Bluepoch gave us the gift of barely-subtext tragic sapphic-centric media do NOT throw that away.
Context regarding PJSK and Undertale under cut.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Project Sekai cast is dominated by female characters but mlm is more popular, meanwhile Undertale has canon wlw rep and oh my god they’re at the bottom. I have nothing against these fandoms or media (I’m literally currently/was in them) but yeah. I just HOPE r99 doesn’t end up in a similar state.

was thinking back this morning to my AP art class i took my senior year of hs. and how my art teacher absolutely would not let us do anything other than realism lol. and how i honestly hated that class (and switched out of it after 1 semester)
i will never understand the art teachers that are vehemently against anything stylized. like just bc it’s not photorealistic & uses lineart/a more simplified shading style doesn’t automatically mean it’s not art? i feel like as an art teacher u should just be encouraging creativity in general! if ur students like drawing anime or furries or whatever else, shouldn’t you just encourage that since they’re actually taking time to learn and enjoy drawing? especially in my AP art class, where we were given a lot more freedom to choose what we wanted to draw & didn’t have set projects we would all work on as a class. and yet i was still forced to do realism (which is good practice ig but it’s boring & not what i enjoying doing solely as an artist). which is definitely the reason i ditched that class lol

girl help the content about palestine on tiktok is turning from actual journalism content and educational resources and organized ways to help to "boycott everything or you're a bad person and if you don't use a game filter that generates 0.00001 cent you're personally the problem"

Something that’s really bothered me seeing posts about the US election? Which has come mostly from people like myself who are not American?
“Well if you vote for Biden you obviously don’t care about Palestine and think Palestinians are lesser than Americans!”
First of all, I do understand that some people think that Biden would be worse than Trump in the continued US involvement with the I/P conflict. I don’t think I agree. There isn’t really a known answer here. Biden has been awful. Trump would also be awful.
But second, and the thing I really want to talk about here?
Would you ever encourage anyone else to only consider international policy regarding one conflict when they’re voting (or choosing to instead not vote) for the leader of their country?
What about all of the people who will be directly affected, every single day, by national policy?
Or is the only way for an American able to be a good person to be self-sacrificing in the name of the Noble Savage Palestinians? Even if they would suffer and maybe even die under another Trump presidency?
People are genuinely saying, “who cares about marginalized populations in America who would be harmed by Trump?” but by way of cloaking it in, “you’re such xenophobes for not throwing out all national policy regards in order to get a (only maybe, and I don’t think likely) better president for international policy wrt Palestine.”
It bothers me for the reason I’ve already stated, but it also bothers me because it assumes that people who vote will also only vote. People who vote for Biden clearly can’t ever do anything external to electoralism, right? *rolls eyes*
I don’t know. Especially when the “you think Palestinians matter less, so you think of them as lesser people or not people at all,” is coming from a non-American completely neglecting to think about the impact of the US election on American citizens, I keep thinking that maybe someone here does think someone is less of a person or not a person at all—the people who think everyone in the US should neglect national policy concerns for one international conflict.

Hey quick reminder that "withholding votes" is a logical fallacy.
Voting isn't the SATs. The only points that count are the votes CAST. There are no "negative points" for votes NOT cast.
Nobody counts the people who "withheld their vote." The only votes that count are the ones CAST.
Nobody says "wow, there sure are a lot of people who Didn't Vote For Our Guy! I guess he's is a bad candidate and we should put someone else up next time." That doesn't happen. That's not how it works. There is no such thing as a "withheld vote." There is only the absence of a vote. The only votes that count are the ones cast.
Refusing to vote isn't taking a stand, any more than refusing to speak is when you're asked what you want to have for dinner. Yeah, you may not get exactly what you asked for, but you have more influence than ZERO, which is exactly how much an uncast ballot is worth.
Politics isn't about getting all our wishes fulfilled. Its not about sweeping change. Politics is like lifting, or running, or drawing. it's about WHAT IS POSSIBLE today and tomorrow. It takes sustained work to arrive at lasting change. Politics is a complex tug-of-war where the needle moves a little bit this way, a little bit that way, a little bit the other way. Failing to vote isn't sending a message, it's letting go of the rope. The only votes that matter are the ones cast.
If I don’t like either party's candidate, and I decide to "send a message" by not voting? Yay, me! All I did was FAIL to make a tally AGAINST the other side. I've FAILED to push for a chance to move the window a bit. I've FAILED to help sustain what is, so that I can go lobby and protest and riot and elect super liberal local and state officials and make things better in the future.
And if I fail to be counted, and the other side swallows their misgivings and comes out in droves to be counted? Then they get more votes. And then they WIN. And then they get free, unimpeded reign to decide who is allowed to vote and who isn't.
Vote.
Vote your conscience in the primaries. Vote for survival in the presidential race.
The only votes that matter are the ones cast.

