03.24.2025
Today was absolutely beautiful! Blue skies, 70°, and all the trees beginning to bloom. I spent the morning at a local coffee shop reading through a chapter my supervisor wrote. I'm working my way through the historical context of her current research to better situate myself in the existing niche.
My goals today are to read and annotate this chapter, write my daily journal entry, spend some time in the sun, drink my water, take at least two long walks, and revise my schedule for next fall (one of my classes was canceled).

#yugioh#yugioh gx#gx#ygo gx#subbing rambling#going to do a bigger post compiling all these edits when i release the episodes but wanted to show some of it off lol#[and probably a video too]#madman as i am--and love for this show that i have like an ojama--i wanted to give these posters a translation edit#for... all 26 scenes they're in 😳#ofc i'd already done four of them while prepping 121 since they show up in the preview/Just After This clip#it's been fun getting some more AfterEffects use and applying it to this along with Vegas#also extra fun since there isn't a shot where either poster gets a full frontal shot so i've been doing this with partial edits#where i redid custom posters using what i had available and then power-pin them into place in AE#but oh boy was that Premature Burial scene edit fuuuun 🙃#or at least at first--made a proxy thinking i'd have to throw one in but turns out just masking the upper left corner and moving that;#keyframing brightness; masking in shapes for the little squiggles that show on it for a bit; masking in lines to redo the glow lines#and throwing a green screen'd layer made it simpler lol#i just did the Megamorph scene--did what I could with AE's scale motion tracking for the zoom-out that happens so I took two frames#(one for the initial rapid zoom-out and one once the zoom stops)#and just redid the zoom in Vegas with them which was easier#that leaves nine more clips before i work on a couple smaller animation errors i noticed--along with one to strap in for#[burstlady's shoulder strap happened again]#anywho stay tuned lol#[also have been amused with how 4Kids blanked these in some shots which i'll probably point out for funsies in that eventual post]

drawing generic bust shots 999999 times in a row Makes Me Happy but so does getting notes on my posts and at some point im gonna have to decide which is more important
#most likely the former (having fun) but im probably gonna have to learn that through trial and error because im stubborn lol#this is about the ae blog btw#one of the reasons i stopped posting there is cuz some of the more recent drawings seemed to be getting less notes i think#so i was like “hm i should probably post more creative stuff this is probably getting boring”#and also at some point i went into some kind of spiral like “oh no what if im annoying. what if im cringe. what if i have a bad opinion wh#at if people are mad at me for some reason “#BTW DISCLAIMER PLEASE DONT FEEL PRESSURED TO REBLOG MY STUFF IF YOU DONY WANT TO!!!!!!!!!!!!!! DO WHATEVER YOU WANT /GEN 👍👍👍#where was i going with this#i forgot lol#uh i might start posting there again even if its boring even if its uncreative stuff just as long as im having fun lol#brambles

Alviarin being the reason Siuan got raised is so shitty too. The show framed it as Alviarin getting one up on Elaida rather than a genuine accomplishment from Siuan’s cleverness and administrative abilities like in the books. Siuan was also on the very cusp of discovering the coup in the books when they attacked her, here in the show she was portrayed as ineffectual as she has always been. The other Aes Sedai and Warders fought to free her from her imprisonment in the books and here they’re just like *shrug* about it. I get they can only have so many fight scenes and it was good that Leane stepped in at least but I’d rather the coup be the battle than Liandrin leaving.
Like, I enjoy a well intentioned error like barring the Reds from entering the Hall or sending Tsutama away when she was the only Red holding back the worst of them, but to have Siuan fail to the point MOIRAINE calls her out on it and then have her have no redemption is cruel.
The line from Moiraine was set up so beautifully to have Siuan bring the Tower to the Dragon under Egwene’s leadership. Oh she spoke truth to power at the end with Elaida? Leane called Elaida a cunt to her face every time she was on screen that ain’t special.

