some info i’ve found during research for anyone that’s writing a fic or story where a character is a runway model:

oftentimes their runway shoes aren’t the right size. i’ve heard that they are too big most of the time. this is because the designers will have limited options for sizing.

additionally about the shoes: the stylists will “score” the soles of the shoes, meaning they use something sharp to make slashes on the bottom to make the shoes grip to the floor better to help prevent the model from slipping!

models *sometimes* are given care packages where they arrive that includes things like deodorant, razors, and combs.

they are also *sometimes* given gift bags depending on the show.

models often walk multiple shows a day, especially if it’s fashion week, and models are known to take naps while getting their hair and makeup done.

models can get interviewed before shows

opening and closing shows as a model is a BIG DEAL! it is a high achievement to open and/or close shows.

there are rehearsals for shows. the models should not surprised by what’s going on during the actual event.

there are also casting auditions (if you’re not named talent.)

models often have to arrive early in the morning (5-7am) to get ready for a show, even if the show is later in the day.

sometimes models aren’t paid with money (boo!) and instead are allowed to take some of the clothes with them.

also they sometimes don’t get paid AT ALL or get paid very little. walking shows for “exposure” is a big thing in the industry unfortunately. unless they’re name talent, most models are not rich.

models that aren’t named talent often do multiple auditions a day. this number can be up to 10-20.

the average shows a model walks in a season is about 20-30.

the average number of models in a show is 20-40.

the key seasons for modeling are: spring/summer from january to june, and fall/winter from july to december.

the modeling industry does not have a union, but there are efforts being made!

do you feel like there is always a fashion week? it’s because there are fashion week events for essentially every country! but the “big four” are: paris fashion week, milan fashion week, new york fashion week, and london fashion week. these schedules for specific seasons and events can be found easily online.

on the topic of fashion week: extremely stressful. models are running from event to event for the entire week. it’s not as glamorous as you’d think.

some agencies set up “model houses” in cities that host fashion weeks for models from other countries or states. these houses have multiple models living in them, sort of like a dorm? but they have to pay rent.

yes, drug use is a big problem in the modeling industry. cocaine gets mentioned a lot.

spending christmas in new york was a new experience that shuri never knew she would enjoy. the beautiful decorations, activities, and carolers were a joyous sight to witness during this cozy winter season.

originally, shuri had planned to stay in again this year, but you refused to spend another christmas of being stuck in the palace. so you online ordered three plane tickets to midtown manhattan, new york, and giddily packed your bags for your mini vacation.

after all, it was your idea to visit the states for christmas, just for shuri to unwind from her royal duties and riri to take a break from her ironheart suit as well.

with the major help of your other wife, riri, persuading shuri multiple times to explore the world outside of wakanda. reluctantly, she agreed and traveled alongside her family, although not fathoming why her two wives were so eager to insist on a visit to the americas.

so once your wives settled yourselves in the hotel, you all headed out to rockefeller center. it was the world’s most famous ice-skating rink, and you definitely couldn’t ought to miss out on the memorable experience.

“where are we?” shuri was quick with the question, her eyes surveying the cheerful crowd of people skating across the ice.

riri answered the question. “only at the most famous ice skating rink in the world.”

shuri observed the people who were making overlapping noise chatter while skating across the rink, buying edibles and hot chocolate at food stands.

tugging her hand while riri tugged onto shuri’s other hand as you dragged them both to the booth, cubbyholes filled with ice skates.

the worker greeted the trio with a small smile as you handed him the money in return for three pairs of ice skates.

“i don’t think that this is safe.” she finally noticed the thin blade at the bottom of the skates after putting them on her feet.

“relax, i know what i’m doing, sweetie, my mom taught me.”

by the time you finished talking, you were at the opening, mere feet away from the actual ice ground.

“eh, zithandwa zam. do you have on your kimoyo beads? just in case either of you happens to slip and get a pretty bad concussion.” you were the first to enter on the ice and riri joined you.

“when do you ever allow us to take it off?” riri playfully rolls her eyes at her wife and held out a hand in reassurance. “come on, baby, stop being so damn cautious and join your loving wives on the skating rink.”

a hesitant sigh blew past shuri’s lips as she stretches her hands out, feeling slightly at ease when her wives interlocked her hands with theirs.