an element of the conversation that i feel is usually missing whenever i see posts about artists complaining about their work getting no notes is that art, for the vast vast majority of people, is a social function. excluding fringe cases, the image of a lone artist locked away in a high tower toiling away at their work and never coming down to discuss their ideas with the masses (or other artists even) is a myth. people generally make art because they want some hypothetical audience to see it so i think it's really understandable for artists to be upset and disheartened by getting no engagement with their work.
it's true that you should under no circumstances let numbers on social media become the primary motivator for your work, and most of the time if you make things with the intention of pleasing the most people possible you will end up creating things that are bland and soulless, but that's not usually the same issue artists are talking about when they're upset their posts are getting zero notes or a handful of likes.
i and many others would much rather get a couple thoughtful comments, proof at least a few people are actually spending time with the thing we've sunk hours of our lives into, over thousands of notes with no interaction (or that completely misunderstand your intention for that matter. i.e. tagging an original work as a fandom when the original post is labeled clearly). But ultimately we live in a society that devalues art that's not mass produced, commercialized, and highly sanitized and I think it's actually good to not be okay with that.

I'm thinking of yeeting some of my writing onto Tumblr...I really want to share my stories with people, and I don't know how to do that.
My dream has always been to be published and see my stories in book format on shelves in stores, but that dream has been dying a slow painful death. The traditional publishing industry is just...such a mess. It's caused me so much pain over the years that it makes me want to quit. Somehow I haven't yet, but the thought of seeing my books on shelves is a distant dream that I've come to realise just might never happen.
I wish I had friends to share my stories with. But every time I send a manuscript to someone who says they're interested in beta reading, they ghost me. And that hurts just as much, if not more, because I beta read everything they send me. It's happened multiple times, for multiple stories. I've just stopped sharing because of that. I don't even know if they realise how discouraging their ghosting is. I know life happens, but at least say that and back out of the commitment.
Idk, maybe these are just ramblings, I'm trying to figure stuff out. But if I posted stories, would anyone read them? I just...really want to share my words.

i'm going on exam season lockdown as of today, which means no more gifs/edits/anything else because i spend way too much time on them for an engineering student in the trenches lmao. posting this not because i think anybody will notice or care, but so i can hold myself accountable and get embarrassed if i break the pledge. see you on june 3rd for a ghovie creativity extravaganza
edit: besides the ghovie trailer 😭 i cant restrain myself from that one
#actually june 4th because i will be drinking on june 3rd from the moment i close my semiconductors paper#cold turkey on gif making KHBJDGVSCDH RIP#genuinely its such a relaxing thing to do that i find myself prioritising it#and unlike other chill activities it gives me the illusion of productivity#i really need to be getting that from my work and not silly bands#anyway. see u#also in my 4 years of making edits like this in many different circles i've never once felt the need to mention a like/reblog ratio#and i'm fully of the opinion that people can do whatever the hell they like and i never expect interaction#i'm grateful for what i do have#but what primarily motivates me to do this is people sharing their love for whatever is on the post#in the tags or elsewhere#i'm not talking praise or thanks or anything to me i mean 'i love this song' or 'papa looks great here' skdcvkdgvs#'this is my favourite band' u know? it's sharing passion with other people and having them share theirs with me#and in all the 4 years and many many fandoms this (ghost/st) is by far the worst for interaction like that#i'd say ghost especially skhjcsd#and this tag rant isn't a request or a 'please interact more!' or anything like that it's just#a reason as to why i'm a bit discouraged that i'm chatting about to nobody#oh yeah and especially seeing photos posted with no source and no edits get 5x the notes you'd get#the quantity of notes doesn't matter to me but the discussion and tags do#just checked my notes in the middle of typing this and someone rbed some papa ii gifs with#'hope he's steady on his feet the way i would run into him'#KDSGKDSD that's what i'm on about 😭😭😭😭😭#makes me smile knowing something i posted made somebody feel joy abt a silly band and then shared that with me through the tags#i'm aware i've been here for just over one month so shouldn't be making judgements just yet#but sometimes i wish there was more of that

I'm so annoyed with all the tiktok comments under Annabeth cosplay tiktoks where the girls cosplaying are blonde & blue eyed girls, no they should not replace Leah (TV series annabeth) bc they look like the book description - youre just racist. Leah Jeffries plays an amazing Annabeth, and those girls can have fun cosplaying as their favourite character, both things can be true, you dont have to make unnecessary racist comments under people just having fun. There are amazing cosplayers online, and they certainly don't have to white to portray their favourite character, and nor should you post that you want show annabeth to be white in the first place, Leah is an amazing young actress, just because you didn't picture a black girl in your head doesnt deminish her talent.

So I have a firm enough grasp on fanfic to understand that it's relatively normal for Jackson Wang to be throwing a party and it be a normal, everyday event.
But I low-key wanna know how many of y'all are gonna fit Jeff Satur into this now👀
