Proposed Bids for the 2030 FIFA World Cup

The 2030 South American bid would make more sense if it was Argentina, Uruguay and (south) Brazil, since they're all neighbors and already have football infrastructure. Everything else sounds like a logistics and transportation nightmare.
Absolutely agreed. And it makes sense because we are the three Southamerican champions. In a fair world, it would be Uruguay alone, but they can't handle the cost and no offense but the population of Uruguay would double with all the tourists (I just looked up and like 800.000 people went to Qatar, and I'm not sure how they're handling it themsleves). But well, we can't either, unless a miracle happens by 2030. And while the players can move around all the continent, the tourists can't. A Rioplatense coup would be ideal, but Chile and Paraguay are too far, unles we build more TRAINS
I'm also not looking forward to all the corruption and such but come on. 2030 HAS to be in Uruguay. There's no other way.
The thing about these sporting spectacles like the Olympics and the World Cups is that they're getting so expensive that soon enough the only countries that will be able to really afford them will be just China and the US, maybe Japan and European countries. Something has to give.

Why can't south america bid? what rules? what's going on???
currently when a country from a certain federation (like uefa [europe], conmebol [south america], caf [africa]) hosts the world cup, no other country from that federation can host the next two world cups. for example, since qatar hosted in 2022, no member of the asian federation could host 2026 or 2030. or since russia hosted 2018, no uefa member could host 2022 or 2026
so as a result, since north america is hosting 2026 and countries from europe, africa, AND south america are hosting 2030, only countries from asia and oceania will be eligible to bid for 2034. i assume the bids for 2034 will be saudi arabia and australia, who are both (as @elishamanning reminded me) members of the asian federation. no matter which one gets it (cough probably saudi), 2038 will be interesting because then only north america and oceania will be able to bid, and there's not really an obvious country in there who could feasibly host besides the us, canada, or mexico, who are all hosting in 2026 and therefore probably won't want to do it again. tldr expect fifa to change their own rules when it is convenient for them (after 2034 has already been awarded to saudi)

Why Melbourne should bid for - and win - the 2026 Gay Games
New Post has been published on https://qnews.com.au/why-melbourne-should-bid-for-and-win-the-2026-gay-games/
Why Melbourne should bid for - and win - the 2026 Gay Games
Tumblr media
A Victorian LGBTQIA+ sports inclusion advocate has set the record straight on why Melbourne should win its bid to host the Gay Games in 2026.
Every four years since 1982, the Gay Games has drawn thousands of athletes and spectators to host cities around the world for a celebration of inclusive sport.
Last month, Gay Games organisers announced the exciting news that Perth and Melbourne were on a shortlist of seven cities in the running to host the 2030 event.
The shortlist also includes Auckland, Cape Town, Denver, Taipei in Taiwan and Edmonton in Canada.
Last weekend, Victorian sports minister Steve Dimopolous threw his support behind the event. But at the time he also copped a misinformed political backlash in the wake of the state government’s costly axing of the Commonwealth Games.
Proud2Play community development officer Kade Matthews has set the record straight, telling JOY 94.9 that the Gay Games bid is led by community, not government, and conflating the two events isn’t accurate.
“The Gay Games and Commonwealth Games are very, very different events,” he explained to the radio station.
While the Commonwealth Games are about elite competition, Kade said the Gay Games focus on “participation and celebrating community”.
Each Gay Games event offers a space “where we can all come together as a worldwide event and celebrate ourselves and have people feel comfortable in sport,” he said.
“All of the Gay Games events in Victoria [would use] existing venues. We’re not building things like athlete villages and so on,” he said.
“The bid itself isn’t led by the government. It’s led by community. A community of people from various organisations and sporting backgrounds are leading the Melbourne bid.
“It’s a very different beast to something like the Commonwealth Games.”
Melbourne is a perfect host city for 2030 Gay Games
Each Gay Games typically attracts around 10,000 athletes and many more spectators to the host city. Australia last hosted the Gay Games in Sydney in 2002.
“I think Melbourne’s in a really good place to host the Gay Games,” Kade Matthews said.
“We’ve got over 30 queer sporting clubs in Melbourne. [Proud2Play is] also doing a lot of work with the sporting sector and leisure facilities.
“Venues like Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre, climbing gyms, stadiums and spaces all around Melbourne are all involved in inclusion programs.
“With the equality unit at the Victorian government and spaces like the Pride Centre, we’ve got a really good base in community that can support this work.
“In my opinion, I think we’re really light years ahead of a lot of places in Australia to deliver these programs for our community and make sport a safe space.”
Shortlisted cities will present Gay Games bids next month
Meanwhile, Pride WA is leading Perth’s bid and they’ve said their city is excited and ready to host the Gay Games in 2030.
In late August, the Federation of Gay Games confirmed each shortlisted city had submitted “bid books” outlining their preliminary hosting proposal.
Soon, representatives from the cities will formally present their bids in-person at the Federation’s AGM in Washington DC in October.
The FGG will announce three finalist cities in December 2024. The host city will be announced in November 2025.
Hong Kong and Guadalajara, Mexico co-hosted the last Gay Games in November 2023. Sydney was the last Australian city to host in 2002.
The next Gay Games will be held in Valencia, Spain in 2026.

