Jeep’s mid-size pickup truck, or the Wrangler with a bed, offers all the capability of a Wrangler with the added versatility of a pickup that can tow up to 7,650 pounds. And you can take off the roof and doors for a night under the stars. For off-roaders, the long wheelbase limits its breakover angle compared to the Wrangler, though there are few places that would worry the Gladiator. The 5-foot steel cargo bed might not be the best for sleeping, but the available Trail Rail system with a 115-volt AC outlet and all the Mopar parts means you can equip the Gladiator in a way that tells others: “I’ll sleep when I die.”

As much as we love the performance from the 475-hp 6.4-liter Hemi V-8 in the Durango SRT, we prize the three-row SUV here for its towing capacity of up to 8,700 pounds ($1,195 package required), which is the most for any SUV not based on a truck. That’s good enough to tow some 30-foot travel trailers, and when you unhitch it at the campsite you can cruise around the local sights with gusto. Or find a straight to hit 60 mph in 4.4 seconds. Careful on arriving at the campground late or leaving early; the unabashed V-8 rumble might cause your neighbors to enact social distancing in a much more hostile way. It seats six, too, with comfy buckets in the first two rows, so if you had to sleep in the car, you could recline and cocoon yourself in blankets or catch a flick on the rear entertainment center ($1,995). That’s not really camping but at least you’re out of the house.

It doesn’t matter that this three-row SUV is nearly old enough to get its own driver’s license, the Land Cruiser is beloved the world over for its rugged capability and SUV versatility. The 381-hp V-8 and truck frame give this heavy 4×4 the kind of off-road confidence expected in a truck but with a boxy body. It seats eight but no one will be happy about that. The third row can never get out of its own way, however, even if it’s split and swung out to rest against the wall. The off-road ready Heritage Edition deletes the third row to seat five, and comes with a mega roof rack coveted by posers and brozers alike. Options are limited but tow hooks, skid plates, mud-and-snow tires, a split liftgate/tailgate, and an integrated hitch capable of towing 8,100 pounds come standard. What it lacks in interior refinement and features, the Land Cruiser makes up for in bona fide go-anywhere capability. It’s not the roomiest if you need to crash in it overnight, but there are so many aftermarket accessories and roof-top tents you may never need to.

Land Rover might be the only brand with an off-road reputation on par with the Land Cruiser, and the return of the boxy Defender two- or four-door SUV puts the British brand firmly back in the bush. Thick bumpers, big wheels, heavy cladding, and a tailgate-mounted spare belie the blend of luxury and rugged finishes found inside, such as a touchscreen, alpine lights, and exposed rivets. Jeep Wrangler Sport S and Mustang 2.3L Convertible: Two Fours for Summer Fun

No I’m not talking about cases of beer. I’m referring to the number of cylinders found under the hood of two American icons in the automotive landscape – the Jeep Wrangler and Mustang. Don’t scoff, four cylinders have been making a huge come back in recent years and no, these are not your grand dad’s four cylinders. Both the Jeep and the Mustang rely on turbocharging to get the extra oomph when needed all while delivering below average thirst numbers compared to their V6 and V8 counterparts. Let’s face it do we really need all that horsepower all the time and isn’t it nice to save some bucks at the pump.
Jeep Wrangler Sport: Back to its roots
“There’s something amiss here.” I tell myself as the engine comes to life. I hit the off button and check for the glow plug light, there isn’t one. For some reason the engine doesn’t sound the same, and yet there’s something eerily familiar about the sound.  I mistakenly expected the Wrangler to be diesel powered, which it was not. The diesel mill is offered in the Gladiator that I was due to drive, but at a later date. Blame it on old age or just on my eagerness to get behind the wheel of one of my favorite rides.

Well one thing lead to another and another and before I knew it, it was several days later that I popped the hood to gaze upon the turbocharged inline 2.0L four cylinder. THAT’S what the sound was… somehow, the engineers at Jeep have managed to get the sound of the old familiar World War II era four cylinder Jeep into this modern, 80th anniversary edition Wrangler…or maybe it’s just me. One thing is certain, it doesn’t sound like the Wrangler I’ve been accustomed to.

Maybe it’s just coincidence, maybe it’s good corporate planning, with Jeep’s closest off-road capable rival, the Ford Bronco making its debut this year, Jeep has stepped up the ante, not only have they launched the Wrangler Xtreme Recon equipped with the first ever 35-inch rubber straight out of the factory, but are also offering a slew of powerplants to make any competitor nervous: beginning with this week’s tester, there’s the 2.0 L turbocharged four cylinder mated to the 8-speed TorqueFlite automatic, the trusty old 285 horsepower Pentastar 3.6L V6s remain and come with either a manual or automatic trans, there’s also a mild hybrid version mated to the 3.6L tagged the eTorque, a 3.0L EcoDiesel V6 with 442 lb-ft of torque and 260 horses and for the first time in four decades, the Wrangler gets a V8. Available exclusively (dare I say for the time being) in the Rubicon 392 trim, the 6.4L throws out 470 horses and the like amount of torque through the eight-speed TorqueFlite automatic transmission and Selec-Trac full-time active transfer case.  It blasts the Rubicon 392 to 100 km/h in less than five seconds making it the quickest Wrangler in history!

Well it appears the Jeep has come full circle with their mills, reverting back to four cylinder power to move their off roaders about. But don’t think for a minute that these are the old WWII flatheads. No sir, and not one but two count them, two four cylinders are offered. Aside from my Snazzyberry Pearl colored 2.0L turbocharged tester which pumps out 270 horses and 295 lb-ft of torque, capable of towing 2,000 lbs (907 kilos), that’s 35 more lb-ft of torque than its V6 counterpart, there’s also an electrified four cylinder that adds an electric motor. The plug in hybrid 4xe delivers 375 horses!  Stay tuned for more on this one.

If you’re a regular reader of my posts you’ll know that I do NOT check performance numbers or price tags before I get a feel for what the vehicle feels like. Does it feel like 300 horses, does it feel like 400 lb-ft of torque? I tend to reserve looking at the stats until after my first, second and third impression. That said, despite having 270 horses, it still seemed a bit anemic from my previous Wrangler encounters (with the V6). There’s a noticeable difference at half throttle when leaving a red light or stop sign, but that quickly disappears as you build up speed. Punch the go pedal however to wake up the turbo boost and grab on to the steering wheel. The torque kicks in and bites the tarmac like a banshee. Suddenly Jeeps decision to go with this combo makes perfect sense.

On the highway the four delivers smooth, linear power and actually feels better mated to the 8-speed automatic than the six. Passing semis or climbing grades isn’t a problem and while I didn’t get the chance to go off-roading I suspect that the added torque would be able to let this Wrangler do some serious climbing prowess without hesitation.

Of course one of the other main attributes is that the Wrangler can shed its top when the weather turns warm. With two tops available it still remains the only convertible SUV in the market.

One of the Wrangler’s Achilles’ heals has always been it’s thirst for fuel. My best has usually been around 12L/100 kms even when feathering my foot. Well the 2.0L netted me a 9.75L/100 average, on top of which a $200 saving over the automatic trannied V6 makes getting into a Wrangler a lot easier. The Sport S starts at $45,465, my fully loaded tester came in at a substantial premium, which leads me to want to see this mill in the 2-door Wrangler variant with a manual transmission. Now that would truly be full circle. If you’ve always wanted a Wrangler but weren’t crazy about their fuel consumption Jeep has just given you several reasons why you should reconsider.

Mustang 2.3L Convertible: Is this the best Mustang ever?
It’s a balmy July afternoon, the kind we wait all year long for and fantasize about from December through to March. I’m in the left lane of the 401 heading west, passing semi after semi. The sun is beaming down on me and I get to thinking how nice this thing would be for a cross-country run. Indeed it doesn’t get much better than this. There are so many semis it reminds me of the rocking chair scene in The Bandit, only I’m not driving a T-top black Firebird with a roaring V8 and Sheriff Buford T Justice chasing me, but a drop top Antimatter Blue (yes that’s the hue) Mustang with a turbocharged 2.3L four cylinder.

For decades Ford has been grappling with the notion of having both a high performance Mustang and an economy Mustang, and yes when it first debuted there were trims that encompassed both. But over the years that concept got lost with muscle cars taking the limelight. It wasn’t until the gas crisis of ’73 that the economy car resurrected itself in the Mustang II, but in the process lost the muscle slice of the pie.
Well guess what, the 2.3L fits both bills easily. Yes diehard muscle heads may pooh pooh the thought of another four cylinder in a Mustang but they have no idea what they’re missing out on.

Pillaged from the darling all-wheel-drive Ford, the Focus RS, the 2.3L mill has been turned longitudinally to fit into the pony car. Although Ford has given the Mustang a larger twin scroll turbo, there are 18 fewer horses pulling the pony car over the RS. Torque however has been retained.  
With 310 horses and 350 lb-ft of torque on tap mated to an optional 10-speed automatic my tester galloped along without so much as missing a breadth. Thankfully Ford has retained the 6-speed manual. My unofficial timing showed zero to a hundred kilometers shot in at 4.6 seconds!  I have to say that as sweet as the four cylinder is, the exhaust note just tries to hard and gets annoying after a while.  It’s like look at me, look at me. Oh shut up! Thankfully there is a shut off switch.

My ‘stang came with the High Performance Package, a $6,500 option inherited from the Mustang GT, which meant stickier 19” Pirelli rubber over the base car’s 17” units, larger brake rotors with four piston calipers, stiffer springs, a beefier rear sway bar, strut tower brace, a larger rad, a 3.55:1 limited slip diff. In other words, all the right stuff to make this a serious tourer.

Another plus for the four-cylinder argument is better balanced shedding 147kilos (auto trans) off its front axle. The result is a crisper handling ride with a nominal amount of body roll, less nosedive under hard braking. Switching driving modes from Normal to Sport mode for attacking the lakeside twisties shows the car’s true potential with the engine’s responsiveness hitting the sweet spot over 2,500 rpm and the fun factor sans V8.  
This would make an interesting track car.

Inside you get all the usual fan fare of goodies including cooling and heated power leather seats.  The hi-po package adds an oil pressure and turbo boost gauge and engine spun aluminum instrument panel. Fit and finish is spot on with comfortable buckets making the drive that much more enjoyable.

Above: Despite what it looks like my 6’ frame spent several hours back there in a friend’s convert for a three-hour trip to the Syracuse Nationals a few years back without a single complaint.
Like the Jeep the Mustang doesn’t come cheap. While the base price is a very reasonable $43,370, my tester’s option list added another $11,800 to the price tag. Stepping up to the $6,500 high performance package is a no brainer, especially if you’re a serious driver, but while the 10-speed is perfectly matched to the engine and responds wonderfully to throttle inputs I’d go with the 6-speed manual and trim $1,750 off the tag. Other options included $1,000 AM/FM/CD/HD radio, $2,300 for adaptive cruise, voice activated touch screen navigation and the Ford Safe & Smart package.

In a move I just don’t understand is the spare tire/wheel has been relegated to option status! In its place is a compressor - just the ticket for a bent rim, blow out or flat in the middle of nowhere on a dark rainy night. Come on Ford!

Yes the Mustang buyer has a number of trims and powerplants to opt for all the way to the 100 grand Shelby GT500 but really, wouldn’t you rather have a car that hits all the right fun buttons without breaking the bank while still passing a gas station or two ( I averaged 10.7L/100 km). Oh and let’s not forget the savings on the insurance premium on the four cylinder So shrug the V8 monkey off your back and hit the road in a four.

Summary: Jeralt and Byleth (and Sothis) have a brief moment to bond when they attend a harvest festival.

The life of a mercenary does not often allow Jeralt to have a quality bonding time with his daughter - an unfortunate reality that the man has resentfully come to accept. There simply isn’t much he can do about it short of changing his line of work. Sure, he could’ve settled down, become a farmhand or apprentice a craft back when he left the service of the Church with his infant child in tow. That, or he could’ve done the only thing he already knew how, and knew how to do well to boot. He supposes the clutches of familiarity were simply too strong for him when he left all else of his life behind in that damn monastery. They needed the money, and simply put, killing pays much better than working the fields. Better than leading a band of men to do the killing, actually, but it’s also less safe, and he does have a kid to take care of. His bounty hunting days were only ever a stop-gap until he could assemble a proper band.
Back then, he had often found himself having to leave Byleth in care of strangers. It was that, or to bring her straight into the danger of a swordfight. He hated having to entrust her safety to others. He was keenly aware that if he were one day to not return form a job, there was no guarantee that his girl would be taken care of any longer than the money he gave to the people he’d left her with allowed. But what other choice was there? The most he could do was make sure she’d be handed over to an orphanage if that ever happened, rather than be left to fend off for herself, even if that meant her falling back into Church’s clutches.
It got easier when he finally assembled his band, but by then Byleth was grown enough for him to leave her to her own devices for more than a few moments and be reasonably sure she wouldn’t somehow hurt herself, as younglings tend to. So he did. He could also leave her with one of his men and be sure they would sooner swallow burning coals than let any harm come his kid’s way. Having Byleth awakened in him a streak of imagination; particularly of all the dangers lurking around every corner, but also of the many ways his men would regret failing to safekeep his child.
The thing is, with the amount of work there always is with the company, it’s just convenient that Byleth is independent enough to not usually need him, as is having someone else to care for her. Because here’s the thing about leading a bunch of sellswords; there’s always more work. Even when everything seems to be going well, it’s all but guaranteed something will go to shit in a matter of days, at most. Equipment falling apart because some dipshit didn’t oil it properly. The tents catching mold. An outbreak of some or other sickness. Food stocks going bad. The animals breaking free from the pens. Men stirring up trouble with the locals, or among themselves. An employer trying to fuck them over. Always something.
It all amounts to him not having nearly enough time as he’d like for his daughter. They’re not distant, but Jeralt can’t in good conscience call them close. Not as close as he wishes they were, certainly. The fact Byleth is… as she is, doesn’t help matters.
It’s for these reasons that the man makes sure to arrange the company to have time off around the time of festivities. It’s good for morale, regardless, to let his boys and girls off the leash for festivals and celebrations when they chance upon them. The camp, he’s decided, will not burn if he leaves it for a day, and he’s glad for the opportunity to spend time with his daughter away from it.
It is how Jeralt finds himself walking the bustling market of Edmund, Byleth’s small frame seated upon his shoulders as to give her a better view of the going-ons around them. She didn’t ask, nor comment on this development, but Jeralt can tell from the minute swinging of her tiny legs that she’s enjoying the chance to be so tall.
A small pat on his head draws the man’s attention to the small person who gave it. He twists his head to find his daughter’s numb eyes expectantly trained on him.
“Yeah?”
“Can we get a bear?”
Jeralt blinks, his first reaction to look around in search of the beast, before haltingly realising what Byleth obviously means. The stall with stuffies draws eyes all around for all the bustle of excited children crowded by their indulgent parents. Indeed, from his position a head above the rest of the crowd he can easily spot the bear stuffy which has caught his kid’s fancy. Curious, that. Among the toys Jeralt has gifted her throughout her life, Byleth has expressed the greatest fondness for sticks and stones to bludgeon those with. That and knives, though she only asks for those on the first day every new moon, apparently in hopes she’ll be old enough to get one, then.
“Oh? Do you like bears now?”
“Sothis wants it.”
The words have Jeralt choke on his breath, and his blood run icy.
“Where did you hear that name?”
Byleth’s eyes betray nothing, though the second it takes her to respond shows clearly her confusion.
“She’s my friend.”
It’s Jeralt’s turn to blink and stare, what parent would name their child Sothis? The Church wouldn’t have the name of the goddess be tarnished on a mere mortal; it’d be blasphemy, pure and simple. He’s also not heard of Byleth having made a friend since they came near the town, it’s only been two days, regardless. Unless...
“The one from your painting?”
The girl nods, satisfied with his understanding, and it’s all Jeralt can do to pinch the bridge of his nose to stave off the coming headache.
It seems a more exhaustive explanation about what his men can and can not mention around his daughter is in order. In the five years since he’s left the service of the Church, Jeralt has made sure to avoid crossing paths with it with zealotry usually reserved for Seiros’ own knights. This has been in part as an effort to slip beneath Rhea’s ever watchful eye, but also to have Byleth grow free of the Church’s teachings and influence. He’s made it as clear that he wants no talk of the faith in his company as he could’ve while avoiding being overt about it. It seems someone didn’t get the memo. Probably one of the Faerghasians, damn fanatics.
He carefully schools his expression past the scowl threatening to break out on his face. Byleth still awaits his response, and he would hate to give her the impression she’s done something wrong. She’s five. She’s heard a name she likes, and gave it to her imaginary friend. It’s not even that problematic, really. If someone were to hear her call her make-believe friend Sothis. They might even find it endearing to see a child manifest her faith so. That is, as long as there were no questions to follow. Jeralt doesn’t particularly wish for a priest to get a wind of apostasy.
“Can you, maybe, call her something else?” he asks, not entirely successful in masking his discomfort. It slips right beneath Byleth’s notice, the girl firmly immersed in the depths of her confusion at the request.
“But it’s her name.”
Right. Of course it is.
“Can you ask her if she’d like a different name, then?”
Disturbingly, Byleth looks off to the side, where as far as Jeralt can say, there’s nothing to be seen, before turning back to him, only for her eyes to stray again for a second and once more return to him. Are children supposed to visualise their imaginary friends? He doesn’t know, he can’t remember if he had one himself. Should he be worried?
“She says no.”
“Can you at least promise me not to tell people her name?”
“Can we get a bear?”
A bark of laughter escapes the mercenary. Hah! A little wrangler he’s brought up, hasn’t he? Fair enough, though it’s not like he wasn’t going to get his daughter the toy she’s asked for. Keep in mind before you embark on your adventure – that it may be a good idea to travel with someone who is already familiar with the trails. They can also serve the dual-purpose of helping you out of a bind if you get stuck. Usually getting stuck can be attributed to one of two problems: lack or ground clearance OR lack of traction.
Avoiding the ground clearance issue is usually pretty obvious – don’t drive over something higher than the bottom of your vehicle. But if you come up on an iffy situation, try to line up either the driver of passenger-side tires to drive directly over the obstacle. This will lift the side of your vehicle & increase your ground clearance. You’ll also generally have more clearance on the side of the vehicle, than you will under the belly & axles. If you straddle the obstacle, you may high-center, making it difficult to get unstuck if the obstacle is wedged under your vehicle.
Getting Unstuck
First, find out why you’re stuck. Did you drive over something too tall (lack or ground clearance)? Or, does the ground offer so little traction that your tires spin (lack of traction)?
Stuck because of ground clearance
-There are a few initial tricks when it comes to getting unstuck… and we have often found that simply stacking rocks to fill in holes and gaps may help lift your truck and level out the terrain. Or it may help you grab that little bit of traction that you need. Having said that, always be sure to scatter the rocks after you’re done to preserve the challenge for the next person. We don’t build roads when we’re wheeling.
-If you are only lightly resting on an obstacle, sometimes backing up slowly will work. In doing so, try to back up far enough to where you can see the trail again… to plan a different path.
-Or, you may decide to winch yourself off the obstacle in a slow, controlled manner. When you use a winch you have the benefit of being able to pull slowly, and stop when needed. Maybe you decide to stack more rocks under the tires and/or pull from a different direction. A winch is a great tool for getting unstuck without doing damage to the bottom of your 4×4.
-If you are badly stuck on an obstacle, you probably need to lift the vehicle off of whatever it is that is obstructing your path. Dragging the Jeep across the obstacle with a winch may do damage. So use a Hi-Lift jack and Lift Mate to raise the tires on one side of your vehicle off the ground. This may be a good time to stack rocks under the tires to increase your ground clearance by forming a ramp that will allow you to drive off the obstacle.
Keep in mind that your wheelbase will affect your ground clearance under the center of your Jeep. Short Jeeps (2 doors) have a higher “breakover angle” than longer Jeeps.
Stuck because no traction
When you’re dealing with a lack of traction situation, the key is to keep a slow/steady momentum. If you stop, you’ll usually get stuck. And though it seems natural in the moment… spinning the tires faster seldom works & will only dig you in deeper. (cutting the tires slightly back & forth while keeping slow/steady momentum will sometime catch a little extra traction).
The next thing to try is backing up in your own tire tracks, which will sometimes get you back to safe ground. Backing up usually works pretty well, especially in sand, because you are driving in your own compressed tracks. If this fails… take a break, and determine where you need to go, and how you plan to get there.
Start with some of the easy solutions to save your sanity. And then work your way down to the harder fixes if necessary:
Shift into 4WD if you haven’t already. 4WD High will decrease the torque. Decreasing the torque makes it less likely that your tires will overpower the available traction. See if you can creep forward or backward. If you get any movement, try to keep a nice steady speed. Once you get going, keep going, until you reach firm ground.
Air down the tires if you haven’t already. Letting some air out of the tires increases the tire’s footprint, and may provide enough grip to get you out. Remember that you probably need to drive on paved roads after you get out, so don’t go too low unless you have an air source. 12 to 15 psi may work.
Sometimes, all you need is a gentle tug from your buddy with a recovery strap. Gentle is the key word here. Unless you’ve really buried your truck, a gentle tug from someone with grip usually works.
*Be sure to use a recovery strap rather than a tow strap. A recovery strap is slightly elastic and has sort of a bungee effect. A tow strap doesn’t stretch and can break & cause damage to your vehicle if pulled too hard. Never use a strap with metal hooks on the ends since the strap can break – causing the metal hook to become a projectile.
**Only hook-up to sturdy tow points. All tow hooks must be attached to the frame or a factory designated area. Even the unibody Jeeps have factory tow hooks attached to areas designed by the Jeep engineers.
***Do not pull on a trailer hitch ball. They will have a tendency to snap off and come flying back at you. But you can remove the drawbar from the hitch, insert the looped end of the strap and secure it with a hitch pin.
Hooking up the Winch
First, grab your gloves, a tree-saver strap, D-shackle, and the winch remote control.
Plug in the winch’s remote control, and wrap the remote control cord around the mirror to keep it away from the ground or tires… and hand it to the driver.
Then, determine which direction the Jeep needs to go in order to get unstuck.
Locate a large living tree or vehicle to use as an anchor point. The anchor point needs to be at least 2 or 3 Jeep-lengths away in order to pull the Jeep far enough forward to get unstuck.
Turn the lever on the winch to free-spool, and pull the winch line towards whatever you intend to use as an anchor.
When using a tree as an anchor, place the tree-saver strap around the tree trunk near the ground. This is the strongest part of the tree, and the least likely place to do damage to the tree’s bark.
Have the looped ends of the tree-saver strap facing the winch/Jeep. Remove the screw pin from the D-shackle, and push the shackle through the strap’s looped ends. The round part of the D-shackle needs to go through the strap’s eyes, leaving the pin available for the winch hook.
Screw the pin back in, finger tight. Then unscrew the pin ¼ turn to prevent it from binding.
Connect the winch hook to the shackle. Make sure the open part of the hook is facing up for safety.
Lay a winch line weight across the winch line, if you have one, and fill it with a little dirt/sand. The weight of the dirt/sand will absorb the energy if the winch line breaks, and the line will just fall to the ground instead of becoming a projectile. A hoodie or 2 will work if you don’t have a weight bag.
Then, go back to the winch, turn the handle back to engaged, and plug in the remote control.
Be sure everyone is well clear of the area. At least 150 feet away. FYI: The winch only has the advertised pull rating on the lowest layer of cable. And always leave at least 5-9 wraps on the drum so the line does not unwind from the drum. And never walk across or straddle a cable. Step on the winch line if you must cross over it.
Once the Jeep is unstuck, disconnect the winch hook from the tree-saver strap & D-shackle.
Next, use the remote control to respool the winch cable. Feed the winch-line in evenly from side-to-side on the drum (like fishing line). Always wrap the winch-line neatly on the drum to prevent binding. If a winch-line is pulled down in between the layer below, it will bind and you may not be able to unspool the cable next time you need it.
Finally, disconnect the remote control, and put all your stuff within easy reach in case you need it again.
Operate the winch periodically at home to keep the solenoids working properly.
Steel winch cable is abrasion resistant and cheap. But, it is heavy and therefore has more energy (whip) when it breaks. It also kinks, twists, and frays easily. Synthetic line is better if you have the option.
Winch rope is easily abraded and needs protection when rubbing on anything.  It is more expensive too. But it is very light and is considered safer because it stores less energy and does not whip as much when it breaks.
You can also tie a knot in a winch rope that breaks and still have 80% of its original strength.  Winch ropes can be spliced and repaired.

pulled from the dev tea room’s micro challenge archive. 
Poe has two vehicles in his modern verse.
The first is a three row Volkswagen Atlas that is technically owned by his production company. It’s an upgrade from another previous SUV he had owned for the same purpose - hauling gear between sets in the event they don’t film in-house. the gas mileage isn’t the best, but with the third highest cargo capacity for a large SUV, she gets the job done better than most. He only uses her for work, & once he makes the big move from outside of LA to NYC, she primarily takes up residence in one of the two parking spots he bought alongside the penthouse that was renovated to accommodate full production. Since they rarely film anywhere but in-house, her gas mileage issue is less of a problem, though he does retain her just in case they decide to do something wild. 
The second is a Jeep Wrangler that’s matte black with darker black detailing he’s nicknamed Black One. She’s his primary mode of transportation outside of work, & it’s not uncommon for her to come out to play even before winter has fully loosened its grip on the North East. he’s apt to take the doors off & keep the top open so he & BB can escape the city to get some sun on Long Island, or further. Black One is a Rubicon, & has a doors off kit & beadlock-capable wheels, & a dual top system with a mesh sunbonnet. Inside, she has perforated leather trimmed seats, a premium audio system, as well, & all-weather floor mats. 
She’s keyless with remote start capabilities with a cold air intake upgrade to the engine so he can keep his manual transmission preference. she’s capable of trailer towing given her heavy duty electrical upgrades, has heated seats & steering wheel, & all in all she’s a much better car than the Atlas but he refuses to let anyone know that because he would rather die than have his girl used for work equipment.
