been to several comic cons, all of them small with (mostly) minor celebrities. He doesn't dress up but he's gotten selfies with quite a few very talented cosplayers.
Laszlo Cravensworth: Nadja gave him the name Laszlo because "Leslie is no name for a fearsome vampire" and she could lowkey barely pronounce it. He had never been partial to the name Leslie, to be honest, and she was so pretty that he never corrected her.
Bootstrap Bill Turner: He had a childhood dog named Bone who was really just a stray he fed scraps as a kid. The dog was a skinny mutt and in his 6 year old genius Bootstrap decided to name him Bone.

I'm thinking about that moment in Tortuga where James says to Joshamee "So, do I make your crew or not? You haven't said where you're going. SOMEWHERE NICE?!". Yeah, I know he is irritated, bitter, sarcastic, unhappy and 100% a mess after losing his job and everything he had. But...
He is also drunk. Very drunk. And very... alone. What if alcohol makes him more open? What if James' question is, yes, bitter but... also sincere? What if the bitterness is in that moment caused by the bigger pain? What if frustration is caused by jealousy and loneliness?
Yes, I think that James may be jealous (but not in negative way) and damn lonely. Just look at his life portrayed in both: The Curse of the Black Pearl and Sins of the father (cause this book adds so much to James' bio).
His father was like "Pirates are the worst and you have to be anti pirate. If you are anti pirate then you are a cool kid". His society is like "We are noble, we are right, we have money, we serve the king, we obey the rules, we are cool". So James serves and obeys, he (unlike Lizzie) lets society to completely devour him, he has his career and place amongst the people but... not really.
Father abused and didn't really care about him. People respect him mostly as an officer and "fine gentleman". We see no friends around him. Gillette, Groves? Their relationship with James is shown as rather professional. Lizzie? At the beginning of the first movie they don't have any bond with each other. There is mutual respect and kindness but there's no friendship yet. Papa Swann? He is kind to James, sure. But James seems to still feel alone. He looks terribly lonely (shout out to amazing Jack Davenport). In so many scenes we see him standing in Dramatic Pose and looking at other people with these Sad Sad Eyes.
We see him working and working and working. Serving and obeying. Being many people's dog. Still feeling like "not enough" to some of them. Even his love for the sea (and him being a sailor) is somewhere in the background.
And then there is his proposal. He sees that Lizzie is very nervous but instead of "she doesn't like me in romantic way" he seems to have some hope that she will say yes and that he will finally have someone to love (and who will love him back - maybe). But soon he loses that hope. Lizzie falls, he meets Jack again, Will pops up too, pirates now are everywhere...
And what do James' eyes see? Jack isn't like those pirates from Norrington Sr.'s horror tales. Jack isn't evil. Jack has good manners. Jack is clever. Jack has his charm - and it works even on anti pirate people! (Groves and his "Best pirate I have ever seen OMG", Murtogg and Mullroy and their "Why won't we listen to Captain's advice and..."). Oh, for sure he has it. Joshamee Gibbs, a decent person and once a Navy's man joined his crew! And mr Gibbs seems to be happy with his new life. William Turner, the biggest cinnamon roll in the town - he met Sparrow and five minutes later they're best friends forever! And they have fun together. They have adventures together. They do friendly things for each other (Will defends Jack, he is ready to die for and with him!!!). Elizabeth Swann, the sweetest and wisest girl James has ever met, she... she is Jack's friend too! And she loves Will (a pirate!), she's going to marry Will! She is amongst pirates. She seems to be safe and happy with them. Papa Swann, even Papa Swann is now like "Err... I love Lizzie and Lizzie loves Will so I should love Will too, I guess. By the way, James, you can try to hunt Jack Sparrow and his pirates but Lizzie won't be happy, just saying".
Jack, Joshamee and their crew, Lizzie, Will... They all have now what James never had and what he still secretly wants (oh, I bet!). They have each other. They have friendship. They have love. They go where they want and do what their hearts want. They have freedom.
They are like found family having adventures, seeing places and sometimes being heroes to other people (being heroes without being someone's dogs). Being there for each other. Even when they lose something, they still have each other. They are brave in a way James can't be (oh, not yet). Strong, full of hope and so free. Always so free. Always so ready to fight.
They have it all. James at the end of COTBP has only his job and, still, his bitterness for pirates (so as always, nothing nice). James at the beginning of DMC has nothing. He lost ships, he lost career, he lost home and he's alone.
James' father and his society always were like "Pirates are outsiders, you are with us so you're a cool kid". But what if... when James looks at Lizzie, Will, Jack & Co, he thinks "No! THEY are cool kids and I feel like an outsider"? What if such thought hits him hard when he sees Jack's crew in that tavern? When he sees them again, after all what happened to him (and because of them). He sees them and they are like always: together, okay with their life no matter what, so damn strong and prepared for the future. They lose - they try again - they win. He always loses. He's always alone. What if that damn hurricane was a sign?
What if, when he sees them doing their things and when he's so alone and lost and so drunk... what if something inside him finally breaks?
And what if he joins them not only because of Lizzie wanting to help him and finally being his friend but first and foremost because he finally can do what he wants? He's free now (from his duties, from his father's ghost, from his society). He doesn't have to hunt pirates. Maybe he doesn't have to be so salty... He's lost. And he wants to belong. What if he can belong to their pirate pack? Oh, alcohol makes him very open.
So, do I make your crew or not? You haven't said where you're going. Somewhere nice?!
Somewhere nice would be great. Right, Jamie? You crave for nice things in your life. Being part of the pack would be nice, right?
James: Do I belong or NOT?! 😭
(but oh, soon he is sober and he looks like an outsider again, he watches Lizzie interacting with her pirates and looks like "How do they do all that friendship stuff? And... sea turtles? What sea turtles?! What are they talking about? They're so... I can't. I don't belong, I'm afraid. I'd better go back to previous life and..." 😢)

