Shaykh al Islam Ibn Taymiyyah may رحمه الله was asked:
"What is the cure for someone who is overwhelmed by illness, what is the solution for someone who is dominated by illusions, what should one do if overcome by laziness, how can one find success, and what is the remedy for someone who is plagued by confusion?"
He replied:
"If one intends to turn to Allah, but is prevented by his desires, if one wishes to engage in remembrance (of Allah), but is overpowered by distractions, and if one desires to work but is hindered by failure,
غلب الهوى فراه في أوقاته
Whims dominate his times,
إن رام قربيًا للحبيب تفرقت
If he seeks the beloved, he finds separation,
هجر الأقارب والمعارف عله
He abandons relatives and acquaintances,
ما ازداد إلا حيرة وتوانيا
And finds only confusion and wandering.
His constant refuge should be in turning to Allah ‎ﷻ, continuously beseeching Him, and making heartfelt Dua, particularly during times when duas are more likely to be answered, such as the last third of the night, during the Adhaan, and in sujood during prayers.
He should also engage in istighfaar, for whoever seeks forgiveness from Allah and then repents to Him, Allah will grant him a good provision for a specified term.
He should take a portion of the adhkar of the morning and evening, and of bedtime. He should be patient with any obstacles and distractions that come his way, for soon Allah will assist him with a spirit from Him and will put faith in his heart.
He should be diligent in completing the obligatory prayers, perfecting them both outwardly and inwardly, for they are the pillars of the religion.
His constant saying should be: la hawla wa la Quwwata Illa billah Al Aliy al Adheem ("There is no power nor strength except with Allah, the Most High, the Great,") for through it burdens are carried, states are persevered, and conditions are improved.
He should not despair from Dua and seeking, for the servant is answered as long as he is not hasty, saying: "I have prayed, but I have not been answered."
He should know that victory comes with patience, relief comes with distress, and with hardship comes ease. No one has ever attained anything of significant good, from the Prophet to those below him, except through patience. Alhamdulillah."
-Majmuu al Fatawaa 10/137
"Know that whoever frequently mentions something, even if initially it is burdensome, will come to love it. Thus, the initial burden of reciting adhkaar and Quran will turn into a feeling of ease and love for it, until eventually patience is no longer required, and it becomes an obligation that one enjoys, and what was once bitter becomes sweet.
This is the meaning of some saying: "I struggled with the Qur'an for twenty years, then I enjoyed it for twenty years."

Ways on how you can make the most out of these last 10 days. Read below ⬇️
❥ These ten nights of Ramadhan are the greatest ten nights of the entire year, and one of these nights is greater than 1000 months. Every deed you do is multiplied immensely. Take advantage and don’t waste any time, even if it means forcing yourself through phases of laziness and procrastination; you’ll have no regrets working hard in these nights, but you will have regrets if you waste them. If you didn’t do well in your first 20 days of Ramadhan, you can make up for it by finishing strong. Aisha رضي الله عنها narrated to that the Prophet ﷺ would strive hard in worship during the last ten nights of Ramadhan more than any other time.[Sahih Muslim 1175].
❥ Memorize and keep reciting the du’aa that you should make throughout these ten nights while seeking the Night of Decree, as was taught by the Prophet ﷺ –Allaahumma innaka ‘afuwwun tuhibb al-‘afwa fa’affu ‘anni *(O Allah, You are forgiving, and You love forgiveness, so forgive me). اللهم إنك عفو تحب العفو فاعف عني.(Sunan Ibn Majah 3850)
❥ The exact date of Laylatul Qadr (the Night of Decree) is not known with certainty and it could fall on *any* of these night tens. Do you really want to risk losing out on the reward of 1000+ months of worship? Whoever stands in prayer on Laylat al-Qadr out of faith and in the hope of reward, his previous sins will be forgiven.” [Sahih al-Bukhari 1901]. This is the night in which the Decree is shown to the Angels as well, and it reflects one’s provisions, blessings, trials, punishments, life, and death, so strive hard to be of the people who are worshiping Allah on this night.
