Volcana, Titania's friend and Molecule Man's flame, is relatively small-beans compared to the majority of the MCOC Wishlist entries, and Summoners voted her down across four to five years on the list. She has been delisted and added to the Molecule Man as an obscure pairing.

Progress Checkup! (Jan. 2025) | Scratchin' Melodii Devlog
Hey guys! Time for another progress checkup; This is actually the first one of the new year! I hope you were all able to enjoy the holidays. I took a bit of a break from working on most stuff last month and have been getting back on things this month. First, I wanna thank everyone who's wishlisted Scratchin' Melodii on Steam! So far, the game's gotten over 17,000 wishlists! Thanks so much for the support!
In the previous devlog, I mentioned some changes to the rhythm system. In the Dragon Funk preview, you can see the new rhythm system and character icons I mentioned in the previous devlog! Actually, let's unpack some of the new things you're seeing in action there:
Hold Notes This is the first song in the game to include hold-notes! They mostly work the same as they would in any other rhythm game. However, since this game has an emphasis on self expression, moving the control stick during these will let you tune the note's pitch-bend for extra expression points! I showed that off in a post here. As for Pow Notes, I've been working on a way to let the player get expression points from these too! I'd like for most of the special notes like these to be not just a gimmick, but a tool that the player can use to their advantage.
Quadruple Lines Yep! The first blue line in this one is extra long and has 4 rows! Fun fact actually, I had to implement this feature after I realized that part of the song was too long to fit in just two rows. It was pretty difficult to figure out both how to do it and how to execute it in a way that doesn't feel too jarring, but I'm pretty satisfied with the results! In fact, barely anyone's even noticed it; I guess that's just how natural it feels! Not sure how much more often I'll be having lines longer than two rows, but it's great that I have the option now.
AutoPlay You might also notice that the player inputs are perfectly timed... TOO perfect... that's because I've developed an autoplay feature for the game! At the moment, it's mostly for debugging and stuff, but if all goes according to plan, AutoPlay Mode and Replays should hopefully be available to players as well in some form when the game comes out!
"Next" Indicator & Other UI Related QoL Some of the top things players said they had trouble with in the demo were related to being prepared for the next line. So, if you look at the right-end of the rhythm bars, you'll see a little tab that shows the color and amount of rows the next line will have! Also, now each line's suggested notes can be seen before the rival performs them. This did take some thought, as I actually kinda still liked the idea of it appearing as if the characters were making it up on the spot, but to put game design first, it makes more sense to have it displayed as soon as possible so the player has more time to react and prepare. This also opens up more possibilities for future mechanics, so in the long run, I think I've made the best choice here.
Now, let's get into what I've been and/or will be working on that you haven't seen yet!
Act 2's Boss The music for the Act 2 Boss is nearly complete! I'll likely be starting to animate it pretty soon. This song is the longest one I've done so far, clocking at a duration of a little over 3 minutes long!
More Animation Updates for Stir & Mix At this point, I've done even more cleanups on the sequence you saw in the last devlog and I've finished animating the "I wanna" scene of the song, which will probably have the most changes out of any other scene in the song. When I first animated Stir & Mix, I didn't quite have the time or skills to do everything I really wanted to do with it. That scene in particular I felt was WAY too stiff and boring, especially compared to the more dynamic and fluid scenes that appear in some of the other the stages now. I'd say I'm about halfway done retouching all the animations for this one!
Refined Model Sheets I don't talk about these very often, but sometime around 2023 I started using model/reference sheets for the characters. (I might show them off someday, but for now they're staying private!) Before this point, the designs are pretty inconsistent from shot to shot, so this helped a lot with that. Recently, I've done some revisions I'm really pleased with. Their designs are finally becoming... well, final! I'll be reworking the affected characters' hub world sprites at some point to reflect these changes.
Slight Reworks for some Act 1 Songs On the sound side, Stir & Mix's vocals have been reworked again! As I've mentioned in the previous devlog, 2cada's tuning style and techniques have evolved a bit since we first started working together, so we thought it'd be fun to go back and incorporate some of that into it. We'll also probably be reworking the structure of Nami's song a little bit at some point just to make it a feel a bit more solid, which may require a new line or two from her voice actor, Meggie-Elise! So funnily enough, it seems some of the songs will have end up having TWO unused beta versions after this.
Also, a quick PSA: Please note that beta versions of content will NOT be included in the full game. I've heard people ask for them to be "brought back" or toggleable, but in my situation something like that is both easier said than done and I also just... don't want to LOL. With as many directions I can take this game, I know I can't satisfy everyone, but I can make a game that satisfies me, so I'm aiming for that! And hey, maybe other people will like it too.
I think that's all I wanna talk about for now! Thanks so much for reading. It can be a bit of a daunting task to write these at times, but I'm glad to keep you up to date on the project when I can.
-LJ