I wrote about Ted Mercer back in 2012 -- eleven years ago.
He was the 1951 Vintage dedicatee. Over the years that's always a tell. If they dedicate a Vintage to you, you'll be on the way out. It's a love bomb. Watch for them to dedicate the 2023 Vintage to Steve Pettit.
The first time I heard about Mercer was ~1993 when I was listening to my first graduate audition in the Division of Speech. A young man from Bryan College was applying for a graduate assistantship. And one of the senior, hoary-headed members of our faculty said to us all (something like), “Are we sure we should let him in? He is, after all, from Bryan.” Her words were pregnant with a mysterious and sinister meaning.
That was Dottie Harris.
Now I was the youngest faculty member in this group. And . . . I’m a little bit clueless as I’ve said before. So, in typical fashion, I just asked earnestly, “What do you mean? What’s wrong with Bryan?” Another less-junior-than-I colleague -- it was Lonnie Polson -- nodded and agreed, “Yeah, I’d like to know too! I have no idea.” And the senior member just sighed and shook her head, disappointed with these children these days about how they know nothing of the past. . . . I think. I don’t know why she was sighing. But I never heard the details that day.
Mercer graduated from BJU in 1943 -- president of the Senior Class. Immediately BJC made him the Dean of Men, and soon after he was the "Assistant to the President" through 1953.
But then it all fell apart. Something happened to piss off Bob Sr. so badly that he raged at Mercer -- raged so loudly that it's still in Dan Turner's official history. To explain his side, Mercer sent this “Statement Concerning my Dismissal from Bob Jones University” to BJU Board of Trustees after his firing on June 15, 1953.
Tumblr media
If you’ve ever found yourself on the other side of a BJU administrator’s desk feeling the ax hovering above your neck, the statement reads eerily prophetic.
The litany of accusations against him are mostly familiar. We’ve all been called the same whether in front of or behind our backs — “avowed enemy of the school,” unfaithful, inefficient, deceitful, “one of the greatest crooks in the history of the school,” demon-possessed, “the devil.” Mercer euphemizes the most intense accusation of homosexuality under the term “my moral character” — an accusation that still lingers.
You’ll want to look at the list of BJU Board Members near the end. It’s at the very least intriguing. There’s Homer Rodeheaver and Jack Wyrtzen. There’s Mordecai Ham and Ernest Reveal. And you see some familiar fathers there. Look. There’s Ted Mercer’s dad, Jim. And John MacArthur, Sr. (father of the John MacArthur, Jr.). and William Piper (father of John Piper).
BJU apparently was undergoing an enormous faculty turnover in the 1952-53 school year — a movement that would only continue into the years to come. Mercer includes one letter of resignation in the end of his pamphlet from Karl E. Keefer. We who have been associated with BJU since 1952 don’t know Dr. Keefer. We do know his replacement very well — a 24-year-old Dwight Gustafson.
Then there's an additional statement to the Alumni. Read it. Notice Mercer’s description of faculty salaries and treatment, the Joneses’ attitude toward accreditation, their capricious and egocentric rule, their tendency for hyperbole, and their habit of playing good-cop-bad-cop with the younger Jones vs. the elder Jones.
Just change the dates and the people or the suffix on the end of the administrator’s name.
Nothing has changed at BJU.
If you're surprised at the John Lewis & Bob Jones III behavior, you haven't been paying attention. This is really old news.