“ready whenever you are.” you lightly soothed your queen with a warm smile.

she can do this.

besides, it was just ice.

just ice that can give you a horrible concussion and crucial bruises…but she mustn’t dwell on the negative outcomes and instead let loose with her two favorite girls.

her grip tightened on both of you, “just promise to not let me go.”

“we promise, baby.” riri agrees with a firm head nod.

with a shaky exhale, she pushed herself onto the icy ground and immediately lost balance but riri’s reflexes were quick, catching her by her lower back. “see we got you, sweetie.”

after a few minutes of recollecting herself, she regained her balance, which was still shaky, but eventually, she managed her balance being steady as a rock.

“there you go, baby!” you cheered at shuri who became flustered at the appreciation, “we knew you could do it.”

balancing on the ice was out of the way. now it was the moving around part, that certainly bothered her to an extent. you and riri noticed her worried glance at the ice, clearly looking skeptical as if it would harm her, which it could, but not on riri’s watch.

“baby steps…” riri cooed, caressing shuri’s clothed left arm in comfort, “baby steps is how we’re gonna get through this.”

“we’re not gonna let you fall, darling.”

instantly her glazed eyes meet yours, “promise.”

instead of safely reassuring her, panic took over your features, in realization that tears were leaking out of her eyes. “oh baby, what’s wrong?”

“it’s just that….everything that happened to wakanda and my mama’s death and stress overloading upon my arrival as queen…” she stutters, her bottom lip quivering in sadness as she opted to continue, “it’s just been too much…and i can’t handle all of it,” she cried.

ever since she was announced queen, her duties weren’t always easy and often gave her no time to relax. mainly, she had to postpone many dates and pulled many all-nighters, there were even times when she would miss out on dinner.

sharing a glance with the williams girl, you both decided to remove her from the ice and rest your feet. slowly but surely, you manage to get the hysterical queen away from the ice and seated on the nearby bleachers.

“oh shuri, we had no idea that you were under all that stress.” you gently wiped her tears away, making her heart flutter at your tenderness, which was one of the many reasons why she fell in love with you.

she hiccuped, “i don’t know how my mother and brother accomplished it all…it’s just maybe i’m not fit to be queen.”

“that’s not true.” your tone was sincere and riri ran her fingers through shuri’s curly mohawk, more of her style of comfort. you hated when your girls second-guess themselves daily and you were always there to uplift their spirits. “you are fit to be queen, no matter what you say, your mother and brother are happy and by your side, in every decision, you make for your country.”

shuri grunted, ultimately disagreeing with your statement. “if that was true, then how come i feel like i’m doing everything wrong? not being a good enough queen for my people, overworking my scientists nor being a good wife and how am i going be a good mother to our upcoming child?”

although she was the head royal, she still was a part-time scientist and had to update and create new technologies. so with the help of riri, she managed to get things done faster in the lab and hit the hay more frequently.

even though you weren’t that academically smart in science, you still thrived in being helpful to your two hardworking wives by bringing them food and sometimes accommodating them in your area of knowledge.

“…how?” your voice breaks out in a tiny octave. “how…did you find out?”

you were positive that you hid that secret away from them.

before shuri could respond, riri’s brazen tone interrupted her, “wait, so it’s true?” her face was appalled, to say the least, “this better be a joke ‘cause we ain’t ready for no goddamn baby, we haven’t each reached that stage of life yet.”

you reminded her. “riri, we’ve been married for 5 years.”

“i found the pregnancy test in the garbage.” shuri hoarsely replied. “right before we left for the plane.”

“well, when the baby arrives, you’re going to be a good mother.” your gaze averts to riri’s speechless face, “both of you are going to be good parents.”

neither of your wives replied, still contemplating on what to say. what could they even say? with shuri ruling the kingdom and riri working on her ironheart suit, it was already stressful enough, so adding a baby to the mix was going to be a total disaster.

if it wasn’t for their limited free time, it would have been their double life, referring to the black panther and ironheart.

after calming themselves down from this newfound revelation, you bought three hot chocolates with their favorite toppings.