❥ Prepare a list of du’aa and put your heart into it – these are nights of increased acceptance! One of these nights is the Night of Decree, so make du’aa for yourself, your family and loved ones, and our brothers and sisters around the world, especially the oppressed Muslim brothers and sisters in فلسطين, Syria, Yemen, Lebanon, Sudan, Congo, Uyghurs Muslims, Rohingya Muslims and all around the world. The people you pray for will benefit from your du’aa, as will you.
❥ Try to nap during the day so that you can worship Allah more actively at night. Intend to sleep for His sake so that you can wake up energized for worship, and that sincere intention will bring about His blessing in your energy. If you have work or are busy with children, then at the very least find some time to pray qiyaam before sleeping or before Fajr – to your best capacity.
❥ Try to detox yourself completely from social media or reduce it to a minimum. Focus instead on your relationship with Allah سبحانه و تعالى as much as possible.
❥ Include a lot of Qur’an recitation (and translation, if applicable), dhikr and adhkars, lengthy prayers, and a lot of du’aa. If you have work or school during the daytime, keep your tongue busy with the remembrance of Allah as much as you can.
❥ Be patient through your other tasks, such as work, school, raising children, etc. Know that you have been given a huge blessing by being alive in this blessed month when many others have passed away. Imagine this is your last time to experience these ten nights and motivate yourself to excel as much as possible as if you’re bidding farewell to Ramadhan.
❥ Give charity throughout these 10 nights in order to be guaranteed that your charity falls on Laylatul Qadr – better than 1000 months of worship.
❥ Motivate others – your family, friends, and community to take these ten nights seriously. Remember that the nights are very short and extremely precious; this is the most valuable time of the year which cannot be wasted. Wake up your family if possible and worship Allah سبحانه و تعالى together. Truly, the deprived person is the one who misses out on Laylatul Qadr and the blessings of Ramadhan. May Allah bless our time and accept from us on Laylatul Qadr. Aameen.
(DID NOT INCLUDE CUZ NO SPACE) Ya Allah, allow our good deeds to continue throughout the year as a sign of the acceptance of our deeds in Ramadhan. Aameen 💛

Islam and Wicca
Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition ... to have anything to do with this topic. And yet, it's everything. In fact, this is the very topic that inspired this entire project in the first place.
It all started when I happened to notice this symbol on the cover of a book I bought:
Tumblr media
What on earth was an obviously historical, inverted pentagram doing on the cover of an Islamic book? Growing up in the west, I knew that most Christians associated Islam with Satan because they recognized one additional prophet (saw) and didn't worship Jesus (as) as God (swt). So ... why now this new connection between Satanism or Magic and Islam? Well, the short answer is because this symbol has nothing to do with Satan or Magic. Inverted, right side up, or sideways, the star represents the 5 pillars of Islam, as well as retaining a myriad of other meanings. What's more, early Christians used this symbol as well. Notice in the second reference how the Morning Star was a symbol of Jesus, only to later become a symbol of the Devil. So before we move on to my personal conjecture, let's first agree that symbolism and meaning is easily corruptible and nothing means anything. I would also assert that the Islamic understanding of magic and satanism is much, much different than the Christian view of the subject. In the west we see these two as being merely a rejection of Christianity and a celebration of personal love and personal power. Muslims reject Christianity too, but we don't worship the devil. We know that all power is with God (swt).
Now, let's talk about the Reconquista and the Spanish Inquisition... and kind of by association, the Crusades. Islam was bleeding into Europe by way of Turkiye in the east and the Iberian Peninsula in the west. There were no Missions or forced conversions. There were no supplies or food traded in exchange for adopting the religion of the conquering colonizers. In Iberia, there was a conquest for land, but the ruling Muslims allowed people to continue practicing their own religion. While there was no such expansion in Turkiye, in both places, it was simply that too many neighbors heard a logical explanation of God that made more sense than what they had been taught. Oh and the literacy rate, womens' rights, and access to health care that worked didn't hurt. The Church got nervous about losing power, as powerful institutions do. While the Crusades were a bit of a s*** show and lasted FOREVER, the Reconquista was fairly successful because it was operated in concert with nobles who wanted to recapture their lands and rights to rule. After the success of this process, many Muslims and Jews pretended to be outwardly Christian in order to remain on their own lands. What many do not know is that the Muslims of this time did everything they could to save the lives of their Jewish neighbors by helping them to escape from Iberia after the investigations began. While outwardly practicing Jews and Muslims were simply driven out, it was those who faked their conversions who were targeted during the inquisition. And because there were so many more Muslims than Jews in the region, the majority of those targeted ultimately ended up being Muslims.