sunday x m reader who wont shut up while hes working so he makes reader cockwarm him to shut him up
Cockwarming With Sunday
🍓Dom Sunday makes my skin crawl. Anyway, I went for a softer take than what you wanted, sorry lol. Even when Sunday tops I can't see him as all that mean, at least, not in the way this was worded lol. Anyway, I'm very well Sunday's biggest hater (I love him more than life itself), so I hope you enjoy this. I want him dead.
Tw: NSFW; Implied power dynamics; Mean(?) Sunday; Grammar Errors; ts kinda ass
Info: Dom!Sunday x M!Reader (it's hard to tell lol); Cockwarming; pre ae sunday; Nsfw
Word Count: 1.5k
Sunday was always considered to be a patient man, especially with those he considered important to him. He had put up with plenty of Robin's silly plans and humored her with delight -- he loved her after all, and any plan she had wasn't truly all that silly so long as it came from her. He even enjoyed her endless conversations when he was meant to be finishing up paperwork. His time with her was sparse, he could afford extra time away from his duties for her. She never kept him for long anyway, understanding his position better than anyone else.
You, however, did not have the excuse of being his darling sister. You spent a significant amount of time with him, both in and out of work, and he had all the time in the world to spend with you. Which meant you knew better than most others how much he needed to fill out this report today. Yet... you kept running those stupidly pretty lips of yours.
He wasn't even sure what you were talking about, he'd tuned you out about ten minutes into your talking. Nearly an hour had passed, and you were still going on and on about something or another -- he catches that it's about an up-and-coming artist you'd seen, not that he cares for any musician that isn't his sister. It wouldn't be so bad if you were just talking, he'd mastered the technique of ignoring things that seemed to get under his skin, but you needed assurance that he was listening.
He would occasionally have to pause and answer questions without much context, or hum in acknowledgement of your words. Your incessant rambling is normally incredibly endearing to him, but with the deadline looming over his head, and the ache stinging between his brows it was enough to make it vexing.
He lets out a sigh, hands pressing the pen to the desk just a bit too harshly. You silence yourself, flinching back a little in surprise. He nearly coos, he hadn't meant to scare you, but you were very cute when frightened. (Perhaps he shouldn't be thinking such things...)
"My love," He hums, meeting your gaze with a calm smile, "you know I love having you around, don't you?"
You nod, nervousness shining in your eyes, giving you away despite the brave front you put on. You were always too easy for him to read, a bit concerning considering the enemies he has, but he'd prefer you pliant than hardened -- at least, in that way.
He gestures to the papers on his desk, "You also know how important it is that I get this done today, yes?"
"Of course," You answer immediately, and he can see the realization of why he was scolding you across your face. So very cute. "Was I talking too much?"
He hums an affectionate smile on his face, and gestures for you to come to his side. You do so with no arguments, as expected. He turns in his chair, grabbing you by your hips to situate you between his legs. You flush a bit at the contact, predictable as always, but he chooses not to comment on it.
"I need to get this done, angel," He asserts again, and you frown shamefully.
"Would you like me to leave?" You offer, but the idea sours something in his chest.
He shakes his head adamantly, "Of course not. I love having you here, but you'll have to behave for me."
There is a spark behind your eyes at his words that makes him ache a bit, his member coming to life much too fast for his liking. The effect seems to be mutual, as far as he can tell from his position near your crotch. His placid smile morphs into a slight smirk, and his eyes meet yours again, "You can behave for me, can't you?"
You nod adamantly, "Of course, s-sir." The title is stuttered, somehow unsure despite your knowing very well what he wanted from you now. It was so adorable how concerned you were with overstepping with him. You truly could do no wrong in his eyes, even when you were getting in the way of his work.
"Then," he pushes you to step back, leaning back in his chair, "Take your pants and underwear off for me. Quickly, I'd like to get this done as soon as possible."
You nod again, doing as he says like a well-trained pet, pretty eyes looking to him for approval as you shove the clothes to the side. He rewards you with a smile, leaning forward to run a finger along the bottom of your hard cock. You hiss at the sensation, drawing a chuckle from his chest.
He eases himself out of his pants as he tugs on your sensitive member a few times, enjoying the little whimpers you give him. His dick springs free, hitting his stomach. He leans back again as it does, telling you what to do with his eyes alone. You follow along like in a trance -- he'd almost believed you were under the influence Harmony, if it weren’t for the fact that he wasn’t using it in the moment.
You hiss lowly as he slides into you. Going raw must've been painful for you, but it felt heavenly for him. Your ass squeezed him so well like it was meant to hold him deep within. He smiles reassuringly at you as you finally sit fully on his lap, taking your chin in his hand to settle a kiss to your lips.
"Very good," He compliments.
You bite your lip, averting your gaze, "Thank you, sir."
He tuts at you, drawing your gaze back just as quickly as it left, "You can sit still and wait like a good boy, can't you? If you can't well..."
"Of course I can!" You respond with a desperation that surprises both of you, quickly adding, "Sir."
"Good, good," he hums, pressing a warm hand against the back of your neck. Your chin rests against his shoulder on instinct, getting comfortable against him. Once he's satisfied with you behaving, he leans forward and starts back to working on the document you'd been distracting him from.
The scratching of his pen is one of the only things keeping you grounded in reality. The stretch of his thick cock in your ass is almost too much for your brain to handle. You shouldn't have been talking so much, honestly, this is no one's fault but your own. Still, the torture of not being allowed to move for fear of worse punishment is enough to make you want to cry.
You sit there pretty on his dick like a good boy, though. Always so obedient for him, if only he didn't have to tell you to behave. No one is perfect, so this was a sacrifice Sunday had to make to keep things as he liked.
His fingers climb up your spine, tingling across your body right to your achingly hard cock. You almost hear Sunday chuckle when it twitches between the two of you, but it's so quiet you believe you might've made it up in your fucked out brain. You wiggle your hips in an attempt to get some friction, but all Sunday has to do is place his hand on it and you cease all movements.
Sunday seems, on the outside, entirely unaffected by everything. For the most part, he really is. He's blasting through his work faster than before, but that was because he couldn't wait much longer to bend you over the papers and reward you for good behavior. Each squeeze around him has him swallowing down groans, determined to not give into your temptations -- no matter how wonderful that sounded.
When he signs the last dotted line and closes the stack of papers back to the front page he lets out a sigh that resembles more of a moan than anything as you clench anticipatorily around him yet again. His pen is set on the desk with a little 'click', and he finally looks at you after agonizing minutes of your squirming. Lust has clouded over his gaze, and he looks positively angelic nearly lost to his own sin.
You are no better, pleading with your eyes for him to fuck you like the sweet thing you were. Tears pricked at the corners of your lashes, a picture of absolute beauty. He smiles at you, wiping them away from your cheeks as they spill over.
"You were very good, my sweet angel," He hums, moving his hands to your hips, "you deserve a reward for behaving, don't you?"
You nod adamantly, your heart picking up in excitement. He raises an eyebrow expectantly at you, and you know what you're meant to do next without the need for words. Standing from his lap, hissing as he leaves your tight hole, and bending over his desk like the good pet you were.
"Very good..." He hums, and your spine tingles in excitement as you hear his pants and belt hit the floor around his feet.

