"Moving" as an intransitive noun is almost exclusively used for changing residences in American English.

This is simply not true?

Ex. "cars have windows and can move. houses have windows and can't move."

Ah, I left out "when applied to people" from that. I also see I used "noun" not "verb," so multiple mistakes on my part.

Though I will note that I am specifically referring to the gerund "moving" is what I am referring to, not all conjugations of "move".

Being so serious right now, but I think if a noncanon ship (especially a queer ship!!!) has enough deeply unquestionably queer scenes to make an edit of over a minute, they should be automatically declared canon. And if one or more characters is already in a canon relationship, congratulations, they are now in a trouple (or more)! Because the amount of noncanon queer ships that have so much more than just a minute’s worth of very queer scenes is getting ridiculous. honestly I absolutely love the Avvar in Jaws of Hakkon. How they worship the gods, how they view the world around them, how accepting they are and just how interesting they are too. I absolutely despise how the Inquisitor and Companions make commentary as if they're stupid or wrong in their beliefs, or that they're "just crazy people who worship spirits".

The dialogue you don't choose or even the ones you do are on the line of condescending, and it's frankly insulting, especially that all options on the dialogue wheel fall on that line.

the Avvar are so fucking cool, I hate we only get a DLC with them. (I also miss the Chasind - I wish they weren't forgotten or left in the dirt by BioWare :( )

the thing that doesn't make sense to me regarding the "he was putting her career on the line" POV is that there's no previous behavior from abbot that makes that believable to me. abbot faked a teenager's exams (w/o her knowledge) so she could get an abortion, told another doctor said teenager was getting back for the pills and didn't seem to care that robby could very easily find out what he did, reprimanded but immediately praised santos for doing a risky procedure she wasn't allowed to and took every opportunity he got to do procedures the hospital board wouldn't allow on the daily. nothing from his behavior told me he would put someone else's career on the line with something we were shown he's very capable of doing. add that to mohan's arc this season and the possibility of that POV being the case becomes nonexistent to me. it never even crossed my mind before checking what people were saying about the episode. i read it as a joke bc nothing else shown would tell me it wasn't.

comparing it to robby and david's situation: it was Not a surprise how robby reacted after david was proven innocent from the shooting. he was a bit more asshole-ish to how he'd probably react in a normal day, especially after a breakdown, but where he stood on the whole situation was not new. we were shown and told robby could react like that; we were shown and told abbot didn't care about what could happen to him or his career if a patient's health was on the way

a couple important details for your record of the ℝ, ℂ, ℍ, 𝕆 post:

division algebras need not be uncountably infinite; any (possibly nonassociative) algebra such that every nonzero element has a left multiplicative inverse and a right multiplicative inverse is a division algebra.

The rational numbers are called ℚ for (the Italian word for) “quotient”, not because ℝ was taken.

Hamilton not only worked with quaternions, but invented/discovered them!

An algebra is alternative if its multiplication has an alternating associator: that is, the associator [x, y, z] = (xy)z – x(yz) is 0 whenever two arguments are equal. This is weaker than associativity.

An algebra is considered to be “over a field k” (e.g. “over the reals”) if it admits scalar multiplication by that field in a manner compatible with its own structure.

The core of the joke is that there are only four alternative division algebras over the reals! This forms a parallel to the four elements mentioned in the Avatar: The Last Airbender opening.

Note that there are in principle more algebras than you get from using the Cayley-Dickson construction (which is what gets the complexes from the reals, the quaternions from the complexes, etc.), so this isn’t just about things stopping at the sedenions.

As it happens, these are also the only four real-finite-dimensional division algebras over the reals (sedenions have zero divisors, precluding them from allowing division), and the only real normed division algebras, as well as the only four algebras satisfying some other properties that wind up being equivalent. (See e.g. one of Hurwitz’s theorems.) So from various (similar) angles, they’re quite fundamental (like the elements).

I also completely lost track of describing "divisor" algebra when I was going into details. That tends to happen sometimes. My eclectic mathematical hobby of choice is complexity and formal languages, not abstract algebra, so I can admit my shortcomings.

Natsuhi and Jessica’s relationship drives me crazy. Natsuhi loves Jessica so much but expresses it in a way that makes Jessica feel like her parents will never accept who she truly is (and that isn’t necessarily an inaccurate feeling). Jessica hates having to stay home from school because school is the place that she feels free to be herself, and a day at home is more work than a day at school. Jessica makes sure to lock the door to her room while she’s at school so her parents don’t snoop.

And Natsuhi wants so badly for Jessica to be okay. From her perspective, Jessica is going to get married and be wife to the head much like she is. She wants Jessica to be better off than her— to be a good wife, because Natsuhi can only conceptualize her own suffering as caused by failures in her wifely duties. If Jessica can just be perfect, she won’t struggle the way Natsuhi has. If she can just be perfect, if she’d just stop talking like that, if she’d just dedicate more time to studying, she’ll be okay.

Shockingly I named some OCs recently and fleshed out the deity lore a bit for my "guess i'll marry the demon lord?" plot.

Solei has existed since near the start but Mehra and Valdas are new to the concept and all three? Petty. They're technically the Trio of Peace cause that's kinda their goal and duty to their world but really, Trio of Pettiness is suitable as well.

Coming from someone who started on tumblr, grew on twitter and returned to tumblr, I can say 80% of OC x Canon hate def is from the hellsite. But the most hurtful and shocking ones are from tumblr, because you never would've expected it.

I wasn't into OC stuff myself back then, even so I wouldn't deliberately hate someone or talk shit about them like...where are the common senses and morals from these people....

I won't stop posting about my OCs, the things that would stop me is likely just employment (tragic) or other reasons. These hate ones are just going to be fuelling my spite LOL
