Okay so...
I feel like KiriBaku will just became The Ship™️ of My Hero Academia, mostly because I see most everyone accepting it based on their interactions.
But just in case there are any reservations, I personally want to point out some things.
First and foremost, I would like to mention I am certified to make these claims because I have a degree in "Everything is a dick, and everything is about sex, and everyone is gay." In other words, an English degree where I have spent hours and days on end analysing every single line of a book and come up with an interpretation of it (The door was not red because it signified red-hot passion. It was red because it was just god damn red, for fucks sake!)
Anyway. Now that my unnessesary but nessesary egotistical claim is out of the way, here is why KiriBaku is (at least) the most narratively canon gay ship. ***Obligatory warning that this will get long***
*Spoilers*
1) Concepts to Canon. Kirishima was originally said to apply to UA to impress Mina. But as we can see, that changed. We see very minimal interactions between them. Even in the manga (I am a manga reader fyi) So honestly, I don't think Horikoshi kept that interest interest as part of Kirishima's character. Hell there are more cute interactions between Mina and Aoyama than Kiri and Mina. And coming from the writer's perspective, someone who is in the process of writing and drafting her own material for publication and creating her own characters, I can see Horikoshi's own writing process when designing the characters. I can especially see a reason for ditching the interest in Mina. I can sum it up I four words: It simply didn't click. Something I had experienced 1st hand was scraping the idea of a female love interest for my main character because I something just didn't feel right about it. It would have been forced and I would have gotten nowhere with my story. So when I discovered that my main character was gay, everything fell into place and I was able to move on with a concept that worked. So that may be had happened with Kirishima towards Bakugou.
2) World Building. I know this is Shonen, so romance is not the main focus. But honestly, MHA could be considered a slice of life/school life anime at times. And what do normal school-age students do? Have crushes and date. To the MHA crew, this is their normal. Their life. It's not like, say, Assassination Classroom where the idea of training to kill their teacher is a normal concept. No. Those kids were thrown into it, so their mindset changes a bit to adapt to that special situation. MHA, being a hero is just another profession they can study to become. Just like a doctor or lawyer. Yeah they get roped into the something big, but under everything, this would be their life once they become heros. One thing I have particularly noticed is Horikoshi's attention to detail when it comes to his world building. The way it appears to me, it seems as though the story moves forward based on his complex characters interacting with their world rather than them jusy being placed into it. Probably doesn't make much sense. But it's there (Kiri ordering night vision goggles for a rescue mission, a kid being turned into a meme in response to Endeavor's fight, Todoroki and his brother savagly slurping noodles, Recovery Girl offering a Snickers to students after training. Those types of things.) These little things are unnecessary, but are still included. Long-winded way to get to my point. Whose to say that the MHA kids can't find a chance to go on dates on off days, develop crushes organically based on hanging out with each other and training? Their world allows something like that to exist simultaneously with the danger they face.
3) Horikoshi's subtle progressiveness. I always use this point every time I talk about KiriBaku. There are already two confirmed Lgbtq+ characters who are legit characters and not written off as joke characters. Tiger and Magne are both trans. One is a hero. One is a villian. Horikoshi seems to include that fact to show that a trans person can be either side, instead of either being simply good or simply bad (or a joke that so many series tend to do.) I'm not going into the problematic part of Hori killing off Magne, because that's a different rant. The point of this is saying that there is a possibility, based on that point, that someone from the main cast would be gay. Because, like I mentioned in the previous point, this is their normal world. I know homosexuality is usually played off as comic relief, but I feel as though Horikoshi wouldn't do that, based on the world he's built. Tiger and Magne were accepted by their peers with no one saying anything about it. So I doubt any homosexual moments will be treated like comic relief. Which brings me to my next point.
4) Kirishima and Bakugou's steady relationship build up. I am not going to go too into detail about their relationship, but I will give a general gist. These two have had the most character development between the two of them. Even more than Bakugou and Deku. It's slow, but natural. They go from negative first impressions to being pretty much joined at the hip. Bakugou, as we've seen, presents us with a certain way to determine his opinion of characters: names. If he doesn't care for them, he calls them nicknames or "extras" yet when he has respect for them, he calls them by name. Kirishima is arguably the first one to gain Bakugou's upmost respect. Started from the USJ, then the sports festival, all the way to Kamino and post that. This is a fact Deku, good old insightful, analytical Deku, has pointed out when they rescued Bakugou. Deku knows how Bakugou is, so the fact he picked up on how Bakugou has changed says something. Not to mention all the promotional art of them (Google some. They are always paired and next to each other.) They are so close that Kirishima seems to know Bakugou's SUIT-SIZE. Listen. I talked with the guys from my friend group. And even if they act gay around each other all the time, they all agree that Kirishima knowing Bakugou's measurements is a bit too much for them to just be best friends. It's one thing to get matching t-shirts. It's a whole different monster when it comes to to formal wear. And if that doesn't say anything, the fact Kirishima got himself a normal looking suit yet took one look at a vest covered in white roses and thought "gee that would look great on Bakugou" says something. And the kicker is he didn't even do it ironically. He didn't do it for a joke to humiliate Bakugou, he was serious about it and got it because he KNEW Bakugou wouldn't bring one. They've only known each other for half a term at this point, and Kirishima already knew what to expect. THAT says something. Without going too much into it, the moments when Bakugou shows concern for Kirishima. Bakugou is still an ass to his classmates, yet shows he does deeply care about his friends.
