You look down, and see the back of her hand against yours, [The Prodigal Sister begins playing.] Murph: But you can't turn around to look. Fia: I know this is just a dream, and you are just a figment of my mind, but-- Irina? Irina: Have you come to save me again, Fi? Fia: I-- I mean, I don't want to say I'm saving you, right, because that's kind of like a loaded thing, but I'm-- I just. The Guardians, they asked me to take care of you, and-- ah, to take care of you, that sounds patronizing to, I-- I'm just… I'm just worried about you. Fia: I-- Oh, my goodness gracious! Emily (narrating as Fia): Um, I-- I hug her. I like, put my little hands through her hair, I am just like-- Oh my g-- I touch her all over being like-- You're real. You're not a fiction of my dream! And I just say-- Fia: Oh my god, you're real.

Emily (narrating as Fia): I look up to Mister Hank. [Gunvar plays in the background.] Emily (narrating): and I look down at Irina, and I say-- Fia, crying: God, you were my fucking dream for so fucking long, but these people are my reality. And it is by your actions that one of them has died. And you tried to kill more of them. And I-- [sobs] will miss you so much. [Caldwell sobs in the background.] Fia, sobbing: But I-- [sobs] I cannot support this. Mister Henry, kill her.

Murph: You see, uh, she looks at Zirk. And her hands hit the grass, and she starts like-- spider crawling away. Irina: Nononononono. Fia: No! Stay here! Irina: Nononononono. Nonononono. Fia: What are you running away from? Irina, distressed: I did not do this! I am nn--! (breathes heavily) Fia, seriously: Irina. Your actions, or rather your sister's actions, led to this. At least stick around to try to right it. Irina: Fi, it was as if-- it was as if I was... outside of my own body. Fia: I know. I know it wasn't yo-- Irina, with increasing intensity: And everything made sense. I was angry, and I was right. I was just right. Someone was mad at me, and they were wrong, and they deserved to die. And they were just wrong, Fi. But it wasn't real, Fi. Fia: I know. Irina: It was a dream, Fi. Fia: It wasn't a dream! Irina: It was like a dream. Fia: Irina, it may have felt like a dream to you but it had very real repercussions to us! Anger is a fucking drug! You took a fucking drug, and now there are fucking consequences to deal with!

Ooh how about top 5 Emily moments for each PC (i.e. top moonshine moment, top fia moment, etc etc) because we know Emily is incredible and can do no wrong!

Real and true. I’ll do like 2 moments for each naddpod pc and then it’ll be like 10 moments lol. Full disclosure: this is long as hell.

Moonshine:

“You can be quick with kindness, too” and then grabbing Bev and jumping off into the Astral Sea. That whole thing, where she was trying to understand Thiala despite knowing she likely couldn’t be reasoned with. An absolute peak of Moonshine. Holy shit.

Not to be the guy who brings up “how long do half elves live” at every opportunity. But it needs to be said. Because it’s also Moonshine grappling with how her lifespan is going to work. Emily was never going to take 18 levels in druid, she didn’t want timeless body for Moonshine. But she got it. And then there’s this poignant moment where she’s grappling with everything that will mean to the only other person she knows has or will experience it. Moonshine doesn’t fear death. But she doesn’t want to live in a world without her family and friends. And that’s why it matters. Plus the hardshine of it all.

Fuck it, third one. The conversation with Deadeye. She saves him. She’s the catalyst that stops him from continuing a spiral he’d been part of for possibly 100 years. And he stopped her from going down a similar path, which was Brennan’s plan when he made the character. The Cybin siblings are something that can be so personal.

Fia:

“Maybe I don’t want to be her sister, okay!” Fia was closed off to the other third mates in a lot of ways. She was never hiding anything deliberately, she just kept a lot of feelings close to her chest. She hadn’t had friends in years. Blurting this out to Hank and Zirk was her last wall crumbling and a moment of true trust. Plus like the beauty of girlhood friends falling in love wlw wish fulfillment.

“You were my fucking dream for so fucking long. But these people are my reality. And it is by your actions that one of them has died, and you tried to kill more of them. And I will miss you so much. But I, I cannot support this. Mr. Henry. Kill Her.” Truly an Emily moment of all time. The beauty. The cold hearted commitment. The sobs from both her AND Caldwell.

Tarragon:

Only gonna do one here because she’s in so few episodes. The atonement to help redeem Moxora at the end of Cerenysus. “She may have rotted but she’ll make good soil”. Devastating.

Billie:

Also gonna do one here because of the shortness of her time. Her insane antics in the Grimdung/Beeto cave fight. Trying to convince Grimmy that she was worth more than his allegiance to the cause. Being completely wrong about his thought process. And the interactions with Hank and Zirk during that fight. Too fun.

Onyx:

Pretending to be Porker Harris for the entire Merry Metal Mayhem two shot. Insane choice. She was dressed as him dead I think actually. And tried to convince Sonic that she was him. The triplets are too good.

Befriending KT. Getting her plane seat upgraded while sitting in the bad seats. Asking for her opinion on everything. So dumb. So incredible.

Callie:

Fucking. Crown of Dreams. Right at the end. She finally isn’t confused or a nannerfly. And she takes a turn to Lay on Hands Sol (who was 2 death save failures in the hole and it really felt like Caldwell’s skin of his teeth luck had finally run out) and then casts compelled duel on Ultrus to save Glen. Gets me every time. God what an episode.

Little strange, but when they’re fighting the Bronzebeards and that guy who was controlling people with the worms in the woods on the way to Irondeep. She like climbs up something, Fey Steps, attacks or casts a spell, then asks Hardwon to catch her. And Hardwon “nods like he’s seen this kind of bullshit before”. Just a very fun moment.

So sorry for going off like that. Hope people enjoy reading this insane list lmao

i’m continually fascinated by the themes of parents and children in naddpod......it’s moonshine learning that she can’t and doesn’t want to be her mother as much as she loves her, it’s moonshine learning that your genes don’t define you; it’s hardwon learning he’s more than an orphan and his parents were flawed people who did the best they could, that his father is just a shittier version of hardwon, not someone to be deified; it’s bev stepping out from under the shadow of his father and living for himself rather than to please someone who’s never satisfied, a father who isn’t half as strong as his son; it’s fia trying to forgive her father for the unforgivable; it’s zirk standing up to his manipulative con artist mother and trying to correct the wrongs she’d done by searching for the REAL answers instead of the false ones she claimed to have; it’s henry learning that once you’re a parent your choices don’t exist in a vacuum and by looking out for himself he screwed up his son, and [under the cut for spoilers]

henry living his life over and over and over again because he failed a girl he looked at like a daughter. 

it is not lost on me that he ran from hank jr and failed him the way he failed olette - though at least hank jr did not die for it. and it is also notable that fia and zirk are not much older than hank jr, at 22/23 years old to hank jr’s late teens, and fia and zirk are presumably about the age olette/seranices (don’t @ me i’m sure i’m spelling that wrong) was when she came on board henry’s ship and confided in him. 

there is a version of this story where it makes sense for henry’s character arc to end in his death, to save seranices, or to save fia and zirk. i don’t know that this WILL happen because it’s something i almost think jake and murph would need to discuss beforehand (it’s hard to permadie in 5e, even in a world with no revivify) but i’m just saying henry’s death WOULD be a satisfying end to his story. i don’t WANT hank to die but i would not feel cheated out of what “should have” been if he were to bite it in the end