November 2023 Update
Whoops! Missed a month, but retrospectively I'm not seeing much in October that I'd like to mention. So its a full skip!
The Invincible, a sci-fi walking sim, comes out Nov 6. The demo impressed me with its level of fidelity from such a small team, and the story hinted at some interesting, chilling themes. I also chatted with the PR person for the team at PAX and she was super nice :)
Other November releases coming up...
American Arcadia - Nov 15 (story puzzler)
Loddlenaut - Nov 16 (relaxing cleanup game - a previous demo winner for me!)
In Stars and Time - Nov 20 (rpgmaker story game, with the lgbt tag eyy)
I have 9 other games in my wishlist with 2023 release dates, time will tell if they'll boot to 2024! Good luck game devs!!

This one is on my wishlist.

Embark on a Legendary Adventure with Olaf the Boozer

Olaf the Boozer is an epic retro style pixel art detective comedy game for Linux and Windows PC. Credit goes to the brilliant minds at Hidalgo Code. Which is due to make its way onto Steam. Ever wake up after a wild night out, not sure how you ended up where you are? Meet Olaf, a dwarf who’s taken that experience to a legendary level. In Olaf the Boozer, Hidalgo Code invites you to dive into a comedic, time-bending puzzle adventure on Linux. One where a night of ale-fueled mayhem leads to a day of reckoning. And also redemption. Olaf’s epic pub crawl left a trail of destruction through taverns, farms, and even a haunted lumber mill. Now, with a raging hangover and the king ready to throw him in the dungeon, it’s up to you to help him clean up his mess, figure out what went wrong, and maybe figure out why that angry chicken keeps following him.
Olaf the Boozer - Announcement Trailer
youtube
This isn’t just about picking up the pieces. Olaf the Boozer is about rewinding time, retracing Olaf’s ale-soaked footsteps, and solving the messiest puzzles you’ve ever seen. Picture The Hangover, but with a pixel-art dwarf stumbling through a fantasy world full of angry townsfolk, haunted places, and barrels that need some serious rearranging.
Key Features to Keep You Laughing
Time-Bending Puzzles Turn back time to uncover what Olaf did and solve environmental challenges. Every NPC has something to say about your shenanigans — so don’t expect them to be thrilled.
From Chaos to Cleanup Olaf the Boozer has some serious damage control ahead. Think flipping barrels, fixing busted furniture, and patching up the chaos he caused while under the influence of way too much ale.
Pixel Art with Personality The visuals are as charming as they are hilarious. From grumpy chickens to ghostly lumberjacks, the game’s world is packed with quirky, comedic details.
Fantasy with a Twist It’s a classic dwarf story—just with way more ale, questionable decisions, and a very persistent chicken.
At just two hours long, Olaf the Boozer is a compact, laugh-out-loud adventure that’s perfect for fans of clever puzzles and offbeat humor. You’re due to retrace Olaf’s steps, clean up his mess, and maybe help him regain a shred of dignity (or not). So, ready to help this hungover hero piece his life back together? So add Olaf the Boozer to your Steam wishlist now and prepare for one boozy, time-twisting release. Coming to both Linux and Windows PC. WARNING: May also contain traces of ale, regret, and one very angry chicken.

nextfest demos in the order i played them!
except for 500 calibre contractz since i already talked about that
im not gonna spend too long talking about em, since theyre just demos and all, but! i like talking :3

this was great! ive tried some pinball games in the past, and out of them ive enjoyed demon's tilt the most. the progress system reminds me of mario pinball land, where if you fall down youve gotta work back up. it was kinda frustrating in that game, but i trust that this will work to make improvements like the checkpoint system. also, i like the abilities! it reminds me of wizorb in the way that i dont enjoy arkanoid/break-out by itself, and the magic lets you avoid stalemates and give the levels more freedom. so yeah, looking forward to the full game!