Thanks for reading my little word vomit post. Where was I going with this long-ass response? More or less, KiriBaku has the most narrative support for the ship and it is because of the world in which they live in. Hopefully it made sense 😅

BnHA Chapter 207: Close Encounters of the 4th Set
Previously on BnHA: Honenuki, Tetsutetsu, Todoroki and Iida were all put out of commission in one fell swoop. Seeing as Sen and Ojiro were already captured, this left the fate of teams A and B riding on Shouji and Pony’s respective shoulders. Although Pony succeeded in keeping her fallen teammates out of Shouji’s hands, she wasn’t able to get Shouto over to the Rat Principal Jail before time ran out. As a result the battle ended in a draw, which means that the classes are still tied with one win each. Over in Recovery Girl’s office, Iida and Todoroki took turns blaming themselves, but in the end the two of them renewed their determination to become heroes who put everyone at ease and rush to the rescue of anyone who needs it. Also they’re now best friends with Honenuki. Meanwhile back at Ground Gamma, the fourth set is finally about to begin, Tokage from class B is looking to kick some ass, and my son Kacchan is eager to start showing off for his excited green boyfriend. I am hyped.
Today on BnHA: Team BakuJirouSeroSatou takes on Team TokaBondoAwaKama as round 4 begins. We briefly check in with the audience, where Vlad King is being loudly biased toward 1-B and All Might is being quietly biased toward 1-A. We then cut to Team A who are obediently following Bakugou’s lead despite some obligatory grumbling on their behalf. Bakugou wants to go straight in for the kill, and the strategy is for him to take point while the others hold the rear and Jirou keeps her earjacks peeled for trouble. Trouble does indeed find them before long, as Tokage attacks with her self-amputation quirk, which allows her to split her body up into small pieces that can float around independently to do recon and harass people and so forth. Anyway, so while she’s out there pestering Bakugou, Bondo shows up and uses his “can spit out glue everywhere” quirk to trap the others. Bakugou blasts them free with an explosion, but it leaves them exposed, and Kamakiri from B Team leaps in to attack Jirou with his “can make swords from any part of his body” quirk. Or at least he tries. But before he can actually hit Jirou, Bakugou jumps in to save her. Because didn’t you know? The best heroes are the ones who both win and rescue, and we love character development here in BnHA.
(As always, all comments not marked with an ETA are my mostly-unspoiled reactions from my first readthrough of this chapter. I’m caught up with the manga now at chapter 223, so any ETAs will reflect that.)
wow, Colander Man
Tumblr media
and Bakugou is what. chopped liver? not to mention poor Satou. you do know he’s another physical powerhouse right?
ah, Awase is jumping in now to defend their honor
Tumblr media
I knew I liked you for a reason Awase. aside from you saving Momo and Bakugou’s lives
oh hey, it’s this guy!
Tumblr media
I’ve been wanting to know more about him for ages! it looks like he shares a personality with Bakugou, which means I instantly love him. that says a lot of things about me, doesn’t it. whatever guys, it’s a manga!
hey what the hell is Tokage’s deal anyway though
Tumblr media
like, what is this little scale thing that she seems to be floating. goddammit. I’m so curious about her and I already love her and it’s confusing
oh hey, interesting
Tumblr media
this is the first time we’ve seen a map of the field. I wonder if that means it’s gonna be important to this match. imagine if one of the class A teams actually tried a strategy!
...okay that’s mean, and not quite fair to the first group (even if they did get in on the strategizing game pretty late), and then to Momo specifically and only Momo. but everyone else kind of just flailed around. I’m starting to think they might actually have gotten too used to having to adapt and react to things instead of being more proactive
anyway, Vlad is going on to say that class A’s one and only win was mostly due to Shinsou, and I have to say, he’s not wrong. however, he forgot to say “only win up until now.” key point there, Vlad King
lmao now Kami, Kiri, Aoyama, and Tokoyami (though he’s mostly silent but you can feel his support) are booing him
and Aizawa’s telling them to cut it out lol
Tumblr media
what are you, picketing him?
oh Aizawa you’re so sensible as always
Tumblr media
you see guys this is what I said. you haven’t really brought your A-game so far. well except for you Kaminari
noooo now he’s all “looks like Vlad’s teaching skills were a cut above my own” and his kids look PHYSICALLY PAINED
how is he such a good teacher, though?? like, this is the most gentle scolding, and he’s even shouldering the blame himself, but he makes it so effective somehow. he knows exactly how to hit them where it hurts without being cruel or hurting their confidence
and just saying, unlike a certain other teacher, he knows how to rein his students in when they start to get petty
Tumblr media
Vlad? you out there? hello?
