SUMMARY: Spencer never knew to feel about you. Actually, he did. You were a career criminal, but also a liaison for the FBI, which prevented your arrest. You’re cunning, manipulative, persuasive and oh, so seductive. Spencer was warned against you, and he knew it. But even a genius profiler with an eidetic memory couldn’t resist you. Even a genius profiler with an eidetic memory can’t help but lose control around a woman like you.
TW: mentions of smoking, wine, seduction, badass reader, s7 Dr Spencer Reid, mentions of organised crime, mobs and mafia, Spencer’s weak for reader the poor baby, Hotch slander, smut
STW: Spence doesn’t stop the reader from kissing him, marking, oral (f. receiving), brief handjob, praise kink if you squint, dirty talk but Spencer style, degradation I think, wine play (I think), temperature play as subtext, ass slapping, profiling during sex, threat of exhibitionism, light choking, switch!Spencer, switch!reader, pussydrunk!Spencer, slight overstimulation, fingering

Femme fatales had a specific profile.
The "femme fatale" is typically depicted as a highly attractive and enigmatic woman in her late twenties to early forties, often characterized by a seductive allure that masks her manipulative and dangerous nature. Her primary weapon is her ability to ensnare men through charm, beauty, and sexual allure, ultimately leading them to their downfall.
While her motivations vary, she is often driven by power, revenge, or hidden trauma. Early literary examples include the biblical figure of Delilah, who betrays Samson, and Salome, who demands the head of John the Baptist. In classical mythology, Circe and the Sirens use their allure to seduce and destroy men.
The femme fatale's archetype is also evident in later works like Shakespeare's Lady Macbeth, who manipulates her husband to commit regicide. This profile of a femme fatale highlights her as a complex figure whose allure conceals a more sinister intent.
That was your profile.
Hotch had warned Spencer not to get too close to you, because you knew how to use your everything, and you had a sweet spot for the latter. Not because Spencer really was a likeable son of a bitch, but because you found him more fun than the other agents.
You were a pretty face, sure, but you were also a genius. A Dr Spencer Reid level genius, but you were the side of the spectrum that dissolved into a life of high crime and corruption.
Instead of becoming a federal agent - or law enforcement - you were the trusted advisor to a lot of the mafia and mob population, and even that was enough to put you away on charges of incitement/inchoate crime. But you were useful, extremely useful, so you also then became the liaison for the FBI whenever the mafia or mob circles became involved in an investigation.
This time, you were, as the unsub of a case in Las Vegas, Nevada seemed to be purchasing drugs like M99, ketamine and small doses of chloroform, mixed with LSD. It was a powerful mix and the dose was enough to cause immediate system failure and then death. The drugs were being purchased from casinos which were rumoured to be the cover of Vegas’ mob circles.
Your hotel room was the kind of thing Spencer only hoped to see in movies, with warm lighting, patterned red wallpaper, mahogany flooring with underfloor heating, glass and gold tables, mahogany dressers and a huge king-size four poster with curtains the same colour as the walls. There was a liquor cabinet as well as a fancy looking cooler, and it was nothing like Spencer had been used to seeing as he grew up in this very city.
It didn’t feel like his territory anymore. He wasn’t as comfortable as he usually was around these parts. He took the couple steps in, having closed the door behind him, now standing awkwardly in the middle of the room.
Maybe you weren’t in. Phew.
“Dr Reid.” Came the voice that made Spencer feel like he was on fire, a perfectly manicured hand brushing over his shoulder as you walked up from behind him, having come from the bathroom that was no doubt as fancy as the bedroom itself. After all, this was the penthouse.
You lived it big as a career criminal.
You stepped out from behind him, lips that he’d unintentionally imagined on his body stretched into a smirk as you picked up a quarter-full wine glass from the table and took a sip. You were killing him, wearing a black silk robe with just the right hint of lace, which stopped at your mid thigh and had a neckline that had his eyes dropping briefly before he schooled them and gave himself a very firm lecture inside his head.
“To what do I owe the pleasure?” Again, that voice, the cadence of it, Spencer couldn’t understand how something as simple as a damn voice could have him so unbelievably weak for you.
Spencer raised his hand in greeting with his bravest attempt at a smile, like he usually did.
“It’s a case.” He dug in his messenger bag, handing you some photos of some bodies. “Someone’s targeting bank workers around Vegas. It’s a ‘drug smoothie’ of M99, ketamine and small doses of chloroform, mixed with LSD. Morgan dubbed it that. Actually, smoothies are meant to boost the health of the drinker and contain nutrients from a liquid base such as yogurt or milk puréed with fruit, vegetables or items in a mixer, so I don’t see how this particular drug mix is a smoothie— a milkshake perhaps, as it hasn’t got as much nutritional value beside providing substantial energy through the intake of sugar and carbohydrates.”
He paused, seeing the soft, amused smile on your face, the light of the room casting a perfect shadow on the curve of your cheek. It felt like you were ethereal. “Did I say too much?” Spencer said meekly, rubbing his jaw.
“Not at all, Dr Reid, I completely agree. You can tell your friend Morgan to change it and you have my wholehearted support.” You gave him a nod, your head tilted and eyes looking big with the way you were looking at him. “You have no clue just how much your knowledge turns a girl on, baby, no clue at all.”
Spencer cleared his throat, realising that he was veering off topic and also almost salivating at the sound of you calling him baby. Having to lecture his eyes once again for looking at your legs that seemed to go on for days and seemed to also be calling for him to grab, knead and grip. “We need to stay on topic. Hotch needs the information about the case, and you need to give it.”
Spencer couldn’t help but always let his mind drop into the gutter at the sight of you. It was a Pavlovian response at this point— pure, unbridled instinct.
He couldn’t help but notice that with the way the robe draped on your body, you had nothing on underneath. That kind of assumed information had Spencer reeling.
You waved a perfectly manicured hand with scarlet nails, dismissing the idea of maintaining professionalism. “Hotch needs this, Hotch needs that. No offence to him, but he’s got a lock on you, Dr Reid. Enjoy for a night, let your hair down.”