windows firewall defender moment. sorry, but im not really feeling this one. i couldnt progress after building the chocolate crafting table. im not sure if i was missing something or if the game just wasnt showing me new recipes. the menu sais thered be more pages if i scrolled, but there wasnt. also, i killed a ginger bread guy, but like... nothing happened? it didnt give me anything but the body just stayed there. next.

a little rough around the edges, but i respect the niche! i won my first match through attrition, but i can see myself really latching on to the gameplay if i gave the full game a shot. definitely one of those games that you leave lying around your library and launch when youre in the mood, not the kinda thing you focus on and grind out.

first impression, this needs better controller support, sometimes the menu just... doesnt work without a mouse, including the title screen. ive got a bit of a soft spot for marble games, i was inspired when i saw patricia taxxons marble blast video. but a lot of them just seem a bit unpolished, Sphero included. the foundation is there, i think the controls are pretty alright, but the presentation loses me

typo in the tutorial. the game was really polite about being a work in progress, so ill let it slide. especially since this was made by three people, wow? anyway, im kinda surprised by how well i jived with this game. i was expecting this to be a kinda mid ecchi game, but its actually surprisingly fun. the weird thing is, i remember trying viscera cleanup detail when i was younger and really not liking it. maybe this is more engaging because of the setting and style? either way, wishlisted. wish i had people to try the multiplayer with!

oh my god its so small. ew, up to jump?oh never mind this game is funky /pos as hell. i dig the music, and the npcs have such killer personality. the core mechanics are a bit simplistic but im hoping the full game fleshes them out more. i feel kinda bad that i dont have much else to say about this, the gameplay's pretty straightforward but the art direction saves it. wishlisted

last one for the night. full disclosure, i held off on this one because i knew id be into it anyway, but MAN thats a understatement! im so so into the combat here, i love being able to plan things out before committing to them, and its SO fun to play with the AP system! the writing is super fun, i already love all these characters, and i cant wait for a second to see where the story's going with the memory loss and the weird teacher, ugh i wanna play more! bar none my favorite game so far
tune in whenever my adult responsibilities are slightly less worrisome for the second part! homefully itll be the conclusion, im planning for it to be but oooooo viddy games...
#steam next fest#oh these are gonna be a bitch to tag#pinball spire#chocolate factory#usurper#sphero#goblin cleanup#rubato#demonschool#lemme know if you have any recommendations!

For those who don't know, @kaythejay is my main blog.
Greenfield, my hometown, was pretty much completely obliterated by a tornado on Tuesday (5/21/2024). At the moment, it is rated as an EF3 officially, but they're checking the structures of the foundations that are left to see if they can determine if it was an EF5.
We are *very* lucky to have as few casualties/injuries that have been reported and a big part in that was simply the time of day that the storm ended up hitting (everyone was at work).
Greenfield has gained *massive* amounts of support from neighbors and from people across the area. Several restaurants have been providing meals to both Greenfield residents and the volunteers who've come into town to help via free will donations. People have donated enough of the items on the wishlists that they have limited what they are accepting (basically just plywood, nails, and work gloves at this point). There are already a lot of efforts towards clean up happening.
With all of that, there's no telling how much finishing up clean up or how much cleanup is going to cost, so if you can, I would very highly appreciate it if you could donate to the link mentioned above (which I will be including at the bottom of this post). If you can't donate, reblogging to get the links out so people can help would be just as helpful.
I really, really appreciate the traction that these posts I've made have already received and am very grateful to everyone who is helping to make that happen. A *big* thank you to everyone who has already rebloged my post and an even bigger thank you to anyone who's graciously donated to help my community out.
My town has been completely devastated but we're #smalltownstrong and we'll recover together ❤️🩹

Here's a bit of info about how you can help Greenfield 🖤💜🩶

The Captain (aka Captain ☠☠☠☠) from Nextwave, has been demoted on the MCOC Wishlist. He was probably never a sufficiently major Marvel character to enjoy a spot among the top 600-ish candidates for MCOC, but when the Nextwave comics were a fresh memory, it made a kind of sense. Despite positive critical reception and becoming a cult classic, leading to feature toys by Marvel Legends three years ago, the Nextwave title was not successful in terms of sales when it was released, and this Captain hasn't seen much relevance since. Because of his place in our lore, he will remain on the Wishlist as an “Obscure Pairing” footnote on Boom-Boom's entry.