Now let's compare this to the "common knowledge" understanding of the inquisition. They burned witches ... for being witches ... right? And what is a witch? A woman wearing a black robe who owns a cat and is preoccupied with cleanliness (hence the broom). She can make medicine and her repeatable "spells" in a foreign language actually work. She practices in a secret coven or group and is probably literate.
Tumblr media
After I saw this image, something else jumped out at me - the wizard robe and the resemblance to the abaya. Not to mention the fact that Abracadabra and the famous Open Sesame have Aramaic and Arabic origins. And du'as/adhkars would certainly seem like spells recited in a magical language because, well, they work. Also the early Christian rejection of cleanliness being actively demonized by associating the broom with the image. Salat certainly is ritualized worship and worshiping as a group is considered better than worshiping alone.
So yeah. They weren't burning witches. They were burning Muslims. And they packaged that outward appearance and the behaviors of a Muslim and sold it to the rest of Europe as a witch. The worst part is that the Church knew exactly what they were doing and they used language barriers to their advantage. They did it to maintain power and control over the continent. Illiteracy in the general populace only aided their efforts.
Let's not forget, modern Wicca has no ties to any ancient religious practice. It's just a glorification of the medieval idea of a witch and the rejection of the church. It caused the murder of innocent women over the next few centuries for being smart, clean, inventive, strong, or any other characteristic that is not docile, submissive, and dumb. It's not real magic, but it is a gateway to magic. This makes it incredibly dangerous. And with that, the reminder that

The one asking is in this situation right now. And I don't know what to do, I am so stressed out and I feel so worthless.
لا حول و لا قوة الا بالله 💔💔
My dear sister, first of all, I am so sorry you are put in this position. I don't know the circumstances and the full story but one thing I can tell you is that you have to be strong, you can't let yourself be or " look " worthless, because you're NOT.
A man's desire for a second wife could stem from different things, there could be a problem in the couple (which does not mean that there is something wrong with the wife) or it might be that the husband feels "entitled" just because it's permissible, or because he is able to afford a second wife and a second family so he thinks why not? And Allah knows best. And sübhanallah, the nature of the woman can't handle it, the heart of the woman can't handle it, no matter how the convincing goes (if any). And this is a very private situation, it is couple-specific, it depends on your financial status, where you live, how you live, if you work or study or not.. so I can't really tell you what to do on anonymous because I don't know much, but I know you're in pain and I feel for you, my heart breaks for you. I want you to remain patient and to turn to Allah swt. Wake up for Tahajjud and cry your heart out to Allah swt, make sure you increase your adhkar, and if you can say " la hawla wa la quwwata illa billah" at least 100× a day and send prayers upon Prophet Muhammad ﷺ at least 100× a day then Allah swt will make a way for you in shaa Allah. Ask Allah swt to grant you the beautiful patience you need to get through this test my dear. Allahu al mustaān.
And on a separate note, if you could start living a little for yourself, taking care of yourself, focus on your own goals, intellect and maybe career if you're working then that's a great way to busy yourself and feel good about yourself.
In shaa Allah kheir.
My heart is with you, may Allah swt grant you peace of mind and tie upon your heart my dear, ameen.

I am currently living with my relatives, and my parents are out of country for more than one month. Till then I have to live them. I have never left my parents before and this is my first time. My relatives aren't very much friendly. I get a bit different treatment from them than the first day.