Moses McKissack III (May 8, 1879 – December 12, 1952) was an architect. He had his architecture firm McKissack Company (1905-22) and was active in Tennessee and Alabama. In a partnership with his brother Calvin Lunsford McKissack, they founded the architecture firm McKissack & McKissack in 1922.
He was born in Pulaski, Tennessee. He had six brothers. His father Gabriel Moses McKissack II was a carpenter and builder, and his mother was Dolly Ann (née Maxwell).
He apprenticed in construction drawings for 5 years. He attended classes at Springfield College and obtained architectural degrees through a correspondence course.
He built houses in Decatur, Alabama; Mount Pleasant, Tennessee; and Columbia, Tennessee. His first document client was Granberry Jackson Sr., the Dean of Architecture and Engineering at Vanderbilt University. He designed many other residences for faculty at Vanderbilt University. The firm’s first major project was the design of the Fisk University Carnegie Library. Its cornerstone was laid in 1908 by William Howard Taft. Major projects designed by him included the main campus building for the Turner Normal and Industrial School for Negroes, dormitories for Roger Williams University, and Lane College.
He married Miranda P. Winter (1912) together they had six sons.
The McKissack brothers became two of the first registered architects in the state.
President Franklin D. Roosevelt appointed him to the White House Conference on Housing Problems. They received a large federal government contract to build and design the 99th Pursuit Squadron (Tuskegee Airmen) Air Base. The Air Base contract was the largest federal contract ever awarded to an African American company. The brothers were each awarded the Spaulding Medal by the National Negro Business League.
The McKissack family helped build the city of Nashville, The McKissack Park neighborhood, the McKissack Park, and McKissack Middle School. Several McKissack buildings are listed on the National Register of Historic Places by the US National Park Service. #africanhistory365 #africanexcellence #alphaphialpha

WILLIAM “BOOTSTRAP BILL” TURNER, SR. canon
“Bootstrap Bill” once served aboard the crew of Captain Jack Sparrow. When he tried to stop a mutiny, he was tied to a cannon and fired into the water. However, due to a curse that had been placed upon the crew, they had all been damned to be undead. When the Flying Dutchman, captained by the vicious Davy Jones, found Bill, he immediately took Jones’ offer to serve. He is slowly merging with the ship, just like the rest of the monstrous crew. Mainly he is just trying to quietly survive until he becomes a part of the ship, or finds a way out.