England men’s next major competition after the Euro 2024 will be the FIFA 2026 staged in North America. The contest will break new ground as it is presented by three nations. To limit the travel of teams and admirers. The three host nations have been broken down into east, central and west regions, where sides will be based for the group stage.
Number of teams at the Football World Cup 2026
The FIFA World Cup 2026 will be contested by 48 sides rather than the usual 32. FIFA said the decision to enlarge will increase participation and provide more chances for footballers around the whole world. FIFA first said there would be 16 sets of three teams. With the top two from each group proceeding to a knockout round of 32.
However, it reviewed this stance and will instead start with 12 sets of four with the top two teams. And the eight best third-placed teams qualifying for the round of 32. Under this format. There will be 104 games in total, instead of the old-style 64. Including an additional knockout round called as FIFA World Cup Round of 32.
Football World Cup: How does FIFA agree on the host country for FIFA World Cup
The host nation is defined by a bidding process. Fifa takes several factors into account when deciding which nation, or countries, will play host. Many of these measures are available for set-up including stadium measurements. Fan lodging, transport systems as well as services for the teams and referees. The countdown is on! Only 3 years until the FIFA World Cup 2026 kicks off in North America.
The 2030 World Cup will be held across six nations and three continents. Spain, Portugal and Morocco are the co-hosts. But the first three games of the contest will be held in Uruguay, Argentina and Paraguay. FIFA says the continent-hopping event will be a celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Football World Cup. The inaugural edition. In 1930, was held in Uruguay.
The bid has been completed as the only candidate for the competition by the FIFA Council. The bidding process for the 2034 competition has also started. Saudi Arabia is the front-runner after Fifa accelerated the bidding procedure.

Kansas City takes steps to ensure passage for FIFA World Cup 2026
There is a new person in charge of making sure. Kansas City has adequate carriage when the Football World Cup 2026 visits the area. KC2026, the non-profit group in charge of planning, and executing. The huge event named Julie Lorenz as Senior Advisor for Transportation. The organization said Lorenz will work with the transportation team to identify and implement carriage options. That will advantage the Kansas City metro for years to come.
Transportation is a key issue for FIFA World Cup 26. Teams will be spread throughout the region using different sites as practice locations and base camps. As part of the pitch to become a host city, Kansas City leaders ensured FIFA that there would be adequate passage to handle FIFA World Cup Teams. Well as the thousands of fans who are probable to visit the area.
As a long-time member of the Kansas City region. I’m proud to join the crew in charge of executing the largest sporting event in this region’s past, Lorenz said. The transportation needs of this project are significant. And I look forward to leveraging my experience in both the public and private sectors to deliver robust carriage plans.
Graeme guesses who will be England FIFA World Cup side captain at the FIFA 2026
All the talk around the England FIFA World Cup team right now is about who will follow in Gareth Southgate's shoes. As the next boss of the national team. However, one former Premier League boss is looking further. Afield is questioning who will lead the Three Lions if they make it to the World Cup in two years. Harry Kane is the current England skipper. But questions have been raised about his upcoming role in the team.
Speaking on a sports podcast. Graeme Souness has rubbed one of the team's young stars to be the one to take the armband. At the next contest in North America. He said, in two years’ time Jude Bellingham will be the England skipper. He will captain them at the FIFA World Cup 2026. I think leaders in the modern game tend to hide.
The most recent example was at the Euros. When England was having a hard time with the media. It was Bellingham one of the youngest members of the team. He was up there talking to them on behalf of the squad. He should’ve been one of the last ones to go up because it should’ve been the more senior players.
At eticketing.co, we understand the excitement of experiencing the Football World Cup live. That's why we partner with trusted sellers on the secondary market to offer FIFA World Cup 2026 Tickets. Whether you're looking for group-stage matches or the grand finale. Our platform has the best deals on Football World Cup Tickets.