They are a bit toxic, especially my aunt, she engages in a lot of gossips and all. Recently my sister and I had a problem with each other so she has been really talking about the problem against her to me. Whenever i try to forget and move on and wish to forgive her, my aunt makes sure that I still have the grudge against my sister. She urges me into thinking such stuff against my sister and her husband. I have to live with her 30 more days now, and it's pretty upsetting to me.
I have no where else to go, I have to live with them. Please pray that Allah swt make these days easy for me to bear. 🥺 I wanna go back home. *Cries*
Assalamualaikum sweetie,
I know too well what it means to have to live with someone, in a different environment, and not being comfortable or at ease at all, so I really understand. But I want you to do one thing for me, detach. Detach yourself from the drama and the toxicity, even when they talk to you don't get into it too much, don't pay too little attention or ignore them because that would be rude but also distance yourself and do not be too into the convenience. My therapist used to tell me " when she is talking to you play a song in your head " and from a personal experience, it did work for me 😅 But because we are not encouraging music, maybe start reciting some adhkar in your heart or sending prayers upon Prophet Muhammad ﷺ 🤍 on the one hand you'd get hassanat and on the other hand their words won't affect you as much ;)
Also, if they engage in conversations about other people or try to gaslight you or try to turn you against someone else (in this case your sister) just smile and make duaa that Allah swt guide the person they're talking about, like this will shut the conversation down, and if you do that multiple times eventually they will stop bringing up the subject.
I am sorry you have to be in this situation for 30 more days but you can definitely survive it my dear. I know you will. And you will come out of this experience more patient, more tolerant, and a stronger person 🤍
فصبر جميل، و الله المستعان على ما تصفون ✨
- A. Z. 🤍🍃

The Power of Daily Duas and Supplications: Enhancing Spiritual Connection with the Help of an Online Quran Academy
In the daily life of a Muslim, duas (supplications) hold a place of immense significance. These heartfelt prayers are a means of communication with Allah, seeking His guidance, blessings, and forgiveness. Engaging in daily duas not only strengthens one's faith but also fosters a deep, personal connection with the Creator. An online Quran academy can play a pivotal role in helping Muslims incorporate these supplications into their daily routines, ensuring that they are recited with understanding and devotion.
The Importance of Daily Duas
Duas are an essential part of Islamic worship. They are not confined to any specific time or place, allowing Muslims to seek Allah’s help and express their gratitude at any moment. The Quran and Hadiths (sayings of the Prophet Muhammad, PBUH) emphasize the significance of supplication:
Connection with Allah
Duas are a direct line to Allah, allowing believers to communicate their needs, desires, and concerns. This constant dialogue fosters a closer relationship with the Divine.
Spiritual Growth
Regular supplication nurtures spiritual growth. It helps believers maintain humility, recognizing their dependence on Allah’s mercy and guidance.
Emotional Comfort
In times of distress, reciting duas provides emotional comfort and strength. It reassures believers that Allah is always there to listen and respond to their prayers.
Gratitude and Patience
Daily duas cultivate a sense of gratitude and patience. By regularly thanking Allah for His blessings and seeking His help in difficult times, Muslims develop a balanced and contented mindset.
Tumblr media
Incorporating Daily Duas with the Help of an Online Quran Academy
An online Quran academy offers structured courses and resources to help Muslims incorporate daily duas into their lives effectively. Here’s how these platforms can facilitate this spiritual practice:
Comprehensive Courses
Online Quran academies provide comprehensive courses on duas, covering their meanings, significance, and proper pronunciation. These courses are designed to cater to all age groups and proficiency levels.
Expert Guidance
Qualified instructors with deep knowledge of Islamic teachings guide students through the learning process. They ensure that students not only memorize the duas but also understand their context and implications.
Interactive Learning Tools
Modern online Quran academies utilize interactive tools such as video lessons, quizzes, and virtual classrooms. These tools make learning engaging and help reinforce the memorization and understanding of duas.
Flexible Schedules
Online Quran academies offer flexible schedules, allowing students to learn at their own pace and convenience. This flexibility ensures that even those with busy routines can incorporate daily duas into their lives.
