What do you know about Duraludon and Archaludon? If you're not too busy, I know it's that time of the year, and I can always check the library...
@accessabilityanon
Ooh, I can go ahead and answer this! Brassie usually wants to decorate, and I can't help but agree that he has a better eye for this than I do-
Hey, no self-deprecating on Delibird Day.
I'm just saying! But anyway. Duraludon is a Pokemon that has scales of duralumin. Which I... think is either aluminum or copper? But point is, it has metal scales that are very durable and lightweight, yet very vulnerable to rust. So while you'll see Duraludon around large bodies of water, you'll rarely ever see one IN water. They're often found in mountain ranges searching for metals and minerals, which are their primary diet.
Now as for Archaludon... I'll admit I know significantly less about it. From what I do know it's an evolution from Unova, so maybe it was something induced by humans? They evolve through a particular alloy, I believe, so maybe introducing it to their diet makes them evolve? Hm. Wonder if Drayton would know more about this...

Clive my wheelchair cannot go up the stairs Gimme Ramp
Yes, this is... an ongoing effort. Unfortunately, you can't just build a ramp directly next to the steps. For the obvious problem of "that's a 45 degree incline, you will go rolling right back down it."
We have been pushing to put a ramp wrapping gradually around the elevated land Naranja-Uva is on, but that also has its drawbacks, namely that it would be still incredibly long (though better than 'nothing but service Gardevoir') and require some heavy demolitions. And collide with the stairs somewhat.
As such, we have also been considering cutting into the ground below the courtyard to create an elevator that might bring students directly into the school. But that, too, is a project with some controversy about it ("destroying historical land", and yet again, heavy demolition), and high costs the board enjoys griping about, though the endeavor is perfectly worthy.
If you are interested, @accessabilityanon has done quite incredible work in the area; we have been making progress within the Academy (with a new lobby elevator) but yet struggle with the exterior. Or rather, differing opinions about what to do with the exterior. For now, stopgaps are unfortunately the most agreed-upon alternative, so we have Gardevoir capable of teleporting students to the highest level of the steps and back and, for those more uncomfortable with teleportation, accessible Flying Taxis.

History time with Auntie Zinnia!
Its time to talk about the Hoenn tribes! Not all of them cause there's, like, so many but the big three ones. The ones that serve as the basis for much of modern religion in Hoenn. I don't have enough time/space to tell you every little detail of the Tribes' histories (no matter how much I want to) so I'll just give you a short summary of their dealio and what they're doing in modern day.
The Draconids
Lets start with the easy one. Everyone's at least heard of the Draconids, if only because of my habit of ending up on the news for... a variety of reasons. These days we largely stick just to Meteor Village but back in the day before the Normanssons, we had villages all over Hoenn, but mainly centered around Meteor Falls and the surrounding area. We worship Lord Rayquaza, passing down stories and myths of it and other Legendaries through oral tradition, and are masters at training Dragon Types. Its literally in our blood (Not, like, we dated Dragons in the past or something just that we spent so much time around Dragon Types that some of the Dragon Energy rubbed off on us so now we get fangs).
Draconids were also masters of construction, building Sky Pillar without any modern day construction equipment. Of course, we had help from the orginal Sootopolitans who are an entire nother can of worms that we don't have time to unpack right now.
The Oceanids
The Oceanids were a Tribe that ruled the waves of Hoenn. Their mastery of water type Pokemon was, and still is, unrivaled as was their mastery of sailing. They also created some of the oldest known maps of Hoenn's various islands which are still fairly accurate to this day.
If you've run the Gym Circuit you've probably passed through Pacifidlog Town, the Oceanids had dozens of floating towns just like that. Most of them are gone now but Pacifildog is still around and has a strong culture and tradition.
The Gaiads
While the Oceanids are in tune with the Water and the Draconids are in tune with the Sky and Dragons, the Gaiads are in tune with the earth. Mt. Chimney was their domain and as a result they were masters at utilizing mountainous terrain to their advantage.
They made quite a lot of pottery and ceramics in general, which is a large part of how their culture is preserved. Before they became commercialized tourist spots, the hot springs of Lavaridge were very important to the Gaiads. So, you know, maybe think about that next time you take a dip.
Like the Oceanids with Water types and the Draconids with Dragon Types, the Gaiads had an affinity for Ground Types.
//OOC: Oceanid Lore inspired by posts from @accessabilityanon (I'd link them but, uh, I kinda lost them. Sorry)