“merry christmas.” you grinned.

they beamed right back at you. “merry christmas.”

after you downed your hot drinks, you discarded them in the nearby bin. suddenly a loud voice echoed across the entire rink. “good night, ladies and gentlemen, please be attentive as we do our annual fireworks.”

automatically your heads avert to the gloomy night sky which glimmered in tiny dozen stars, anxiously awaiting for the fireworks to display.

the crowd was eerily quiet before the fireworks lit up the night sky, tiny colorful explosions dispersing into sparks as they fade away. there were too many to count, but all of them went off simultaneously so it truly was a magical sight and people clamored in astonishment.

just then, you felt something wet touch your nose before another and another until many falling down.

“look, mommy, it’s snowing.” a young girl beside you shouted, trying to catch a pile of snow in her hands.

“i love you girls so much so thank you, really.” she clarified with a vibrant smile, “this is the best christmas that i could have asked for.”

“aww…no problem…” riri feigned, “now don’t get all sappy and shit on us, leave that for [name] for when she’s actually showing, we don’t need two crybabies in the palace.”

“hey!” you defended your unborn child, subconsciously rubbing your belly.

“i’m kidding! kidding, of course.” riri held up her hands in surrender, “i’ll be there when needed, crybaby or not.”

squinting her eyes mildly at riri at the false accusation. “don’t pretend that you don’t love it, umfazi wam endimthandayo.” she gives riri a quick kiss, who whines in frustration for receiving such a short peck.

shuri’s cocky smirk came into play. “maybe that’ll teach you a lesson.”

to add more fire to the flame, shuri resolved it by kissing you longer and making it very demonstrative. riri was the most dramatic woman in the relationship, stating that a cute pout rested upon her lips while her arms are safely tucked together.

shuri stretches her arm over your shoulder while riri was a mere foot away, slightly annoyed at her wife’s antics. eventually, shuri couldn’t contain a smile as she looked down at you, giving her a knowing look. bumping her side with riri, who moves slightly and smiles almost instantly as she snuggled closer into shuri’s side, engulfed by her warm embrace.

shuri was right. this was the best christmas ever and by next year christmas, you’ll be celebrating it with a new addition to your loving family. christmas miracles really do come true, don’t they?

“good news,” JINHO begins by telling them the positive results to the color photoshoot. “everyone’s magazines did quite well — probably some of the highest sales in magazines within the first half of 2024!”

INYOUNG added, “minimum was around 9,000 sales from what we’ve heard from the staff members so all of the models involved in the photoshoot should congratulate themselves for your hard work and creative ideas.” she paused to look at the other two male managers before the models in front of her. “the higher ups are still finalizing how they’re going to reward you for that, but personally i’d say take this time to enjoy some exciting gigs that will be coming your way.”

“as for HYUNHEE, JISOO, SEUNGHYUN, and JIAH, all of you were offered modeling contracts! the brands that have chosen you gave me the contracts along with pertinent information about what you will be doing for their upcoming campaigns.” JINHO smiled as he handed each of them the contracts and additional papers containing their schedules.

HAN HYUNEE ( BRAND: KIRSH / ENDORSEMENT ): HYUNHEE will get a chance to collaborate with the brand to help pitch and design a sweatshirt, hoodie, and t-shirt for the fall/winter campaign. once the brand approves of the concept and ideas, HYUNHEE will model the clothes and they will be featured in KIRSH’s website starting in Q4.

HAN JISOO ( BRAND: KANU / ENDORSEMENT ): JISOO will get to pick some of his favorite products from the brand to create a ‘XANDER SET’, which will be considered a limited edition set. he’ll also be allowed to pitch in some ideas on the design and packaging of the set. once the brand approves of the concept and ideas, JISOO will model the set and even help create a recipe using the KANU products. the package set will be available online starting in Q4.

HAN SEUNGHYUN ( BRAND: KIEHL’S / CF ): SEUNGHYUN will film the cf and participate in the photoshoot for the upcoming KIEHL’S collection. by the end of the photoshoot, he’ll be filming an interview for KIEHL’s social media accounts to talk about some of his favorite products and what he would recommend for new customers who want to try out the brand. then sometime around Q4, SEUNGHYUN will be attending KIEHL’s brand event showcasing the products he modeled for.