by the way has Monoma’s tie always had that weird black spot pattern on it?? that’s weird
(ETA: yeah I’m clearly not very observant lol)
lol at least class A has one person unabashedly on their side
Tumblr media
THAT’S BECAUSE THOSE ARE HIS CHILDREN
plus, look, Midnight. everyone loves class A. they are plucky and determined and a couple of them have broken wings but they are on the mend and ready to rise from those ashes and kick ass and save the world and okay but frankly the idea of anyone not loving them is just absurd. in fact I would argue that class B has been performing so well today precisely because they’re up against class A and they just naturally bring out the best in everyone
but yeah it’s also just because they’re his kids. and mine, as it just so happens! Katsuki where are you though
Tumblr media
(ETA: okay but lmao at All Might being all “I love everyone equally” and then not one panel later thinking to himself “GO ON AND FUCK THEM UP, YOUNG BAKUGOU.”)
;____; oh, cool. it’s okay. I’m cool. it’s just All Might thinking to himself about how he’s expecting great things of Katsuki. even though he is not his successor and he has not invested anything into him. meaning I can take this as confirmation that he really has adopted him in spite of that. he didn’t think ‘I’m expecting great things of you, young heroes!’ or anything generic. he specifically thought about Bakugou. the kid he’s chosen to be Izuku’s partner. okay guys actually it’s not okay and I’m not cool but I’m gonna shut up and keep reading!!
Tumblr media
my boy always here to bring me back to reality. oh how I love you
soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo slow! SLOWPOKES! !!!
lmao teamwork
Tumblr media
in all honesty watching Bakugou’s leadership in action is always fascinating to me. because it works in defiance of all expectations. everyone’s always complaining about what an asshole he is, but they can also see that he pushes himself just as hard as anyone else. he’s tough, but he’s also fair. he won’t ask anything of someone that he wouldn’t also ask of himself. and because his classmates understand that, they’re willing to follow him
so here they are all grumbling about his attitude, and yet they’re going along with it all the same
Tumblr media
lmao Bakugou you really have set the bar for cooperation quite low. good job on tempering those expectations kid
so now we’re flashing back to their planning session
Tumblr media
that’s not much of a plan Katsuki. WHY ARE ALL OF MY SONS SO STUPID. hopefully his improved self-awareness will kick in and he’ll listen if the others make suggestions
(ETA: I’m sorry kiddo, I underestimated you. it was a simple plan, but effective. “go out and kick their asses and watch each other’s backs.” but what really made it work is the fact that he took point and they let him coordinate them. that’s something all of the other A Teams lacked aside from Momo’s team, and she unfortunately got cut off from the others. basically, the lesson to take away here is that good leadership can make all the difference in a situation like this.)
also interesting to see the hierarchy at work here lol. so these guys are “underlings” and “punks”, but meanwhile the enemy are “small fries.” not even deserving of more acknowledgement than that, huh
hmm, I’m not sure who’s right here tbh
Tumblr media
I know Bakugou has never been the type to sit and wait, and he thrives on improvisation almost as much as Deku when it comes to strategy. but I do feel like if they had taken the time to make a plan to set up some sort of trap, it could have been really good
on the other hand, their team is powerful enough to make “attack head-on” a valid strategy as well. or so it would seem. but we all saw how that worked out in the previous match, though. so far pretty much every class A team has underestimated class B, and that’s proven to be a mistake
anyways I guess we’ll see!
and now it looks like he’s spotted someone up ahead, and he’s calling for the others to hold up
lol
Tumblr media
yeah he knows you have a name, it’s Ears!
(ETA: and in fairness, the Japanese word for “ears” is “mimi” and I think it’s an adorable nickname tbh. I will be sad if he ever stops calling her this.)
at least he’s making effective use of her quirk though. maybe he does have a strategy
oh hell yesssssss look at Jirou being a total badass
Tumblr media
the amount of mental processing that must be in play here with her having to identify all these sounds and distinguish them from one another and identify their sources and figure out where they are in relation to her is frankly incredible. it almost overwhelms me just thinking about it, so I can’t imagine what it’s like for her. much respect for Jirou, and Shouji too for that matter
but Bakugou is getting impatient and telling her to hurry it up
she’s saying “wait...”
oh shit
Tumblr media
lol did you all fuck up somehow
oh damn
Tumblr media
nothing to see here, just a floating disembodied mouth chilling out behind Bakugou
how come the others didn’t spot it if it was between him and the rest of them?
dude what the hell
Tumblr media
TOKAGE YOUR QUIRK IS FREAKING ME OUT. WHERE ARE YOU. COME OUT HERE AND EXPLAIN THIS TO ME YOUNG LADY
how did the mouth know to dodge him. it’s only a mouth. how can it see or hear or have spatial awareness. why would you send a mouth out to spy on someone, out of all the body parts you could possible send
so apparently Tokage’s quirk is called “self-amputation.” clearly one of those quirks that’s actually much, much better than it sounds lmao
Tumblr media
see, the eye makes sense though. I get that she can move her body parts independently, but how does it work when a mouth can somehow see stuff? or is the eye just floating high enough that it can see all the other parts so she knows where to move them?