“Where’s the Trophy? He just comes running over to me”

Warning: Some inaccuracies about swimming?? Possible spelling errors and I think that’s all, do tell me. This is a work of fiction with nothing to do with the idol's actual life. I do like some feedback. If you ever feel like "Hey this is very offensive." do tell me.
Pairing: Anton x fem!reader
Summary: Just Anton winning Gold in the Olympics and running to you as soon as he reached the endpoint.
Word Count: 218 Words
A/N: I've been seeing edits of the Olympics being in the city of love and I just HAD to. The first person I thought of was Anton. Who's next??
Written: 9 August 2024
Song: The Alchemy by Taylor Swift
Masterlist © ae-cow. Do not claim, steal or repost. All rights reserved
The stadium erupts in applause as the announcer's voice cuts through the noise.
“ANTON JUST BROKE THE OLYMPIC RECORD OF HITTING THE BREASTSTROKE MARK!”
The crowd goes wild. Anton Lee, drenched and victorious, leaps out of the pool. Ignoring the other competitors, he races toward you, his girlfriend, with a look of pure exhilaration on his face.
“I DID IT, Y/N! I DID IT!” His voice filled with disbelief and joy
Cameras swarm around him, capturing the moment as he makes a beeline for you.
“LEE CHANYOUNG!” You shouts his name
He pulls you into a tight embrace, his joy palpable.
Tears well up “OH MY GOD, Y-YOU JUST BROKE THE RECORD!” You said
Anton’s grin widens, and he gently releases you from the hug, his smile never fading.
“I know.”
You place your hands on his shoulders, eyes still glistening with pride.
“Go get your medal, and sing that anthem loud and clear!” You said with pride
Anton nods, his eyes sparkling with determination.
“Yes, ma’am!” Before he leaves, he leans in and kisses you, the kiss warm and celebratory.
As he dashes off to the podium, you laugh, watching the wet, chlorinated footprints he left behind. Your shirt stains the marks of his victory, and you can’t help but smile at the sight of your Olympian.