MOON JIAH ( BRAND: INNISFREE / CF ): JIAH will film the cf and participate in the photoshoot for the upcoming INNISFREE collection. after the photoshoot is done, she’ll be filming a ‘get ready with me’ vlog video where she’ll explain which INNISFREE products she uses and her favorites. then sometime around Q4, JIAH will be attending INNISFREE’s brand event showcasing the products she modeled for.

most of the process stated above will be done throughout Q3, whenever the MODELS have free time. the modeling contracts tab will be updated at a later time to include the gigs mentioned above and these contracts will last until the end of Q1.

ACTION SCHOOL & PROJECT SD INFO

JINHO told them, “for all of the models, you are invited to join the ACTORS in attending SEOUL ACTION SCHOOL, where they teach acting and action training. while JINSEO, JINYOUNG, and SANGHYUN are busy with their schedules in the next few months, everyone else is encouraged to audition for PROJECT SD, which i heard is a historical theatrical play.”

if a muse chooses to audition for PROJECT SD and/or attend the workshops, they will be taking the following classes: ‘stage combat’ ( specifically martial arts, sword play, archery ), ‘korean language in sageuk’ ( learning the language and diction used in sageuks ), and ‘improvisation’. while the number of classes they will be taking is less than the other project, more time will be spent on those classes. for JINSEO, JINYOUNG, and SANGHYUN they will only be taking some of those class sessions and not all due to schedules.

in terms of point requirements, to audition for this project the model must have AT LEAST 75 KOREAN and 60 ACTING before the writing requirements deadline.

sometime around SEPTEMBER, the muse will be invited to audition in front of THREE staff members, with one of them being casting director, GEUM SUNG CHUL. for this audition, there will be two parts. the first one will be an improvisation scene with the muse being a member of the ROYAL FAMILY and saying a monologue that would be given to their subordinates ( while it is not known ic, ooc wise this is to assess the muse’s improvisation skills along with their strengths and weaknesses in the korean language ). the second part will be another improvisation scene, this time with a stunt coordinator who will act as the opponent who wants to overtake the kingdom owned by the muse’s family. in the second part, they will be asked to act out a simple fighting scene using martial arts.

LGC MODELS’ CITY GUIDE TOUR

INYOUNG told them the next opportunity in their schedule. “this will be a short-term gig, but we’ve received a gig offer from VOGUE PARIS where all of you will act as SEOUL tour guides for the international fans.”

each pair will decide 2 day/morning activities or events and 2 night activities or events that a foreign visitor could do based on the neighborhood assigned to them and visit those places/attend the event. you could do it in that one muse picks 2 day/morning activities/events and the other muse picks 2 night activities/events, but whatever way works as long AT LEAST 2 activities/events are mentioned in the threads.

Daredevil/Matt Murdock x southern reader pt2? 18+

Had to write this as soon as I came up with it. This one may be a bit of a slow burn but I feel like Matt would do things a bit slower. I just love the idea of him leaning into his other senses when being intimate and focusing on giving the most pleasurable experience possible.

18+ Under the cut

Winter in New York was not your friend. The first week or so was fine but it soon grew tiresome for you. The thick blanket of snow left on your apartment steps was a constant struggle as well as the ice it often left behind if you didn't clean it in time. You had almost wiped out several times walking up or down them. Matt's apartment building didn't have that problem as his building's staff kept on top of it during winter so that he wouldn't be hurt while leaving. The sandpaper grips on the steps also helped.

It was late and you had decided to surprise Matt with an early Christmas gift. The small box was tucked under your arm as you walked into the elevator. As it lifted you up to his floor you grew excited to see how he would react to the present. With a pep in your step you walked to his door and knocked. You could hear him yell to you from inside so you waited patiently. "Who is it?" "It's me Matt!" With that you heard the lock on his door unlatch and you were greeted by his bright smile. That smile always managed to make your heart flutter. He closed the door after you walked inside and you turned to greet him only to be left speechless. He didn't have a shirt on, and his dark grey sweats were hanging low on his hips displaying the prominent v to his abdomen. He was still wearing his glasses for some reason, perhaps he just forgot them?

