You can't now un-invite us to the party because you don't like what we are saying about the ambiance, like a spoiled brat at her Sweet Sixteen celebration. We will defend ourselves from lies and manipulation and not accept the labels of "unhinged", "bully", "crusty old hag", "mentally unstable" or "delulu" (among others)

She is an awful person and by tying yourself to her like this you implicitly approve of her racism, antisemitism, fatshaming, arrogance, clout-chasing and entitlement, forever. That hypocrisy cannot go unnoticed considering your former stances on these subjects and your role as the face of ASP. The site may be useless and bland on its own, but politics is full of people talking out of both sides of their mouths, and you have made the platform potentially polarizing at a time when we need serious, clear discussions with no distractions

The fact that you look absolutely miserable and discuss your life as if it is not your own is more than a little unnerving. This is in no way to shame you, but rather out of a genuine concern for your safety and why you did this to yourself when you had every opportunity provided (hence, the "Dumb Fuck"). You have talent, but are wasting it on brain-dead pap because you seem afraid of depth and unearthing something blocked deep within your psyche

Show how your behavior parallels the issues of the world at large and how we accept things we shouldn't. We have kept quiet about unchecked privlege, intent vs. impact, performative activism, being child-like vs. childish, ageism, greed, mental illness and wellness, the power and weaponry of sexuality, toxic masculinity and misogyny, generational wealth, integrity, alternative facts and emotional truths, misinformation and disinformation, value placed on hard work, attributes of healthy relationships, preciousness of time, and the effects we have on our fellow mortals, all of which has got us to now, on the brink of societal destruction. And we see this epitomized in the microcosm of your shitshow

And I don't care if this is just how it is done in Hollywood. It shouldn't be- it's dumb, dangerous, unethical and doesn't work. Movies used to not have sound and Harvey the Hutt used to be a free and powerful man. Things evolve!

Omg day 27 already?! I can’t believe this fest is almost done :( today’s prompt for @hprecfest is fun but also challenging for those (like me) who read way more canon-based fic than AUs. But I do love a good challenge so I decided to go full non-magical AU instead of picking a “Draco in the Muggle World” AU. And since I’ve been sick in bed with a lot of time in my hands I thought why not rec 2 Drarry fics + 1 rare pair. I couldn’t care less for hockey, and yet I’ve reread this classic more times than I care to admit. this is superb rivals with benefits to lovers (my fave!), super hot and hilariously chaotic as all Drarry things should be. an instant 2023 fave, this is the rowing AU I did not know I needed but boy, am I happy it found me 🙏🏼 citrus got me shooketh from beginning to end, I am awed by the world building and the whole Oxford way of life especially the classism aspect and the training ethos. everything is so vivid and refreshing and unlike anything I’ve seen in the fandom so far. the fic incorporates many canon elements and balances dialogue, world building and character development flawlessly. being in Harry’s head is an emotional ride, he’s a wonderful and relatable character and I just wanted him to be happy so badly. Draco’s arc is equally moving (I was screaming at his reappearance) and this is peak rivals to lovers!!! I was very invested in the competition and the romance is so so lovely and real. I felt incredibly sad and lost when I finished this fic because I wanted to stay in this universe forever. fun, inventive, sophisticated and surprising in the best ways, go read it now

I’m so weak for this ship and this shop AU is the cutest thing you’ll read today, I love swooning Harry daydreaming about Teddy and being an absolute dork around him. it’s so funny (and mildly embarrassing) to watch him pine over this cool, charming, and confident young Teddy who’s not afraid to get what he wants 🌝 the clubbing scene deserves special kudos for its depiction of ageism in queer spaces and how older folks sometimes struggle to fit in. for all their differences I love how Harry and Teddy instantly click, the casual-not-so-casual flirting flows smoothly between them until the UST breaks with deliciously hot smut as per sdk’s usual. a sweet AU to check before the year ends!

It’s regrettable that this is happening to anyone, but I’m at least lucky that it’s predominately hate in my Google form, which has remained mostly dormant for the past couple months anyway. Thankfully, it seems tumblr peeps are a lot gentler and more subdued, in that they don’t feel the need to…stalk people and anonymously call them horrific slurs? Crazy, I know!

Actually, I have a few eruri friends who are getting it a lot worse than I am, or have ever, really. Authors posting new fics to the ao3 tag are being barraged with ugly ranting comments often laced with misogynistic slurs, ageism, and more. These comments are typically quietly deleted as authors try desperately to moderate their own spaces and experiences, so you won’t necessarily see them, but it’s definitely been going around. I would maybe gently encourage anyone reading this to drop an ask of support into the inbox of your favorite fic authors or fan artists. Perhaps revisit an old favorite fic and leave a kind comment, just something to let them know they’re appreciated. It’s not like we’re out here changing the world with our silly flights of fancy, but a constant wave of hate, however misplaced and bizarre, can still chip away at even tough exteriors.

