Part 1 of re-doing Cotl refs !! Up first is our Lamb :-D 🐏 They were really fun to re make with their outfit I'll admit rahhhh,,, I used some elements and inspiration from Persian to Palestinian culture

From the first ever Lamb ref I made, I only gave them their common red fleece, but that was… entirely it. Something felt very empty. As the player, they allow us to either interpret Lamb as us or as their own character, and I sorta wanted to do a combination of that,, I never really paid too much attention to giving them a species either so. Yippee!

And one without text 🫶🫶 I enjoyed giving them a better focus on clothing rather than just walking around with nothing? Sometimes they keep their gloves on, other times they don't dhsjh

Additional notes: In older Palestinian culture, gold jewelry was typically common for women to wear until silver jewelry became more popular. I wanted to apply more golden colors for Lamb instead of the same bright yellow I was using only for their bell. Which reminds me—speaking of their bell, I never exactly explained the significance of the four spots. Defeating each Bishop would give them different chains of gold, including the spots on their bell! I just thought it'd be silly to make edjsjhdf

I love any chance I can get to include my cultures, so I hope they look pretty decent compared to how I used to draw them! Next reference will be Goat's :-) :-)

-From drawing Azi and Crowley’s side profiles multiple times I’ve improved a lot on my art :)

-gave me my first TRUE hyper fixation since 2022 (honestly felt like myself again lol)

-3 days spent making the bookshop in sims and didn’t finish lmao

-I love media analysis and gomens is PERFECT for it, so it gave me something to analyze🙏

-Started reading fanfic (I was desperate😔💔)

-gotten a ton of fun moots that also like gomens on TikTok!

-Got back into cosplays, mainly making them tho👍

-This is the first time I’ve been truly old enough to enjoy the fandom culture of my hyperfixations so that’s cool!!

-ALSO learned how intense hyperfixations can be and it’s very interesting to say the least… (couldn’t burp because I felt like the characters were judging me, WHAT THE FUCK?!?)

-Fans introduced me to other media I’m going to watch next! (Dr who, supernatural, Hannibal, etc.)

-Made me lose around 90+ hours of my life to this series😓 (including reading time, all rewatches, all audiobook time)

-I now have 2 gomens shirts, some earrings, a necklace, and a bracelet. So cool new accessories!

Even tho I can tell the hyperfixation is dulling out (WHYYY☹️) this series is genuinely amazing and really helped me feel like my true insane weird self again. Can’t wait for season 3 :D

I've only recently started trying to improve my backgrounds and lighting, they aren't things I usually have much fun with so I never worked on them, but I've been having a lot of fun drawing them. I'm not sure how much I've "improved", per se, but I've def gotten myself to draw things I normally avoid drawing with raau.

I'm glad to provide designs that you also like. I know my Jimmy design in particular isn't in line with some of the typical choices, and I've seen other fandom where people get defensive about that stuff. So I'm glad other people enjoy them. I love how diverse the designs and art styles for these characters can be among the artists I've seen, sometimes I wanna make alternate designs just to explore the choices they've made for their designs.

and I really need to fix my or get different animation software, cause I've had so many ideas stewing in my head for animations! I still have no idea how to properly animate but I just love being able to put characters in motion and the art of motion. Hopefully I'll be able to do thatagain soon!!

Quite the curious jellyfish. Often ostracized by other sea folk for his… many oddities.

Rui’s usually seen by himself, or with his cousin, Mafuyu, or his childhood friends, Emu, Toya, and Mizuki.

He takes a lot of interest in human people and the surface, though that’s too dangerous for anyone (except maybe the sirens and sirens-in-training) to go to. But he certainly wishes he could explore the surface world, or just learn more about human people.

Rui enjoys exploring shipwrecks for treasure or other goods with Emu (whenever she’s allowed out of the castle), though any chance he gets (usually late at night), he’ll sneak off to his mom’s old workshop and attempt to figure out what her notes mean (shh, don’t tell Dad).

If he’s not doing either, he’s probably at home doing his electricity training with his dad, lazing about the house, out with his friends, or tending to his little coral garden in the backyard (which doesn’t really need tending to, but it’s his little place to calm himself and clear his mind when needed).