(ETA: maybe this just works like Mighty Wings and Pony’s quirk and I should just stop questioning it sob.)
and now Bakugou is being pelted by a bunch of disembodied Pieces of Tokage
Tumblr media
jury’s still out on whether I find this quirk cool or terrifying, but I will let you know when we come to a decision!
so Katsuki is thinking that they don’t pack much of a punch but they’re annoying because the targets are too small to hit
meanwhile Sero is setting up some sort of tape perimeter which doesn’t look like it would be even remotely effective, but they seem to have confidence in it lol
Tumblr media
“there. now class B, you stay on your side of the stage, and we’ll stay on our side”
and now part of Tokage’s head is again shouting, “okay, all done!”
what is all done??
OH SNAP
Tumblr media
CLASS B HAS A GLUE MAN?? COLANDER MAN, YOUR QUIRK WAS GLUE?! HOW DO THE CLASS B QUIRKS KEEP GETTING EVEN MORE AWESOME
so now the glue is dripping off of Sero’s tape barricade and they look pretty stuck. shit
Colander man says this was all due to Tokage’s plan
Tumblr media
Bondo is such a great name. reminds me of Sero’s. straight up Engrish. I love it. and that is a damn convenient quirk
and here comes the Bakuclone now to enter the fray
Tumblr media
isn’t this the same quirk as that lame doped-up mobster guy that Kiri beat in the Basement arc, before we got to the basement part of it? aww. I’m actually a little disappointed here; not that it isn’t a cool quirk, but when you’re competing with guys who can physically manifest onomatopoeia and shoot fucking glue at people and melt anything they touch, that sets the bar pretty high as far as creativity
wow, class A really managed to get themselves into quite the... sticky situation. ahaha. why are you looking at me like that
Tumblr media
what even was the tape barrier supposed to do other than get in their way to begin with though
now Satou’s doing something inexplicable
Tumblr media
protect them how, by miming that you’re in an invisible box??
oh thank fuck
Tumblr media
this is one of the funniest Bakugou panels I’ve ever seen by the way
just. the way he’s still getting the shit beat out of him by Tokage’s flying amputated body parts. the fact that he’s completely facing the opposite way from where he’s aiming for no apparent reason. what are you even doing
having said that, that’s some damn good control. to be able to blast the glue away while not hurting his friends, once again without sparing a fucking glance in their direction, apparently? damn, son
I bet you Jirou could have blasted it apart with her quirk though if he hadn’t stepped in
Tumblr media
fuck you, they didn’t need a shelter to begin with. and it’s better than being stuck in place and not being able to fight back at all
anyway so now he’s diving at them, and Tokage is shouting to take out Jirou first!
ooooooooooh
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
yes please omg!?!?!
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
Tumblr media
BAKUGOUUUUUUU
holy shit. he practically teleported there. he’s so fucking fast holy shit. class B never actually stood a chance did they??
also, Deku’s face though?? the way his jaw just dropped and he doesn’t even appear to have registered it? thank you manga gods for this glorious bounty oh shit
and now there are two bonus pages of BnHA smash featuring the Bakugou family oh lord what a blessed dayyyy
(ETA: I still gotta go back and do the rest of these which I forgot about from the previous chapters. you can clearly see where my biases lie since these are the only ones I didn’t skip lol.
also, this seems like a good place to put up my Mitsuki Disclaimer, which is that I love her but I understand that not everyone does, but I’d like to steer clear of any discourse about it if it’s all the same to everyone! my more in-depth thoughts about it are here just fyi.)
so first there’s a strip basically establishing the hierarchy in the family
Tumblr media
poor Masaru. I like to think he has a spine when it comes to the important things, though. but clearly he’s not very good at laying down the law
and next up is a strip about Katsuki and Mitsuki waging war and tearing the house apart
Tumblr media
(ETA: okay but can we all stop for a moment to appreciate that Mitsuki, who has no hero training and whose quirk is “glycerin sweat” which does absolutely nothing other than give her healthy glowing skin, nonetheless smashed a fucking table (??) to bits here with her fucking fist just cuz. new headcanon that Mitsuki was Rosa Diaz in a past life. what kind of woman doesn’t have an axe.)
ngl I like that she’s not intimidated by him. but “poor Masaru” certainly seems to be a running theme here
and lastly we have Katsuki angrily asking why his dad married her, only to instantly regret it as his dad nostalgically begins to reminisce about their romance
Tumblr media
the second panel with Katsuki’s “oh shit” attempts to abort once he realizes what he’s done is amazing omg
Masaru: [loudly] “AND THEN WE HAD SEX”
also their cute lil blushes in the third panel are adorable
I appreciate the text saying “treat him kindly” because seriously, Bakudad is a precious cinnamon roll and he deserves love and appreciation
anyways that’s all for today, tune in next time, kids. same Bakutime, same Bakuchannel

Dabi, Kirishima, Tsuyu, Chisaki being saved by their S/O
Tumblr media
Dabi
Now, since Dabi is an incredibly strong individual, he wouldn’t need the help of anyone, no matter how difficult or one-sided the fight might be, he always seems to win it with the help of his amazing blazing sapphire fire.