Norman not only argues with journalist doing AMC bad press, but he still is at open war with fans blocking them because they agreed with the said journalist. Seriously, AMC has a big problem here because not only does Daryl spinoff has already terrible press anf they've just started shooting it (imagine what will happen next, many fans are determined to ridicule it and rightfully so and I feel the press will not be kind to that show as well) but it really seems like Norman is beginning to be a real problem here. It looks like someone finally noticed his behaviour and he today 'apologised' to a journalist. With his attitude and not being able to accept criticism, it will go only worse for him especially when it turns out he was lying to us about Carol and Melissa. Not that I feel sorry for him but still, it sucks

You know, the last couple of days have just made me really sad to be honest, especially when you consider how polar opposite the energy in the fandom would be if the Caryl spinoff hadn’t gotten blown up. You’re right about the press issue, not that I want the show to do well if it’s really hellbent on retconning one of my favorite characters. What really gets me is the blocking spree. Some of the fans agreeing with Paul weren’t hating on the actress or on Norman. They’re Caryl fans, supporters of Carol AND Daryl who care deeply about their story and rightfully have concerns, and concerns about Melissa who has been subjected to ageism and sexism in the fandom and these issues do run rampant in the industry.

I’m not sure why anyone would expect a different reaction when AMC has only ever come to the defense of one of its male stars, has removed a woman over 50 and a woman of color from one of their projects, turned it into something that seems to pander to the male gaze, and currently has all male showrunners on TWD shows (not expecting Tales to be renewed). If the situation we’re in is going to be rectified and we’re just not privy to it yet, great. But in the meantime, we can only respond to what we see and what we see isn’t great.

Carylers are actually some of the most perceptive fans I’ve ever come across, yet we’re all reduced to a bunch of “crazy” hysterical women or “Carol Conspiracy Theorists” (I knew there was going to be another headline coming our way) who apparently deserve to be shunned. Meanwhile, the behavior from people who shit on Caryl and Melissa is rewarded with likes. I wish it was more acknowledged that the toxicity in the fandom is not a Caryl problem. It’s a TWD problem. 

Anyways. I know some of you have seen filming photos come out, but I don’t want to talk about those or the spinoff in general. We don’t know what the plan is yet for Caryl, Carol, and Melissa, so there’s our sliver of hope that I’d like to focus on for the next couple of weeks.

Heey there, how is the writing going? What is your favourite thing to write about rumbelle?

It's funny you should ask that, Anon. I haven't actually started writing yet this year, though I have looked at my AO3, and my list of fics that I haven't started yet, but have the idea for, and I've been trying to make sense of a system/schedule for writing. My life is very busy, so I have to organize and prioritize so that no fic gets left behind. (I should trademark that).

It's hard right now to think about it though because we have just entered the fandom's open season; the Rumbelle fandom's "crazy season." The the time of year when all of the "mean girls", haters, bullies, and all those who think that the fandom owes them something, come out of the woodwork, and start getting ugly about their fellow Rumbellers, Rumbelle fics, and fandom events. This super sad, because it denegrates fandom, and turns it from something that is fun, welcoming, cozy and inclusive to something that full of negativity, elitism, ageism and misandry, (and that's the short version of the list).

My favorite thing about writing Rumbelle, most of the time, is that it can be ANYTHING a writer wants it to be, and know that fellow Rumbellers will celebrate with them.

If they want to write smut, they can write it hard core, softer, or even just hinted at with a fade to black, or subtext, and let the romance and teasing be what makes it hot, and it's still smut. They can include a third party (consensually) in the relationship, and know that fellow Rumbellers will embrace that (Oh, boy, give me some Mad Rumbelle any day of the week!) Writers can write, and "publish" and not have to worry about people buying their work; kudos and comments are nice and all, and prove engagement, but they aren't a measure of whether the work is good or not. This is empowering, especially when so many of us are full of self doubt about any given fic. So, it's great to know the Rumbelle fandom is going to lift up its writers, and not go around pissing on other writers' parades...

Although I obviously understand the need for conversations about ageism and etc, I truly cannot stand the way "[x community] elders" are discussed on this website as some sort of infallible monolithic group whose experiences and opinions are inherently more valuable than the experiences and opinions of "young people". I think this especially falls apart when approached through a lens of intersectionality; "what about NONWHITE elders" my family in Puerto Rico who think I just need to find a nice man and settle down and make grandkids or whatever? "What about GAY elders" the MULTIPLE (cis) people I've met who think that the crazy trans mob is silencing JK Rowling for literally only saying that Biological Sex Is Real? Idk the way so many of you "go outside and tall to REAL QUEERS" or whatever people talk about "elders" just feels like you've never actually met a substantial amount of "elders" and are just engaging in this site's weird gay "cult of tradition" worship. Obviously a presentation of "old people" as all regressive and backwards and etc is wrong, obviously "I hate boomers" or whatever is wrong, but the solution to that is not to pretend like "elders" are a heightened class of people whose opinions are inherently more valuable, yes even if they're "nonwhite queer elders". Two careers that a young black boy will always take an interest in are, Rapping and Athletics. Most people have done both feats and most haven’t made any professional stride in either category. Most of them starts young as well. I never wanted to be a professional athlete but please believe I love rapping with all my heart. I’ve been rapping since maybe 2000. I really started consistently writing raps in the 7th grade but I wrote my first rap way earlier, it was a rap about shoelaces lol. During that same week I wrote my first song called “Oreo Klondike Bar” lmao. I wrote it in the vein of RUNDMC’s My Adidas lol. If you know me my first song being about Oreos makes perfect sense lmao.

