AHHH how was beyoncé?!!!!!!! I saw her in LA + she rocked my world. never seen a concert execute a concept that beautifully and never have i heard someone fucking SING like her. what a beautiful life we live :) :) :)
GOD!!!!!!!!! she was incredible. she was amazing. i spent the entire time going oh my god. this is the most talented woman in the world. the most artistic beautiful talented charismatic smart woman in the world. she's such an incredibly captivating presence ive quite literally never seen anything like it. she's got such a command of the space in a way ive never seen an artist have. and it's just SUCH a well thought out show. you are so aware the entire time that she is Beyonce. and she is the only one. like i walked out and i was like. oh my god. she is literally the only pop star in the world. she is the only pop star of my lifetime. this is like if the beatles were good. this is like being an 18 year old girl in the front row for elvis. and the entire thing is SO seamless. i didn't know anything about the show going in and i still dk what other setlists are/were but she opened with this very slow song with someone on piano and walked out in the beautiful gauzy dress and hood and she looked so incredible. she sounded so incredible. and it HIT me all at once that she is the best to ever do it and always will be. like. any show of hers would change your life forever. her worst performance would be any other artist's top 5 performances. anyone else's best performance is an average beyonce show on a tuesday in the middle of nebraska. quite literally performer of a lifetime. (knows shes a multimillionare) i should give her some walking around money. Like i get it now i understand everything about stan twitter i would do the stupid streaming tricks to bump her up in the charts i would put MET BEYONCE X1 !!!!! in bio i owul.d. oh my god. changed my life forever. if she tours again i WILL be there

I see people bringing up Nishiki slapping Reina so fucking often and I'm so fucking tired of it.
Let's get this out of the way first: was it good of Nishiki to hit Reina? Should he have done it? OF FUCKING COURSE NOT. While violence is the answer to a not negligible amount of problems, here, it WASN'T.
HOWEVER.
People tend to act as though Reina was a poor uwu victim who didn't do anything wrong. So lemme explain the situation here:
1) Nishiki just saw someone he cares about A LOT get sexually assaulted or even raped.
2) Nishiki just brutally killed his boss because of an emotional / trauma reaction to witnessing said assault and was very shaken up by it, having collapsed to his knees when Kiryu arrives.
3) His brother just took the fall for it and will have to go to prison for a very long time.
4) Sawamura disappears from the hospital, leaving Nishiki with most of his support network gone in the blink of a fucking eye.
5) He goes to update Reina on the situation and she starts screaming at him, accusing him of being weak and useless, of failing her by not being able to protect Sawamura and Kiryu.
Great fucking reaction on her part, isn't it? He's just lost two of his siblings at once and she is telling him that it's his fault. Yes, Reina probably didn't mean it like that, but she still says it. And when Nishiki interrogates her on it, she doesn't retract it.
It's not helping that Nishiki's mental stability is already shot to shit because of various pressures, such as an important surgery for Yuko coming up, Kazama's clear favouritism, Kashiwagi's distance.
I reiterate: NISHIKI GETTING VIOLENT WAS BAD. HE SHOULDN'T HAVE DONE THAT.
And he apparently does slap her quite hard. But he also immediately regrets it, looking at his hand with shock. As someone who not only has a lot more physical strength than Reina and is in organised crime and is thus the stronger party in the power imbalance, it was his responsibility to try and counteract the power imbalance by restraining himself. And he failed at that.
My point is that Reina said what I consider to be unforgivable things, even if she didn't mean them. And she knows this because when Nishiki confronts her, she is scared. She knows she fucked up. Yet she doesn't try to retract her accusations or to reformulate what she feels.
They're both horrible in this interaction and this is why I don't like them as a pairing. Reina clearly is way over her head in the Yakuza world. Which is perfectly fine, not everyone can deal with it, in fact I'd wager that most people can't, yet she both involves herself in it and is involved in it by others. And then she deals with being exposed to the dark sides of the yakuza world by toxically unleashing it, here on Nishiki.
Another thing I don't like is the "he hit a woman because she hurt his feelings he isn't an uwu baby". Oh, so it would have been fine if Reina had been a man? No it wouldn't have. Why bring gender into this? Either say that no one deserves to be hurt or say that everyone deserves to get slapped every once in a while.
Let all genders be slapped and let all genders slap. All or nothing, cmon.

one of my coworkers who I hated just got fired recently, so I will now make a list of all the terrible things hes done while working here
-being the direct cause of a little girl almost drowning (we work at a children’s swim lessons program)
-showing up to work while high more often than not
-bringing weed and his vape pen thingy into work almost every time, has smoked and vaped in the actual lifeguard office, which is a tiny space where we keep all of our LIFESAVING EQUIPMENT which is NOT SAFE TO SMOKE NEAR IT
-refusing to get in the water to actually teach his swim lessons, for the sole reason of he had his vape pen in his swim trunks pocket (which was completely redundant to wear if he never got in the water??? I think he just wanted a reason to be shirtless bc he was always bragging about how often he went to the gym and worked out, like it would be the only thing he would talk about)
-bragging about how many holes he’s punched in his wall, and also bragging about how he shoplifted a knife from a store, talking about how much jail time he would’ve gotten if he was caught
-throwing Slim Jims into the pool (not necessarily dangerous, but just very stupid)

god i know that complaining abt fic which most of you haven't read, and which i won't, for politeness' sake, identify in this post, is a great way to come across as both dickish and boring—
but i've been rereading a very long, very satisfyingly plotty series that's a fandom darling and the thing is, when you read like 400k of an author's work at once it really starts to become painfully apparent what their priorities are, by which i mean two things:
holy shit they're obsessed with 'what if strong powerful men who could hurt you didn't (but did hurt Bad Guys) (and it was sexy of them),' which leads into
holy shit they do not appear to have thought through the implications of saying 'i will have my heroes take over the same power structures that have enabled abuse, make no real changes to those structures other than swapping out the leadership, and then claim that everything is wonderful now bc Good Men Are In Charge'??
like. i don't necessarily need every passing fantasy to present me with a coherent, revolutionary system of politics and ethics—sometimes things are just fun and sexy and not especially Examined and that's fine!—but by the time someone's written literally almost half a million words, and done a lot of worldbuilding while they were at it, i am going to start squinting if they seem to think a Good Man can e.g. become an emperor by killing off the leadership of multiple countries and installing puppet kings loyal to him and still remain a Good Man, even if the justification was that the original leadership was maltreating its citizens and deserved to be extrajudicially executed. like. this shit was a bad, autocratic move when the US did it in real life and it's still bad now that you're having our mutual blorbo do it in fiction!
and that's not even getting into the whole thing where like. they've got servants who the Good Man and his friends ""treat well"" but who very much remain second-class citizens in terms of how the story actually frames them and their concerns. [this was also a huge issue i had with foz m*adows' most recent book—everyone wants to write about fantasy nobles but they also want to make them good people and it's like. honestly i think it might be better to get comfortable writing about flawed people, but also—if your aristos aren't treating their servants like equals and your text isn't either, you haven't actually cracked the Moral Aristo paradox, sorry!] like, there's nothing that says your story has to depict a fully Healed World, nor should there be! but it's troubling if you seem to be convinced you've written one (and have your wide-eyed love interests constantly marveling at it!) when you very patently haven't.