I haven't done the other part of his ref sheet yet, but I'll save that for the end of arc 1 / start of arc 2 (whenever we get there... and if I remember) 👀

(Also, yes, I gave him 12 tentacles to have the RuiKasa number there lolol)

And I hope the way his tentacles are make sense??? I left them color coded to help differentiate them and also left the "guide" for them, but I can try to clarify further if it doesn't make much sense 😅

Next redesign is Mafuyu's, so I'll be starting on that soon-ish hehe

wellll for Lucifer, i saw a tumblr post where he would have the most complicated coffee order n i have just been running with that ever since bc it feels so accurate (i sadly do not remember who posted that rn but if anyone does let me know !!!) but for Licorice, i feel like he would try to be all emo n order his coffee black but he just. straight up hates it SJFHSJ he needs something sweet in it.

now me personally, don’t hunt me down y’all but u could not get me to drink coffee for anything tbh. i literally hate the stuff i have tried it so many different ways JDHSJD but since this is a cafeeee, probably uhh,,,, now that i think abt it i literally don’t like sweet foods much either 💀 i guess i would order soda or tea if they had it

i feel like they both have the same ones. both enjoying physical touch but the biggest one being words of affirmation. they both need confirmation that i actually like them n that they’re doing enough (n i’m always happy to give that 🫶🫶)

but on the giving side however. anyway yeah aerospace/astronautical engineering is kind of a weird place to be :P it's kinda niche and the workload is insane, so people burn out quick and the ones who stick around actually enjoy it a little too much tbch. the vibes are a little weird because half of my classmates are like me and there because it's a long time special interest they're willing to commit several years to and the others are obsessed with military tech and really want to be a part of that development. and they're pleasant people to be around, like they're polite and stuff, but i have actually had a conversation with a classmate who told me (and i'm quoting here) "well, i'm not the one pulling the trigger, so i'm not responsible for anything." and his ideal career paths were working on stealth bombers or hypersonics :///// yikes. there's a reason we're not taught ethics especially since military contractors are the primary ones snapping us up for jobs right out of school. ironically though the actual rotc kids are the nicest of that bunch and tend to be super collaborative and friendly? but i'm not joking in one of my first year classes we took a poll of the group's favorite movies and i shit you not over 50% of the class said one of the two top gun movies and another 15% said interstellar X__X (mine is scott pilgrim btw cuz i have taste)

luckily the yippee creatures of the class are very aware of how fucked up the industry is and willing to talk about it so there's still hope. my personal strat is to make myself a very competitive candidate for a very niche subset of the industry without very many "defense" applications lol. :D especially since a lot of those "defense" jobs are in the middle of nowhere in like, texas and alabama and florida. so not exactly the greatest places for me to be. i'm super interested in ion thruster design and development and there's a couple of startups on the west coast that are working on that so i'm crossing my fingers. tbch i am so fed up with the actual industry that i'm genuinely considering going all-in on my online "content creator™" presence just to have some shot at avoiding it. i have been having an actual existential crisis for about 3 weeks wondering if i actually made the right choices in life

but yeah the actual workload will crush your will to live unless you actually enjoy it. my classes this semester consist of incompressible fluid dynamics, dynamics control systems, structural mechanics, numerical methods, and astronomical computer simulation development >_< i'm gonna dieeeee!! and probably need an insane glasses prescription by the end of the year with the amount of coding work i have to do. plus i'm trying to score a research position and finishing up a senior-level independent study lol AND this semester i'll be driving back and forth between school and home (which is three hours each way eugh) to go to concerts and shit with my dad, but hey free tix are free tix. so in case you were wondering why i barely draw anymore, this is my life now X__X alsoalso my faculty advisor for the independent study is nonbinary and giving me job advice! they're super cool i love them foreverrrr

as for my actual hands on experience i'll admit it's limited :PP mostly because it's super hard to score industry experience before the summer before junior year and i was in recovery the whole summer so i literally couldn't hold myself upright for more than a few minutes. but i've done a bunch of projects for classes + uni-funded ones too!! my biggest claim to fame (lol) is working on a three-stage rocket designed to fly to the karman line (which is the Super Official Divide Between The Atmosphere And Space™ lol). everything except our motor was built in-house and i worked on structural design and analysis, so my job consisted of

a) working on and approving cad models of each component before we sent them to the fabrication team,

b) stress-testing all parts the fab team sent us to ensure they were flight ready (there is a picture of me somewhere sitting on a chair precariously balanced on top of three sandbags on top of a giant tube filled with more sand and our nosecone, because sand under enough pressure puts a similar kind of stress on a nosecone as it experiences in flight),

c) fixing any uneven surfaces or manufacturing errors on our parts, and

d) doing so. much. documentation. i have to be totally honest, like 75% of aero/astro e is writing the most boring papers you will ever read in your life :[

and i also built a 3d cad model of the opportunity mars rover from scratch with only official promo pics and rover "selfies" and that thing crashed the lab computers twice and took a week's worth of 8 hour days in the lab + 3 all-nighters. fml but she was so worth it thooooo

sorrysorrysorry nonnie that was probably 10x more info than you were expecting but tl;dr i'm the world's biggest weirdo who actually loves physics and rocketry so i enjoy everything i'm doing in class but the actual job search is hell on earth and i dread the day i graduate :/ for now it's still mostly fun