My mom got me a Kitchenaid stand mixer a couple of years ago, and I decided I didn't have counter space for it, so it mostly has sat in a box since then, with only a couple of uses. When I’d think about using it I thought about getting it out of the heavy box, then putting it back, and rarely wanted to do that. Its home has been my dining room table, which has been housing a lot of misc. stuff since the floors were redone, and those things have slowly been sorted through. Nearly done now.
For Christmas, my brother, SIL, my 3 nephews and 1 niece all drove down to my parents house, which is a 1 hour trip for me and about a 9 hour trip for them. My SIL’s parents also flew in, and my parents and aunt (mom’s sister) were there as well.
Lots of words about family and my house and stuff below.
My mom has had the same stand mixer for, not exaggerating here, 51 years, and it was a year or two old when she took it from her grandmother. My dad has kept it in working condition the whole time.
This past week, one day while I was at work, my mom was trying to make something and the mixer sparked and smoked. It looked bad for it to keep working. So my SIL had the amazing idea to give my mom a new Kitchenaid mixer for Christmas. She and my brother had a beautiful light blue, 5 quart Professional Plus mixer overnighted to the house. I didn’t know it was coming, and Christmas Eve night a couple of hours after I got there, my dad walked outside and was like “There’s a package on the front porch, what is this?” My mom walked outside and just started crying. It was just the most perfect family moment. My mom deserves the world, and getting this beautiful new stand mixer was the absolute perfect present. We brought it inside and she sat on the floor and took it out of the box and marveled over it and cried. It was beautiful.
My dad did manage to bring the old mixer back from the brink of death, and the old mixer still has one advantage over the new one -- size. My parents are mostly full-time RVers. They have the house as a home-base but they’re usually there 3 - 4 months out of the year and mostly live out of their RV. The new mixer is much too big for the RV. Mom and I talked about trading mixers, mine is a few inches shorter than hers since hers is the crank-lift kind and mine is tilt-head, but she said she loves her new mixer too much to trade. So for now, it’s for use at-home only, though she may need to change her mind eventually depending on if dad can keep the old mixer going.
So we baked even more than we planned to this last week so we could use the new mixer. I was making baked French Toast Christmas morning (using the mixer to beat the eggs, worked great), and showed mom the list of accessories for the mixer, waiting for her to express interest in one of them. She went “OOH!” at the Ice Cream maker. In my family we generally just spoil the kids and the adults get each other white-elephant level gifts. I got the guys knitted winter caps with an LED on the forehead and the ladies thick fleece socks, plus got my mom a glass nail file. But mom chipped in a lot of money for my floors, so I thought, I wanted to get her something nicer. So yesterday, the Ice Cream Maker arrived on her doorstep. Still can’t use it on their next trip, but it’ll be nice for other times in the year.
So all of that inspired me to appreciate the KitchenAid mixer I have. I mean, I literally wanted one for like most of my adult life, and would gaze at them at the store, had it on my amazon wishlist for years, and several times almost pulled the trigger but never... quite did. It was always too expensive, I didn’t know if I’d use it enough, etc. And I was so excited when I did get one, I think it was in 2015. And yeah.. like I said... rarely used it.
My kitchen is a galley, and it’s TINY and not well laid out. I sincerely hate my kitchen and it is the main reason I daydream about buying a different house someday. I have a square about 3 feet wide and long, if that, which is really usable counter space that isn’t taken up by the microwave, and the toaster and crockpot were on the wall-part there. The crockpot found a new home in another cabinet (it’s easy to get out when I’ll need it) and the mixer took it’s place.
I’ve had a red velvet cake mix in my pantry for awhile. Today, I make cake for the office to eat tomorrow. Next Thursday, I’m going to make these orange creamsicle cookies, the recipe for which I had reblogged several years ago, and I came across it when I was doing my blog cleanup a few months ago, and have just had it open in a tab for literally like 3+ months. My friends are planning a weekend of gaming next weekend so hopefully I can have these ready as a treat to bring. :)
The other challenge I’ve had in baking is that my oven is very old, and very bad. It’s one of those things I’ve been wanting to replace since I bought this house in 2003 and the very last appliance, including heater, AC, hot water heater, and even the sinks and toilets, that I have yet to actually replace. I even got a new dishwasher this year... so the oven will have to wait. In 2016, though, I got a microwave / convection oven for Christmas. And honestly, since the day I set that on my counter, I have not turned on the oven. I’ve used the stovetop plenty, but not the oven itself. It was always impossible to get a consistent bake in there, no matter what I was cooking, meat or sweets. Everything was always over or underdone. Everything turns out great in the convection oven, and though you can’t make anything BIG in it, for cooking for one or two people it’s perfect.
So I hadn’t really baked in the convection oven, though I’d cooked in it plenty. I realized I didn’t have small-sized baking pans, so I bought a set, and now I’m making two small-sized cakes. Though I think it’s time to dig out my cake tins... they’ve gotta be in here somewhere.
And I’m also making icing instead of using storebought. Storebought always had a chemically undertaste I hated. Hopefully this turns out awesome and I’ll have something nice for my co-workers tomorrow, and can make delicious cookies for my friends next weekend.