“Well, t-the phrase ‘let your hair down’ originally was meant literally back in 1850, which was its first recorded usage but it has its roots in the 17th century. It was taken literally because women wore their hair pinned up in public, but the meaning of the phrase was to ‘get familiar’.”
Oh.
“Sorry, I can’t.” Spencer added hurriedly, searching for a notebook and pen in his bag. Licking his lips subtly at the sight of your v-neck and the way your hair framed your face. The curve of that pretty neck he wanted to kiss and lavish so it made those pretty lips fall open—
Jesus, keep it together.
“Anyway, do you want some wine?” You asked, tapping the bottle. “‘34 Château Margaux. This hotel really does have good taste.”
“I don’t drink on the job.” Spencer answered coolly. “And definitely not with criminals.” He would had Hotch not warned him— bad Spencer.”
You pouted, feigning upset. “That just breaks my heart. Putting my job against me? I’m only the advisor to some very powerful forty-and-above men who want some sexual gratification and overall ego boosts and also carry some lovely baggage with mommy issues written all over it. They want a pretty face to spill their secrets to, I give them that and get some cash in return.”
You saw the look on his face. “I’m not apologising for being a career woman.”
“Yet you liaise with the FBI about all that these forty-or-older sexually frustrated men tell you.” He countered quickly, firmly looking you in the eye. Not down at your lips, not at your tits, nor your thighs.
Spencer shook his head in exasperation, even though a shiver ran down his spine at how you advanced towards him, undoing his tie with a practiced hand. “What- ma’am, you can’t do that—”
“Ma’am?” You laughed, getting the maroon tie off and dropping it to the floor, unbuttoning his collar deftly. “Jesus, sweetie, that makes me feel old. Call me by my name, don’t be shy.”
Your name slipped off his tongue in barely a whisper, and became his only known prayer when he felt the warmth of your hands through his shirt, sliding up and up until the searing heat ran over his neck, resting in his hair and trailing down his arm, your nose brushing his before slotting in place.
Oh, God, he thought as you took his hand in your own soft one and guided it to press against your thigh, the fingertips of his index, middle and ring finger feeling silk while his palm, thumb and fifth finger felt smooth, creamy skin.
Oh, fuck, he thought as your lips got close enough to his to be a teasing venture into the cracks in his walls and defences that he’d flimsily put up against you.
“I’ll give you the information you need.” You said softly, in a way that had Spencer’s breath hitching. He should have looked away. He should’ve removed his hand from your thigh, but he couldn’t bring himself to. He was stuck like that, entranced by you. “You just need to let loose for me. For one night, I’m all yours. Drop that professionalism, Dr Reid. Let yourself go.”
“You’re a career criminal.” Spencer murmured, his hand beginning to rub your thigh, gripping slightly at the end of the downward stroke. Bad hand.
“Semantics.” You smirked, biting your lip— oh, hell, that did nothing for his self control. It made him want to kiss those lips until they bruised or swelled, until they numbed. His hand on your thigh made his tongue long to devour your pussy. The way you were looking him made him feel like he was merely a puppet on strings. “Come on, Dr Reid. Don’t deny yourself a good time, hm?”
Spencer would’ve answered, but then your lips pressed against his, and suddenly, he had clarity. That this was wrong, so very wrong. But it felt so damn good. His hand now kneading your thigh was wrong but felt electric.
He pulled back, but his mouth didn’t need to do the chasing that they ached to do. You did it for him, silencing any bubbling protest. You kissed him for the sake of coaxing him to give in, to just kiss and touch until his lips and conscience went deliciously numb.
“We can’t-” He felt your lips against his, a hum replacing his words, unknowingly stepping back towards the bed. Or maybe he knew. “We - mm - Hotch will - mhm—”
“Baby, what Aaron Hotchner doesn’t know what hurt him.” You murmured, pushing him back onto the bed. Spencer fell back without a protest, taking you in, especially as you straddled his lean form that had scooted up the bed, set his messenger bag aside and began popping the buttons of his shirt while grazing his lips with your own, teasing him, taunting him and daring him to let go as you rolled your hips slow and steady against his.
A grinding motion that drove him insane and made him moan and gasp. The fabric of his trousers really did nothing to alleviate the friction and pressure.
Spencer’s hands shot to your hips, unknowingly helping you and guiding your movements under the guise of getting you off him. “Ma’am, I mean—” He whimpered your name instead of saying it like a normal guy would, “please, d-don’t—”
Saying don’t stop was the intention, but he held himself back with the rapidly fraying thread of control. His eyes screwed shut then opened wide with a gasp, wanting to lose himself in you.
He wondered if this was his state with every woman or just you.
Definitely you was the answer when you took your mostly empty glass of wine, pouring the remaining contents over his chest. Your cold hand cupped the side of his neck, a shiver flitting over his warm skin as you then bent forward, lapping up the liquid from his chest. Sucking, drinking the earthy-noted wine with a suspiciously high efficiency. A moan that even surprised him left his mouth when you ground down against him again, your tongue on his skin, and he never hated his trousers more than right this moment as the fabric strained against his clothed need.
He loathed them when you reached for the sash of your robe, untying the waves of tantalising silk fell off your shoulders and over the side of the bed, revealing nothing underneath.
His mouth went dry.
He swallowed.
He snapped.
Within a second, you were flipped over, Spencer’s lips crashing down on yours as he kicked his shoes off, toed his socks off as he kissed you like he was going feral, hand tangling in your hair as he practically rutted against you, hard and fast and oh, so relieving.
He was gripping your face, free hand pushing the loose strands of hair out of your face, nipping at your bottom lip before soothing it with his tongue and making the blazing journey down your neck, which you bared to him gladly.
“Is this what you wanted?” Spencer panted, sucking at your pulse. “You wanted me to lose control, baby? Yeah, you got it. You. Got. It.” He punctuated the last three with nips to your collarbone and followed up with presses of his mouth on the swell of your tits.
You couldn’t even think, just letting out moans and sighs and needy whimpers of his name and unintelligible sounds, which did good to satisfy his frustration. Spencer’s mouth enveloped your nipple, sucking while tweaking the other between his fingers to have you arching into him and a smirk forming around his temporary fixation.
He switched his attention, pushing you down by your waist with his free hand to keep you from arching up. “Sit pretty and take it.”