You hadn't really seen him shirtless yet, and you were so used to the suits and dress shirts and occasionally casual clothes. You hadn't imagined he'd be this well built. His voice brought you out of your gawking. "You didn't greet me like you usually do is something wrong?" He sounded a bit worried at your silence. "OH no it's nothing just got distracted for a sec. I got you an early Christmas gift!" He looks a bit surprised but holds his hands out for you. You place the box in his hands and he feels it for a second before experimentally shaking it. Not much sound comes from the box but he gives you an excited smile and starts to rip off the wrapping paper. He pulls the lid off and takes out its contents feeling them carefully. A pair of soft wool socks with black red and grey stripes is the first thing he pulls out. He usually wore an old pair of socks around his apartment or none at all so you wanted to get a warm new pair for him. The next item was a new pair of fingerless gloves with the ends able to cover his fingers if he wanted to. It was just a plain black pair but you thought he'd like using them while it was still cold out. Sure he did have gloves but none were fingerless.

The last item was a Keychain you had found online. It was a simple rectangle of metal but it had braille on it. You had gotten it custom for him. He felt the bumps on the cool surface and smiled. "Justice and faith?" "I couldn't think of anything else so I chose two parts of you. You're a lawyer and you're catholic." "Well thank you baby." He pulls you in for a hug and you relax into him. "By the way how are you not cold?" He snorts in amusement. "I'm used to it. Lived in New York all my life after all." You nuzzel into his neck and feel his body radiating heat. "How about we sit on the couch and you can snuggle into me more?" You hum and let go walking to the couch with him. He plops down and you take off your heavy coat tossing it on the chair. Your boots are shucked off under the coffee table and you straddle his lap. You're about to lay on him when you take in his figure under you. In the dim light you can just barely make out the scars on his skin. That's surprising to you but you choose to ignore that for now. You drag your hand down his chest to his well defined abs. When you look up his expression makes you squeek. There's a dangerous grin on his face and you feel heat creep across your cheeks.

"By all means don't stop on my account." You trace the lines of muscle down his abdomen making the skin quiver under your fingers. He lets out a shaky breath at your touch and you lean down pressing your chest into his. You feel his hands grip your hips as you slip off his shades. His green eye's shift from side to side as he feels up your back. You caress his jaw and guide him to kiss you giving his plump lips a few languid pecks. He suddenly moves so his back is against the back of the couch with you still on top of him. Gripping your thighs he pulls you further into him centering your now twitching core over his crotch. His hand moves to your jaw and he pulls you in for another longer kiss. Your arms wrap around his neck and your fingers tangle in his short brown locks as the kiss grows heated.

He can feel and hear everything. The moment you paused in greeting him he heard your heartrate quicken and the slight nervous tone in your voice. And when you sat on him and paused again he could feel your core twitching on him. He absolutely grinned when he felt your hands roam over him and heard your heartrate quicken again. That little squeak when you looked at his expression was adorable and at this point he wanted to hear more. He hadn't often been this intimate with you as he was either too busy with work or you just weren't in the mood for anything more than some slow kissing. Now sure he thoroughly enjoyed whatever you wanted to do with him but this time felt different. He wanted you badly and it seemed you may be in the same mood. His own heart starts to beat quicker and soon he turns his attention to your neck.

He pulls away only to kiss your neck. You tilt your head for him and squeak when you feel him nip your throat. You jump but just as quickly relax back into him. His tongue licks across your skin and you shiver. A whimper escapes your throat when he licks over your adams apple. He kisses down to your collar bone but the collar of your shirt gets in his way. His fingers find the hem and pull it up and over your head tossing it to the floor. With the offending clothing out of his way he kisses over your chest. With the need for a bit of pressure growing every second you wriggle your hips into him. He groans in your ear at the friction and grips your hips tight. But suddenly he freezes as though he's realized something. "Hold on a second baby." He nudges you to get off him and he practically runs into the other room. It surprises you that he doesn't run into anything and he just as quickly runs back to you. A small square packet is between his pointer and thumb. He gives you a cheeky grin as he sits back down. With the packet hanging from his teeth he pulls you back onto his lap. Now that he's closer you can read the packet. Your face blooms red at the realization of what it is. You stand for a moment to pull down your pants and underwear while he does the same. When you look back up at him he's slipping on the condom. He's a good size and you can only think of how he'll feel opening you up.