2024 FIC Roundup
In response to those of you who tagged me (@pookasluagh @captainblou and @missunderstoodlyrics) here is my AO3 author interview.
What fandoms do you write in? At the moment, only for Good Omens! But in the past I've written for Friends, The Pretender and Alias.
How many words have you published in 2024? So far, 186,754 words. I'll soon have a new Christmas fic to post that will definitely increase the count to more than 200k.
What is your greatest achievement this year? Starting to write for this fandom. When I started reading canon post S2 fix-it fics at the end of 2023 I didn't know that I would fall in love with AUs. Today I'm sure that this is a fandom that can express the best AU - if only for the fact that canon is 'fantasy' and AU are 'realistic'. I've changed my style from AE to BE and I'm trying to strengthen my writing. It's not always easy, but I've found beta readers who are so helpful in the process. I can't thank them enough.
What are your favorite top three fics you wrote this year? I've only posted two long fics, which are obviously the favorite I wrote: The Tadfield Holiday (A human ‘The Holiday’ AU) Runaway Groom (A human ‘Runaway Bride’ AU)
But as I mentioned, I'll soon post my Xmas fic 🎄🎁
What was your biggest pit of despair moment? I don't think I ever got desperate, but sometimes it's not easy being a non-native speaker. And the thing I've struggled with the most? Smut scenes 😁 What have you learned? Go with the flow. When the flow hits, just go with it. I'm saying this after writing almost 40k words in less than three weeks.
Did you beta any fics? Actually, I am! I'm not a useful beta when it comes to language, but I'm the best cheeleader 😁😁😁
What three fics have you read this year that you love? Only three? Impossible. I've read hundreds of them. I always read fics and most of all I re-read my faves. So here's a few.
and salt the Earth behind you by @sunrisesinthesuburbs The love and respect I have for this author is immeasurable. Just RUN read EVERYTHING she writes. Of course her Borrowed Words is a masterpiece, but I have a special place in my heart for Profiler Aziraphale and CI Crowley.
Overboard by @joanofart5 I write film-inspired AUs, and Joan did the same with this little gem. It's based on the 1980's romcom 'Overboard' and it's funny, and lovely and makes you FEEL all the right feelings.
Find the Light by @klikandtuna Oh, what an extremely talented author 💛 You've got Headmaster!Aziraphale and Rockstar!Crowley all cuddled up in an awesomely fluff story. Wonderful ❤
The New Road (is an old friend) by @missunderstoodlyrics Pastor!Aziraphale meets SingleDad!Crowley and his daughter Mira. Pining ensured and angst that made me die a little (a sweet death, mind you). Still one of my personal faves by this incredibly talented author.
I'll tell you who's in charge by @captainblou is still my fave of them. But even in other fics, Blou has this wonderful way with words and smut scenes and writing badass Crowley who's actually the sweetest creature. And the way they write about trans characters is the best in the fandom.
When Hell Freezes Over by @hermiola She has a WIP (subscribe, it's hilarious) and she's recently finished her Pretty Woman AU "Take a Little Love From Me", but I discovered her with this two-chapters one shot featuring a charming Peter-Vincent-inspired!Crowley and journalist!Aziraphale. I'm so glad we are collaborating, because your writing truly inspires me 💙💙💙
But oh there are so many others fellow authors: @bellisima-writes ("The Last Angel" is one of the more complex well-thought plots I've ever read), @feraltuxedo (If "All lines are open" was a book, I would have consummated its pages by now), @fellshish (My gosh, how many times I've read "Trial & error"?), @lyricalkris ("The Devil Built a Chapel" killed me 💚💛).
What ideas are percolating for next year? One too many. That's why I'll probably stop writing for a bit. I mean, there might be another movie-inspired AU project in the work, but...We'll see 💜
Who do you want to thank? My three besties, @pookasluagh, @somewhere-in-wales and @ineffablerainstorm. You know everything already 💚💛❤💜🧡🤍 And also, all the writers who make this fandom the precious, peaceful place it is. We've been through a lot this year. But we get them back together in less than a month.
And I can't wait.

