Excerpt 004

"My girl is a puppy, actually."

"Let's get to basics, shall we?" I raised as I sit across the couch where she is sitting with her arms wrapped around a couch pillow.

"Okay." She replied with her amiable tone as her messy bun bounces a little along with her nod.

"This is just so to brief you in case you come across with my family especially my nosy sister who would ask you a ton of questions." I said, leaning forward as I clutch both of my hands.

"Um. Do you hate your sister?" She unexpectedly asked which caught me off guard. I guess I really was and am rude towards her in front of this innocent girl right here so I shook my head as I reply, "No. Not really. Siblings usually don't go along that well you see. But I could reassure you that there's no tinge of hate between us."

I could almost notice her pupil dilate out of utter amusement and curiosity as if she couldn't believe that two contradicting truths can exist both at the same time.

"Y-You'll get it eventually." I mutter as I dart my gaze away.

"But you're too nice to me?" She responded in an adorable manner which melted my heart for a moment. If she just know that I'm not seeing a woman in front of me but a puppy.

"Yeah." I shift my eyes from her down to the carpeted floor as I try to hide my awkwardness. "You're different. Someday you'll understand that."

She folded her lips confusingly as she nods.

"Anyway, going back to it..." I said, rubbing my nape. "I already gave you a list of your basic info--name, birthday, place of birth, schools and work. I'd make sure my sister wouldn't get to ask you anything else more personal other than that."

"How so?"

She gazed at me in a pondering manner.

"Don't worry. I have this whole plan sketched in mind."

"Is it okay we're lying?"

Man, the more she asks innocent questions the more I'm starting to feel guilty for dragging her in this.

"We made a deal remember?" I tried to impose sternly which made her rub her foot to another as she swallow before nodding, "I'm sorry."

I shrugged the unnecessary chatter as I continue, "Alright, as for the guests, there wouldn't be much of a problem as long as you stick with me. Don't ever get near anybody or try to be so loud, flashy or attention-catching especially with the guys."

"I'm not leaving your side." She answered.

"Good. And just in case they ask our relationship?"

"You're my boyfriend."

I gulped as I didn't expect her immediate response. It's cute whenever I get to make her say something so cringe or not-so-normal with a brave face.

"W-What else?" She tries to bring me back to the conversation as I daze off for a moment.

"Yeah. And then where did we meet?"

"A client's friend. You got to meet me during a collaborative meeting."

"Yeah, yeah. Perfect." I pouted my lips as I look down.

"Alright, as for the aesthetics..." I scanned her face as I continue, "I don't think I have to teach you basic etiquette at all, you seem more ladylike than my sister actually."

She looked away clutching her hands together as she makes a little pull on the pillow above her. Just how many times would I get to see refreshing gestures from this puppy?

"Just make sure you don't trip." I added. "Are you used to wearing dresses or heels?"

She shakes her head slowly. "Then maybe try practicing once we buy one."

"I will." She nodded.

"Remember, she shouldn't have the slightest bit of suspicion that we're faking everything."

"I understand."

If there was ever an attempt to use similarities between harry potter and the owl house they could have had Amity say a line along the lines of "My Father will hear of this." Or "My dad will hear about this!" So from the beginning Amity was gonna have a rocky relationship with dear-old-dad until he was able to better himself. In hindsight I'm grateful they did this. It shows with love and the will to change toxic parents can change when they care about you. Sadly something Draco never got from his father.
