i think dean would be more giddy over the fact that him and cas are best friends than if they were in a relationship.

like they are laying together on the bed, cas is on his phone and dean just randomly turns to him and asks “hey, i’m your bestfriend, right?” and cas just gives him a look wondering if he’s serious and he is. and cas goes a little soft and says “yes, dean.” and dean lights up and smiles and shuffles closer and just says “awesome” in that little whimsy voice like he can’t believe it. and for the next ten minutes is like “you’re my best friend too. like, ever. you’re my best friend, cas.” and all cas does is smile and mumbles “yes, dean. i know, dean.” and keeps holding him.

Trying to go to sleep, but then thinking about a recently human Cas, seeing Dean lightly injured and reaching out to heal him on instinct. But nothing happens. And Dean looked up, when he felt Cas' touch, so Cas ends up cupping Dean's cheek. So now they're locked in a staring match, with Cas still gently holding Dean's face.

I kind of don't like how a lot of people forget that despite all the angst and the drama around Dean and Cas they are fundamentaly best friends.

How many times did Dean say it throught the entire show? Bobby in season 6 saying "Well, you just lost the best friend you ever had."

For Bobby to say that, knowing Dean better than even Sam in some regards, how many times had Dean been sitting with Castiel on the couch in his living room?

Cas doesn't sleep, and rarely does Dean, with the Apocalypse looming right behind him.

So all they had left, in those quiet nights were each other. And they were okay with it, because they liked each other's company.

i think seeing dean winchester, in a burst of adrenaline and excitement and relief, just grabbing cas by the front of his trench coat and kissing him hard without any care for who all is standing around them and forced to bear witness would cure at least half of my mental illnesses. the other half are destiel induced and it would make worse

supernatural movie reboot but its a ghostfacers mockumentary about their attempt to make a “serious film” about sam and dean winchester. opens on ed and harry going “CUT!” and the camera pans to a guy that looks kind of like jared padalecki pulling off a party city wig. turns out the finale was actually part of the ghostfacer’s retelling of supernatural. Sam Dean and Castiel spend the entire movie chasing after ed and harry trying to stop the thing being made. (its a huge commercial success and they screen it at the destiel wedding)

i think cas and jack are unpredictable, wild-card gift-givers.

8 out of 10 gifts they give are useful, though slightly odd. cas makes them each a homemade swiss army knife that has some common monster-killing materials (eg silver), but doesn't quite fold all the way so the user risks getting stabbed when they pocket it.

1 out of 10 are deeply thoughtful gifts that will make the recipient (dean) cry. jack finds an old photo of dean and mary and has it professionally framed for him.

the remaining 1 out of 10 is bizarre and horrifying. cas finds a set of finger bones supposedly belonging to a long-dead monk known for his depth of supernatural knowledge. he puts them in a plastic bag and gives them to sam, suggesting sam grind them and brew them into a tea.
