Literally as soon as RGG introduced Morning Glory Orphanage they just went RIGHT HARUKA IS THE MOTHER FIGURE despite her BEING AROUND THE SAME AGE OR NOT MUCH OLDER THAN THE OTHER KIDS AND STILL BEING YOU KNOW A CHILD. And then as soon as she was legally an adult they went you know what let's have her get laid ONE TIME and IMMEDIATELY GET PREGNANT AND HAVE A BABY BECAUSE WE HAVE TO HAVE ONE OF THE ONLY IF NOT THE ONLY LONG TERM FEMALE CHARACTER CONTINUE TO BE IN A MOTHER ROLE RATHER THAN LITERALLY ANYTHING ELSE WHEN SHE'S SO YOUNG AND BARELY HAD A CHANCE TO LIVE
Yeah... Yeah they did 😭

I truly believe that bob katter clip has him rounding the entire political spectrum:
First off, he starts with some vaguely liberal, humanitarian-minded sentiment about personal freedoms:
"well, everyone's entitled to their sexual proclivities"
Then, he remembers that being a moderate is lame, and labor is better at being moderates than he is, so he turns sharply left and attempts to quote Mao:
"let a thousand blossoms bloom"
Then, he remembers that he represents a conservative electorate and he needs to get off this egalitarian train:
"but I ain't spending any more time on it"
and finally, he remembers the only thing keeping him in and the Nats out is he's able to deliver on local concerns for north queensland, so he needs a local problem to fix:
"because every 3 months, a person is torn to pieces by a crocodile in north queensland"
He's a liberal, he's a maoist, he's a conservative, he's a true local representative. Katter believes in everything at once.

someone: [posts a weird, reductive, and simply not very good take, against which it would be tempting but ultimately pointless to argue]
me, scrolling past: people are entitled to their opinions. I mean, let there be a thousand blossoms bloom as far as I'm concerned. but I ain't spending any time on it. because in the meantime, every three months, a person is torn to pieces by a crocodile in north queensland.
[inspired by this]

that video of the australian politician talking about gay marriage all sweetly (let there be a thousand blossoms bloom) and then growing all serious with "but i aint spending any time on it because in the meantime every three months a person is torn to pieces by a crocodile in North Queensland" is just Ulder Ravengard to me.

Blatantly Partisan Party Review XVII (federal 2022): Katter’s Australian Party
Running where: QLD—one ungrouped below-the-line candidate for the Senate and four candidates for the House in the Divisions of Dawson, Herbert, Kennedy, and Leichhardt
Prior reviews: federal 2013, federal 2016, federal 2019
What I said before: “KAP might be superior to the fundamentalist religious nutbag parties, but that is a very low bar indeed.”
What I think this year: Let there be a thousand blossoms bloom! It’s time to review Katter’s Australian Party and consider his policies to stop people being torn to pieces by crocodiles every three months in North Queensland.
Bob Katter is without question one of the most outlandish entertaining people on Australia’s political landscape. He is genuinely well liked throughout much of his electorate, where he has strong community engagement, including with local Indigenous people. On the other hand he is an astonishingly bigoted man who would like every trigger-happy Australian teenager to have access to a gun at school (no, really).
The party is pretty much just a vehicle to secure Bob’s re-election as the Member for Kennedy, but they have candidates in three of Queensland’s other lower house seats and, curiously, one below-the-line candidate for the Senate. Rather strange they couldn’t rope in a second person so they could get a box above the line.
When you visit the website, you are greeted by pictures of Australian flags and men in big hats. This photo of KAP’s four sitting state and federal MPs in big hats and holding even bigger flags is pure undistilled Katterism in visual form. Dig a bit further and you find a reasonably comprehensive policy platform.
For those of us on the left, KAP has a few things to like and a lot to detest. The party’s economic policies maintain a long regional tradition of agrarian socialism. KAP emphasises support for a “modern mixed market” where the government owns essential services such as transport, electricity, and water, and intervenes to stop monopolies and oligopolies in other sectors. But they are also in favour of destructive environmental activities and resource extraction, and their policies for gun ownership are frankly dangerous. There is ahistorical piffle about Australia being founded on “Christian values”: please, read a history book. Their desire for a larger Australian population is clearly only for a locally-born one, with women expected to bear and raise more kids for the nation; KAP would also restrict migration, so migrants are not part of this vision for a Big Australia. Moreover, KAP is still banging a drum that marriage should only be for heterosexual couples. Move on, fellas.
Anyway, I ain’t spending any more time on it; make your day better and revisit the most Katter of all Katter videos.
My recommendation: Give Katter’s Australian Party a weak or no preference.
