I've been reading and watching some promotional stuff for the new Finnish production of Så som i himmelen, and I gotta say... unfortunately, I get the vibe that some of the key players don't 100% understand what the musical is about?

First, the director said he thinks the musical is about people accepting each other despite having different opinions, which is an important message to send in our polarized society. And? I simply don't see where he is coming from?? I just don't think Så som i himmelen is about that. If anything, I think it's pro-polarization – you either approve of Daniel and receive him into your heart to bask in the salvation he brings, for he is the Messiah embrace the change he represents, or you're literally a bad person and/or an outcast.

And today, I watched a video where the choreographer talked about the Eurovision vibes he's bringing into the show. And? My fellow devotee of Thalia?? Just because Fredrik Kempe has also composed several ESC entries doesn't mean Så som i himmelen is... in any shape or form... a Eurovision musical...

Tbh, I don't know if I even want to see this production at all by this point.

#like. sure. I guess a couple of SSIH's songs might do okay as Eurovision entries if you tweaked them a little #but the musical's story and setting are the furthest you can get from the ESC aesthetic #so I really have no idea what is going on there #anyway. does the choreographer know Kempe has also composed a musical that's literally about taking part in Melodifestivalen?#maybe he should suggest that the theatre do that next #also re: polarization #the thing is that at first everyone in the village gets or pretends to get along – even when they really shouldn't!!#they turn a blind eye to Conny's violence and Arne's bullshit and don't tell Lena the truth about her boyfriend to preserve the status quo #but they learn that sometimes you gotta rock the boat and disturb the status quo and be a lil polarized because it's the right thing to do #ugh!! I really have no idea what's going on with this production #Så som i himmelen #Finnish musical theatre

So I'm listening to the Starkid Homecoming album and I just wanted to say God bless AJ Holmes for writing the Twisted and MAMD soundtracks to need a full band.

Those musicals need full bands, so Starkid had to get the 13 piece orchestra, and since the orchestra is there they might as well play on all the songs right?? Yes. Thank god.

I could talk about this all day but THE USE OF THE FULL BAND ON SONGS THAT DIDNT HAVE IT BEFORE IS SO AUGHHHH. Full band Status Quo almost killed me. Like genuinely I started melting into my chair when I heard it the first time.

Not just full band Status Quo, but ALL THE HORNS IN THE TGWDLM MEDLEY AUGHHHH The horns on Join Us just HIT DIFFERENT