Personalized Learning Paths
Recognizing that every student has unique needs, online Quran academies often provide personalized learning paths. Whether a student is a beginner or has prior knowledge, these academies tailor their programs to match individual proficiency levels.
Essential Daily Duas
Here are some essential daily duas that every Muslim can benefit from, with guidance on their importance and context:
Dua for Morning and Evening (Adhkar):
Morning: "Allahumma bika asbahna, wa bika amsayna, wa bika nahya, wa bika namoot, wa ilayka annushoor." (O Allah, by You we enter the morning and by You we enter the evening, by You we live and by You we die, and to You is our return.)
Evening: "Allahumma bika amsayna, wa bika asbahna, wa bika nahya, wa bika namoot, wa ilayka annushoor." (O Allah, by You we enter the evening and by You we enter the morning, by You we live and by You we die, and to You is our return.)
Dua for Seeking Forgiveness:
"Astaghfirullah wa atoobu ilayh." (I seek forgiveness from Allah and repent to Him.)
Dua Before Eating:
"Bismillah." (In the name of Allah.)
After Eating: "Alhamdulillah." (All praise is due to Allah.)
Dua for Traveling:
"Subhanalladhi sakhkhara lana hadha wa ma kunna lahu muqrinin. Wa inna ila rabbina lamunqaliboon." (Glory to Him who has brought this under our control, whereas we were unable to control it. Surely, to our Lord, we are to return.)
Dua for Protection:
"Bismillahil-ladhi la yadurru ma'asmihi shay'un fil-ardi wa la fis-sama'i wa huwa as-sami' ul-'alim." (In the name of Allah with whose name nothing on earth or in the heavens can cause harm, and He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing.)
Conclusion
Daily duas and supplications are vital for nurturing a strong spiritual connection with Allah. They provide comfort, guidance, and a sense of closeness to the Creator. An online Quran academy offers a valuable resource for Muslims seeking to incorporate these practices into their daily lives. With structured courses, expert guidance, and interactive tools, these academies make it easier for believers to learn, understand, and regularly recite essential duas.
By integrating daily supplications into your routine with the support of an online Quran academy, you can enhance your spiritual journey, foster a deeper connection with Allah, and navigate life's challenges with faith and resilience.

The name Ba’Alawi itself is a Hadhrami contraction of the terms Bani ‘Alawi or the Clan of ‘Alawi.
In the early fourth century Hijri at 318 H, Sayyid Ahmad al-Muhaajir bin Isa ar-Rumi bin Muhammad al-Naqib bin Ali al-Uraidhi ibn Ja’far al-Sadiq migrated from Basrah, Iraq first to Mecca and Medina, and then to Hadhramout, to avoid the chaos then prevalent in the Abbasid Caliphate
The name ‘Alawi refers to the grandson of Sayyid Ahmad al-Muhajir, who was the first descendant of Husain, Muhammad’s grandson, to be born in Hadramaut and the first to bear such a name.

Praise be to Allah.
Dhikr before sleeping
There are so many sound du‘as for sleeping that were narrated in the Prophet’s Sunnah that Imam an-Nawawi (may Allah have mercy on him) said:
“You should understand that the hadiths and reports concerning this matter are many; what we have mentioned is sufficient for the one who is enabled to act upon them. We refrain from quoting more for fear of tiring the student. Moreover, it is better for a person to do all that is mentioned concerning that, but if that is not possible, he should stick to what he is able to do of the most important thereof.” (Al-Adhkar, p.95)
Hadiths about du`a before sleeping
We will list here the sahih hadiths concerning this matter:
Blowing into the cupped palms
1– Blowing into the cupped palms and reciting the three mu‘awwidhat [surahs seeking refuge with Allah, the last three surahs of the Quran]:
It was narrated from ‘Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) that when the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) went to his bed every night, he would put his cupped hands together, then blow into them, then recite into them  Qul Huwa Allahu ahad, Qul a'udhu bi Rabb il-Falaq and Qul a'udhu bi Rabb il-Nas [i.e., the last three surahs of the Quran), then he would wipe his hands over as much of his body as he could, starting with his head and face, and the front part of his body. He would do that three times.