You straddle him but stay on your knees hovering over him. You can feel your juices threatening to drip on him as you kiss him again. He moans as you take your turn kissing his neck. His hips suddenly buck upwards nudging your petals. You can feel a bit of your juices connect with his tip and pull away in a thin clear strand. The sensation is a bit strange but you continue your previous ministrations. Eventually you can't help yourself and you slowly lower down. His tip aided by your slick splits your folds open instantly. With one hand you rub him between your folds covering the condom in your slick. You lean your forehead against his and line him up with your entrance. Gently you push down and his tip slips inside making you shiver. His hands grip the couch cushions as he tries his hardest not to thrust up into you. You moan and whimper as he stretches you. He hisses and groans as you lower even further onto him. When you're fully seated on him he lets out a breath he didn't know he was holding. You both catch your breath for a moment before you feel him move his hips.

In this position he can't quite seem to get enough leverage or room to thrust into you so surprising you with his strength he stands up holding you. He walks to the kitchen counter and takes a towel from the drawer laying it on the counter. He lifts you up just enough to set you on the towel his hips still flush with yours. With the new position he leans over you hands on either side of you. He pulls out and plunges back in one time making you moan. He grins down at you liking the reaction he received. He starts a slow pace and you bury your face in his neck as you mewl and moan for him. Soon he quickens his pace and his own moans make you twitch around him. You call his name earning a growl from deep in his chest. The sound makes you squeeze around him and a choked sound from him follows. His thrusts get sharper and he let's grunts and growls flow from his lips. He suddenly slips both of your legs into the crooks of his elbows. The move basically folding you in half with his hands moving behind your back and locking on your shoulders. In a sudden show of pure strength he lifts you up in that position and thrusts into you harder. He snorts with the exertion and all you can do is try to bear the extreme pleasure he's giving you.

You feel the coil in you tighten as you quickly get closer to the edge. He can feel you getting closer and he continues his pace chasing your release. "C'mon baby let go." He kisses you as your coil snaps your juices cover his crotch but he could care less as he chases his own high. Just a few seconds after you he releases, pumping the condom full. He let's out a strangled growl at the intense feeling. After a few seconds he let's you wrap your legs around his waist again and sets you back on the towel. He leans on his elbows panting heavily. You're both drained of energy but after a minute he lifts you back up and takes you to his bedroom. After he cleans you both up with a wet washcloth he snuggles into bed next to you. You roll on top of him and get comfortable with your ear over his heart. "Love you Matt." "Love you too y/n." You both drift off to sleep in each other's arms.

Why did draxum let donnie (or galois now oh no) keep the mask? The only thing thats changed is the color but he still keeps the iconic brows and all that. Is it for comfort? Does draxum think he looks weird without it like a person who wears glasses suddenly not wearing them?? Do the brothers wear actual clothes in your fic unlike the show where theyre 80% naked 90% of the time???

Donnie is still wearing a purple mask at home! (or a durag or beanie or whatever floats his boat that day) The only reason I had him wear gray in his full Galois Battle Outfit is so it looked good with his cloak, lol. But everyone started drawing him in a gray mask and it just kind of stuck. Which is whatever. I've said that my favorite thing about getting fanart is seeing how people interpret it, and honestly there's a lot of symbolism in 'washing out' Donnie's color and forcing him into shades of gray. Just know that he is very much still our purple boy and chooses to dress in purple most of the time.

So funny thing. The reason why Draxum has Galois wear the same type of mask is because he doesn't want him being recognized on sight. He figured that the brothers all took their masks off at home (because normal people do that) and that Donnie's family was actually more used to seeing him bare-faced. Not to mention he's green-if every bit of skin is covered, most people wouldn't realize that he wasn't human until they stopped to count his fingers. So Draxum thought, on the off-chance that the fam (or someone else who knew them) saw Galois, they wouldn't know who he was and might not even realize he was a mutant.

And honestly, as stupid as it sounds, that should have worked. The only reason it didn't was because Mikey saw Donnie and just knew.

I don't think Draxum really explicitly told Galois to draw on the eyebrows, or even forced him to wear the mask. Galois just felt weird not covering his head. He knew that he used to draw on his eyebrows-Draxum wasn't going to bother actively suppressing those memories-so he just started doing it again. Draxum probably came in while he was doing it like "wtf???" But secretly glad because goddamn he didn't want to say anything but he looked fucking weird without them.

