Oh don't remind me how I hate one of the mods in that blog is an arrogant prick when I told him Meltlilith is an incorrect name of Melt's full name while Meltryllis is the correct one but he just say "Duh! civilization 5! the game is a little bit broken because on harder modes it usually trends to everyone just going for a military victory but i still enjoy the challenge of attempting other types of victories!

Time Travel Question 37: Ancient History XVII and Earlier

These Questions are the result of suggestions from the previous iteration.

This category may include suggestions made too late to fall into the correct earlier time grouping. Basically, I'd already moved on to human history, but I'd periodically get a pre-homin suggestion, hence the occasional random item waaay out of it's time period, rather than reopen the category.

In some cases a culture lasted a really long time and I grouped them by whether it was likely the later or earlier grouping made the most sense with the information I had. (Invention ofs tend to fall in an earlier grouping if it's still open. Ones that imply height of or just before something tend to get grouped later, but not always. Sometimes I'll split two different things from the same culture into different polls because they involve separate research goals or the like).

The Scum Villain’s Self-Saving System – Shen Yuan hates the popular stallion webnovel, My Immortal Demon Way, it has an online cult following and the protagonist has a harem in the triple digits. Worst of all, it’s basically glorified porn, and a terrible male fantasy with an OP protagonist. So imagine his surprise when after degrading the author, he wakes up in the universe of My Immortal Demon Way, as the first villain, Shen Qingqui aka Luo Binghe’s teacher. Shen rushes to find a way to save his ass from the protagonist’s fury at the end of the novel. Little does he know, Luo Binghe is crushing on him. Hard.

Iron Widow – In Hauxia, men and women fight together inside a Chrysalises, the boys dream of pairing up with a girl and fighting inside these mech suits to fight the mecha aliens on the otherside of the great wall, not caring about the fact that the girls regularly die inside these suits. Wu Zeitan finally turns 18 and volunteers to become a pilot – much to the dismay of her children friend who harbours a crush on her – and get revenge on the ace male pilot responsible for her brother’s death. But when she finally gets inside the suit with him, she ends up killing him through their psychic link. She is labelled the Iron Widow and forced into an arranged marriage with a male pilot who has killed 100% of the women he has fought with. But when her wedding comes around, her childhood friend confesses his love to her, and her soon-to-be-husband – who is 100% on board with her plans of dismantling the hierarchy – expresses an interest in her childhood friend.

Happy Ghost Files premiere week! Have some numbers.

Puppet History was weird this season! The Wu Zeitan episode blew up very quickly, that's easily the fastest growing PH ep ever, but nothing else was even close. With it, the opening weekend average is close to last season's (which averaged ~445k openers) at 466k, but without it, the average was 399k. Do people miss Professor's hat this much? Do they crave lore? I dunno! But the show still does very well, so I don't want to imply that it doesn't, but I did find this season's numbers odd as hell.

Everything else is trucking along at pretty consistent growth within series. Mystery Files grows around 20k per ep per week, Ghost Files at ~50k per ep per week and everything else is much lower. The people demand files.

They haven't done a lot of one offs this year but this new Steven one did pretty good. Nothing crazy but the one-offs aren't consistent and for a sponsored vid, I think that's just fine. I do miss Steven terribly so always happy to see him.

Ghost Files premieres this week! I'm excited for the show and for the new schedule. The Debriefs averaged around what the Post-Mortems always did, in the 1 million range, so I'm very interested to see how they do with the Friday spotlight and with longer videos.

As of today, August 21, 2023, Watcher has 2.71 million subscribers and 331,435,296 views. With the Youtube shorts, the number of videos and averages per video are borked, unfortunately, but nice to have some posterity with these.

Have you considered reading Iron Widow, a book about giant furry robots powered by DBZ ki and also about the main character starting out to get vengeance for her dead sister against the misogynistic government running the mech system, it has a love triangle that isn't just "one girl backed into a corner by two guys" and also it's loosely inspired by the story of actual Chinese empress Wu Zeitan. cool as fuck.

See I did wonder about hundred personas but ultimately decided unless we went and checked every persona (similar situation w jack tbh) then it probably was more accurate to ‘just’ put them down as having did. Unless they were comorbid…? Which is possible tbh

I totally forgot about diarmuid and miss crane though theyre def on the list. Some of the others I wasn’t sure about bc as much as I love saying everyone has autism I also think it’s important that there just be people who are weird. I also wasn’t too sure about some of the robot/god types but only bc that’s an annoying ass trope in media for the most autism coded guy to also be specifically inhuman, which was why I hadn’t included nezha, the valkyries, and enkidu despite them being rather obvious picks typically (I did include daybit though bc. He’s obviously autistic smh guys come on). I wouldn’t be against including them though….

This book is categorised on wikipedia as YA but also science fiction fantasy, but have you read/heard about Iron Widow by Xiran Jay Zhao? It's a reimagining of the rise of empress Wu Zeitan set in futuristic China. It's on my list and wanted to share it with others.