Gianni Infantino stated on Monday that the organization will now consider bids from the primary 2030 potential hosts as well as Saudi Arabia, which wants to host the 2034 football spectacular. Infantino spoke from Paris before the ideas were published. The Italian revealed that plans had been given over by the…

Week 3, Post 2
It's weird to see the context in which global human rights are painted when talking about truly global sports. NFL and the NBA never have to worry about protecting human rights - we live in America. Things like that come naturally at sporting events. At least, I can't think of a recent human rights violation that occurred at an American sporting event. However, when looking at football (FIFA), the committee has to be very careful with where the games are based on who is bidding for the rights to be a host country. Something we take for granted here is a legitimate concern in the global community, and I find that fascinating. Who knew you had to accommodate for location when planning a sports tournament? Not something I think about often, and this article opened my eyes to that harrowing truth.

Sport event bid analysis for a global sport
youtube
(Australia Are Preparing World Cup Bids for 2030/2034, n.d.)
There are multiple sporting events that go through a bid process these days such as Olympics, FIFA World Cup, ICC Cricket World Cup T20 and 50 Over, Commonwealth Games, and other sporting events. There are so many factors when it comes to sport event bid because at times it can get complicated based on stadiums, budget, and other key factors. (Wilson et al., 2009) stated “The benefit of a major sporting event for your country and/or city will give a massive boost of tourism.” When it comes to major sporting events are positives and negatives of being a host nation and/or city but there are six impacts that should be considered before considering hosting a major sporting event they are financial, economic, social, cultural, environment, and infrastructure and if there are any concerns about any of these six impacts then it is probably for the best to not consider being in a bid process for the major event.
Tumblr media
Human verification. (n.d.).
The best thing about a sport bid that is gets finalised 8- 12 years before the event will be hosted, so for example the 2032 Olympic Games in Queensland was announced in 2020 giving the opportunity Sporting bids are complicated because there are multiple hurdles that a nation has to go through to even being considered into hosting the major sporting event. Each major sporting committee have minimum requirements for the hosting city to complete and also have requirements of the minimum capacity towards each game of the sporting event. (Hautbois et al., 2012), stated “Major sporting events focus on the ability of relationship marketing events to optimize between various stakeholder groups, and focusing on the tourism being a benefit.”
The First for a Sporting Bid is for the Government to be on the same side because if the Government are 50/50 on hosting a major sporting event, then it can cause an election and a massive debate between the country. The second key element towards the bid is the budget and understanding that the event will cost more than it was initial budgeted for. Walters, G. (2011). Stated “Political support is the number one essential especially in context of mega sport event.” In order to have a successful bid for the right to host a big sporting event then the hosting country or city will need to recruit a management team and create a strategy to see if hosting the event will help the country or city or if it hinders and what impact it has on the future.
Tumblr media
(dirrtyfrank, 2018)
From the graph above you can see the last 5 summer Olympic games and the last 5 winter Olympic games and see what the government thought it would cost to host the games to how much they spent on the games. This is an amazing indication that if you are thinking of hosting a major sporting event understand that the cost will be higher than the initial budget.