Siuan's Speech
The truth is I love Moiraine. I have always and will always love her. I would die to protect her. Twenty years ago, Gitara Sedai had a Foretelling. Moiraine and I were there. She saw the Dragon was born again. The world is changing. We cannot stand behind these walls and pretend we still have control. The only thing we have control over is what we do. So what will you do? Will you stand behind this woman who stands for nothing? Who loves nothing but power. It's not the Tower or or the Seat that makes us who we are. It is us. Us. We are the power. The light shines through us. That is the truth. I am Aes Sedai. I have sworn on the Oath that my sisters have sworn on for 3,000 years. So you hear my words and know that they are true. If you stay here, you will burn with this Tower that you claim to love. But I will never burn because I am Siuan Sanche, daughter of the river, water itself. I defy you. I defy you, Elaida.
This is stupid. I'm not even a fan of Siuan in any iteration, and I was disgusted on her behalf.
First of all, factual errors. She claims to be Aes Sedai and have sworn "on the Oath" so we have to accept her words as true. Except she has already been stilled, so the Oath Rod no longer applies. Also, she has been accused of being a Darkfriend, and the show made a whole thing about how Black Ajah can lie. Which, in turn, means that no one in the room has any reason to accept her words as true.
She says that she would die to protect Moiraine, and in the very next sentence, implicates Moiraine as her co-conspirator. She denounces the idea that the Aes Sedai can control the world from the Tower, when she is literally the only person on the show who ever stated that they can. The conflict in the first episode was about her efforts to maintain a foreign alliance that had become frayed, and Elaida was on the other party's team! Elaida is the opposition to the idea of the Tower being in control, she was the one supporting the efforts of a foreign country to make demands on the Tower.
Siuan is the one who has been acting through a lens of love for power all season, imposing her own authority and unilaterally making her own decisions, often against the wishes, advice or interests of others. Yes, she had an ostensibly good cause, but she served that cause in a way that had her claiming or using the maximum power and shutting others out of the process, as her loyal henchwoman pointed out in this episode. Elaida, meanwhile, has equally been shown to be working toward an agenda of helping Andor, because it will be important in the Last Battle, but she is NOT doing this by exercising power herself, merely advising the queen. Her agenda in deposing Siuan has been explicitly about following the Tower law, because she said that's why she is doing it. The Three Oaths go both ways.
But regardless of how one might perceive Elaida and Siuan, there is no logical through-line to get you from "we don't run the world" to "don't follow this person who only loves power" to "we, ourselves, are great and powerful as people and we don't need no stinking Tower".
She says, also, in response to absolutely no one claiming otherwise, that the don't derive their power from the organization or their titles, but from themselves. But that's not exactly correct either. First of all, the source of their power does not change the fact of it. Secondly, it means Siuan has wasted her life pursuing and exploiting the same forms of authority she now dismisses, now that they are no longer hers to control and command.
Then there is the prediction about burning with the Tower. Sounds like someone got a peak at the future plans, because it makes no sense in the context of anything Siuan has been told, and the final nonsense about never burning because she's water and a daughter of the river, is clearly not at all the words of an arrogant or power-mad person.
If there is any coherent theme to the speech, bearing in mind it starts with a declaration of love and ends with an egomaniacal boast, it is an anti-institutional diatribe telling a small clique of hardcore political allies to give up on the organization and go do things as individuals, right at the moment when they have achieved power over said organization, and right after she has been turfed out for her actions almost entirely revolving around the organization. Basically, autocracy is great if Siuan is the autocrat, but if she can't be an autocrat, then the only acceptable choice is anarchist individualism.
This is just a bunch of things the writers thought would be cool to say in a gallows speech and wanted to play over the climactic action scene and it does as much damage to Siuan as anything else the show has had her do to make their plots happen or to promote their shipping fanfic at the expense of the plot and character development.

i know not every system has roles, but for those that do (or those that really want to), how do you figure out what those roles are?
do you know how one (or many, lol) could figure roles within the system? i know not all systems have roles but none of us know ours and we really want/need them if only to feel as though we're. actually contributing something. thank you!
(anon)
As these asks are rather similar, we'll be answering them together.
Most of us either fell into our roles and then discovered the terms for them later, or found the words for specific roles that resonated with them and decided to take up that role officially. The rest of us identified roles for ourselves through trial, error, and experience. Here are a few examples of finding roles from our system:
Tana is a caregiver and emotional protector. He used to be just an emotional protector, and as far as we can tell he came into existence with that role, but it didn't feel complete until we realized he was also acting like a caregiver to the rest of us. For Tana, it was a matter of having specific roles he was meant to fill from the get-go, but not initially having the words for all of them. It's similar to not realizing a calling in life until someone else helps you put a name to it.
Astrophel found the term "hygienist" and decided that was what xe was going to be. It wasn't something ae were exactly "born to do" in the sense that ae came into existence already acting as a hygienist for us, but once ae found the role, ae decided that was what ae were going to be for our system.
Alterisa used to be a socializer, and he decided upon this role simply because he was good at talking to people. He gave it up for a time, but we're helping him explore the idea of returning to the role by setting up situations where he can try out the duties of a socializer and see if he feels they're still a good fit for him. He's also tried out other roles here and there, but being a socializer seems like it might be what fits him best.
Crime is exploring niche roles in our system not through specific terminology, but by trying out different things to help the system. So far, it looks like she might be one of our best selves at dealing with intrusive thoughts. She didn't spawn with this role; it's a talent she discovered out of the blue and has been developing over time. Sometimes she even forgets this ability of hers, due to how niche it is.
With those examples in mind, we recommend that if you want to have a specific role in your system, it's good to look at your strengths and try out different things. There are lots of system roles out there, so experiment and explore what speaks to you, and I'm sure you'll be able to find something you enjoy doing to help your system. It can be as common as a protector or as uncommon as a hygienist; it can be as niche as dealing with intrusive thoughts or as broad as talking to people outside the system.
Of course, you don't have to have a role to be valuable, or to help your system. But system roles are useful tools for understanding what one does in their system, and most folks like to have their own way to help others out, so if you're looking to find one of your own, we wish you good luck!