Oh, those words sent a hot shiver up your spine. And then back down again, straight to your already soaking pussy.
He let your tit go with a small gasp, his eyes zeroing in on the prize and prompting him to start kissing down your stomach and nipping at your thighs.
If you chose to wear that robe for another person in the near future, they’d see his marks on your thighs. His. That was a thought that had a warmth swelling in his chest and cock.
He pushed your legs apart, holding them apart with his elbows and biting his lip at the feel of your hand in his hair. Testing the waters, his middle finger pushed with no resistance into your throbbing pussy, which had you gasping and moaning his name, while Spencer groaned yours upon feeling how you squeezed merely one finger.
Spencer had long fingers. Imagine what that meant for all you ladies out there.
He would’ve began pumping it, but he withdrew it and began licking it clean, tasting you on his tongue and almost whining at how good it was. Ignoring your whimper at the loss of contact, he maintained very intense eyes contact with you as he licked one long stripe up your cunt.
That didn’t last very long. The moment he got one proper hit of you, his eyes rolled back, then closed, mouth fell open, and he properly got to work, drinking you up like you did that wine on his body.
You’d honestly never been with a man as dedicated to eating pussy than Dr Spencer Fucking Reid.
“I’ve profiled you, y’know.” He murmured, still lapping at you and acting as if you weren’t writhing, moaning and arching your back - a complete mess - while he was having a fucking casual conversation with you and being the little shit that caused it.
He paused to suck at your clit as if it was all casual and part of a daily routine, little hums and encouragements between words where he’d absolutely devour you and make it look like him playing poker. Easy. “You’re promiscuous - mmh - like Lady Macbeth, except without the - mhm - implied infanticide and insanity.”
Spencer used his elbows locking your thighs in place to spread you open and get a new angle, and god damn it worked, because while you were crying out his name to Jesus and the holy mother Virgin Mary he was acting like this was another day at the office. “You use your body to get what you want - that’s it, be loud, baby - and on all counts it works. You also know how to play into people’s - fuck - psyche. It’s what makes you a textbook femme fatale.”
His middle finger slid in again, along with his index - both ridiculously long - and he crooked them just right, reaching places you didn’t even know existed and hitting the bullseye that was your g-spot all while tracing his name on your clit. Again, acting like you weren’t a complete and utter mess by now, but you were too far gone to care.
“You have an ability to see someone’s emotional desires— now, for example.” Spencer glances up at you, his free hand massaging your thigh and his fingers working you, pumping in and out and making sure his thumb got your clit while he talked. “It makes you highly manipulative, a-and your confident demeanour makes it - so tight, pretty girl - easy for people to trust and confide in you, hence why you’re the advisor to a lot of the mafia bosses on the FBI’s most - mmh - wanted list.”
Upon feeling and seeing how close you were, even if you didn’t know it yourself, Spencer smirked up at your face, looking like the prettiest picture with your eyes rolled back, mouth open, hand holding the sheets and your cheeks as pigmented as they could go. “But you’re easy to read when you’re in a vulnerable position. So why don’t you be a good girl, and come for me?”
You came apart easily at his cue, your high crashing over you like a fucking tsunami, feeling him lap at your pussy to clean you up— or so you thought. He actually didn’t stop, murmuring something about “one more” as his brow furrowed in concentration, really zeroing in on his target.
Not stopping, not letting up.
You were pretty sure you saw God and his army of angels frowning upon the sinful deed you two were partaking in, and how you were partaking of each other, while Spencer continued to steal your thoughts with that damn talented tongue and fingers.
He moaned at the taste of you, feeling drunk on everything you were giving him. Your sounds, the feel of you, the taste of you— you consumed all his senses.
You were a forbidden fruit. He was eating it. Except he was taking more than just one bite of the apple.
When you came again after a few more practiced licks, you felt a lot more sensitive then usual, but the satisfied look on Spencer’s face told you he’d made you come twice instead of once.
Testament to his skill, you guessed.
Spencer wiped all the residue of you off his chin with his thumb, licking his lips and quickly sucking the slick off by popping the thumb into his mouth. He made it look like his everyday Tuesday.
Then he undid his belt buckle and dropped it aside, his trousers and boxers going with as he pressed kiss after kiss to your body on the slow journey up. Spencer groaned as your hand wrapped around his cock, your thumb teasing the head before your hand began to move up and down… until he stopped you.
“Not right now, baby.” He chuckled. “Another time. Statistically, I’m fifty percent more likely to come if you do that.”
“That’s the idea.” You winked, but removed your hand off his dick anyway.
“I’m sure it is.” Spencer smiled, then looked around. “Do you have condoms? J-Just cause using protection during sex, particularly condoms, is crucial for several reasons, both from a-a health and social standpoint. First, condoms are one of the most effective methods for preventing the transmission of sexually transmitted infections, i-including HIV. These infections can have long-term health consequences, some of which are irreversible or even life-threatening. By using a condom, you're significantly reducing the risk of both contracting and spreading these infections to your partner. Second, condoms are a reliable method of birth control when used correctly. They prevent sperm from reaching the egg, thereby reducing the likelihood of unintended pregnancies.”
Then you pulled out the top drawer of the bedside table, which was full of condoms of all sizes. Which had him both slightly jealous and sheepish. “Oh, uh, thanks.” Spencer grabbed one, tearing the foil off with his teeth and expertly sliding the rubber on and entering you so fast your moan came in delayed timing.
“Fuck.” You gasped, especially as you adjusted to him and even better when he started moving back and forth at a steady rhythm, pulling out almost completely before pushing back in, feeling your pussy practically mould to him in a way that had his eyes rolling back and hips snapping forward harder.
It made your nails claw at his back, which made him bite his lip and release it, claiming your lips in a hungry kiss. ‘34 Château Margaux. It had an earthy taste to it.
Your perfume was intoxicating, and he smelt of new books and a cologne that drove you mad. You also got notes of butter popcorn from his time watching Russian movies and his lips distinctly tasted of you and you only.
It felt like your claim on him.
Next thing you knew, he’d pulled out, flipped you onto your stomach and thrust into you again, his mouth latching to your shoulder and leaving marks as he took your neck by his hand, not squeezing hard, but just enough to let you know he was there.
