Morrigan’s “Gift”
Feyre: Everyone keeps telling me you have the “gift of truth” but what does mean? Do you never lie or something?
Morrigan: No; my bullshit detector is just better than other people’s.
Feyre: In a magical way?
Morrigan: Nope. I’m just good at calling people out on their B.S.
Feyre: ……………?
Morrigan: Yeah I’ll be like “That’s super sus” when someone’s acting up.
Feyre: oh.

Hc that by Illyrian standards Azriel is considered unattractive.
Illyrians are a more practical group, they’re strong and have traditions they want to follow. They live in cold mountains in camps. Strength and endurance is a top quality, and while Azriel embodies this— He doesn’t look it.
Illyrians want someone whose body reflects their strength. Huge arms, wide wings, tall and bearing tokens of war (scars but not too many scars because that then signifies defeat). Azriel is trained for reconnaissance. His job is to be unnoticeable, being a huge hulking figure doesn’t make that easy. He’s tall and large yes, but he’s not that ideal Illyrian man. Hes just slimmer that average and plays sneaky. Not the big bold way that they believe is honorable. So by the cultures standards, he’s not attractive.
Cassian and Rhys both know this, that their sworn brother is considered “unattractive” by their peers. They never really think about it because that’s their brother, you don’t go around agreeing that your partner in crime is ugly. (Also because he could totally kick their asses and hey you don’t call the guy who is covered in conscious shadows ugly)
It becomes irrelevant as azriel ends up sticking to his job and doesn’t have to often interact with large groups of Illyrians (that gets to be Cassians job).
On the flip side, other groups of fae need that man CARNALLY. What makes him unideal in Illyrian standards makes him the perfect man in theirs. Strong beyond what they could achieve, skilled, quick witted and mysterious—he’s a 10/10.
Rhys learns about this after Azriel makes a rare appearance at a large event to let Rhys know about a new development in one of his missions, the crowd immediately hones in on this hunk of a man. Later, Rhys has to deflect multiple offers of marriage from court nobles.

"If i was feyre i would've fallen for Lucien, she's so boring",
"If I were Feyre, I'd wear pretty dresses and let Tamlin lock me in the manor — because only I understand his trauma",
"If I were Feyre, I would've DRAGGED the Inner Circle and abandoned Rhysand for how he treats Nesta",
"If i was feyre I would've left Rhysand for Tarquin",
"If I were Feyre, I wouldn’t have forgiven Mor,
"If I were feyre, i would've never painted the cabin",
"If I were Feyre I would understand that the tithe is there for a reason",
“If I were Feyre, I’d never forgive Rhysand for Under the Mountain.”
"If I were Feyre, I’d have picked up a sword and never touched a paintbrush again.",
"If I were Feyre, I’d have burned down the Court of Nightmares — diplomacy be damned."
Good thing you are not feyre or else the entire Maasverse would be doomed
The world stands because Feyre Archeron held the line.

I'm on a "fantasy reading" online group and I kid you not, someone said
"Oh I liked Sarah J Maas books... they're not Game of Thrones, but at least she finished her saga".
THEY'RE NOT MEANT TO BE COMPARED.
One is high fantasy written by an author who spends time and research to do a believable world building and plot, because fantasy is based on that! No good fantasy is written fast!
One is an author who writes smut - oh no wait, y'all call it romantasy sorry - with some vague fairy villas in the background and a plot that is easily beaten by the Twilight Saga.
THE SPEED IS NOT THE FLEX YOU THINK IT IS. It's the ultimate proof of bad quality.
AND IT'S TWO. DIFFERENT. GENRES.
No. Don't even try to argue.
I'll come at you with the rage of someone who has read actual fantasy since 20 years, way before fucking booktok, and saw her shelves ruined by romance who could NOT stay in its lane.

Underrated hilarious aspect of Rhysand’s “mask” being that no other High Lord needs to do all that.
He’s acting like he has to act like a villain and mistreat 2/3 of his court to rule it when that doesn’t seem to be true anywhere else? Why are we acting like Velaris is so great when I’d honestly rather be one of Thesan or Helion’s subjects.
The only High Lord who might be worse than him is Beron who is actually evil. Which says… something about Rhys I fear.

You know what?
Forget the Elriel rescue scene and how it showcases one of the biggest emotional reactions out of Azriel in the series...
Azriel's shadows were ready to square up against Nesta at the idea that she hurt Elain's feelings but could barely muster a fart cloud of shadows at Gwyn being in the Rite.
Like, okay.

The way this fandom treats fanartists and fanfic writers and tries to police them to "stick to canon" is fucking crazy.
Spoiler alert: fanfic and fanart has ALWAYS been about subverting canon since modern fandom's inception in the 1960s when fangirls were writing Kirk/Spock fanfic on their typewriters and mailing their fic out to people.
If the way someone draws or writes the characters you love offends you, there is a really easy solution called minding your own business.
Don't dump your discomfort on the person who is expressing themselves and exploring their creativity through a hobby. No one owes you your own interpretation through their art and writing.
Some of y'all really need to find a friend or a private group chat and bitch to them in DMs instead of blasting every opinion you have on Tumblr for anyone to see, including those artists and writers you're being dicks about. These people will see you talking about their specific work in a public forum, which includes your blog, and that is bullying.
The reason all the cool and talented people keep leaving this fandom is because all you don't know how to play nice.

But Keir must have known, too. And said simply to Rhysand, “I want out. I want space. I want my people to be free of this mountain.” “You have every comfort,” I finally said. “And yet it is not enough?” Keir ignored me as well. As I’m sure he ignored most women in his life.”
Wow Feyre, what a wild thing to say after leaving your ex over being locked up in a mansion.

Do you know what’s really painful and sad?
When Tamlin comes to the HL meeting and he starts slut-shaming Feyre in front of everybody and she doesn’t say anything because she doesn’t care about what others say. She lets him run his mouth and he doesn’t stop until Rhysand momentarily takes away his ability to speak.
Here, Feyre is the one who shouldn’t have provoked him because she knows how he is. Not the other way around. Not that Tamlin should control his anger issues and stop acting like a child throwing a tantrum because Feyre didn’t choose him (that’s a whole 500+ years old male too). No, Feyre shouldn’t have provoked poor Tamlin, who can’t help but slut-shame the “love of his life” and belittle her in front of everyone present. The fact that some of you call him “iconic” for that too…
But the moment Feyre loses control because a domestic abuser is shit-talking her mate in front of her… Now she’s inexperienced, she should’ve controlled herself, she’s not ready to be a High Lady in charge of a whole court, she’s not educated enough, she’s acting like a child, she hurt LoA on purpose and on and on and on…
Some people in this fandom have a funny way of saying they’re a bunch of misogynistic pos who would go to great lengths to prove the innocence of their “misunderstood” male character and doing so very proudly… News flash: it’s not the flex you think it is.
P.S. if you’re going to say that Tamlin has a right for acting like that because Feyre “destroyed his court” I’ll need you to stop typing, take a deep breath and go read the first three books again because he did that to his court himself.

Am I the only one who, when looking at ACOTAR fan art, has to really concentrate to figure out if that blonde girl is Nesta, Elain or Feyre? And if that winged man is Cassian, Az or Rhys?
Like I know they all have their symbols and everything-
BUT WHY THEY ALL LOOK SO SIMILAR AND YET SO DIFFERENT AT THE SAME TIME?