The word translated here as blow refers to spitting lightly and drily. Narrated by al-Bukhari (5017).
Reciting  Ayat al-Kursiy
2- Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) said:
The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) put me in charge of guarding the collected zakah of Ramadan. Someone came and started to rummage in the food. I took hold of him and said, I will surely take you to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him).… He [the one who came and rummaged in the food] said, When you go to your bed, recite Ayat al-Kursiy and you will be protected by Allah, and no devil will come near you until morning. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, “He told you the truth even though he is a liar. That was a devil.” Narrated by al-Bukhari (2311).
Reciting the last two verses of Surah al-Baqarah
3– Abu Mas‘ud (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said:
“Whoever recites the last two verses of Surah al-Baqarah every night, they will suffice him.” Narrated by al-Bukhari (5009) and Muslim (808).
The scholars differed as to what is meant by “they will suffice him.” It was said that it means they will protect him from harm during the night; or they will take the place of praying qiyam on that night. It may be that both are meant. And Allah knows best.
Reciting Surah al-Kafirun
4– Nawfal al-Ashja‘i (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said to me: “Recite ‘Say: O disbelievers’ [al-Kafirun 109], then go to sleep at the end of it, for it is a disavowal of shirk.” Narrated by Abu Dawud (5055); classed as hasan by Ibn Hajar in Nataij al-Afkar (3/61).
Reciting Surah al-Isra
5–  ‘Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: The Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) would not sleep before he recited Bani Israil [al-Isra] and az-Zumar. Narrated by at-Tirmidhi (3402); he said: a hasan hadith. It was classed as hasan by al-Hafiz Ibn Hajar in Nataij al-Afkar (3/65).
Reciting Surah az-Zumar
6– The evidence for this is the hadith quoted above.
Saying ‘Bismika Allahumma amutu wa ahya’
7– Hudhayfah ibn al-Yaman (may Allah be pleased with him) said:
When the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) wanted to sleep, he would say, “Bismika Allahumma amutu wa ahya (In your name, O Allah, I die and I live)”, and when he woke up he would say “Al-hamdu Lillah alladhi ahyana ba’da ma amatana wa ilayhi al-nushur (Praise be to Allah who has brought us back to life after causing us to die, and to Him is the resurrection).” Narrated by al-Bukhari (6324).
Saying ‘Allahumma aslamtu nafsi ilayk…’
8– Al-Bara ibn ‘Azib said: The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “When you go to bed, do wudu as if for prayer, then lie down on your right side, then say: ‘Allahumma aslamtu nafsi ilayk, wa wajjahtu wajhi ilayk, wa fawwadtu amri ilayk, wa aljatu zahri ilayk, raghbatan wa rahbatan ilayk, la malja wa la manja minka illa ilayk. Amantu bi kitabik alladhi anzalt, wa bi nabiyyik alladhi arsalt (O Allah, I submit myself to You, I turn my face to You, I delegate my affairs to You and I rely totally on You, out of fear and hope of You. There is no refuge or sanctuary from You except in You. I believe in Your Book which You have revealed and in Your Prophet whom You have sent).’ Then if you die, you will have died on the fitrah, (natural state), so make these the last words you speak.” I repeated [these words] to the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) and when I reached the words “Amantu bi kitabik alladhi anzalt (I believe in Your Book which You have revealed)”, I said, “wa bi rasulika (and in Your Messenger).” He said: “No; ‘wa bi nabiyyika (and in Your Prophet)’.” Narrated by al-Bukhari (6311) and Muslim (2710).
Saying ‘Bismika Rabbi wada’tu janbi…’
9– Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said:
“When one of you goes to his bed, let him dust off his bed with the inside of his lower garment, for he does not know what came onto it after he left it. Then let him say: Bismika Rabbi wada’tu janbi wa bika arfa’uhu wa in amsakta nafsi farhamha wa in arsaltaha fahfazha bima tuhfaz bihi ‘ibadika al-saalihin (In Your name, my Lord, I lie down, and in Your name I rise. If You should take my soul then have mercy on it, and if You should return my soul then protect it as You protect Your righteous slaves).””. Narrated by al-Bukhari (6320) and Muslim (2714).