“So tight. How’re you gonna look - shit - all those mafia bosses in the eye, huh?” He panted, punctuating his words with a snap of his hip while you were reduced to cries of his name. “When you can’t walk because of an FBI agent?”
“Spencer, fuck!” Was the only admittedly pathetic thing that came from your mouth, along with a whimper when his hand came down on the side of your ass, soothed by a rub.
“That’s right, baby, call out for me.” He murmured, sucking a mark under your ear. “Make sure everyone in this hotel can hear.”
You found yourself coming at the words, gripping the pillows with your eyes rolling back, Spencer’s own copying as he felt your cunt clamp down on him like a vice. His hand on your throat squeezed a little tighter - but he was aware that it wasn’t enough pressure to cut off an airway - with his head dropping to your shoulder, pressing kisses to the heated flesh as he followed with a few clumsy, shallow thrusts later.
Oh, he knew what he did was wrong. He just couldn’t help himself when presented with you.
Spencer pulled out of you, both of you practically spent of all your energy. You rolled onto your back, wiping away a forming tear due to your sensitive pussy being wrecked by Dr Spencer Reid, but it was worth everything.
“I forgot one thing.” He murmured, moving so he could pull you into his chest and kiss your hair. Remarkable how this man can go from a hot dominant to a hot nerd. “From your profile, I mean.”
“Yeah, Dr Reid?” You smiled, kissing him softly yet intensely, drawing a hum of contentment from his lips.
“You, ma’am,” Spencer cheekily emphasised between kisses, “are very sexually proficient.”
That got a laugh from you, breaking away to playfully swat his chest, which got a noise of surprise from him and a small "son of a bitch!". “Is that your way of telling me this was mind blowing sex?”
“That isn’t how you tell someone that?”

Hotels and homes destroyed, impassable roads and thousands of people cut off. This is how Acapulco, in the Mexican state of Guerrero, has been left after the passage of Hurricane Otis, the most powerful Pacific storm to make landfall on Mexican territory in the last 30 years. The cyclone, which in 12 hours went from a tropical storm to a category 5 hurricane, the highest possible classification, has left the popular tourist destination resembling a war zone with uprooted trees, debris, roofs torn off and buildings without walls. Neither the National Meteorological Service (SMN) nor local and federal authorities were able to predict the intensity of the hurricane. Scientists were also caught by surprise. The speed with which the cyclone intensified was unusual and forced Mexican authorities to issue an evacuation alert for the area just hours before Otis made landfall.
The SMN warned at 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, that the hurricane would reach Acapulco at 6:00 p.m. the following day. However, the storm arrived earlier than expected and devastated the coastal city at 12:25 a.m. Wednesday. Winds of more than 270 kilometers per hour (168 mph) hit the town and the state of Guerrero, one of the poorest in the country, destroying everything in their path. More than 500,000 people were left without electricity, internet and telephone connection in the early hours of the morning and only part of the service has so far been restored. The breakdown of communications has complicated access to the affected areas and there is still no official information on the number of victims and the amount of damage caused, although it is expected that material losses will amount to millions of dollars.
The unusual power of the hurricane has attracted the attention of the scientific community, which links the devastating power of Otis to the El Niño season, a phenomenon associated with changes in the atmosphere and the fluctuation of water temperature in the Pacific. “There is a hypothesis that it could be related to the rise in ocean temperature, which does not mean that there are more hurricanes, but it does mean that when there is one, the cyclone accelerates its formation by taking on more energy under these conditions,” explains Claudia Rojas of the Department of Process Engineering and Hydraulics of the Metropolitan Autonomous University (UAM).
There are those who point to a relationship between climate change and the strength of hurricanes, although the scientific community is still investigating the matter. “El Niño is inducing these cyclones to reach high categories. However, it is difficult to attribute the responsibility for Hurricane Otis to climate change,” says Christian Domínguez, a researcher at the Institute of Atmospheric Sciences of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). “What is known on a global scale is that with climate change there will be fewer hurricanes in the Pacific, but they will be more intense,” he adds. “With the information we currently have, it is not so clear that the intensity has to do with climate change because there are not so many historical records, although we have not ruled it out.”
After making landfall, Otis was downgraded to a tropical storm after depositing heavy rainfall in several states in central and southern Mexico. However, the threat has not yet passed. “The risk is not only posed by the strength of the winds. There are more dangers that such a phenomenon can entail, such as landslides and the flooding of rivers and streams,” says Domínguez. In Acapulco, some 20,000 people live in areas susceptible to flooding or landslides. The hurricane season in the Pacific begins around May 15 and ends around November 30, as such Guerrero could still experience the consequences of other cyclones, says Rojas. “Research work has shown that after a prolonged drought, very intense rainfall events occur, as is the case with tropical cyclones that can reach these [high] categories.”
Otis is not the first hurricane in recent years to strengthen so rapidly. In 2015, Tropical Storm Patricia escalated to a Category 5 hurricane in 10 hours. The difference with the current phenomenon was that it did so offshore, and authorities in the states of Jalisco, Colima and Nayarit were able to evacuate 50,000 people before it made landfall. The storm, catalogued by the SMN as “extremely dangerous” and by the media as the “largest in history,” quickly lost strength after making landfall in Mexican territory thanks to the mountainous system of the Sierra Madre Occidental, which eroded the outer ring of the cyclone and prevented greater damage and devastation. Guerrero, in this case, did not have the same luck.
Acapulco International Airport, which receives millions of tourists every year, has been completely flooded and suffered serious damage to its infrastructure, forcing the suspension of all flights. The main highways are also closed, preventing communications with Mexico City. Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador had ordered his Security Cabinet to go to the affected area, but on seeing the seriousness of the situation, he decided to personally supervise the rescue efforts himself. The Mexican army has initiated an emergency protocol and 37 shelters have been set up throughout the state for victims.

Can you do a fanfiction about the Densi are on protection detail for a high profile man, but he starts putting the moves on Kensi and maybe tries to take it a step too far, but Deeks comes to her Defense.
A/N: This on took a bit of work since I don’t think Kensi typically needs much defending.