This time, however, he was to simply kill a low-rate Hero, but it was all a bait and he got attacked by Midnight, Myrko, the Hound dude and worst of all, the great All Might himself.
How could he escape now that he was surrounded by lots of high-ranking Pro-Heroes? Well, he had no idea, but he could only try his best to bluff his way out of there, as best as he could, knowing full-well that the League of Villains sent him on a suicide-mission. Frankly, he was pissed. This impediment made him miss his date with his S/O. They’re gonna be VERY angry.
Myrko: Any last words, villain? Dabi: *shrugs* My lover’s gonna kill me even if you don’t. Midnight: *confused* Huh? You have a lover? Dabi: Why, am I not allowed to?
But before anyone else could say anything, someone magically appeared behind the villain and smacked their head hard, glaring at him.
S/O: So that’s how you play villain, huh? Maybe next time you’ll listen to me and not that idiotic man-child Shigaraki who just wants to kill you! Dabi: *scratches the back of his neck* I think I realised that by now. S/O: You are SUCH a jerk, Dabi! First, you tell me to cook something, ‘cause, y’know, you’re tired of always going out or getting take out, and I say ‘Yeah, sure, I can try’. But what do you do, instead? You hang out with your silly group of heroes! Dabi: Oh, come on, babe, it’s not like I am doing this on purpose, okay? S/O: See if I care.  All Might: Who are you, miss/mister? A villain too? me: Me? A villain? *snorts* Don’t kid yourself. I’m just me and I only care about myself. I like to live, thank you very much. All Might: Uhh...Okay? me: Now, if you don’t mind, I have to take my fiance home and eat dinner together before it gets cold. Y’know, dinner doesn’t eat itself and as much as I’d want to, I can’t eat everything by myself.  All Might: I don’t think- me: I don’t want to be alone on the day of our 1 year engagement anniversary, y’know? It would be so...Tragic. All Might: Look, miss/mister, we can’t afford to- me: Ah, by the way, can I get your autograph on my scarf? Big fan. All Might: Uh, of course- me: Thanks! Now, honestly, if it wasn’t for the date we’ve been planning, I wouldn’t have bothered to come over here, but unfortunate situations happen and...Yeah, you get the gist. See ya!
With that, S/O teleported back behind Dabi, grabbed him by the wrist and teleported themselves back home before any of the Heroes could do anything. In fact, no Hero could actually do anything, having been dumbstruck by Dabi’s S/O’s weird behaviour.
Back home, Dabi could only laugh awkwardly and look at his beloved with a guilty expression.
Dabi: Fiance, huh~? S/O: You shut your mouth, Dabi. You know what you did. Dabi: Still, fiance doesn’t sound so bad, does it~? S/O: I swear to God, Dabi, if you don’t shut up- Dabi: The food’s getting cold, isn’t it? S/O: You little shit! Go eat out, I’m not letting you eat what what I cooked! Dabi: Awww, come on, babe, don’t be like that. S/O: No. You were a jerk and you still cling to that League of Idiots. Dabi: And if I leave them, will you let me eat? S/O: I’ll...Consider it. Dabi: And if I give you a kiss? S/O: You are still a major asshole...But I might forgive you.
Chuckling at how lovely his S/O was and low-key grateful that their Quirk was so amazing, they brought them into a loving embrace and kissed them passionately, thanking them for the great save. They may not be a Hero, but that night they surely became his Hero.
Tumblr media
Eijirou Kirishima
This sweet, manly cinnamon roll would do anything in his power to protect his S/O and the people who need him, since he is a HERO! One day, he thought it’d be nice for his paramour to meet his mentor, Fat Gum, and his senpai, Suneater, with which they hit off really well, so they were allowed to patrol the city together (Or, in other words, enjoy the city together as a sort of non-conventional date)
Everything was going well and they even managed to enjoy some ice-cream, before some threatening-looking villains started attacking the area, so Kirishima told his S/O to stay behind and tend to the citizens while he was to deal with the criminals.
Nodding at the red-head, they ran to take away the common folk to a safe place far away from the commotion, but when they returned, they saw Kiri in a horribly beaten up shape, despite being in his Ultimate Stage-Hardening, which meant that his Quirk was weak against theirs. This meant only one thing- Using their Quirk, she went into the mind of the buffest-looking villain and controlled him fight the other until everyone fell to the ground, unconscious. This kind of effort, however, was too much strain on their body so they fell on their knees coughing blood, completely drained of all energy.
S/O: Eiji, are you okay?! Kiri: Y-Yeah...I guess I took quite a beating there. How unmanly... S/O: Goodness, no, don’t say that! You helped me save all the innocents! You are their hero, the strong and manly Red Riot who saved everyone! Kiri: But I let you get hurt...And I got incapacitated. They beat me up real good there... S/O: No, don’t say that, sweetheart! If it weren’t for you, I couldn’t have saved them all by myself. Besides, that’s the reason why no hero goes out there alone, you know? There are times when your Quirk is weak against the enemy’s, just like Tokoyami’s is weak against Bakugo’s, you know? Kiri: Well...I guess you’re right, S/O... S/O: *winks* You’re my Hero, Red Riot! Kiri: You’re right! That sounds extra nice when you say it!