Saying Subhan Allah, al-hamdulillah, Allahu akbar
10– It was narrated from ‘Ali ibn Abi Talib that Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) went to the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) and asked him for a servant. He said:
“Shall I not tell you of something that is better for you than that? When you go to sleep, glorify Allah (by saying Subhan Allah) thirty-three times, praise Allah (by saying Al-hamdu Lillah) thirty-three times, and magnify Him (by saying Allahu akbar) thirty-four times.” And I have never abandoned [that practice] since then. It was said: Not even on the night of Siffin? He said: Not even on the night of Siffin. Narrated by al-Bukhari (5362) and Muslim (2727).
Saying ‘Allahumma qini ‘adhabaka yawma tab’ath ‘ibadaka’
11– It was narrated from Hafsah (may Allah be pleased with her) that when the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) wanted to sleep, he would put his right hand under his right cheek, then he would say: “Allahumma qini ‘adhabaka yawma tab’ath ‘ibadaka (O Allah, protect me from Your punishment on the Day You resurrect Your slaves)” three times. Narrated by Abu Dawud (5045); classed as sahih by al-Hafiz Ibn Hajar in Fath al-Bari (11/119).
Saying ‘Al-hamdu Lillah alladhi at’amana wa saqana…’
12– Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that when the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) went to his bed, he said: “Al-hamdu Lillah alladhi at’amana wa saqana wa kafana wa awana fakam mimman la kafi lahu wa la muwi (Praise be to Allah, Who fed us and gave us to drink, and Who is sufficient for us and has sheltered us, for how many have none to suffice them or shelter them).” Narrated by Muslim (2715).
Saying ‘Allahumma khalaqta nafsi wa anta tawaffaha…’
13- ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Umar narrated that he instructed a man, when he went to his bed, to say:
“Allahumma khalaqta nafsi wa anta tawaffaha, laka mamatuha wa mahyaya. In ahyaytaha fahfazha wa in amattaha faghfir laha. Allahumma inni asaluka al-‘afiyah (O Allah, You have created my soul and it is for You to take it in death. Its death and its life are in Your hand. If You cause it to live then protect it and if You cause it to die then forgive it. O Allah, I ask You to keep me safe and sound).”
A man said to him: Did you hear that from ‘Umar? He said: From one who is better than ‘Umar, from the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him). Narrated by Muslim (2712).
Saying ‘Allahumma Rabb as-samawati wa Rabb al-ard…’
14– Suhayl said: Abu Salih used to tell us, if one of us wanted to sleep, to lie down on his right side and say:
“Allahumma Rabb as-samawati wa Rabb al-ard wa Rabb al-‘arsh il-‘azim, Rabbana wa Rabba kulli shayin, Faliq al-habb wa’l-nawa wa munzil at-Tawrati wa’l-Injili wa’l-Furqan, a‘udhu bika min sharri kulli shayin anta akhidhun bi nasiyatihi. Allahumma anta al-awwalu fa laysa qablaka shayun, wa anta al-akhiru fa laysa ba’daka shayun, wa anta az-zahiru fa laysa fawqaka shayun wa anta al-batin fa laysa dunaka shayun. Iqdi ‘anna al-dayna wa aghnina min al-faqri (O Allah, Lord of the heavens, Lord of the earth and Lord of the mighty Throne, our Lord and Lord of all things, Splitter of the seed and the date stone, Revealer of the Tawrat (Torah), the Injil (Gospel) and the Furqan (Quran), I seek refuge in You from the evil of every creature that You seize by the forelock [i.e., have full control over them]. O Allah, You are the First and there is nothing before You; You are the Last and there is nothing after You. You are the Manifest (al-Zahir) and there is nothing above You; You are the Hidden (al-Batin) and there is nothing beyond You. Settle our debt and spare us from poverty).” He narrated that from Abu Hurayrah, from the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him). Narrated by Muslim (2713).