Knife of Dreams new reader thoughts: Chapters 6-10
Overall thoughts per chapter followed by favorite moment.
Chapter 6 (A Stave and a Razor): Noal is 1000% Jain Farstrider and Mat is a dumbass. In many ways. Also will I be crucified if I say that I still think Mat/Tuon is kind of cute? Their relationship is dysfunctional and interesting and silly.
🩵 Mat being all mushy about Tuon's smile
Chapter 7 (A Cold Medallion): I have no words for how much I hated this chapter. I'm not a Mat hater but this chapter was a convincing argument. (This is the one where he spanks Joline and yells at the group of Aes Sedai.)
🩵 Nothing good. Fuck this chapter I wish I'd never read it
Chapter 8 (Dragons' Eggs): This one actually had a lot of good stuff - Aludra is making war weapons and Mat's dream about regretting their widespread use was well-written. It's giving Vox Machina Percy. Also the horse Mat bought was a gift for Tuon and she really liked it. Also ALSO the Mat Finn angst was juicy. Creepy AF that once you visit them, they have a link to your mind for the rest of your life.
🩵 I'm a sucker for angst so Mat freaking out about the Finn and Tuon noticing
Chapter 9 (A Short Path): Fuck this chapter also. I had high hopes for Tuon's deprogramming arc but she then collared three Aes Sedai and Mat's pushback against that was... not satisfying. Mat seems to hardly care how people treat Aes Sedai most of the time so I'm realizing he is really not the best person to help Tuon see the error of her ways. This book is pissing me off I'm not going to lie. I'm frustrated.
🩵 Egeanin informing Mat that he accidentally followed another Seanchan courting ritual
Chapter 10 (A Village in Shiota): MOIRAINE LETTER... I'm feeling so normal (lie). Net zero information from said letter bc I was already spoiled on all of it, but I've been holding back from actually reading it and god I missed her. Spoilers under cut
🩵 "If you see Lan again..." I'm going insane
< last | next >
FULL SERIES SPOILERS UNDER THE CUT
Just wanted to quickly note that I've been spoiled on the majority of the Moiraine content going forward - not all specifics but the general information - and I know it's still going to be a while until the rescue mission although I don't know exactly when. If I was unspoiled, I would be very impatient, but since I know I have to wait, I probably won't be talking about it much.

Thank you!
We appreciate everyone’s participation and have gathered a lot of great feedback!
Some things to clarify:
The Chinese Title for Language & Culture does include Taiwan and Hong Kong for now. This is very similar to the English Title including the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, and Canada. We understand that may people feel strongly that these should be separate, but they do have many similar backgrounds that should not be ignored and right now they help prop each other up in areas they lack a bit. This may change in the future, but we think this is acceptable for now.
We will be adding and taking away some awards in the future! We’re already considering what will be in next year’s! Additionally, we know it’s hard to keep track of what is released in the year, so be on the lookout for our monthly wrap-up posts!
We were recommended to add a Community Category where we can highlight other entities helping to promote and celebrate BL! We have many exciting ideas for this, so please look forward to next year’s Awards!
Thank you very much!

“Cause the sign on your heart said it's still reserved for me.”

Warning: Some inaccuracies about ice skating?? Possible spelling errors and I think that’s all, do tell me. This is a work of fiction with nothing to do with the idol's actual life. I do like some feedback. If you ever feel like "Hey this is very offensive." do tell me.
Pairing: Sunghoon x fem!reader
Summary: Just Sunghoon & you sharing a kiss after winning gold in the Olympics DESPITE breaking up 4 months ago.
Word Count: 316 Words
A/N: Since I saw positive feedback from Anton’s story, I decided to make a second one at 2 AM. I've been seeing edits of the Olympics being in the city of love and I just HAD to. Who's next??
Written: 21 August 2024
Song: The Alchemy by Taylor Swift