Saudi Arabia virtually secures 2034 World Cup bid, likely to be held in winter again
Tumblr media
Saudi Arabia is set to host the 2034 FIFA World Cup.
Saudi Arabia has been awarded the 2034 Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) World Cup.
"The 2034 World Cup will be held in Asia (Saudi Arabia)," FIFA President Gianni Infantino announced on social media on Monday (June 1). "The FIFA Council has decided on the hosts for 2026, 2030 and 2034."
The 2026 World Cup will be held in North and Central America (United States, Canada and Mexico), while the 2030 World Cup will be held in Europe and Africa (co-hosted by Spain, Portugal and Morocco). In addition, the 2030 World Cup will celebrate the 100th anniversary of the World Cup and will include a few matches in Uruguay, Argentina, and Paraguay, where the first World Cup was held.
In keeping with FIFA's regional alignment, the 2034 World Cup was expected to take place in either Asia or Oceania. As such, a two-horse race was expected, with Saudi Arabia hosting the tournament and Australia and Indonesia bidding to co-host.
However, on October 18, Indonesia announced its support for Saudi Arabia. Australia then withdrew its bid on Oct. 30.
The deadline for submitting an expression of interest for the 2034 World Cup is Oct. 30, but with competitors dropping out, Saudi Arabia is likely to win the bid with time to spare. FIFA is expected to officially announce Saudi Arabia as the 2034 World Cup host in December.
If Saudi Arabia hosts, the 2034 World Cup is expected to be played in November and December, just like the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
"The average temperature in Saudi Arabia in June and July is 37 to 38 degrees, rising to a high of 41 degrees," said L'Equipe, a French media outlet, adding, "Following Qatar, the World Cup will once again be held in winter." 슬롯

Fifa is holding the world cup 2026 in 3 countries, in 2030 in 6 countries (??) and in 2034 in one country only, Saudi Arabia, with only Australia able to offer a counter bid and they had 4 weeks to do so. Saudi already had their bid prepared.
Thanks to Fifa, football is becoming the most morally corrupt sport in the world without any competition. Why don’t countries just play their own games and friendlies? Fifa is a joke.
Typical Swedish men’s players take on Saudi arabia:
https://www.expressen.se/sport/fotboll/ifragasatter-nu-fifa-efter-saudiarabiens-vm-beslut/
It’s ”fun”, it’s ”great”. As usual they don’t care one bit about women and gay people.
imo it's a disaster waiting to happen. Surprised the environmentalist activists haven't gotten a hold of it

Sports clubs get behind Perth's bid for 2030 Gay Games

Sports clubs get behind Perth's bid for 2030 Gay Games
Tumblr media
Pride WA is leading Perth’s bid to host the 2030 Gay Games, the world’s most high-profile LGBTQIA+ sporting tournament.
Every four years, the Gay Games draw tens of thousands of athletes and spectators to each host city around the world. The 2018 Games in Paris had over 10,000 athletes take part.
For 2030’s event, organising body the Federation of Gay Games (FGG) confirmed ten cities across five continents had made the “long list” of bidders for 2030.
Australian cities Adelaide, Melbourne and Perth are among those ten cities, as well as Auckland in New Zealand.
In Perth, Pride WA is leading the WA capital city’s bid.
Pride WA CEO Dr Lauren Butterly said now was the perfect time to host the Games, given a big jump in the number of LGBTIQA+ sporting clubs recently.
“We are so excited to be bidding for the Gay Games 2030. Perth has an incredibly vibrant and diverse LGBTQIA+ sports community that has grown and flourished in recent years,” Laurie said.
“This coupled with Perth’s strong sporting culture, great weather and world-class sporting facilities makes Perth the right city, at the right time, for the Gay Games 2030.”
Team Perth backs Gay Games for 2030
In Perth, well over a dozen clubs and groups offer inclusive sports and recreation activities, under the umbrella Team Perth.
Laurie said most of Pride WA’s staff and board members participate in multiple teams themselves.
“LGBTQIA+ sports are so much more than exercise. It is an incredible community. LGBTQIA+ sports is where many of us find our home – including me,” she said.
“Bidding for the Gay Games is a way of sharing our vibrant LGBTQIA+ sports community with the world and continuing to bring us all even closer together.”

The bidding process’ next step has a deadline of August 2024. The ten cities must all submit their first bid books, explaining how their city would put on the 2030 Games.
In Adelaide, out soccer star Josh Cavallo and South Australia’s queer arts festival Feast are supporting their cities’ bid.
The next Gay Games are in Valencia, Spain in 2026. Sydney was the last Australian city to host the event in 2002.