***
Just In Time
“Agent Blye, did I mention I have a villa in Acapulco?”
“You did.”
“You should visit sometime. The weather’s beautiful and the food’s out of this world.”
“I don’t get a lot of time off.”
“Well, maybe you can make an exception. For me.”
Deeks rolled his eyes, tuning out Kensi’s reply. Damian Whitehead had been hitting on Kensi pretty much nonstop since they’d taken custody of him four days ago. Formerly a high priced thief, Damian now was waiting to give testimony against several of his wealthy clients. In the meantime, he, Kensi, and Deeks were holed up in a hotel suite (part of Damian’s requirements) until he was called to testify in three days.
The FBI was originally supposed to provide protection, but then asked NCIS to step in last minute. Deeks understood why approximately five minutes after meeting Damian. The man was more conceited and annoying than just about anyone Deeks had ever encountered. Oh, he could be charming, but he assumed the world revolves around him.
Figuring Kensi could use a break, Deeks popped his head into the small sitting room where Damian insisted on spending the majority of his time. Since Damian seemed less demanding in her presence, Kensi had taken on the role of his primary guard.
“Hey, how you guys doing?” Deeks asked, catching Kensi’s eyes. She looked relieved by the intrusion.
“Fantastic,” Damian answered, flashing Kensi a flirty smirk. He was sprawled out on an overstuffed chair, designer suit jacket carelessly tossed on the ground. With his perfectly styled black hair and too white teeth, he looked ready for a GQ shoot.
“Sweet. You know, I was thinking you might be getting a little antsy in here, Damian. You want to visit the gym? It should be pretty empty right now.”
“Actually, I’m a little hungry. Are you hungry, Agent Blye?” Damian asked considerately.
“Eh, I can always eat,” Kensi said with a shrug.
“Wonderful. There’s a French restaurant about 20 minutes from here—”
“Yeah, I’m afraid the governments not going to spring for that,” Deeks interrupted dryly. “Your choices are still Chipotle, pizza, or Subway.”
“Ah, it was worth a try. Then what will it be, my dear?” He turned to Kensi expectantly.
“Yeah, we’re definitely having Mexican,” Deeks predicted, grinning when Kensi briefly glared at him.
“Hush.”
“So you want your usual?”
“Yes, please. With extra guacamole,” Kensi requested. Deeks then turned to Damian, who inclined his head towards Kensi.
“I’ll have what the agent’s having.” Somehow he managed to make the simple statement sound slightly dirty. Apparently Damian wasn’t nearly as savvy as he thought, if he hadn’t picked up that Deeks and Kensi were together by now. Or maybe he simply didn’t care.
“Alrighty then, I’ll be back soon,” Deeks said, noticing that Damian only had eyes for Kensi as Deeks walked out the door.
***
Deeks got back to the hotel about 30 minutes later, a bag of burritos, chips, and drinks in one arm. The sitting room was unexpectedly empty when he walked in, but he heard the murmur of voices coming from the direction of the bedrooms.
As he started unpacking the food, Kensi’s voice rose sharply.
“Mr. Whitehead, you need to move back,” she said firmly, her tone dangerous. Deeks knew that voice. He was across the room without even thinking, reaching for the doorknob as Damian replied more quietly.
“Kensi, I can do things for you that can’t even imagine. Clothes, food, cars. I can give you anything you want.”
“This is your last warning: let me go,” Kensi all but growled.
Deeks smacked the door open, his nostrils flaring as he took in the site before him. Damian had Kensi backed up against the dresser, one hand braced on the surface as the other cupped her jaw. Kensi glared back at him, her hand drawn back in a fist.
“I suggest you listen to her,” Deeks drawled, casually leaning in the doorway. Damian, , but covered it well, not stepping back. “Cause you’re two seconds away from needing a full-body cast.”
“This doesn’t concern you,” Damian said pompously, though after a second look at Kensi, he eased back slightly. Kensi pushed him back, fury and disgust in her eyes.
Damian gave her a look of surprise, then turned to Deeks with a look of disdain.
“I knew you were jealous, Deeks, but I didn’t realize you’d stoop this low. When are you going to face the truth that you’re just not good enough for her?”
“First of all, you’re a pompous idiot. Secondly, the truth is we’re married, and I would never be jealous of someone like you.” Damian’s eyes widened almost comically at Deeks’ revelation, gaze flitting back and forth like he couldn’t believe it.
“You two are married?”
“Yep.”
“Third, if you ever even think of laying a hand on me again, I will break your jaw. Or maybe your arm,” Kensi added, moving to stand next to Deeks. Wordlessly, they took each other’s hand.
“And I won’t stop her,” Deeks promised darkly.
“You can’t threaten me,” Damian protested, trying to laugh it off even as fear entered his eyes. It might have had something to do with the way Kensi was still glaring at him while casually clenching her fingers.
“No, but I can defend myself.” Kensi gave him a pleasant smile that would have freaked Deeks out if it was directed his way. “You can still testify with a broken arm.”
Damian swallowed visibly, fear evident in his eyes. Straightening his jacket, he muttered something under his breath, and shoved past them, sending Kensi a last glare before he swept.
“Well, I guess you lost a fan,” Deeks commented. He glanced down at Kensi. “Are you ok?”
“Of course,” she answered, rolling her eyes. “But thank you for stepping in because it probably would cause a lot of paperwork if I beat up our witness.”
“Mm, well there’s still time,” Deeks commented darkly.
“Fortunately, I don’t think he’ll be trying anything else.” Kensi patted his back. “C’mon, we’ve got three more days to make this guy absolutely miserable.
***
A/N: Not sure about the ending. I think Damian deserves worse than he got. I hope he doesn’t seem too over-the-top.
Thanks for the prompt!