Sunghoon and you broke up nearly 4 months ago. But tell me why are the two of you kissing when you two won gold for Pairs Ice Skating?
People noticed in an interview you both had mentioned that you two broke up but still decided to compete in the Olympics and keep it professional. Leaving Love life and work life separate.
You could say that maybe that tension you had while performing and that moment you had winning gold in the Olympics just causes a hint of exhilaration and kissing a former lover was just the right thing to match such a moment.
-
The final routine is over. The lights dim slightly as the announcer’s voice echoes through the stadium, announcing that you and Sunghoon have won the gold medal. The crowd erupts in applause and cheers, their enthusiasm echoing off the ice.
Breathless and elated, you and Sunghoon stand centre, Your hands are still intertwined from the final pose of your performance. The arena’s cheers are a distant hum as you both bask in the surreal sensation of the moment.
You exchange a look, one filled with a mixture of euphoria and something deeper. Sunghoon’s eyes are locked on yours, reflecting the intensity of the last few minutes on the ice and the unspoken emotions that linger between you.
“Sunghoon… We just- We won gold!” You said, not believing yourself
Slowly, almost instinctively, he takes a step closer. The world around you fades as you both lean in. The kiss is passionate and impromptu, a direct response to the rush of adrenaline and shared victory. It’s a blend of joy and unresolved feelings—a passionate embrace that captures the complexity of your past and the present thrill.
As you pulled away, Sunghoon wiped the tear that trickled down your cheek. The crowd's roar crescendos again, and the cameras flash brightly, capturing the intimate moment. You both smile, a mix of relief and uncertainty in your eyes, knowing that the kiss will spark speculation.
In the post-ceremony interviews, when asked about the kiss, you both offer the cryptic yet honest response: “Maybe we are or maybe we aren’t.” The kiss has become both a celebration of your shared achievement and a tantalizing hint of what might come next.

Day 50 - 15 Days BL Challenge (part 4)
Day 50 - Favourite female identifying character?
I wanted to include three of my faves here
Tiffy from Lovely Writer
Love Tiffy so much! She's fierce and strong and calls her man baby girl and wears a leather jacket and drives a motor cycle and it also doesn't hurt that she's played by Zorzo. She's just so god damn cool!
Her pairing is also one of my favourite het pairings in BL because they flip the script so hard on gender roles and stereo types.
Mew from 3 Will Be Free
Another bad ass independent woman who doesn't need no man but gains two anyways.
She said female solidarity and I'm with her on that.
Yu Na from Semantic Error
Another character that defies the female stereotypes and is just such a perfect friend character. It's so rare that we see main characters in BL have really good female friends but Yu Na was on of them.
Honestly now that I've gotten started talking about Yu Na, I'm realizing that so many of my favourite Korean QLs have great female characters. Like Yoon Woon and Ae Ri from The Eighth Sense, Jung One from She Makes My Heart Flutter and Ji Yeon from The New Employee.
The original challenge is here, part two here, part three here, and four here.