So went to Artazon on @accessabilityanon 's advice to watch one a' the Gym battles. They said it'd explain why the Ice Gym Leader's got an Altaria.
An' frankly, uhhhh
What the fuck.
I ain't new to weird battle things, I went to Hoenn an' still have the Mega Stone from there (long story), but to completely change a Pokémon type is--that's nuts.
I was told that students also get the uh, Tera Orbs the Gym Leaders an' the rest of the League uses, if they got special permission or somethin'. Which I don't remember getting.
What I do remember though, is there bein' some big glass-lookin' paperweight in my bag before I left my mom's house for the school. I just left it there goin' "Hell I need that for??"
...
Well guess I know now.
I don't think I'm gonna go get it though; if Piers can hold the position of seventh Gym Leader 'n Galar without Dynamaxin', then I can probably go through Paldea's Gym Circuit without Terastalizing.
That said, someone offered to let me chill at their table on the way out, so let the guys run around. An' Panera made a friend.
Might name her Frida if she wants to come with us.
#pokemon irl#Scarlet Sig#((Hehe Art))#Sig Erden#((lil behind the scenes thing: i decided not to Terastalize during Sig's run as an additional challenge))#((along with doing everything else in a different order))

I propose a challenge. If I do better in my worst class (history) than you do in your best class, you owe me a favor
and since we've never met and you don't know me, you probably don't want that!
You would probably win my best grade is like. A D-
I wouldn't mind doing you a favor, so long as you're not going to like. Go all evil mode on me.

🎙️ Do you have any blogs in particular you'd like to shout out?
//Hmmm... lemme think...
Well, I'm always up for giving @the-koiking-pond a shout-out. Read about all the interesting happenings at Sharkie's Magikarp Sanctuary. Also @accessabilityanon, very funny blog about one person's quest to make Naranja-Uva Academy more accessible. Because fuck those stairs.
@normal-paldean-student obviously deserves a mention, a girl caught in an endless cycle of being the protagonist of quite literally every Pokemon game. Yes, that includes duplicates.
Also, @contest-winning-pest, for those of you who might be interested in experiencing a trainer going through her journey instead of one whose already completed it. Kerry's a very fun character and a joy to interact with.
@touya-san, who is currently doing a takeover event but ordinarily is about a silly goofy guy who eats revives and his silly goofy traumas. Also Reshiram.
Finally, @battlelegendsredandblue, @prestigepreceptcenterpregym, and @sevencolorspasserby all by the same mod. The first one is, obviously, Red and Blue as they appear in Pokemon Sun and Moon. Their characterization of the two has wormed its way into my head and that's how I see the characters forever now. The second is Justy from Dogs in Love and Dogs in Love 2, ready to commit crimes and throw sand at you. And the third is Silver (one of many on this site) featuring bonus appearances from Ethan.
There's more but that's all I can think of right now.
Sorry for the tags, guys.

So I need to find a place that supplies those headphones that accessabilityanon told me about, and that'll hopefully make my hearing less overwhelming. Just need to find some that my fin wouldn't get in the way of.
And I need to somehow get some sort of legging or sleeve or something for my tail, so I don't keep feeling it brush up against things.
And I need to get some of those cooking implements that gotta-pet-em-all told me about, so I can finally cook again.
...still need to figure out how to deal with my weird nose, though. And my height. And being covered in fur. And partially scales. And my diet.
But, uh. At least I have a to-do list now for some of it.

🕯️ for @accessabilityanon? I know we haven't interacted yet, tho.
//Well… not on this blog, anyways.
I really wish Naranja-Uva… or, hell, Paldea as a whole… had somebody so invested in accessibility architecture back when I went there. It’s a good cause too many people overlook.

"Hm? No I don't know which student they are, they're literally called 'accessibility anonymous.' Also do you have any idea how many students have Sevipers?? Still, their work is admirable and I know the Director feels very indebted to them. I wonder if we can all talk to him about what we could do for them?"
"... Well that's obvious, otherwise this whole thing wouldn't be happening now would it? I meant in gratitude to them! Ah, I'll try to talk to him between classes."

Do you know what the academy does for disabled folk? Can't really wheel myself up those huge stairs..
Yeah, that's been a pretty big concern for us lately. Our most recent approach is recruiting Service Gardevoir to use Teleport, as well as adding a lift to the library, given its reliance on stairs.
I certainly can't take credit for any of it though--if you're interested in accessibility at our school, my pal @accessabilityanon does a great deal of work and planning in the field that I am not sure we'll ever be able to repay.
#pkmn irl#pokeblogging#ask clive#//sorry for the tag but if there's anybody involved with this it's you!

@accessabilityanon Clive, I need a big favor. How many landlines are currently active in the university? Can someone be on standby to test all of them? Not like, right now, but by tomorrow. Because I'm pretty sure I just found a phone line grounded into some piping in here.
Arc, didn't think I'd be digging up the detailing here.
We've got one main landline to the front desk, which has extensions out to... just about every classroom you could imagine. Then the Financial Aid department has their own landline, as well as the health department and Admissions.
It's... a bit busy, and some pretty old engineering. So that doesn't surprise me at all that you found issues, um... looking at our school's piping? For reasons?

"I think the entirety of our school's infrastructure is being held up from collapse purely by this student. And I can't keep paying them in greeting cards forever..."