Robotic drones are revealing secrets about nature's deadliest hurricanes
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Have you ever wondered why some hurricanes transform from relatively mild storms into monsters in just a day? This process, called rapid intensification, is one of the biggest challenges in hurricane forecasting.Imagine you’re living in a coastal town, preparing for what you think will be a moderate tropical storm. Suddenly, within 24 hours, it becomes a Category 5 hurricane. That’s exactly what happened with Hurricane Otis in October 2023, catching many by surprise and causing widespread destruction in Acapulco, Mexico. This rapid transformation isn’t just scary. It’s becoming more common. So, how can we better predict these sudden intensifications? That is where Saildrone comes in.GET SECURITY ALERTS, EXPERT TIPS – SIGN UP FOR KURT’S NEWSLETTER – THE CYBERGUY REPORT HEREPicture a sailboat but without any people on board and packed full of high-tech sensors to collect data about the oceanic and atmospheric conditions. That’s essentially what a Saildrone Explorer is. The drones come in a variety of sizes, either 23, 33 or 65 feet ong. These wind-propelled, solar-powered vehicles are designed to sail directly into hurricanes, collecting crucial data where it matters most. They allow scientists to measure the track, or path, that a hurricane is taking along with changes in its intensity over time.HOW TO REMOVE YOUR PRIVATE DATA FROM THE INTERNETUnlike traditional research ships, a saildrone can stay at sea for months at a time; the longest mission lasted more than a year. They’re also much safer and more cost-effective than sending crewed vessels into dangerous storms.WHAT IS ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE (AI)?So, what kind of information do these brave little drones gather? Everything from wind speed and direction to air and water temperatures, wave heights and even underwater currents. It’s like having a weather station, oceanographic buoy and underwater probe all in one package. This data fills critical gaps in our understanding of hurricanes. Satellites can show us where storms are, but they can’t tell us everything that’s happening at the ocean surface and below. A saildrone gives us that missing piece of the puzzle, helping scientists create a more complete picture of how hurricanes form and intensify. This year’s Saildrone mission officially starts on August 7th and runs through the end of October.STORM SURVIVAL ESSENTIALS: YOUR ULTIMATE GADGET GUIDEAll this information isn’t just interesting, it’s potentially life-saving. Scientists at NOAA (that’s the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) are using Saildrone data to improve their hurricane forecast models. The goal? To better predict not just where a hurricane will go but how strong it will become. This is crucial for coastal communities deciding whether to evacuate. As one NOAA scientist put it, “It’s very costly to evacuate, to pick up millions of people and move them somewhere.” Better forecasts mean better decisions and potentially saved lives.GET FOX BUSINESS ON THE GO BY CLICKING HERESaildrones are just one part of a larger strategy to improve hurricane forecasting. Underwater gliders dive deep beneath the waves, collecting data on ocean temperatures and currents. The famous “Hurricane Hunter” aircraft still fly directly into storms, providing invaluable data from inside the cyclone.Together, these tools are helping scientists create a complete picture of hurricanes, from 30,000 feet in the air to several thousand feet below the ocean surface.Speaking of tools, stay informed and prepared to survive Mother Nature’s fury with the five best weather apps for 2024.BAD WEATHER? HOW TO GET SURVIVAL READY IN ANY STORMAs climate change continues to influence hurricane patterns, the race is on to improve our forecasting capabilities. Saildrones and other innovative technologies are giving us unprecedented insight into these powerful storms. While we can’t prevent hurricanes, better understanding and prediction can help communities prepare, potentially saving lives and reducing damage. As we face an uncertain climate future, these ocean-going robots might just be our new best allies in the ongoing battle against nature’s most powerful storms. How do you think advancements in hurricane forecasting technology might influence policy decisions regarding coastal development and infrastructure? … .

Why Beryl Is a Bad Sign for This Years Hurricane Season
Hurricane Beryl rapidly intensified from a tropical storm to a Category 4 hurricane in two days as it rushed toward the Caribbean this weekend, increasing its wind speed by 45 miles per hour daily. This quick escalation was a direct result of the above-average sea surface temperatures as well as a harbinger of what is to come this hurricane season. “This early-season storm activity is breaking records that were set in 1933 and 2005, two of the busiest Atlantic hurricane seasons on record,” said Philip Klotzbach, an expert in seasonal hurricane forecasts at Colorado State University. Last fall, a study in the journal Scientific Reports found that Atlantic hurricanes from 2001 to 2020 were twice as likely to grow from a weak storm into a hurricane of Category 3 or higher within 24 hours than they were from 1971 to 1990. The study added to a growing body of evidence that rapidly developing major hurricanes were becoming more likely. Andra Garner, an assistant professor of environmental science at Rowan University in New Jersey and the author of the paper, called the findings an “urgent warning.” A hurricane that intensifies faster can be more dangerous, as it allows less time for people in areas projected to be affected to prepare and evacuate. Late last October, Hurricane Otis moved up by multiple categories in just one day before slamming into Acapulco, Mexico, as a Category 5 hurricane that killed at least 52 people. It is no surprise to meteorologists that Beryl was able to strengthen so quickly and behave more like a peak-season storm. Hurricanes suck up warm ocean water and use it as fuel. In an optimal weather environment like this past weekend’s, the ample heat energy rapidly increases the storm’s intensity. Abundantly warm ocean temperatures in the Atlantic Ocean have been a concern since last season’s overly active year. On Friday, Beryl formed around ocean temperatures that were warmer than they were this time last year, and are more akin to what they typically would be during the peak of hurricane season, in September. Normally, early-season activity is limited in this portion of the Atlantic because those ocean temperatures are relatively cool. But now they are hot. That helped Beryl strengthen into the earliest Category 4 hurricane in the Atlantic, and the first to have such strength in June, according to Dr. Klotzbach. Previously, Hurricane Dennis held the record for the earliest Category 4 hurricane, forming on July 8, 2005. Because of the ocean’s heat, Beryl formed farther east in the Atlantic than any storm has in the month of June, breaking a record set by an unnamed storm formed east of the Caribbean on June 24, 1933. The warm ocean temperature is one of the main reasons experts have been predicting an extremely active hurricane season this year. It is also why forecasters from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, who predict there will be 8 to 13 hurricanes this season, believe about half of those will reach major hurricane status, as Beryl did this weekend. Usually, early-season activity doesn’t have much bearing on the rest of the season’s activity. But, in June, when that activity occurs as far east as Beryl did, Dr. Klotzbach says, “it tends to be a harbinger of a very busy season.” Source link via The Novum Times

Sugar (with mum) 1x07 The Friends You Keep
Sugar's fears for the safety of his friends lead him to a clandestine gathering where he learns a dangerous secret -- and the truth about Olivia.