Over the holiday weekend, all but one member of the editorial board of Elsevier’s Journal of Human Evolution (JHE) resigned “with heartfelt sadness and great regret,” according to Retraction Watch, which helpfully provided an online PDF of the editors’ full statement. It’s the 20th mass resignation from a science journal since 2023 over various points of contention, per Retraction Watch, many in response to controversial changes in the business models used by the scientific publishing industry.
“This has been an exceptionally painful decision for each of us,” the board members wrote in their statement. “The editors who have stewarded the journal over the past 38 years have invested immense time and energy in making JHE the leading journal in paleoanthropological research and have remained loyal and committed to the journal and our authors long after their terms ended. The [associate editors] have been equally loyal and committed. We all care deeply about the journal, our discipline, and our academic community; however, we find we can no longer work with Elsevier in good conscience.”
The editorial board cited several changes made over the last ten years that it believes are counter to the journal’s longstanding editorial principles. These included eliminating support for a copy editor and a special issues editor, leaving it to the editorial board to handle those duties. When the board expressed the need for a copy editor, Elsevier’s response, they said, was “to maintain that the editors should not be paying attention to language, grammar, readability, consistency, or accuracy of proper nomenclature or formatting.”
There is also a major restructuring of the editorial board underway that aims to reduce the number of associate editors by more than half, which “will result in fewer AEs handling far more papers, and on topics well outside their areas of expertise.”
Furthermore, there are plans to create a third-tier editorial board that functions largely in a figurehead capacity, after Elsevier “unilaterally took full control” of the board’s structure in 2023 by requiring all associate editors to renew their contracts annually—which the board believes undermines its editorial independence and integrity.
Worst Practices
In-house production has been reduced or outsourced, and in 2023 Elsevier began using AI during production without informing the board, resulting in many style and formatting errors as well as reversing versions of papers that had already been accepted and formatted by the editors. “This was highly embarrassing for the journal and resolution took six months and was achieved only through the persistent efforts of the editors,” the editors wrote. “AI processing continues to be used and regularly reformats submitted manuscripts to change meaning and formatting and require extensive author and editor oversight during proof stage.”
In addition, the author page charges for JHE are significantly higher than even Elsevier’s other for-profit journals, as well as broad-based open access journals like Scientific Reports. Not many of the journal's authors can afford those fees, “which runs counter to the journal’s (and Elsevier’s) pledge of equality and inclusivity,” the editors wrote.
The breaking point seems to have come in November, when Elsevier informed coeditors Mark Grabowski (Liverpool John Moores University) and Andrea Taylor (Touro University California College of Osteopathic Medicine) that it was ending the dual-editor model that has been in place since 1986. When Grabowki and Taylor protested, they were told the model could only remain if they took a 50 percent cut in their compensation.
Elsevier has long had its share of vocal critics (including Ars Technica’s Chris Lee), and this latest development has added fuel to the fire. “Elsevier has, as usual, mismanaged the journal and done everything they could to maximize profit at the expense of quality,” biologist PZ Myers of the University of Minnesota Morris wrote on his blog Pharyngula. “In particular, they decided that human editors were too expensive, so they’re trying to do the job with AI. They also proposed cutting the pay for the editor-in-chief in half. Keep in mind that Elsevier charges authors a $3,990 processing fee for each submission. I guess they needed to improve the economics of their piratical mode of operation a little more.”
Elsevier has not yet responded to Ars’ request for comment.
Not All AI Uses Are Created Equal
John Hawks, an anthropologist at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, who has published 17 papers in JHE over his career, expressed his full support for the board members’ decision on his blog, along with shock at the (footnoted) revelation that Elsevier had introduced AI to its editorial process in 2023. “I’ve published four articles in the journal during the last two years, including one in press now, and if there was any notice to my coauthors or me about an AI production process, I don’t remember it,” he wrote, noting that the move violates the journal’s own AI policies. “Authors should be informed at the time of submission how AI will be used in their work. I would have submitted elsewhere if I was aware that AI would potentially be altering the meaning of the articles.”
There is certainly cause for concern when it comes to using AI in the pursuit of science. For instance, earlier this year, we witnessed the viral sensation of several egregiously bad AI-generated figures published in a peer-reviewed article in Frontiers, a reputable scientific journal. Scientists on social media expressed equal parts shock and ridicule at the images, one of which featured a rat with grotesquely large and bizarre genitals. The paper has since been retracted, but the incident reinforces a growing concern that AI will make published scientific research less trustworthy, even as it increases productivity.
That said, there are also some useful applications of AI in the scientific endeavor. For instance, in January 2024, the research publisher Science announced that all of its journals would begin using commercial software that automates the process of detecting improperly manipulated images. Perhaps that would have caught the rat genitalia figure, although as Ars science editor John Timmer pointed out at the time, the software has limitations. “While it will catch some of the most egregious cases of image manipulation, enterprising fraudsters can easily avoid being caught if they know how the software operates,” he wrote.
Hawks acknowledged on his blog that the use of AI by scientists and scientific journals is likely inevitable, and he recognizes the potential benefits. “I don’t think this is a dystopian future. But not all uses of machine learning are equal,” he wrote:
It’s bad for anyone to use AI to reduce or replace the scientific input and oversight of people in research—whether that input comes from researchers, editors, reviewers, or readers. It’s stupid for a company to use AI to divert experts’ effort into redundant rounds of proofreading, or to make disseminating scientific work more difficult. In this case, Elsevier may have been aiming for good but instead hit the exacta of bad and stupid. It’s especially galling that they demand transparency from authors but do not provide transparency about their own processes … It would be a very good idea for authors of recent articles to make sure that they have posted a preprint somewhere, so that their original pre-AI version will be available for readers. As the editors lose access, corrections to published articles may become difficult or impossible.
The journal Nature published an article in March raising questions about the efficacy of mass resignations as an emerging form of protest after all the editors of the Wiley-published linguistics journal Syntax resigned in February. (Several of their concerns mirror those of the JHE editorial board.) Such moves certainly garner attention, but even former Syntax editor Klaus Abels of University College London told Nature that the objective of such mass resignations should be on moving beyond mere protest, focusing instead on establishing new independent nonprofit journals for the academic community that are open access and have high academic standards.
Abels and his former Syntax colleagues are in the process of doing just that, following the example of the former editors of Critical Public Health and another Elsevier journal, NeuroImage, last year.