Saying that, Kirishima took his S/O’s hands in his own and dipped them down Tango-style, kissing them, not being able to stop himself from grinning or blushing lightly hearing his S/O acknowledging him.
The only amusing problem they faced the whole day after was how Fat Gum was always there to tease the heck out of Kirishima for having such a cute S/O and for being their Hero.
Tumblr media
Tsuyu Asai
Despite being a strong water-type Hero, Tsuyu was made to help evacuate a burning building because every Hero should be able to save civilians no matter the environment, since they cannot always afford to work in a place that is environmentally their forte.
So here she was, together with her beloved, planning a strategy so they could use their Quirks to the maximum capacity even in such a bad place, all while having close to no casualties.
Since she was very much like a frog, going inside the burning building would actively kill her, so her S/O would be a much better fit for the rescuing, while Tsu was to stay outside and jump on the walls to jump and use her tongue to get the victims on the ground, at the safe place.
Things were going well, the synergy between the two was amazing, until a bunch of petty villains came to attack the safe-place where the victims stayed, so Tsuyu had to fight them all while still protecting those in need.
Her S/O saw what was happening so she quickly rescued the other victims, thanking whatever deity out there that there were only 3 more to save, so they easily managed to get them out to the safe-zone before they jumped into the fight, completely obliterating the enemies while Tsu was taking care of the injured victims.
Tsu: Thanks for the help, S/O-chan. We really make a great team. Ribbit. S/O: I couldn’t have done it without you and your great plan, Tsu-chan! It’s amazing how you can keep calm and level-headed even when things get out of control! You’re amazing, love! Tsu: I can stay like that because I know I have you to rely on when I need it. S/O: Aww, Tsu-chan, you’re so sweet! I’m glad I can work with you. I know you always have my back and I can focus on the task this way.
Grinning at her cute girlfriend, she hugged her, kissing her forehead and rubbed noses together, which was their way of saying how much they love and appreciate each other.
Froppy only stuck her tongue out and held her hand, going to the mentors and accepting all the praise and positive comments on their great performance and quick-wit.
Tsu: You know, S/O, I really love you, but next time, please, let’s choose the water-based rescue program, okay? S/O: Oh, yes, I definitely agree with you. Tsu: I love you. Ribbit. S/O: I love you too, Tsu-chan~.

Chisaki Kai
Normally, with a Quirk so amazingly powerful like his, there would be no way in hell this guy could ever get in any real danger, but who knows how the World’s ways work?
Somehow, he got into this huge mess with both the Heroes and the League of Villains, which got him captured and injured with no seeming way of escaping - Not by himself, that it.
Seconds before he got injured, he managed to send a farewell message to his S/O, saying his thank yous for sticking up with him for all that time, despite being a difficult person, but what he did not know is that they hacked into his phone once, making it easy to find out his location, if they wanted to.
Clearly, Chisaki wouldn’t just date anyone, but would choose someone worthy of dating the leader of the Gangsters, someone witty and intelligent who maaaaybe has more than one ace in their sleeve that makes Chisaki look at them in wonder and smugness at his great choice.
It was probably the most difficult and tricky thing they did in their life, especially since they weren’t actively involved in any of that petty Hero vs Villain ordeal, but somehow, managed to get on that bus before anyone else could and quickly unstrapped him, helping him get out of there, alive.
Chisaki: What are you doing here, S/O? S/O: Rescuing you, of course. Chisaki: How did you find me? S/O: *smirks* Let’s cherish the day you find out everything about me, okay? If that day will ever happen, that is. Chisaki: *amused breathe* Of course. Remind me never to rely on all those idiots and just plan everything with you. S/O: We’ll see about that, love.
When they put his arm around their shoulder to help carry him out of there and into a safe place - Their own home, a nice and quiet little piece of Heaven that they both knew was safe and out of everyone’s eyes.
There, they laid Chisaki on a bed and with their Quirk, started healing all his injuries, a light-green water covering his wounds and gently healing them, not letting place for any nasty scar to form.
Chisaki: You are a true wonder, you know that, S/O? S/O: And I love hearing you say it every time I save you from whatever problem you are facing. Chisaki: You somehow manage to be able to do just about everything and even more than I can think of.  S/O: Well...This Quirk of mine is about the most special thing about me. Chisaki: No. The fact that you exist is a wonder itself. S/O: You flatter me, Chisaki, it’s not quite like you. Chisaki: It’s not every day that I almost die and I get saved by such a beautiful soul like you.
After all his injuries were healed, Chisaki looked deep into his beloved’s eyes, making them get rosy-cheeked and look away, smiling in appreciation since it’s not often when they hear Chisaki compliment them, but what was even more out of the ordinary was... Chisaki aggressively taking off his mask and kissing his lover with much fire and passion.