Do we know anything about the senator's family? If they're blackmailing Sugar and co. shouldn't they have been the main focus and not the Seigels? A prolonged advertisement for the car being the most effective storyline atm lol. Beam me up, Sugar.
Acapulco (with mum) 3x03 Dead Man's Party
Don Pablo comes to Maximo with a task that puts his training to the test; Julia faces a tough decision over whether to be honest with Nora.
Another episode today about blackmail. What are the TV gods trying to tell me?? Don Pablo was so casual about the seedier side of hotel management. Not the sweet older man I thought he was but much more in line with the absentee father we know he used to be. It's no wonder Maximo loses his better qualities working under him at Las Colinas.
Reginald the Vampire 2x01 The Pompatus of Love
Reginald goes big or goes home; Maurice is the new Deacon; Nikki is a Killer Diller.
Ashley, next episode probably: I sword fight my ex in a Slushie Shack parking lot. 🔥
Extraordinary Attorney Woo Ep 1
On her first day at a new job, Woo Young Woo meets an ally, a skeptic and an old acquaintance. She takes on an assault case involving an elderly couple.
I wasn't too optimistic about the show not infantilizing her as it started with her when she was a kid. But it soon proved me wrong 🙏. And ofc there was ableism, as expected, but some of it was called out, owned up to, and apologized for. I had a whale of a time tbh.🐳

HURRICANE OTIS HITS ACAPULCO BY JAVIER RUIZ GUTIERREZ
The morning of October 25, 2023 was atypical in Acapulco, the night before Hurricane OTIS hit the city with category 5 and wind gusts  of 300 km per hour, although there was information that it was approaching, the government did not warn the people of its danger and the trusting population did not took any precautions, there had never been a hurricane of this magnitude that hit the port,…

Left revolts over Biden’s staunch support of Israel amid Gaza crisis (Guardian) On Wednesday afternoon, hundreds of liberal Jewish American activists staged sit-ins in the Capitol Hill offices of top Democrats to demand a ceasefire in the escalating war between Israel and Hamas. The discontent on display in Washington was a testament to the rising anger among the party’s left over the response from Biden and Democratic leaders to Israel’s war in Gaza. Nor were the scenes in the House the only signs of discontent as US politics—and civil society as a whole—becomes increasingly roiled by Israel’s response to the 7 October Hamas attack. That same afternoon, Joe Biden was asked about the rising Palestinian death toll during a news conference at the White House. Biden replied that he had “no confidence” in the death count provided by the Gaza health ministry, which says nearly 7,000 Palestinians have been killed since the war began. “I’m sure innocents have been killed, and it’s the price of waging a war,” Biden said, in comments the Council on American-Islamic Relations described as “shocking and dehumanizing.” “The White House and many in the US government are clear as they should be that 1,000 Israelis killed is too many,” said Eva Borgwardt, the political director of IfNotNow, a progressive Jewish group leading many of the demonstrations in Washington. “Our question for them is: How many Palestinian deaths are too many?”
Hurricane Otis death toll rises to 48, missing now number 36 (AP) At least 48 people died when Category 5 Hurricane Otis slammed into Mexico’s southern Pacific coast, most of them in Acapulco, Mexican authorities said Sunday as the death toll continued to climb and families buried loved ones. In Acapulco, families held funerals for the dead on Sunday and continued the search for essentials while government workers and volunteers cleared streets clogged with muck and debris from the powerful Category 5 hurricane. The cost of damage could climb as high as $15 billion according to estimates. Clean up efforts are likely to take time, and the government in an update on Sunday said Otis damaged 273,844 homes in Guerrero along with 600 hotels and condominiums.
New danger for Ukraine: Taking Israel’s side in war against Hamas and Gaza (Washington Post) Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s immediate and forceful support for Israel in its fight against Hamas has imperiled almost a year of concerted efforts by Kyiv to win the support of Arab and Muslim nations in its war against Russia. But with Israel’s military operation set to enter its fourth week, and Palestinian civilian casualties mounting, the war in Gaza is posing one of the most difficult diplomatic tests for Ukraine since Russia’s invasion in February 2022. Countries like Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Qatar, which at times have provided crucial support to Ukraine, have accused the West of double standards in Gaza, alluding to the broad condemnation of civilian deaths in Ukraine compared with the muted criticism of Israel. Tension with Muslim and Arab nations, however, is just one risk facing Kyiv, which must now also contend with the world’s attention shifting largely to a new war in the Middle East, as well as competing demands for U.S. military support at a time when House Republicans just elected a new speaker, Mike Johnson (La.), who has opposed sending additional aid to Ukraine.
Hong Kong, Facing an Exodus, Offers Money for Babies (WSJ) Hong Kong’s government is grappling with an exodus of citizens and a plummeting birthrate. Its solution: subsidize baby-making. The city’s government hopes to address the world's lowest fertility rate by paying a cash bonus to couples who have children—the equivalent of around $2,550—as well as other perks such as priority when renting or buying government-subsidized housing and increased access to in vitro fertilization.
Australia's tight rental market forces tenants to make tough choices (Reuters) Australia's red-hot rental housing market, supercharged by record migration and a chronic supply shortage, could be reaching a breaking point for affordability as tenants grapple with rising costs of living. Nationwide vacancies are at all-time lows and prices are up 30% over three years, forcing renters like Sydney office worker Lara Weeks into unenviable situations. With no way to afford stratospheric inner-city prices when her landlord decided to sell the apartment she lived in for 18 years, Weeks and her cat recently downsized from a two-bedroom to a one-bedroom farther from the city centre that costs 22% more. Rent is now one of the country's biggest drivers of inflation, which at an annual rate of 5.4% in the September quarter is well above the central banks' targeted band of 2% to 3% and could lead to further interest rate hikes as early as next week. That in turn would push up the variable rate mortgages held by most Australian landlords who are typically private investors with one or a few properties rather than large corporations, pressuring them to lift rents further and forcing tenants to make tough decisions.