And yes, they absolutely do wear clothes more often. I know they run around half-naked to show us the audience their shells and reinforce that They Are Turtles, but I'm looking at it from a practical standpoint. They're in New York. Like, I've literally pulled up weather records for this fic and while New York is definitely more mild than Minneapolis, especially when it comes to winters, they still have winters. For much longer than one episode! It would be too cold for that nonsense for at least half the year. And they're not wearing shoes-in NEW YORK. BRO, isn't there broken glass on the ground?! Dirty needles?!! It's just fucking gross besides-and they live in the SEWER. All this doesn't even factor in their reptilian bodies-they're clearly not cold-blooded, but it's unknown how much the cold really affects them. Even in my fic where their bodies skew more humanlike and are built to withstand extreme conditions, the cold probably still isn't good or comfortable for them.

So yeah. For my sanity, they wear clothes more often. They can run around in booty shorts all they want in the summer. And Galois wears clothes almost all the time because 1) Draxum is raising him to be classy like that, and 2) he has scars he doesn't like looking at. Also Donnie is canonically a fashionista and Galois definitely inherited that. He and Cass 100% go (online) shopping together and do each other's makeup.

This year, New York Fashion Week had many different collections to offer. one that caught my eye for being genderless and pushing the steryotypical boundaries were the widerhoeft show. This designer showed androgeny embracing the gender fluidity, seeing men in dresses and women in suits; it was a show to remember

widerhoeft  The brand was developed in 2019 by Jackson Widerhoeft, who graduated from Parsons School of Design. "Wiederhoeft is a design house obsessed with theatre, dance, and the magic of live performance. Buffoonery! Bamboozlement! Mockery! These are the virtues and muses of the Wiederhoeft dreamscape..." A snippet from the brand's website gives insight into their focus as a brand and their overall style. very bright, very loud, and brings the theatre to the runway. 

However, the Ny24 show caught my eye due to the excessive use of androgeny and gender fluidity, not just in the clothes but in the models as well, as many identify as gender fluid or other variations of gender. to blur the lines between "man" and "woman" and turn fashion into what it should be, art.

Veer could never be blamed for being predictable, if anything, one could never really say what they were about to do. If they would show up on your doorstep - something that always must happen unannounced. Showing up at Mollie’s was a risk, but Veer had always been a risk-taker. To owe someone meant to be in their debt, and they were certainly coming up with a big one. But that didn’t matter, because with New York City growing colder by the day, as winter swept about, they simply couldn’t spend another night on the cold floor of an abandoned building. They would have to take care over the next few days to pick homes and houses they were familiar with, without ever overstaying their welcome. 

Their hoodie up, dark sunglasses on their nose - despite it already being past eleven pm - and a gym bag slung over their shoulders, Veer could easily blend in with the darker parts of the streets. They rang the bell and waited for their chosen host to open up, while holding a plastic bag with cheap Indian food in their hand, the other stuck in their jacket. Hardly clothes for winter, but a wanted fugitive couldn’t really risk going into a store to buy a new jacket. Perhaps Mollie could be convinced to do some online shopping for them. The Vacation (Part 1)

The icy roads made for a challenging drive, I knew if I didn't make it to the AirBnB soon I'd end up having to drive in the dark. The sun was starting to set, and it'd be much harder to see during the night. The idea of putting on winter chains came to mind but I knew that taking the time to stop and put them on would make the drive even slower and more tedious so I made the decision to keep driving on and hope for the best. I kept a vigilant eye on the road and my speed, knowing that a single mistake could have terrible consequences.

The drive from New York City to New Jersey was long, but it would be worth it. City life had been starting to take its toll on me so I decided that taking a vacation over the Christmas season away from city life would be the perfect escape. After searching online, I found the perfect location: an Airbnb in a forest far away from any towns. I couldn't wait to explore the beautiful scenery and take a break from the pressure of city life. It was going to be the perfect getaway to recharge and relax.

I’d been driving for what felt like hours and eventually found myself pulling up to a quaint cabin. I got out of my car and walked over to the door. I knocked, and after a few moments, a man in his late thirties opened the door. He looked confused when he saw me and asked, "Who are you?" "I'm Stella Kevmin," I said, "I reserved to stay here for a bit of time?" His eyes lit up when he heard my name. "Nice to meet you Stella. My name is Machiavelli Balor.” He stepped aside to let me enter, “Welcome to your home for the week."