To Do List
((Today is gonna be a cleanup type day where I try and get my shit in order and do the things I’ve been saying I’ll do for the past two weeks so here’s a list: 1) A post with links to starters and memes I’m always accepting.
2) Verses page
3) Wishlist
4) Generic starter call for anyone new (or just in general) who wants to do things

Wishlist:
Hopping on this excellent bandwagon and posting my wishlist of plots, both canon and AU! Please let me know if you’d be interested in any of these or want a more detailed description of what I have in mind. Feel free to give your own input if you do want to do any of these! It’s a two-way street. :)
Canon: 1. The Other Man -- “Say No To This” This idea sprung from “Say No To This” from Hamilton, because, let’s face it, Solo’s no stranger to being the other man. If he’s received a few kickbacks to ensure he doesn’t go opening his mouth to the wrong person, so what? Everyone’s happy, no one is the wiser, no one gets hurt. But what happens when being the other man starts to hurt? When his affair starts to be what he most looks forward to?
2. 1945; The Young Thief Napoleon Solo joined the American army in 1945 at the tender age of sixteen, intent on escaping a lonely, neglectful home life and launching himself into the world beyond. He served as part of the cleanup forces that stayed behind in Europe once the war was done. It was during these few years that Napoleon got his start as a thief. With wide, startling blue eyes and breathless smiles he charmed his way through Europe.
3. UST This one speaks for itself. Unresolved sexual tension. That relationship he can’t pursue, won’t acknowledge, dances around. The name he murmurs in his sleep. Whether it be an enemy stationed always across the line from him or star crossed lovers, this is that relationship never quite boils over... until it does.
4. Jealous lover going to extreme lengths Napoleon’s a sucker for being wanted. This doesn’t guarantee he’ll want you back, but the chase is an act in which he luxuriates. The more complex it gets, the more desperate, the more breathless with excitement he becomes... so long as it’s your attention he wants.
5. Hurt/Comfort wound tending that builds to a deeper relationship As a spy, and as a spy with an eminently punchable face, Napoleon’s always nursing a few scrapes and bruises. And what’s better than some whump, really? Tending to wounds and patching each other up. Building a tender, trusting relationship in the peaceful silence of small safehouse bathrooms. Taking care of each other. Hurt, and then comfort. Also, and we’d have to chat about this, but the fallout from Gaby’s betrayal and Napoleon’s torture at Rudi’s hand.
AU: 1.“Babylon Berlin” Based heavily off the show Babylon Berlin. It’s 1929 and Napoleon Solo is an American spy undercover in Berlin, working as a detective for the Homicide squad while passing off information to his handler. Bonus points if you want to play a straight laced Vice squad detective, but definitely not required. Wild speakeasy parties, dancing, drugs, and booze, all couched in a art deco glamor.
2. Cursed New Orleans Vampire Otherwise known as the Interview With A Vampire AU. It’s 1800 and Napoleon, by fault of his own hubris and sass, has been cursed to never leave the borders of the city of New Orleans, and to live all his days in the dark, searching for company and a fresh meal, trapped as the world passes him by. OR same thing but in the 1920′s. Still in New Orleans.
3. Soulmates (flower and color marks) Everyone is born with the mark of a flower, the meaning of which is said to determine your fate. When you meet your soulmate the flower blooms with color, reflecting the circumstance of your meeting and the future of your relationship. OR your tattoo appears when you meet your soulmate, rather than being born with it.
4. Gatsby You know that cliche that the people are who always surrounded by people are the loneliest? Napoleon Solo, mysterious and debonair and independently wealthy, known for holding lavish parties he drifts through with a charming smile plastered on. But who’s the man really? What causes his heart to ache and those thousand mile stares across the lake?
5. Fight Club/Illegal boxing ring/bookie Napoleon, despite being extremely punchable, isn’t much of a fighter. He is, however, an excellent con man, and a bookie the mob trusts with their money. He takes the bets for an underground boxing ring. If you ask who he works for he’ll just smile and wink.
6. Circus (ringmaster/acrobat) Not exactly a Greatest Show AU. More along the lines of the Night Circus, set in a circus where everything is too good to be true and nothing happens by chance. I’d prefer for Napoleon to be part of the circus, though whether he’s the ringmaster or an acrobat/silk ropes performer I don’t mind, and he can be set opposite either a theatre-goer or a member of the troupe.
7. Golden Compass (daemons) Based off Philip Pullman’s His Dark Materials series. In this world your soul is a physical manifestation outside of your body, it’s own conscious being that takes the form of the animal most like the truth of your soul. When Sasha settled into her final form towards the end of his puberty Napoleon was surprised she hadn’t taken the familiar form of the magpie that had so often flown reconnaissance for him while he slipped in and out of galleries unnoticed.
8. Pacific Rim Napoleon is a jaeger pilot without a partner to drift with. He’s itching for action, with the need to move, but all previous attempts at drifting have ended in agony. He’s still beholden to the government in serving out his deferred prison term in service as a jaeger pilot.
9. Mutant Based off the MCU X-Men universe. Napoleon discovered his powers early, and took great delight in pushing and pulling at people’s attention, focusing them in on him at will before blurring himself out of their conscious attention. It was a difficult mutation to hide as well, much to his benefit when the purges began. As he trained his powers he became capable of drawing attention to his eyes, his smile, and away from his hands as they skimmed wallets and watches and rings from unsuspecting party-goers as he makes the circuits.
#Hello welcome to my ridiculous wishlist#Also none of these need to be historically accurate#It's all about that Fiction babey#Wishlist