Israel’s slow and deadly advance in Gaza (Washington Post) Israel has now launched what it is calling the second phase of its assault to destroy Hamas in Gaza, a conflict Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu described as his country’s “second war for independence.” Israeli troops are inside the Gaza perimeter—probing, destroying tunnels. The early movements, even near-term objectives, of the Israeli military’s ground assault remained shrouded in secrecy. Still, a general outline is emerging. Israeli tanks and military bulldozers have entered the territory. Israeli forces are spending the night. They are fully in. This is the beginning of what Israeli leaders are warning could be a very long war, which would see Hamas, the militant group that controls Gaza, destroyed, and a new entity installed to govern the enclave. But instead of a massive D-Day-style assault, military analysts in Israel say it appears that the IDF is moving slowly, cautiously into the strip, not mile by mile, but 100 yards at a time, searching for and destroying Hamas booby traps and tunnels around the perimeter and preparing corridors for the quick deployment of tanks and troops to the periphery of Gaza City. Gaza is only 25 miles long and six miles wide. At present, Israeli troops are mostly operating at the very edges of the narrow enclave, in farm fields and emptied villages.
Netanyahu Finds Himself at War in Gaza and at Home (WSJ) Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu yesterday issued a rare apology that inadvertently framed the political crisis that has engulfed him. A few hours earlier, facing mounting criticism for the Hamas attacks that killed 1,400 Israelis, he publicly blamed the security failures on Israel’s defense and intelligence services. He hadn’t been warned of Hamas’s intention to start a war, he wrote in a tweet on X, saying that defense and intelligence officials had “assessed that Hamas was deterred.” Soon after, he deleted the tweet and apologized. The unusual reversal illustrates Netanyahu’s increasingly fraught position. Over 35 years in politics, he has cultivated an image as a security hawk tough on Palestinian violence and ready to face down the threat of a nuclear Iran. That image shattered Oct. 7 when more than a thousand Hamas militants entered Israel in what many Israelis are calling the worst security and intelligence failure in its 75-year history. Even if Israel wins the war, it may not save his political career.
34 Hours of Fear: The Blackout That Cut Gaza Off From the World (NYT) For 34 hours, the vast majority of the more than two million Palestinians who live in Gaza had no way to reach the outside world, or one another. They had no way to know whether their loved ones were alive or dead. Emergency phone lines stopped ringing. Desperate paramedics tried to save people by driving toward the sound of explosions. Wounded people were left to die in the street. On Friday at sunset, three weeks into Israel’s bombing campaign in Gaza—and as Palestinians braced themselves for an impending Israeli ground invasion—the weak phone and internet service that had allowed some semblance of life to continue inside the blockaded enclave was suddenly severed. Two American officials said the United States believed Israel was responsible for the communications loss, speaking on the condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the issue. Panic rippled through the territory. Connectivity restarted spontaneously on Sunday around 4 a.m., said Abdulmajeed Melhem, chief executive of Paltel Group, the main Palestinian telecommunications company. The company had made no repairs and had no understanding of how or why service had partly returned, he said. He added that he believed that the Israeli government was responsible for the cut and the restoration—although service remains limited after an Israeli airstrike on a telecommunication tower early in the war.
Extremist attacks escalate in Niger after coup topples American ally (Washington Post) Islamist militants in Niger have significantly stepped up their attacks in the months since generals here ousted the elected president, jettisoning the counterterrorism support of French forces and throwing into doubt cooperation with the American military. Until the coup in late July, this West African nation had been a reliable ally of the United States and Europe—a democratic success story in a region plagued by coups, a key ally in battling Islamic extremism. But the coup leaders, buoyed by a wave of anti-French sentiment sweeping France’s former West African colonies, are increasingly isolated from their onetime allies. Directing much of its vitriol at France, the new government has pressured the French ambassador to leave and asked all of France’s 1,500 troops to depart in the coming months. Violent incidents targeting civilians by the Islamic State’s Sahel branch quadrupled in the month following the coup, while dozens of soldiers have been killed in attacks blamed on ISIS and al-Qaeda-affiliated Jamaat Nusrat al-Islam.
South Africa Rugby World Cup: The Springboks give hope to a troubled nation (BBC) South Africans erupted in celebration and relief across the country as their team edged out New Zealand to win the Rugby World Cup final in Paris. As South Africa faces economic troubles, sporting success is a welcome distraction and a unifying force. "We hold hope for the country," captain Siya Kolisi said after the victory. "There aren't a lot of things going right in our country and we have the privilege to be able to do what we love and inspire people in life, not just sports people," he added. High levels of unemployment and poverty, along with frequent power blackouts, are some of the issues he was referencing. After the nerve-shredding 12-11 win by the Springboks, those day-to-day issues can be put to one side for a while as the nation basks in the afterglow of victory. South African sports journalist Mohammed Allie, who was in Paris for the match, said that the squad, and the nature of their hard-fought success, contained a lesson for the nation. "If there is one thing the country can learn from this Springbok team and this victory is that how, if you work together, if you're determined to achieve a goal, you certainly can do that," he told the BBC.
Not enough time to walk 10,000 steps? (GMA) Walking 10,000 steps per day is known to improve a person’s health, but reaching that goal can be difficult for many, considering it’s the equivalent of walking around 5 miles. Now, new research is showing more efficient ways to get similar health benefits without devoting at least an hour per day to walking. Taking the stairs is one way, according to a study of over 450,000 adults. The study, published in the medical journal Atherosclerosis, found that climbing five flights of stairs per day—or around 50 steps—lowered the risk of cardiovascular disease by 20%. In addition, the same benefits are found when the climbing is broken up into smaller segments throughout the day, versus climbing five flights at once, the study found. In addition to helping to reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease, climbing stairs can also help reduce the risk of diabetes and can help improve muscle strength.

Stoppp my dad has so many very wealthy friends and it's so crazy to listen to the kind of problems they have like randomly going on holidays to Mexico and complaining that the beach facilities are too old and the architecture is worse than they expected, while there's a time of great unrest like lots of gun violence currently and tourists are not allowed to leave the hotel in the evenings in Acapulco etc etc.
Like first of all how do you pay a fortune to travel half the world without first reading about the area. How do you not know that the country you're going to is currently dangerous for tourists. How do you then complain about trivial matters while the locals are experiencing all these terrible issues.