Chisaki: What would I do without you, Hacker boy/girl? S/O: *amused breathe* Die in a bus, I guess.

The morality scale of BnHA
Tumblr media
Heya Nonny, Alright, so this is one that has been sitting in my drafts for a while. So thanks for making me finally finish it :) And I'm going to be contrite again and start with: to me, BnHA is pretty complex when it comes to morality. Let me explain why I think so.
Mild spoiler warning for the manga (Chapter 133)
Who watches the Watchmen
So this is something @thekuroiookami noted in one of our chats, but  several of the underlying themes of BnHA are similar to the classic Alan Moore comic book The Watchmen (it was made into a movie, also). And I like to imagine Horikoshi knows of this comic, and that it is intentional. Watchmen, which I'm sure you can find all kinds of meta on, is about the fall of heroes. Specifically, super heroes. It's about responsibility, accountability. Who watches the Watchmen?
One of the central themes of that book is what it takes to be a hero. It’s about moral decisions. Should you strive for peace, and how many lives are you willing to put on the line for that. That kind of thing. Now Watchmen, is pretty heavy and almost depressing, so while BnHA has similar themes, the moral of Horikoshi's story is very different and so far more optimistic. What they have in common, in a big way, is that morality comes on a sliding scale. So while heroes in BnHA are, on the whole, a force for good, they are far from black and white.
Heroes and villains
Which makes it all the more interesting, that that is totally not how they're first introduced to us.
Tumblr media
We initially see the world entirely through the eyes of a young Izuku, who incidentally worships the starkest, truest hero of them all, All Might. He is the literal symbol of peace and I think we can all agree that he's a truly good person, who does his hero-ing for all the right reasons.
The great part is that as we follow Izuku on his journey, it becomes clear that not everyone is quite this angelic.
Good people doing good things for the right reasons
Let's start with All Might, who is the ultimate hero to pretty much the entire cast. He has the power, the drive, the attitude, the looks. Everyone has some story about how he once rescued a thousand people while going 'It's allright'. But then, during his very first meeting with Izuku, it turns out he's not an ultimate hero all the time. All Might is at this point a literal façade. And the façade of the hero world just kinda keeps crumbling from that point.
It's telling, for instance, that some of the 'purest' heroes in this story are the younger ones. Izuku is, obviously, the poster boy here. He wants to 'do good' and he truly cares about people. Slightly more interesting, though, is Kirishima. Because Kirishima is one of the first and only examples of a hero trying to de-escalate a violent situation. That stuff is standard practice for a lot of police forces. The idea is that when someone is acting out, when they're threatening people, you try to talk them down.
Tumblr media
That's what Red Riot tries when faced with that tooth guy. Admittedly, he’s already punched him by this point, but the guy also friggin shot Suneater, so I’m calling that a draw. Kirishima also ultimately fails, but at least he tries the non-violent approach, which is notably absent from a lot of other heroes.
Good people doing good things for the wrong reasons
This one is kind of the basis of Stain's whole philosophy. Example: Mount Lady is shown to steal spotlights, to plain profiteer from her fame and looks. That's not really villain type behaviour, but it's not exactly squeaky clean either. Again, it's a sliding scale. Uraraka wants to be a hero for the money, which would be 'bad', but she just wants to help her parents, which is 'good'. There's a lot of moral greyness here. You could, for instance, also put Iida's crisis of conscience in here. He brashly charges in to kill stain out of vengeance, forgetting the part where he's a: not really equipped for this fight, you dolt, and b: supposed to save the other guy. Not a paragon of virtue kind of moment for him there. But does it make him a bad person? No. It makes him human.
Good people acting bad
Some heroes are honest to god good people, but have some unsociable behaviour, or just plain look like hobos (yes hello Aizawa). You can consider this superficial. And then things get… muddied.
Bakugou is an interesting one, because he's incredibly powerful, and very smart, with attitude issues and a past as a bully. Is he a bad person? It seems like he's working on it. New question, which I know tumblr is gonna love: Mineta. He's a sleazy teen who wants to be a hero to get chicks, and who exhibits unwanted behaviour towards women. Is he a bad person? Would you class him as a hero or a villain? And then there's Endeavour, who is supposed to be the number two hero in the country. And he's a shit stain of a human being. Where exactly would you class him?
Bad people and the lives they lead
I'm not gonna do every character here, but I think you get my point. There's a lot of moral grey in BnHA. The same goes for villains, too. I've seen quite a few meta posts on what it says about society that it has a warrior who punches people as a symbol of peace. And how the strict way in which the BnHA universe deals with quirks is what Makes Villains. And it must be said: most of the bad guys in the story are not mindless, and they're not without motivation. Stain really believes that hero culture is out of control. He is the bitter ex-hero. If this were an American comic, he could be the Punisher (ostensibly a hero). He has the drive, the power, the charisma. He just has a terrible way of getting his point across (murder). There's a scale, even on the darker side. Chisaki does horrible, horrible things for something he believes in. He's a terrible human being, but he's good to his men, he gives them something to believe in. To live for. Shigaraki, arguably one of the most petty of villains, wants to mostly cause chaos, but he's also aiming for revenge. His parents died and All Might could not save them. That is super sad, but it is something he could have gotten over, if it weren't for All for One. Shigaraki has been GROOMED to be a villain since he was six. You could wonder how much of a chance he, with his bad guy quirk and his upbringing, ever had.