      The cabin was a sight to behold. Everything was made from maple wood, and the furniture, cabinets, and floors were all handcrafted with impressive craftsmanship. The wallpaper was a light tan color with small blue flowers on it which added to the elegance and charm of the cabin. As I walked in deeper, I was blown away by the beauty and tranquility of what the cabin had to offer. Every single detail was perfectly crafted. It wouldn't be unreasonable to call this place a piece of art.

      "This place is gorgeous!" I stated, turning to Machiavelli with a smile. He smiled back and remarked, "My grandfather built this place when he was only in his 20s, and after he passed, it was given to my father, and then to me. I work hard to keep it in perfect condition to honor the family tradition." I couldn't believe my luck, living in such a quaint cabin, and with such a host who cared deeply about keeping the place perfect. I was grateful to be here and looked forward to making the most of my week in this cabin.

"You must have had a long journey to get here," Machiavelli mentioned to me, "let me take your suitcase and show you to your room." As he took my suitcase, I followed him down the hallway to my room. When we arrived, I turned on the light switch and looked around. There was a full-sized bed, a bookshelf filled with more than fifty books, and a walk-in closet. "I hope you will enjoy your stay here Stella," Machiavelli told me, "I'll be in my room if you need me, goodnight." He closed the door and left me to unpack.

I had packed light for my trip, only bringing some clothing, hygiene products, and my wallet. In an effort to immerse myself fully in the beauty and peace of my surroundings, the decision to leave my phone at home was made. As I was unpacking, I gazed out the window and noticed a small hut nearby. I would have to ask Machiavelli about it in the morning, but for now, it was time to settle in for the night. After putting on a pair of pajamas and brushing my teeth, I got into bed, excited for the adventures that awaited me tomorrow.

It Still Feels like Summer . . . But Winter Running is Coming.

Currently working for one of the New York City Metro area’s biggest and best running companies, Jennifer Heiner shares below some of the important buzz words and things to keep in mind when training for your next half or full marathon.

Since joining a New Jersey running company as retail director in 2019, Jennifer Heiner has assisted with aspects of business development and overseen daily operations at the company’s four stores. Jennifer Heiner balances her professional responsibilities with membership in the New York Road Runners (NYRR) recreational running club. As part of its mission to support New Yorkers in cultivating healthy habits, NYRR offers Virtual Group Training to provide community-based motivation and guidance. Suitable for beginners and experienced runners alike, the program is guided by a professional coach and offers access to an online community of supportive runners. Each week, participants receive access to two structured workouts that are varied in their difficulty and terrain. After completing the workout, runners upload their workouts to gain precise, personalized feedback from coaches. In addition to running workouts, participants receive resources aimed at maintaining physical and mental health. An online forum invites runners to connect with coaches and fellow runners, ask questions, and share their experiences.

New York Road Runners recently posted in their team forum on Strava some to help runners get ready for the changing seasons and how to better acclimate and get used to running the cold. It might still feel like summer here on the East Coast, but winter weather will be here before you know it.

10 Tips for Running in Cold Weather 

The weather is starting to get colder here in New York City, so it’s good to get prepared for cold-weather training. Here are some tips on how to handle cold, ice, and snow on the run: https://www.nyrr.org/run/photos-and-stories/2021/new-runner-resource-winter-running-hazards.    1) Dress as if it’s 10 degrees warmer than the actual temperature. One of the challenges of dressing for winter running is once you’re 10 minutes into your run and your body starts to heat up, you may find that you are overdressed. This can lead to excessive sweating or needing to shed layers.    2) Remember to layer with accessories such as gloves, earmuffs, a scarf, etc.    3) Layer with performance fabrics that wick away your sweat and don’t leave you feeling damp.    4) Track what works for you. Everyone’s cold tolerance is different, so add notes in your training log about what worked for which temperatures or weather conditions. You’ll thank yourself the next time you second-guess what to wear!    5) Add a mobility routine before your run to get your muscles warmed up. You only need 5-10 minutes of dynamic (not static) stretching to help prevent your early steps from feeling rigid.    6) For hard workout days, give yourself extra time to warm up. Extend your jog and consider adding some extra strides to help your body gradually adjust to faster speeds in the cold.    7) If you feel the conditions are too cold, snowy, or icy, consider running on a treadmill if you have access to one at a local gym.    8) When in doubt, safety first. Take the day off or do some cross-training at home.    9) Don’t be surprised if your pace slows down when running in cold and windy conditions.