LO STUPORE, IL TERRORE
I greci lo definivano "Zauma" (θαῦμα, thaûma). Nel XVIII secolo era il "sublime romantico" di Kant. E' percezione della natura immane. Consapevolezza angosciosa del limite umano. Sottile, intensa, timorosa attrazione. Così, nacque il Mito. E poi, la Filosofia.
Joseph Mallord William Turner (1775-1851): "Ombra e tenebre, la sera del Diluvio", 1843, Tate Britain, Londra

All You Need to Know About Matchups!
CLICK HERE TO VIEW THE WAITLIST
Hi y'all!
This account is solely for matchups for several different fandoms. That means requests for imagines, oneshots, headcanons, etc. will NOT be taken.
Here are some basic things to know about requesting a matchup!
Unless otherwise specified for a certain fandom, a request yields one romantic pairing AND one friendship pairing as well as information on why I think you work well with the individuals I choose. Of course, if you only wish to receive either just the romantic matchup or just the friendship matchup, just let me know!
You can request matchups for several different fandoms at once! For each fandom you request, I will match you up with one romantic partner and one friend unless you request differently.
You can ask to exclude any character(s)!
Where can I request a matchup?
Requests can be made in the MATCHUP REQUESTS/ASK ME ANYTHING tab.
What do I need to include in my request?
Required
Fandom(s)
Your gender and/or pronouns
Your sexual orientation and/or preferences
Description of personality
Optional (but definitely helps me out!)
Description of appearance
Hobbies
Personality alignment (Myers-Briggs, Enneagram, Hogwarts House, etc.)
What you would look for in a partner and/or friend
Any other information you think would be helpful – the more you provide, the more I can work with!
Now with that out of the way, onto the fandoms!
Listed directly below is a shortlist of all the fandoms I take requests for as well as some extra information as needed.
Disclaimers
If a title is in italics, it means that while I feel comfortable providing matchups for this show, I have not watched every season. If a character drastically changes after a certain point, I may not be aware. The last season I watched of these shows will be included in parentheses.
All movies/shows based on novels will most likely focus on the on-screen adaptations of characters.

Hello! I was going through your tags for more info on YZY, and I noticed that you made a clear distinction between titles and monikers, such as Hanguang-jun and Zizhizhu (Violet Spider). If you don’t mind, could you please elaborate on how Violet Spider as a moniker for YZY is different from Hanguang-Jun as a title for LWJ? I googled it but didn’t get anywhere. Thank you so much!
It’s the difference between:
Title: Duke of Hastings (Simon Basset, Bridgerton)
and
Moniker: Bootstrap Bill (William Turner Sr, Pirates of the Caribbean)

Diana Cole Harris, 90, of Avondale Estates, passed away Thursday afternoon, June 22, 2023, with her son by her side.
Diana was born June 1, 1933 in Anderson County, SC to the late Paul W. Cole Sr. and Susie L. Cole. She graduated from Hartwell High School in 1950, and then attended Bob Jones University. Following her studies at Bob Jones, she became a dental assistant working in Hartwell, GA before moving to Atlanta, GA and continuing to work in that field. While living in Midtown, she attended First Baptist Church of Atlanta where she met her future husband, Charles W. Harris. They married in June 1960 and were together 47 years until Charles's passing in 2007. Upon the arrival of their first child, Diana dedicated her time and focus on her family and raising her children. Diana and Charles settled into their first and only home in a small subdivision just outside of Avondale Estates, GA where Diana enjoyed tending her vegetable garden and flowers. Diana always had a heart for all of the children in the neighborhood, constantly looking for ways to bless them and ensure they had a safe place to play. Diana was a dedicated member of her local church where she faithfully attended until physically unable to do so.
Diana was preceded in death by her daughter Teresa, husband Charles and brothers Billy Cole, Pruitt Cole and Paul W. Cole Jr.
Diana is survived by her son, William P. Harris of Avondale Estates, GA, and his family - wife Sharon and daughter Carissa. Survivors also include one brother, Terry Cole of Elberton, GA, and many nieces and nephews.
There will be a funeral service at 11 am on June 28,2023 at A.S. Turner Funeral Home.
A visitation will start an hour prior. The interment will be private.
Flowers optional. Memorials may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation
