today i learned that there's a motor scooter model called the Honda Dio.

that would be funny enough, but they also have another model called, surprise surprise, the Honda Giorno

(1/2) For your question about the dub. The dub is not as popular especially because a lot of moments from the Japanese voice acting is kind of iconic, so much so that by part 3 the english dub started adapting/emulating parts of it. (Some super iconic stuff from the Japanese voice acting are Dio's muda and wrrryyyy, also his english "good by Jojo!" from part 1 then there's Jotaro's yare yare daze and Jospeh's English "Oh my god!" <this is one that the english VA emulated)

Oh man I could not care less about what reddit fans think sdfghjkl I've always hated the whole dub vs sub debate, I personally just watch whatever I find more convenient at the time. I don't dislike the sub by any menas, it is iconic and for good reason!!

I'm just a big fan of the dub because it's sillllaayyyy and if anyone feels like rewatching jojo I think they should try the dub out for character hightlights such as: Jotaro, Polnareff, Josuke and YOSHIKAGE KIRA.

Does anyone else ever wonder who the hell your notes / journal / etc. are for??

Like - looking at the note I just wrote:

hmmm…. I guess. I think this is one of those things where it is important to think differently from a reader. Tropes exist for a reason. Clichés are tropes that are in a story because they are a fitting trope instead of being the exact correct action for this particular story. The cliché is usually close to correct in concept but not sufficient to carry itself. The trope isn’t the problem. The problem is that it doesn’t fit right. The correct execution of the correct trope will not feel like a cliché. It may not even feel like a trope. It will simply feel right. Readers don’t need to think about that. All that matters for them is if it works or if it doesn’t. Writers DO need to distinguish between Tropes, standardized materials for story building, and Clichés, using the wrong specific material for the specific project just because of the resemblance to other projects. AND they need to distinguish between object, the trope itself, and execution, how the trope is used. It’s the difference between a 2x4 piece of wood, the trope, and the difference between how a child and a professional builder will install said 2x4. It is not simply that it WILL be different, but the difference will be visible and the child’s experimentation will not be taken as an acceptable level of workmanship for real use in construction, even if the client can’t clearly articulate the shear angle and grain tear away. It just looks wrong for some reason. That’s the real difference between writers and readers. Readers can just feel a problem. They can make comparisons between things that felt right and things that felt wrong. Writers have to figure out how to do the same thing AND articulate the problems well enough that they can also articulate how the solutions could work. It’s not sufficient to say it doesn’t work in A but does in B. Writers have to learn WHY it functions differently in the two different contexts.

Which is significantly longer than the text I am commenting on, and none of it is exactly a new thought for me. I think my cliché post from 2014 (ack! a DECADE ago T_T wrrryyyy am I so old???) is still my post with the most notes.

Why am I writing mini essays in my kindle highlight notes?

Who am I expecting will read said mini-essays? Am I expecting myself to read this in a couple of years and go, "wow, that's so deep," like it's brand new.