We're all human here
Where I actually answer the question. You're right, nonny, when you say that the way 'justice' is dealt in the story is too simple. Because let me make it perfectly clear. The BnHA universe  may have superpowers, it's by no means a just society. It's not a utopia. It has the exact same issues as present day Japan, only with more explosions and… slime attacks. There are people that don't fit in society. There are those that rebel, there are those that are in it for the money, there are those that use their family and ancient marriage traditions for personal gain. In Vigilante spinoff, which is arguably a grittier version of BnHA, there are those who try to seek justice where regular cops can't do it.
While the public may need to see heroes as larger than life celebrities, what BnHA is very careful in showing us is that every one of these characters is human.
Tumblr media
So to finally answer the question: I don't think Horikoshi is trying to write a black and white story. There are links in the very fabric of the manga, to real world issues: to police violence, to sexism, to celebrity culture. While the story started innocently and tropey enough, we are seeing, with every new arc, the deeper issues of this society. We're growing up with young Izuku and learning that the world is not a perfect place. Good people get hurt and die. Bad people sometimes get away with it.
I actually have pretty good hopes that we'll see, later on, the likes of Izuku or Kiri or Bakugou struggle with what it means to be just. The suffocating bounds of the law are already a theme being dealt with in Vigilante - My Hero Academia Illegals (a spin-off which, if you're into this sort of thing, I can highly recommend). So I don't think that's likely to be addressed any time soon. What we might see more of for Izuku and gang, is the boundary between hero and villain. Shinsou's struggle, for instance, with his 'evil' quirk. Or maybe something like a Dabi arc. If he truly is Todoroki's brother, like the theory goes, that could make for some Very Interesting story lines about the consequences of Endeavour's behaviour.
I just hope it never gets as depressing as Watchmen, tbh.
PS: I do a lot of these.

OTHER BNHA KIDS 1
-KIRIMINA-
Akemi Ashido:
The oldest child of Kirishima and Mina, she’s seventeen years old and she inherited Kiri’s quirk: Hardening
She’s currently enrolled in class 2-A, and sits in seat #12
She has a huge crush on Haku Todoroki, and it started in the summer between second year and first, when they both briefly worked under Uravity as interns
They took the train together on the way back one night, and she asked Haku why he wanted to be a rescue and relief hero instead of an active villain fighting hero like his parents
He sheepishly tells her he thinks his quirk isn’t cut out for actively fighting villains, and that it would be much better use for rescue and relief missions. He then brightened, and started talking about how much he liked actively aiding people get out of horrible situations, and explaining how much it meant to him to be able to help those people
The entire train ride to Akemi’s stop, Akemi was awestruck at how sincere Haku was, since she had always assumed he was just becoming a hero for the same reason she and most of their class were- their parents were heroes
Realizing that Haku had such a pure and strong resolve to become a hero, she couldn’t help but fall for him a little
She went home that night with a new opinion of Haku, and as she lay in bed, her heart wouldn’t stop thumping as the image of Haku earnestly talking, with the setting sun illuminating his face, wouldn’t leave her thoughts
After that, she started noticing other things she likes about him, (like how he always makes her and others smile, his hair, his laugh, his constant practice with his quirk, how he always offers her a water bottle- the list goes on) and before she knew it she was head over heels
When the school year started, she was all flustered around him, and most of their classmates picked up on her crush
The other person to pick up on her crush, was their foundational hero studies teacher Katsuki Bakugou.
Or uncle Katsuki as Akemi’s always calls him (even though she’s supposed to call him Mr. Bakugou like the rest of the class)
And Uncle Katsuki is pissed that of all the people she had to get feelings for- it had to be fuxking Todoroki’s son
(“She could have got a crush on the Ojirou kid but NO! She had to pick two faces fucking kid! Fucking Mr. I-make-out-with-my girlfriend-in-fucking-hallways himself.” “Bakugou calm down, as a teacher you shouldn’t be caring about stuff like this.” “Fuck off, I’ll care about it as much as I damn want! If he so much as lays a finger on her I’ll-”)
80% of Bakugou’s anger is over protectiveness for his only niece lmao
Akemi looks mostly like Kirishima, with his same teeth, body type, skin tone (she doesn’t get Mina’s pink skin rip) but she does have Mina’s pink hair, which she styles short and with a a side pony on the top (idk what they are called)
Akemi is really cheerful, and is always one of the first people to smile! She is very loyal, and has a strong protectiveness streak in her that sprouted ever since her younger sister was born
70% Kirishima and like, 30% Mina (she brings the class together and has Kiri’s self doubt issues :) )
Ahhhh there was more stuff I wanted to write about her but like, the words aren’t coming to me and haven’t for the past three days…
OH WELL might as well post it as it is lmao