Saying ‘Allahumma inni a‘udhu bi wajhika al-karimi…’
15– It was narrated from ‘Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) from the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) that he used to say when going to his bed: “Allahumma inni a‘udhu bi wajhika al-karimi wa kalimatik at-tammati min sharri ma anta akhidhun bi nasiyatihi; Allahumma anta takshif al-maghram wa’l-matham; Allahumma la yuhzamu junduka wa la yukhlafu wa‘duka wa la yanfa‘u dha’l-jaddi minka al-jadd. Subhanaka wa bihamdika (O Allah, I seek refuge in Your noble countenance and Your perfect words from the evil of all things that You seize by the forelock [i.e., have full control over them]. O Allah, You remove debt and sin. O Allah, Your troops will not be defeated, Your promise will not be broken, nor can the richness of a rich man avail him anything before You, glory and praise be to You).” Narrated by Abu Dawud (5052); classed as sahih by an-Nawawi in al-Adhkar (p. 111) and by Ibn Hajar in Nataij al-Afkar (2/384).
Saying ‘Bismillahi wada‘tu janbi…’
16– It was narrated from Abu’l-Azhar al-Anmari that when the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) went to his bed at night, he said:
“Bismillahi wada‘tu janbi, Allahumma ighfir li dhanbi wa akhsi shaytani wa fukka rihani waj‘alni fi’n-nadi al-a‘la (In the name of Allah I lie down. O Allah, forgive me my sins, suppress my shaytan, ransom me and join me with the highest assembly [meaning the angels on high]). Narrated by Abu Dawud (5054); classed as hasan by an-Nawawi in al-Adhkar (p. 125) and by al-Haafiz in Nataij al-Afkar (3/60).

FIRST KALIMAH TAYYAB (LAA ILAAHA ILLALLAH, MUHAMMADUR RASULULLAH) What are the six Kalimas and why are they important? In total there are six Kalimas and they are widely memorized by millions across the globe because they teach fundamental beliefs about Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta’ala) and Islam. These six (6) statements are educational and often taught to children while they are young. The first Kalimah Tayyab means the word of purity. The second kalimah shahadah is declaration of faith (Shahadah). The other three Kalmas are adhkar (remembrance of Allah), which teach the importance of worshiping and asking for the forgiveness of Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta’ala). The belief among some Muslims that it is mandatory for all Muslims to have all six (6) Kalmas memorized but this is not true. The Kalmas are not found altogether in any one Hadith or mentioned in any narration in the Holy Qur’an. Rather it is in your best interest to know them and understand their meaning. Inshallah by memorizing the six Kalimas they will server you all your life if you can find a way to recite often. This post we will cover the first kalima which is referred to as Kalimah Tayyab. FIRST KALMAH TAYYAB IN ARABIC: In Arabic, the first Kalimah is written: لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا ٱللَّٰهُ مُحَمَّدٌ رَسُولُ ٱللَّٰهِ Narrated Ibn ‘Umar (RadiyAllahu ‘anhu) : that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “Islam is based upon five: the testimony of Laa Ilaaha IllAllah, and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, the establishment of the Salat (prayer), giving the Zakat, (Charity), Saum (fasting the month of Ramadan), and performing Hajj (Pigrimage) to the House of Allah in Makkah, Saudi Arabia) once in a life if one can afford it.” Jami At-Tirmidhi 2609

Note
Could you expand a little om bidah?
The root of the word bid’ah in Arabic means initiating something without any precedent. For example, Allah says (interpretation of the meaning):
“The Originator of the heavens and the earth…” [al-Baqarah 2:117]
In the terminology of Shari’ah, bid’ah means something that has been introduced into the religion of Allah that has no general or specific basis to support it.
For example, the innovated adhkar (dhikr) such as saying the name of Allah on its own (“Allah…Allah… Allah”) or the pronoun (“Hu… Hu… Hu…”, meaning “He… He… He…”). This is a new thing that has been innovated in the religion, intended as worship of Allah, but there is no evidence for this, either specific or general… so it is bidah.