Fast forward as I get older with music around 18/19 I started locking in with my younger cousin Khalil, who was around 12/13 at the time. So basically I became his mentor and started getting his rapping chops right. When he started writing it was a struggle because he was so young so he didn’t have much experience in life, I was only a few years older, but those few years makes a difference.

When we would be writing together I told him “Cuz just focus on yo flow because nobody grown wanna hear you because you too young to talk about something relatable.” That’s when he would start going and start focusing on playing with how he said things rather than what he said. I can remember coaching him on saying the same part fifty different times lmao. Man those were great times, as time started to progress, he started digging deeper, and was starting to fight the reverse ageism against his lyrical content.

With the combination of him studying music on his own and me co-writing his verses, he started to understand himself as an artist. It got to a point where he would send me hooks and songs that I didn’t write his verse or anything, and I would be impressed like Damn cuz you wrote this?

For anyone who starts music young this is basically all our story not just Khalil’s. When you’re young making music, you’re either capping way too much or talking about some absolute bs. The younger you are you should just focused on sounding good, learning how to write, and studying music. Then when you’re older you’ll gain actual experience which you could translate into songs.

Its amazing as an artist to reach a point where you can take a situation or event in your life and write a song about that one specific thing and not get off topic, while rhyming and actual sounding dope. That’s why I’m so excited to see younger people get that spark to want to do music, but I hate the people that get into to waste time and not take it serious.

I don’t wanna hear no 14 year old talking about smoking opps, racks going crazy, and a whole bunch of dumb stuff we know you not doing, If your idiotic self is actually doing it then we got bigger problems then music because you’re heading down the path of destruction. Its getting real Dennis the Menace in this bih lmao ( but a 100 times worse).

If you’re a young a preteen/teen don’t ever get discouraged from pursuing your genuine interest in rapping. Yes we have enough rappers and most are extremely trash and posisbly destructive to our community but I believe in people following their passion. Who cares if its a thousand rappers, its only one you! Invest in yourself, let time be your teacher, and grow, grow, grow!

Oh I'm glad I'm not the only who picked up on the misogyny and ageism with that whole thing. For me, it's not even necessarily the fact that it was played up for jokes but the fact that he even refused to do it? Because we know he's certainly not shy about doing sex scenes. I know he's said he didn't wanna make the ladies uncomfortable or whatever, but I don't think an older woman would be more uncomfortable than a younger woman while doing a scene like that, and again, he's had no problems when it's a younger actress. Unless it was like a super crazy sex position, but we know he was given options with those stick figure emails, so couldn’t he just pick the most vanilla one? You know what the worst part is? I saw some people on Twitter actually praising him because 'oh he was obviously looking out for the actresses he's such a gentleman' and idk man, I wish I was that hot to have people praise my every move like that.

I don’t know the whole story behind it all — in a way he did go with the more vanilla option; just the jerking off in their direction.

He’s entitled to draw boundaries of course. Without knowing all the details, these boundaries come off a bit ageist and sexist, yes.

Actually the writing of that scene in itself is ageist and sexist. The b*ys prides itself on its shocking and taboo sex scenes. Suddenly it’s supposed to be shocking to have sex with an older woman or something? Ok.

BREAKING NEWS! THE PUBLIC & MEDIA ARE BEING AGEIST & MISOGYNISTIC! [again]

We all know the industry is shallow, so why do we fall into the traps of ageist and misogynistic thinking? Why are we still normalizing this?

Famous woman is roasted online & in the media for her appearance, while her speech ignored. Then she is undermined when blaming bigotry for the shallow fixation on her face rather than her words, solely out of sexism and ageism. Nobody cared what she until she called them out publically. A man over 45 would never had his speech go unmentioned.

When giving a heartfelt speech celebrating the award winning Sam & Kim, rather than agree her speech and join in thanking them for their "fearlessness," viewers only wanted to mock a fellow adult for her face. The childishness is unsettling. The lack of thought and massive bandwagoning of bullying "jokes" isn't something we should be seeing happen so easily. This shows just how susceptible the public is and how easily they follow. This isn't just wrong, it's scary. EVERYONE MOCKED BRITNEY when she was a victim because the headlines called her crazy and now everyone mocks Madonna cuz she doesn't fit their image, ignoring her actual self. People always have such short memories. Whatever happened to think for yourself?