Origin Update: August 23rd, 2018
There’s a new update available in Origin: Version 10.5.25.7131 – 0
Version 10.5.25
We guess our linebackers got a little carried away but, don’t worry, the refs threw a flag so now nothing’s blocking your Play First Trial of Madden NFL 19.
Our cornerbacks caught and squashed a bug that was showing incorrect upgrade messaging.
We discovered and flattened a new species of insect, Refugium Decipio Aranea, that was putting out incorrect refund messaging.
We said ‘da svidania’ to some bugs causing issues with how Russian prices would display on Origin.com.
It turns out that jittery feeling we got from launching Premier wasn’t just from us being excited; so we shook out digital ants from our proverbial pants.
Our last cleanup left behind some icky, sticky, pulpy bug goo that prevented purchasing here and there, but we got some really good squeegees and cleaned up everything.
We found some weird, six-legged beetle looking things that loved to chew on Tiberium pages causing them to 404. We did some fumigating and they’re gone now. Whoopie!
Some ants got into our TOS links and moved a few characters around causing them to load incorrectly. After writing an angry letter to their queen the drones put things back and everything is working fine.
The Cloud Sync conflict error message had a little too much coffee causing it to overzealously pop up for some games. Don’t worry, we gave it a chill pill and now it’s working as it needs to.
Our engineers rubbed a magic lamp and asked a genie to nix some bugs preventing users from removing things from their wishlist.

DELISTED: Water Snake
context: this omen
This mysterious doppelgänger of former New Warriors member Namorita replaced her in New Warriors Vol. 5, 2014-2015 during Marvel NOW!
Only in roughly 15 comics then, she hasn't been seen since. Her 72% Summoner downvote rate didn't help, either.
